Public-source editorial research, not clinically reviewed
The best online TRT providers for erectile dysfunction need to assess the erection problem, not just sell testosterone. Male Excel lists separate ED treatment from $65/month; Hone publishes a confirmatory-test step for TRT. Neither has proven better ED outcomes. Without confirmed low testosterone, start with ED evaluation—not a hormone subscription.1234
Best for: U.S. adult men comparing care for erections and possible low testosterone. Not for you if: you need urgent care, are seeking nonmedical testosterone use, or want a quiz to decide whether you need hormones.

Which care options belong on the 30-second shortlist?
Male Excel is an option to investigate for separately priced ED care; Hone is worth comparing for its published TRT confirmation process. TRT Nation offers a different cost structure, while Taurus’s conflicting product and subscription descriptions prevent a treatment recommendation from these pages alone.
| Care option | Published price or key constraint | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|---|
| Male Excel | As-needed generic sildenafil or tadalafil advertised at $65/month; $35 first month. ED and hormone state lists differ. | A separately marketed ED service, not proof that its hormone program is right for you. 15 |
| Hone Premium | $155/month membership; $65 initial labs and $25 confirmation test; medication extra. | A published confirmatory-testing step to compare—not evidence of superior ED outcomes. 2 |
| TRT Nation | TRT catalog: $99.99/month equivalent with a 2.5-month minimum; labs and ED medication extra. | A lower published TRT base price to investigate, not a complete combined-care quote. 678 |
| Taurus Meds | Charge displays $101.94 against a $199 comparison price; quantity and renewal period are not clear from that offer. | A compounded product with conflicting ingredient lists. No treatment recommendation here. 910 |
| Your own doctor + a pharmacy discount card | One tadalafil coupon example: $14.24 for 30 tablets, plus the cost of evaluation. | A medication-price alternative worth checking locally—not a nationwide cheapest-care guarantee. 11 |

If you're looking for the best online TRT providers for erectile dysfunction, here's the part to settle before anyone sells you testosterone: testosterone is usually not the first thing you should buy. Evaluation comes first.34
Testosterone alone is not a dependable treatment for erectile dysfunction. In the 2024 TRAVERSE sexual-function report, 1,161 men aged 45–80 with low libido, two low testosterone results, and cardiovascular disease or increased cardiovascular risk were followed for up to two years. Testosterone gel improved sexual desire and activity, but did not improve erectile function compared with placebo.1213
Male Excel’s separate ED listing is useful for a man comparing ED care without assuming he needs hormones. It is not the only online service offering ED medication, and the public information does not establish a best provider for most men. If testosterone deficiency is confirmed, compare the hormone evaluation and follow-up as a separate decision.1283
This answer changes if:
- Your sex drive is gone too — not just the erection. That is worth discussing with a clinician, but it does not diagnose low testosterone. Appropriate evaluation includes repeat early-morning testing when deficiency is suspected.3
- You want kids in the next few years. Testosterone from outside the body can suppress sperm production. Read the fertility section before you order anything.3
- You take nitroglycerin or any nitrate for chest pain. Sildenafil and tadalafil are contraindicated with nitrates. Discuss ED with your treating clinician; do not change a heart medicine to fit an online offer.1415
- You live in Alaska, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, or South Carolina. Male Excel lists those five exclusions for its ED service.1
Below, we show the arithmetic for eight different care options—including a pharmacy-price example that makes us nothing. Some are known subtotals, not complete first-year bills. We'll also show you what's actually listed inside a compounded ED product, measured against the approved oral products’ labeled limits. One of those numbers surprised us.
TRT Provider Guide is the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy — helping U.S. adults understand how low testosterone is evaluated, compare online and local care models and providers, and choose the next step that fits their health needs, fertility plans, budget, state, and care preferences, with every material claim verified and dated.
The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.
What did we actually verify?
What we actually verified: We checked the public offers, terms, and source documents cited on this page. That verifies what was published—not that a provider followed every promise for an enrolled patient.
Date checked: September 8, 2026.
What we checked: Male Excel’s ED, hormone, testing, pricing, FAQ, and legal pages; both Taurus Charge descriptions and Taurus’s program and legal pages; Hone Premium’s published plan; and TRT Nation’s treatment, ED, laboratory, and FAQ pages. Medical evidence comes from the primary research, specialty guidance, prescribing information, and FDA, DEA, HHS, and NIDDK sources linked below.
What is provider-stated, not independently confirmed: advertised prices, panel contents, turnaround estimates, clinician-access descriptions, support promises, pharmacy partnerships, monitoring schedules, and cancellation procedures. Reading those claims is not an independent audit of laboratory performance, clinician licensure, pharmacy compliance, or service delivery.
What we could not confirm, and won't guess at: your assigned clinician and dispensing pharmacy, product-specific manufacturer or compounder, checkout-only charges, a complete individual first-year quote, and Taurus’s ED state coverage. Male Excel does publish a separate hormone exclusion list. Taurus publishes a $49 start and $149 monthly TRT offer, but its product descriptions and subscription terms contain conflicts that need a written explanation.5161710
What this page is not: a hands-on review. We did not enroll as patients, get prescriptions, or time anyone's support desk. This is verified public-source research and cost analysis. Our full method is in How We Review TRT Providers.
Does TRT actually fix erectile dysfunction?
Testosterone can improve sexual desire in some men with confirmed deficiency, but it is not a dependable standalone treatment for erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil and tadalafil—medicines called PDE5 inhibitors—are commonly offered for erections when appropriate; other treatments may fit the person’s health, preferences, and response better.121813
Here's the thing most men don't know, and it's the single most useful idea on this page.
Wanting sex and getting an erection are different parts of sexual function. Hormones matter, but so do blood vessels, nerves, medicines, mood, and the relationship context. From the inside, those problems can feel identical. You couldn't perform, so you assume something's wrong with your hormones.418
Sometimes it's part of the picture. These symptoms cannot tell you whether it is.
Two questions to bring to your clinician
Answer these honestly, in your head. Nobody's watching.
1. When you want sex, is the wanting still there?
2. Do you still get erections at other times — waking up in the morning, on your own?
If the wanting is intact and the erection is what's failing, that does not prove a blood-flow problem. It is a reason to assess the erection problem rather than assume testosterone is the answer.4
If the wanting is gone, morning erections have stopped, and your energy and mood have dropped with it—that's worth evaluating too. Those symptoms can overlap with low testosterone and other conditions; they still need a clinical assessment.34
If it's both, make sure the clinician addresses both. That does not necessarily mean you have two separate diseases or need two medicines.418
The Desire-vs-Erection Split
| What you're actually experiencing | What it can mean | What to discuss first | Where that points you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Desire is fine—the erection doesn't happen or doesn't last | Blood-vessel or nerve problems, medication effects, psychological factors, or a mix; symptoms do not identify the cause. | ED evaluation and suitable treatment options, including an approved PDE5 inhibitor when appropriate. | Primary care, urology, or an ED telehealth service able to arrange needed examination. 418 |
| Desire is gone—fewer morning erections, energy and mood down too | Possible hormone involvement, but this is not a diagnostic pattern by itself. | Medical assessment and properly timed repeat testing when indicated. | Primary care or a clinician who evaluates testosterone deficiency. 3 |
| Both—no drive and no erection | Symptoms may share a cause or have several contributors. | A plan that addresses desire and erection function separately. | A clinician who can coordinate ED and hormone evaluation. 418 |
| An ED pill prescribed for you isn't helping enough | The diagnosis, medicine use, interactions, or treatment choice may need review. | Reassessment—not an automatic higher dose or combination. Low testosterone, if confirmed, may affect the plan. | Your prescriber or a urologist. 1219 |
| You take nitrates, have significant heart disease, or get chest pain with exertion | Medication interactions and cardiovascular fitness need assessment. | Review with your treating clinician; active chest pain may need emergency care. | Primary care or cardiology, with urgent or emergency assessment when warranted—not an online checkout. 1415 |
What the research actually found
We pulled five bodies of evidence and lined them up on the same question: does testosterone improve erections? They do not all study the same men, treatment, or outcome, so their differences matter.
| Study or source | Who it studied | What it found about erections |
|---|---|---|
| TRAVERSE Sexual Function Study (Pencina et al., JCEM, 2024)—1,161 men; gel versus placebo; follow-up up to two years. | Men 45–80 with low libido, two testosterone readings under 300 ng/dL, and cardiovascular disease or increased cardiovascular risk. | Sexual activity and desire improved. Erectile function did not improve versus placebo. This is not a result for every cause of hypogonadism or every testosterone product. 13 |
| The Testosterone Trials (2016)—790 participants overall; 470 in the Sexual Function Trial. | Men 65+ with low libido and average testosterone below 275 ng/dL; one year of gel versus placebo. | Sexual activity, desire, and erectile function improved, with a modest average erectile-function effect. The trial was not a head-to-head comparison against sildenafil or tadalafil. 2021 |
| Cochrane systematic review (Lee et al., 2024; same-author abridged report published in World Journal of Men's Health). | 43 studies, 11,419 men overall. The review excluded primary or secondary hypogonadism such as Klinefelter syndrome or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism; it did not simply exclude every man with a low result. | The key erectile-function analysis involved six trials and 2,016 participants: average difference 2.37 points, judged little to no clinically important difference; moderate-certainty evidence. 22 |
| Spitzer et al., Annals of Internal Medicine, 2012—140 men; sildenafil optimized before randomization; testosterone gel or placebo for 14 weeks. | Men 40–70 with ED and low testosterone already receiving sildenafil. | Adding testosterone produced no statistically significant added erectile-function benefit over placebo. That is not the same as saying neither group improved. 19 |
| Specialty guidance: AUA/SMSNA and Canadian Urological Association | Clinical guidance rather than a provider-outcomes trial. | Diagnose testosterone deficiency properly and evaluate ED in its own right. The Canadian guideline suggests against testosterone monotherapy specifically to improve erectile function; its assessment of added benefit alongside PDE5 inhibitors is cautious. 2312 |
And one more fact that reframes the whole category: testosterone is not FDA-approved as a treatment for erectile dysfunction. Treating an approved indication for hypogonadism in a man who also has ED is not automatically off-label; those are different claims. The FDA’s testosterone labeling changes did not create an ED indication.2425
The honest case for testosterone
We're not here to talk you out of it if it fits.
In men who have both ED and confirmed testosterone deficiency, a clinician may discuss testosterone alongside an ED treatment. But the added erectile benefit is uncertain: the Spitzer trial found no significant additional benefit after sildenafil was optimized, and the Canadian guideline rates the evidence for adding testosterone in PDE5-inhibitor nonresponders as low certainty. That is a reason for an individual discussion, not a promise.1912
And testosterone can do something valuable for the right man: trials in men with low levels and low libido found improvements in sexual desire and activity. If wanting sex has quietly disappeared from your life, that's not nothing. That's a lot.1320
It's just not the same thing as fixing an erection.
One more comparison worth sitting with
In the T-Trials, testosterone improved erectile-function scores by about 2.6 points on the 30-point erectile-function domain. Separate weight-loss studies reported gains of around 3 points with diet and activity and about 2.2 points with diet alone. Those are not equivalent treatment effects: the diet-only study used the five-item IIEF-5 questionnaire, and the populations, study designs, and comparisons differed. They were not trials of weight loss versus testosterone.212627
We're not telling you to go lose weight instead of getting treated. That's the kind of advice that makes men give up on doctors entirely. We're telling you that testosterone is not a uniquely powerful lever here, and anyone selling it as one is overselling.
A newer example also prevents the opposite oversimplification. In the 2025 T4DM sexual-function analysis, injectable testosterone added to a lifestyle program produced a modest average erectile-function improvement over placebo. Those men were selected for obesity and diabetes risk, not pathological hypogonadism. **“TRT always fixes erections” and “TRT never helps erections” both go beyond the evidence.**21
If the wanting is still there and the erection is what's failing, get the erection problem evaluated.
Male Excel markets FDA-approved generic sildenafil and tadalafil through a separate ED service—$65 a month, $35 for your first month for its advertised as-needed options. Its ED page does not list the $99 hormone membership as part of those prices. Confirm the exact quantity, recurring charges, and evaluation requirements rather than assuming the advertised monthly figure is your whole bill.1
Two things to know before you compare it: the service states that you need to have had a physical with vitals taken in the last three years, and it isn't available in Alaska, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, or South Carolina.1

A price comparison is not clinical clearance. A prescription is not guaranteed; a licensed clinician decides.
Not sure the wanting is still there? Keep reading. Bring both symptoms to the clinician.
How do the best online TRT providers for erectile dysfunction compare?
Male Excel offers separately marketed ED and hormone services, while Hone and TRT Nation provide useful alternatives to compare on testing and cost. Taurus’s public product and billing conflicts are a reason to ask for clarification, not a reason to try a stronger combination. This public-source comparison does not establish superior ED outcomes for any provider.
We compared the core care options on the same practical questions. Not on stars, not on "editor's choice" badges—on the things that change what you pay and what you get.
| Question | Male Excel | Taurus Meds | Your own doctor + discount card |
|---|---|---|---|
| FDA-approved ED medication listed? | Advertises generic sildenafil 100 mg, tadalafil 20 mg, and daily tadalafil 5 mg. Confirm the actual manufacturer and dispensed product. | Charge is a compounded combination, not an FDA-approved finished drug. | An approved generic can be prescribed when appropriate; confirm the actual product. |
| Compounded ED product listed on the checked offer? | Not on the ED offer reviewed. | Yes—Charge, described as sublingual; official ingredient lists conflict. | Depends on the prescription; a discount card does not determine approval status. |
| Published ED price | $65/month as-needed options, $35 first month; daily tadalafil $89/month, $29 first month. | Charge displays $101.94 and a $199 comparison price; quantity/renewal period unclear. | Examples: tadalafil 20 mg, 30 tablets, $14.24; sildenafil 100 mg, 10 tablets, $15.28. |
| Hormone membership required for ED? | ED is marketed separately; its price page does not list the hormone membership. Obtain an itemized confirmation. | The ED offer does not settle membership charges; general terms list $17.99 per billing period unless a different offer applies. | A prescription can be filled without joining an online hormone program; office fees remain. |
| Testosterone testing | Advertises a home blood-spot panel and a results consultation; results are stated to take about five business days after the lab receives the completed kit. | Advertises a test/consult offer, but the checked pages do not establish the complete collection and confirmation process. | Whatever the clinician orders for the assessment. |
| Two early-morning results clearly included? | The reviewed commercial pages do not clearly promise two appropriately timed diagnostic measurements or price the second one. | Not established from the offer reviewed. | Ask the clinician; do not assume a practice meets the standard from its setting alone. |
| Recent in-person physical for ED? | Provider states a physical with vitals in the past three years is required. | Not established from the ED offer. | An examination can be arranged as clinically needed. |
| An in-person exam for testosterone? | The site says a plan may require one under DEA and state rules. | The clinical and state-specific requirement needs confirmation. | Depends on the clinical situation, prescribing method, and applicable law. |
| Testosterone treatment formats | Testosterone cypionate injections; compounded Testosterone Lipoderm Cream. The injection’s exact product/approval status needs confirmation. | Advertises injectable testosterone, but conflicting product descriptions prevent a firm product-level comparison. | FDA-approved or compounded products depend on the prescription; they are not interchangeable offers. |
| Non-testosterone options—separate from TRT | Triclozene is described as clomiphene citrate with thyroid and selenomethionine; it is not testosterone. | Advertises enclomiphene, which has no FDA-approved drug product. | Depends on diagnosis and clinician expertise; no alternative guarantees fertility. |
| ED state exclusions | Alaska, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Carolina. | Not established from the checked public ED pages. | A clinician must be authorized to treat you where you are; local access varies. |
| Insurance | Cash-pay; does not accept insurance. HSA/FSA eligibility is provider-stated and subject to account rules. | The checked offer does not establish insurance billing. | Compare the insurer’s covered price with the coupon cash price; they are separate payment options. |
| Who provides the medical care? | The platform’s terms identify separate affiliated medical groups; consent says credentials are available before the appointment. | Terms describe a platform and third-party clinical relationships, including OpenLoop Health as a management-services partner. Get the treating group and clinician’s name. | The clinician or practice you choose. |
| Cancellation and records | Refill notification and refund limits matter despite cancel-anytime wording. Consent allows records requests, with possible preparation/delivery costs. | Refund policy requires cancellation at least 72 hours before the next charge; ordinary cancellation ends service at the paid term’s end. Ask the treating group about records. | No online hormone subscription is inherent in this option; the practice and pharmacy still have their own fees and policies. |
*Provider columns: official ED, program, FAQ, pricing, consent, and terms pages checked September 8, 2026. These are provider-stated facts, not individual clinician or pharmacy license checks. Drug-approval and testing distinctions are supported separately by FDA and clinical sources.*15282930910161731113233334
Strengths in this table identify published products, not doses to choose or instructions to take them. The prescriber decides whether any drug and regimen fit your history.1415
Male Excel—a separately marketed ED service, with a hormone program to assess separately
The punchline first: Male Excel lists a separately priced ED service alongside its hormone program. That can be convenient to investigate, but one brand offering both does not prove the care is coordinated or that the hormone evaluation meets every guideline requirement.135
The specifics: three advertised FDA-approved generic ED options at published prices. An at-home blood-spot panel listing testosterone, estradiol, free T3, DHEA-S, and PSA. Medical care through affiliated clinical groups. $99 to start the hormone program, $99 a month after that, with medication billed separately. No insurance accepted; HSA/FSA eligibility is provider-stated, not a promise about your account.1363529
Now the part we'd rather not tell you.
Male Excel’s published marketing emphasizes treatment based on symptoms and aims for "optimal" testosterone levels, rather than simply reaching a conventional normal range. Its pricing page also contrasts that approach with insurers’ normal-range requirements. Those are the company’s explanations, not proof that its approach improves erections or a substitute for confirming deficiency.28
For a man whose main complaint is erections, a hormone program is not justified by symptoms or an "optimal" target alone. The evaluation still needs compatible symptoms or signs, consistently low results, and a clinician’s assessment of the cause.3
That is a reason to separate the two decisions—not a reason to endorse the hormone program. Male Excel’s separately marketed ED offer gives you a different service to ask about. An ED consultation should still assess the cause, medicine interactions, and need for an examination; it should not turn into an assumed need for testosterone.14
If you want a guideline-based diagnosis—compatible symptoms or signs plus consistently low results confirmed with appropriate repeat early-morning testing—ask the clinic to explain that process before paying. Primary care or a urologist is another starting point, or use Find My TRT Path to map the care questions. Don't let anyone sell you a hormone program you haven't been shown you need.323
Best fit to investigate: a man comparing a separately marketed ED service who also wants to ask about hormone evaluation, without assuming he needs it.
Not for you if: the relevant service excludes your state, you cannot meet its physical-exam condition, you need insurance billing, or the clinic cannot explain how it will confirm deficiency before offering hormones.1529
Easiest thing to miss: the $99 monthly membership is required for the hormone program and is separate from the medication cost. Over a year that's $1,188 before a single dose of anything.35
Taurus—product and billing questions come before a treatment choice
The punchline first: Taurus’s advertised ED product is a compounded combination, not an FDA-approved medication. One official page lists sildenafil and tadalafil amounts above the maximum recommended amounts in the respective approved oral as-needed products. That does not establish equivalent exposure across formulations, a safe combined dose, or a sensible next treatment after a pill fails.9141533
We break down exactly what's in it, against the FDA's own numbers, in the next section.
Our editorial conclusion: we cannot recommend a Charge treatment choice from these public pages. A urologist or your existing prescriber is the better next conversation when an ED medicine has not helped enough.91012
Not for you if: you want an FDA-approved ED product or a clearly reconciled ingredient list before choosing care. Nitrates and riociguat are contraindications to sildenafil and tadalafil; the absence of those medicines or known heart disease does not clear you for a combination.141510
Easiest thing to miss: the refund policy requires cancellation at least 72 hours before the next billing date. Ordinary cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid term and does not undo a processed charge. General terms also list a $17.99 recurring fee per billing period unless a different offer applies; the checkout agreement needs to resolve whether it applies to your plan.3117
We also could not confirm which states Taurus serves for ED, because it isn't published on the pages we reviewed. Ask before you pay.9
Hone Premium—a published confirmation step, with medication outside the membership
The punchline first: Hone’s Premium page spells out an initial laboratory step and a separate confirmatory test. That is useful process disclosure, not proof that every individual test was properly timed or every treatment decision was appropriate.23
The page lists $65 initial labs, $25 confirmation, and $155 per month for Premium. Follow-up labs and consultations are described as included; medication is separate. Tadalafil is estimated at $25/month, while testosterone cypionate starts at $28 per vial, not per month. The known twelve-month subtotal for the listed labs, membership, and tadalafil estimate is $2,250 plus testosterone medication. You still need the prescribed quantity and refill cost.2
Best fit to investigate: someone comparing a clearly described confirmation process and included follow-up with other cash-pay programs. Not for you if: you are treating ED as proof you need testosterone, the selected plan is unavailable in your state, or the written medication total exceeds your budget.
Easiest thing to miss: this is the Premium plan, not a promise that every Hone tier includes the same testing, care, or state access. Its listed confirmation fee also does not, by itself, prove two early-morning samples meet the clinical standard.23
TRT Nation—compare the purchase block, not just the monthly headline
The punchline first: TRT Nation publishes a lower TRT base figure, but the catalog requires a 2.5-month minimum. That is not the same as buying one month at a time, and it does not include a full ED-care budget.6
Its catalog lists $99.99/month, with California pricing potentially different, and its lab page lists $129 for a TRT panel. The sexual-health page lists tadalafil 20 mg, 30 tablets for $99.99 per order. It also lists a sildenafil 110 mg capsule; do not mistake that for an approved 100 mg tablet or assume every item on the menu has the same approval status.67814
Best fit to investigate: a person with a proper diagnosis who wants to compare a block-purchase TRT offer and separate laboratory and ED costs. Not for you if: you need a one-month purchase, insurance billing has not been confirmed, or the clinician cannot explain diagnostic confirmation, the actual drug product, and ED follow-up.
Easiest thing to miss: 12 × $99.99 = $1,199.88 is a normalized twelve-month base value—not necessarily the amount charged within a year. Purchase blocks, required labs, and ED orders determine the cash you actually pay.678
The route that pays us nothing—and might be right for you
Ask your own doctor to evaluate the erection problem and, when appropriate, compare the prescribed medicine’s pharmacy price with a discount card.
As of September 8, 2026, a GoodRx listing displayed $14.24 for thirty tadalafil 20 mg tablets. Its sildenafil page displayed $15.28 for ten 100 mg tablets, not thirty. These are coupon examples, not nationwide quotes or prescribed monthly supplies. Prices vary by pharmacy, location, quantity, and offer conditions.1132
We're telling you this because it's useful and because you'd find out anyway. If you're willing to have one conversation with your own doctor, this can be a low-cost medication path worth comparing—and it connects the erection problem with the rest of your care. We make nothing from that route. It can still be the right answer. **It is not proven to be the cheapest complete ED-care option in the United States.**41132
When a routine online intake is not the right next step
Arrange appropriate medical assessment rather than going straight to an online order if:
- You take nitroglycerin or any nitrate for chest pain. Sildenafil or tadalafil with nitrates can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Your treating clinician can discuss other ED options.1415
- You get chest pain during exertion or during sex. For active or severe chest pain, call 911. Do not wait for an online response.
- Your ED started after a pelvic injury or surgery, or comes with new pain, injury, or other concerning symptoms. The examination and urgency depend on what happened.418
- You've been told you may have a pituitary or testicular problem. That needs an appropriate clinician’s assessment, often with specialist care.3
Being under 40 alone is not a rule against telehealth. The history, symptoms, need for examination, and clinician’s judgment determine the care setting—not an age-only checklist. TRT Provider Guide is an educational resource, not a medical practice.23
What do online TRT and ED treatment actually cost for a full year?
Male Excel’s advertised ED prices add to $750 for twelve service months, or $1,008 for its daily tadalafil offer, assuming the introductory price applies and the stated monthly rate stays unchanged. Its injection-plus-thyroid example adds to a $2,727 known subtotal with start and membership fees—not a testosterone-only quote or a confirmed all-in calendar-year bill.
The monthly headline price is not always the whole price. Here's the arithmetic, shown so you can check it. These options buy different services and are not a cheapest-to-most-expensive ranking.
| Care option | What the published figure buys | The math | Twelve-month model and what is still missing |
|---|---|---|---|
| A. Your doctor + a discount card | Example coupon for 30 tadalafil 20 mg tablets. The clinician decides the medicine and quantity. | $14.24 × 12 identical fills = $170.88. | $170.88 for this hypothetical set of 12 fills, plus visits and any labs. Twelve fills are an arithmetic example, not an annual requirement or dosing plan. 11 |
| B. Online ED medication only—Male Excel | Advertised generic sildenafil 100 mg or tadalafil 20 mg offer. | $35 first month + ($65 × 11) = $750. | $750 advertised-price subtotal. Confirm quantity, refill/billing dates, any separate evaluation charges, and delivery or other fees. 129 |
| C. Online daily ED medication—Male Excel | Advertised generic daily tadalafil 5 mg offer. | $29 first month + ($89 × 11) = $1,008. | $1,008 advertised-price subtotal, subject to the same quantity, renewal, evaluation, and fee checks. 129 |
| D. Compounded combination ED—Taurus | Charge; one offer displays $101.94 against $199, without a clear quantity and renewal period. | A recurring total cannot be calculated from that display. | No defensible twelve-month total. Resolve quantity, formulation, billing cycle, and whether the general $17.99-per-period subscription provision applies. 91017 |
| E. Injection-plus-thyroid program—Male Excel | $99 start + $99/month membership + the published $120/month testosterone cypionate and thyroid example. | $99 + ($99 × 12) + ($120 × 12) = $2,727. | $2,727 known subtotal. Not a testosterone-only quote. Shipping, required additional tests, actual prescription, and billing dates can change the total. The example includes 60 syringes per stated 60-day order. 3528 |
| F. Compounded cream-plus-thyroid program—Male Excel | Same fee structure + the $132/month Testosterone Lipoderm Cream and thyroid example. The testosterone cream is compounded. | $99 + $1,188 + ($132 × 12) = $2,871. | $2,871 known subtotal, with the same unresolved charges and timing issues. This is not an FDA-approved testosterone gel quote. 285 |
| G. Non-TRT oral program—Triclozene, Male Excel | Start + membership + a compound described as clomiphene citrate, thyroid, and selenomethionine. Not testosterone. | At $95/month: $99 + $1,188 + $1,140 = $2,427. At $120/month: $99 + $1,188 + $1,440 = $2,727. | Two scenarios, not a verified available price range. The page displays both medication prices; confirm which offer applies, plus fees and billing dates. 28 |
| H. Injection-plus-thyroid program and ED medication—Male Excel | The separate examples in E and B, only if both apply to the same patient. | $2,727 + $750 = $3,477. | $3,477 combined known subtotal, not a verified bundle or complete quote. No assumption that both promotions apply or that additional costs are zero. 281 |
Inputs checked September 8, 2026. The Male Excel hormone page uses both monthly-equivalent prices and 60-day/every-other-month billing language. The model uses twelve advertised monthly equivalents; it does not assume six 60-day supplies equal 365 days or determine how many orders fall within your first year. Ask for actual charge dates and the written annual estimate. Thyroid medicine is part of the published examples, not a recommendation that you need it.
Two arithmetic traps that make cheap plans look cheaper
Trap one: a start fee that already includes your first month. If a provider's intake fee covers the first month of membership, don't count that month twice. Ask exactly what the first payment buys and when the second payment hits.
Trap two: a per-vial or per-bottle price treated as a monthly price. A vial price does not tell you how many vials a year you will be prescribed. A 30-count bottle of an as-needed ED medicine does not automatically represent one month. Any comparison that converts "per vial" into "per month" without knowing the prescribed quantity, refill timing, and pharmacy instructions is guessing. Ask for the refill cadence, not just the price.
What these numbers don't include
Shipping or handling where charged. Any separately billed confirmation test, required follow-up panel, examination, medication change, or extra supply. The Male Excel injection example already includes 60 syringes per stated 60-day order, so those should not be added twice. A page saying it provides monitoring does not settle whether every required test is included in your plan.283529
If a provider won't tell you the twelve-month total before you pay, that's information about the provider.
Insurance, HSA, and FSA
Male Excel does not accept insurance and advertises HSA/FSA eligibility; account eligibility and documentation still need confirmation. Its terms describe a cash-pay service rather than insurance billing. For an insurance-first care route, ask your insurer about the clinician, ordered tests, diagnosis requirements, drug formulary, and prior authorization before comparing its covered price with a cash offer.2935
A pharmacy coupon price and an insurance claim are separate payment options; ask the pharmacy which applies. For the wider fee checklist, see our TRT cost guide.
If your sex drive is gone too—not just the erection—the next step is finding out what is causing it.
Male Excel advertises a $99 at-home blood test and a consultation. Its listed markers include testosterone, estradiol, free T3, DHEA-S, and PSA. That initial panel is not, by itself, a complete diagnosis.363
Before paying, ask whether a second appropriately timed testosterone measurement is required, what it costs, and what happens if the evaluation does not support treatment. The public offer does not establish those answers for your case.
→ Copy the five testing and payment questions before choosing a provider
*Male Excel’s hormone membership is advertised at $99/month; medication is separate. Testing does not guarantee a prescription or a refund. A clinician decides whether treatment is appropriate.*3529
Are compounded ED combinations better than Viagra or Cialis?
Compounded ED combinations are not FDA-approved finished products, and a larger ingredient total does not establish a better or safer treatment. The approved sildenafil and tadalafil labels do not recommend combining them with other PDE5 inhibitors; a disappointing response to one medicine is a reason for reassessment, not an automatic move to a combination.331415
"Compounded" means a medicine is prepared by combining, mixing, or altering ingredients. Compounding can be appropriate for a patient whose needs cannot be met by an approved product—for example, because of an allergy to an ingredient—but it must meet applicable legal requirements. A pharmacy making a product does not, by itself, establish FDA approval or compliance.33
It is not the same as FDA-approved. Taurus’s product page discloses that featured compounds have not been approved by the FDA. The FDA does not approve compounded drugs or review them for safety, effectiveness, and quality before marketing.933
Here's what that means in actual milligrams.
What's in a compounded ED combination, compared with approved oral product labels
| Ingredient or issue | Taurus Charge’s ED page states | Approved-product reference | What that comparison does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sildenafil | 110 mg in the advertised dose. | VIAGRA’s approved oral label gives 100 mg as the maximum recommended dose, no more than once daily. | 10 mg above that labeled oral amount. This is not a measurement of equivalent exposure from a sublingual compound. |
| Tadalafil | 22 mg in the advertised dose. | CIALIS’s approved oral as-needed label permits up to 20 mg, no more than once daily. | 2 mg above that labeled oral as-needed amount. Daily tadalafil uses a different, lower-dose labeled regimen. |
| Apomorphine | 3 mg in the advertised dose. | No FDA-approved apomorphine product for ED was identified. Apomorphine has approved Parkinson’s-disease products. | The compound is not an approved ED product merely because an ingredient appears in a drug approved for another condition. |
| Combining PDE5 inhibitors | Sildenafil and tadalafil together; another official Charge page also lists vardenafil. | Approved sildenafil and tadalafil labeling does not recommend combining them with other PDE5 inhibitors. | Adding their milligrams does not create a valid potency or safety score. The exact product must first be resolved. |
*Product statements checked September 8, 2026. Ingredient amounts are reported to identify the advertised preparation, not to recommend a dose or calculate an equivalent dose. The reference limits apply to the approved oral products—not an approved limit for this unapproved sublingual combination.*91014153733
The ingredient list is the product. Taurus’s ED page lists three ingredients; its separate official Charge page lists four, adding vardenafil. This is a conflict between the provider’s own pages, not a third-party rumor. Get the exact ingredients, strengths, and pharmacy in writing before making a treatment decision.910
Why more milligrams isn't a better product
More milligrams do not prove better erections. Sildenafil’s label warns that combinations with other PDE5 inhibitors have not been adequately studied for safety and efficacy and may further lower blood pressure; tadalafil’s label also advises against such combinations. The familiar side effects include headache, flushing, indigestion, and nasal congestion, with other risks varying by drug and patient. That is not evidence that an advertised combination will work better after an approved medicine disappoints.1415
The apomorphine question, answered fairly
Apomorphine acts through dopamine receptors, a different mechanism from sildenafil or tadalafil. That difference does not establish that a compounded apomorphine/PDE5-inhibitor combination improves outcomes or is suitable for a particular person.3733
No FDA-approved apomorphine ED product was identified in the approval information reviewed. Sublingual apomorphine was formerly authorized for ED in Europe as Uprima; the EMA records that its authorization expired in 2006 after the company chose not to renew it for commercial reasons. That history is not U.S. approval, and it is not proof of a safety-related withdrawal.3738
Both of those things are true at once. You should know both before you take it.
The product identity card — bring this to any provider
Before you pay for any ED medication, get these five answers in writing:
- Exact medication name and every active ingredient with its milligram amount
- Form — tablet, dissolvable, liquid, cream
- FDA-approved or compounded, in plain words
- Which pharmacy is dispensing it, by name
- What happens if it doesn't work — who reassesses you, and what's next
Two offers that look identical on price can be completely different products. This card is how you tell.
The safety rules that don't change
Sildenafil and tadalafil are contraindicated with nitrates or riociguat. Alpha-blockers and other medicines can also affect blood-pressure risk and need prescriber review. Some cardiovascular conditions make sexual activity inadvisable; a website checklist cannot clear you, and having no known heart disease does not prove a combination is safe.1415
An erection lasting more than four hours needs immediate medical attention. Don't wait it out.1415
Has an ED medicine prescribed for you failed to help enough?
That's a reason to review the diagnosis, medicine use, interactions, and other treatment options with your prescriber or a urologist. It is not evidence that you need a higher-strength compounded combination.121415
→ Use Find My TRT Path to sort the care-route questions before another purchase
Don't clear yourself for a combination because you do not take nitrates or have diagnosed heart disease. A clinician needs the full history. The tool is educational; it cannot decide whether any medicine is safe or appropriate for you.
*Taurus Charge is compounded and is not FDA-approved. The conflicting public formulation descriptions do not support a treatment recommendation.*91033
How should your testosterone be tested before anyone prescribes?
Testosterone deficiency should be diagnosed from compatible symptoms or signs plus consistently low testosterone, confirmed with measurements on separate mornings—not one result or a symptom quiz. The Endocrine Society recommends repeat morning fasting total testosterone using an accurate test; a clinician may also need free testosterone or other tests in some situations.323
A quick definition, since it matters below: total testosterone is the combined amount measured in the blood, including testosterone attached to proteins and the small unbound, or “free,” portion. Free testosterone is not the only potentially available portion; some testosterone is loosely bound to albumin. A clinician decides whether protein levels or a free-testosterone assessment are needed.3
The standard, in five steps
- Blood drawn at an appropriate early-morning time. Testosterone has a daily rhythm; follow the clinician’s instructions, including fasting when requested.
- A second measurement on a separate morning. One reading isn't enough to establish consistently low testosterone.
- Same lab, same test method where possible, because different labs measure differently.
- Symptoms or signs that fit, while recognizing that low desire, fatigue, mood changes, and fewer spontaneous erections can have other causes.
- A look for other causes, because low testosterone can be a symptom of something else worth finding.323
Tell the clinician about shift work, poor sleep, recent illness, and medicines before arranging the tests. Timing and interpretation need to fit the circumstances; do not use a testing checklist to interpret your own result. Our TRT blood-test guide explains the questions to bring.
Why the timing matters more than you'd think
An afternoon result can be lower than a morning result in the same man. That is one reason a random draw can mislead—not proof that it is the most common cause of misdiagnosis, or that an afternoon low result is automatically meaningless.323
If a provider is willing to prescribe testosterone off one random draw, that tells you something about how they practice.
About the 300 ng/dL number
The AUA/SMSNA white paper describes a total testosterone below 300 ng/dL as supporting an AUA-guideline diagnosis when symptoms or signs and repeat morning measurements also fit. Read that carefully. It's support for a diagnosis, not the diagnosis itself.23
Testosterone deficiency means consistently low levels and compatible symptoms or signs. Results near a cutoff may need extra context, including the test method and sometimes free testosterone; a number alone doesn't sort them.3
We can't interpret your labs. Neither can a quiz or a cost calculator. A clinician who has your whole picture needs to do that.
Five questions to ask before you pay anyone
Copy these:
- Do you require two early-morning testosterone draws before prescribing?
- What exactly is on the lab panel, and is the second test an extra charge?
- Who reviews my results—a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant—and can I speak with them?
- What's my total monthly cost, including membership and medication?
- If my labs don't support treatment, what happens to the money I've already paid?
Question five matters even when the evaluation is good: paying for an assessment does not guarantee a prescription or a refund.
Will TRT affect my fertility?
Testosterone taken from outside the body can suppress the hormone signals involved in sperm production and reduce fertility. If children are part of your plans, discuss that before a hormone program; non-testosterone options work differently and do not guarantee preserved fertility.323
Definition: spermatogenesis *is your body's process of making sperm. Testosterone from an outside source can signal your body to slow it down.*3
This is the part where we're going to be less reassuring than the marketing you've seen.
Exogenous testosterone—testosterone from an injection, cream, or pill rather than your own body—can suppress sperm production. The Endocrine Society recommends against starting testosterone in men planning fertility in the near term. A reproductive urologist or another fertility-aware clinician can assess the options before treatment.3
We're not going to promise you anything here. Not that it will make you infertile. Not that fertility comes back after stopping. Not a timeline. Those things vary between men, and anyone guaranteeing them online is guessing with your family.323
Clomiphene and enclomiphene are not TRT
Clomiphene and enclomiphene act on the body’s own hormone signaling rather than replacing testosterone. Male Excel describes Triclozene as clomiphene citrate with thyroid and selenomethionine; Taurus advertises enclomiphene. Neither is testosterone replacement.281634
Be clear on what these are. Do not let anyone describe them as "natural TRT." Clomiphene has an FDA-approved use for ovulatory dysfunction in women; its use for low testosterone in men is off-label. Enclomiphene has no FDA-approved drug product, so it is not simply an approved medicine prescribed off-label. A compounded preparation is not FDA-approved either. Each has its own risks, and neither guarantees fertility.343933
If children are a real plan in the next few years
Talk to a reproductive urologist, a urologist, or a fertility-aware clinician before choosing a hormone program. That discussion may start remotely, but testing and examination still need to be arranged when required. Do not let a general subscription take the place of a fertility plan.323
We'd rather lose you here than have you find out later. If you're not sure where to start, Find My TRT Path can help organize the care-route questions. For more detail, read TRT and fertility.
Is getting TRT and ED medication online safe and legal?
Online care can be lawful and appropriate, but being online is not proof of safety. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance requiring a valid prescription; a temporary federal rule permits qualifying telemedicine prescribing without a prior in-person evaluation through December 31, 2026, subject to its conditions and applicable state law.404142
Definition: Schedule III *is a federal drug classification for substances with accepted medical use and a potential for abuse or dependence. It means real prescribing rules, real recordkeeping, and real limits.*40
Testosterone is a controlled substance. ED pills are not.
That difference affects prescribing requirements, but both testosterone and these ED medicines require a valid prescription. Some ED services use an online assessment and clinician review; whether that is sufficient depends on the person and applicable rules. Testosterone evaluation needs appropriate bloodwork and ongoing clinical monitoring under professional standards—**not because Schedule III status itself creates one universal federal laboratory rule.**433421415
If a website offers you testosterone without labs and without a clinician, leave. That's not a shortcut, it's a red flag.
The telemedicine rule, and its expiration date
On December 31, 2025, the DEA and HHS published the Fourth Temporary Extension of the COVID-era telemedicine flexibilities (90 Fed. Reg. 61301). It took effect January 1, 2026 and runs through December 31, 2026. It permits qualifying DEA-registered clinicians to prescribe Schedule II–V controlled substances through audio-video telemedicine without a prior in-person evaluation, for a legitimate medical purpose and in compliance with applicable federal and state requirements. It does not authorize questionnaire-only testosterone prescribing or guarantee that an examination will never be needed.4241
What that means for you: the rules that make fully-online testosterone possible right now have a published end date. State law can also be stricter than federal law. Male Excel's own site notes that under DEA and state law, your treatment plan may require an in-person exam.3542
We're not saying rush. We're saying know the date, and don't assume a national program can serve you indefinitely without an in-person step.
What changed on testosterone labels in 2025 and 2026
Two things worth knowing, because they get misrepresented online:
February 2025: the FDA announced class-wide testosterone labeling changes: removing boxed-warning language about increased cardiovascular risk, adding TRAVERSE findings, and requiring blood-pressure warnings. Removing that cardiovascular boxed warning did not remove every warning or establish that testosterone has no cardiovascular risks.44
June 2026: HHS, through the FDA, requested further updates — removing the limitation of use stating that safety and effectiveness in men with age-related low testosterone hadn't been established, updating prostate cancer risk information, and revising warnings about enlarged prostate.25
Two cautions. First, a request to manufacturers is not the same as a completed change on every product's label. Second — and this matters for you specifically — none of it makes testosterone an approved treatment for erectile dysfunction. It isn't, and these changes didn't make it one.2425
There's also an irony worth naming. The FDA’s class-wide blood-pressure warning matters to a reader worried about erections: high blood pressure can contribute to ED. That does not establish that testosterone will worsen your erections. It does mean the "just raise your testosterone" pitch is more complicated than an ad can hold.4418
Safety facts worth knowing before you start
- Sildenafil or tadalafil and nitrates do not mix. Their labels also contraindicate riociguat.1415
- An erection lasting more than four hours needs immediate medical attention.1415
- Testosterone follow-up should assess symptoms, side effects, blood counts, and other individual risks; blood pressure and prostate-related assessment may be part of that plan.344
- Topical testosterone can transfer to another person. Approved gel labeling includes secondary-exposure warnings; a compounded cream is not an FDA-approved gel. Ask the prescriber and pharmacist for the exact product’s contact precautions rather than borrowing instructions from another product.4533
A cancer history, elevated hematocrit, untreated severe sleep apnea, recent major cardiovascular event, or suspected pituitary or testicular disorder needs individual clinical review. That may make primary care, endocrinology, urology, or another specialist the better starting point—not a routine subscription. Compare the practical differences in online versus local TRT care.323
What should you check about state access, cancellation, and follow-up?
Availability, cancellation, and follow-up are separate parts of the decision. Male Excel’s ED and hormone services publish different state exclusions, and Taurus’s refund policy requires 72-hour advance cancellation notice. Confirm the named service, your next charge, and who will reassess persistent ED before paying.1531
What if my state isn't covered?
Those five states are excluded for Male Excel’s ED service. Your options include your own doctor, a local men’s health or urology clinic, or another service authorized to treat you. Find My TRT Path can organize the care-route questions; it is not a guarantee that a provider serves your state.1
One thing worth flagging: a provider's ED availability and its hormone availability are separate questions. Male Excel publishes both lists, and they are not the same. Not being excluded from one service is not approval for the other.
| Male Excel service | Published excluded states, checked September 8, 2026 |
|---|---|
| ED | Alaska, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Carolina. |
| Hormone care | Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Rhode Island. |
*These are provider-published exclusions, not independent confirmation of a clinician’s license, current appointment capacity, or every treatment’s availability. Ask about both services by name before paying.*15
The other providers have their own limits:
| Service | What its official page says | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Hone Premium for men | The September 4 matrix does not list this plan in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, or Washington, D.C. | Plus has a different state list. A plan being available does not establish that every medicine is available. 46 |
| TRT Nation | Its FAQ lists Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Missouri, and Hawaii as exceptions to its general service coverage. | That is a provider-stated operations list, not independent license verification or a product-specific ED guarantee. 47 |
| Taurus Meds | A complete ED state list was not established from the pages checked. | Do not read that gap as nationwide service. Ask about your state and the exact treatment before paying. 917 |
State details checked September 8, 2026. Confirm both TRT and ED care, the named membership, and the specific medicine.
What if I haven't had a physical in three years?
Male Excel’s ED page says a physical with vitals taken by a medical provider in the past three years is required. If you cannot meet that condition, ask what examination or documentation the service will accept before paying. That's a real barrier, and we're not going to pretend it isn't annoying.1
A recent blood-pressure reading can be useful, because ED can accompany cardiovascular risk factors. But vitals alone are not a complete ED assessment, and not every urgent-care visit automatically satisfies Male Excel’s requirement. The service and treating clinician need to confirm what qualifies.4231
Other services may use a different intake process, and your own doctor is another option. A different policy does not remove the need for an examination when the clinical situation calls for one.23
How do I cancel?
Get these four answers before you pay anyone, not after:
- What's the cancellation cutoff date relative to my billing date?
- When is my next recurring charge, and how much?
- What happens to an order that's already gone to the pharmacy?
- How do I get my medical records if I leave?
For the providers here, the published details matter more than “cancel anytime”:
| Service | What the public policy says | What to get in writing |
|---|---|---|
| Male Excel | Its hormone FAQ describes a renewal reminder by text and email before the stated 60-day supply ends, with 48 hours to act after the reminder before billing and shipment. Its terms generally make sales final, subject to law or a stated exception. Its consent permits medical-record requests, with possible preparation and delivery costs. | Exact membership and medication cutoff dates, pending-order status, any refund exception, and the records-request process. 52930 |
| Taurus Meds | The refund policy requires cancellation at least 72 hours before the next billing date. Ordinary cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term; it does not promise a refund for that term. | The applicable subscription fee and billing period, eligibility for any separately advertised guarantee, charges retained after medical disqualification, and the treating group’s records process. 311716 |
| Hone Premium | The plan page says cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; it directs account questions to support. | The cutoff, the status of medicine already ordered, any refund, and how records are obtained from the treating practice. 2 |
| TRT Nation | The TRT catalog requires a minimum purchase period; that price statement does not establish a refund or cancellation right. | The next refill charge, any order already processed, cancellation/refund terms, and medical-record access. 6 |
These are published policies checked September 8, 2026, not cancellation tests. A promotional guarantee and the legal refund terms need to describe the same offer before you rely on either.
We have not established a representative customer-review pattern for these services. The table above reports written policies, not unverified claims about what customers “consistently” experience.
What if the medication doesn't work?
Many men benefit from a PDE5 inhibitor, but not all do, and a disappointing attempt deserves a review rather than an assumption that treatment has failed. Medicine use, interactions, alcohol, anxiety, and expectations can matter. Food effects are product-specific: a high-fat meal can delay sildenafil absorption, while tadalafil’s absorption is not affected by food.181415
If the prescribed treatment still does not help after the clinician reviews it, ask about urology care rather than assuming a stronger website offer is the answer. Other options include vacuum devices, prescribed local treatments, and surgery in selected cases. A specialist can assess which are appropriate and arrange in-person examination or teaching when needed; specialist care is not categorically unavailable through telehealth.1823
What if my labs come back normal?
Then you may have useful information—but the clinician still needs to decide whether the test was appropriately timed, reliable, and sufficient for the question being asked.3
A result that does not support testosterone deficiency does not make erection problems imaginary or untreatable. Blood-vessel disease, medicines, sleep, mood, and other factors may still need review. **Not needing a hormone subscription can be a useful answer, not a dead end.**418

How did we compare these services?
This comparison uses public-source research, not a patient account or a test of treatment outcomes. We separate what official pages state, what primary medical sources establish, what remains unknown, and what we conclude editorially.
What we checked: official treatment pages, pricing pages, FAQs, consent documents, and terms on September 8, 2026. Medical and regulatory claims are linked to prescribing information, government publications, accessible primary specialty guidance, and primary clinical research. The source notes identify the documents supporting each claim.
What we did not do: enroll as patients, obtain prescriptions, time support responses, complete a checkout, or independently verify each assigned clinician and dispensing pharmacy. Our cost models are built from published prices—they are not personal quotes, and a missing required charge is not treated as zero.
How we handle commercial relationships: TRT Provider Guide has affiliate relationships with Male Excel and Taurus Meds. This article uses ordinary source links and internal decision resources, not affiliate enrollment links. Payment does not determine which care is right for you. Our full method is How We Review TRT Providers, supported by our editorial standards.
We do not publish scores or star ratings, because a number implies a precision this evidence doesn't support.
What remains to be checked for your actual prescription?
| Decision | What this research establishes | What your own written quote or clinical visit must settle |
|---|---|---|
| Who treats you? | Public descriptions and consent documents identify care arrangements, not the clinician assigned to you. | Full name, credentials, authority to treat you in your state, and access for follow-up. |
| Which laboratory and samples? | Male Excel markets a home blood-spot test; Hone Premium lists initial and confirmatory labs; TRT Nation lists a $129 panel. | Accurate diagnostic testing, timing, required repeat samples, and all laboratory fees. |
| Which pharmacy and finished product? | Taurus’s terms list Red Rock Pharmacy, HealthWarehouse, Precision Compounding Pharmacy, and Triad Rx as partners; that does not identify which fills Charge. Male Excel’s FAQ names Anazao Health Corp. and WellDyneRx-Fl. Neither list identifies the pharmacy assigned to an individual prescription. | The assigned pharmacy, its license, product identity, and approved-versus-compounded status. |
| Who monitors treatment? | Male Excel’s FAQ describes a refill assessment every two months, possible hormone retesting at six and twelve months, and PSA retesting at those points. Hone Premium describes quarterly consults and included follow-up testing; the clinician sets the exact schedule. | Who reviews blood counts, blood pressure, symptoms, and other relevant risks; which visits/tests are included. |
| Who handles ongoing ED? | Offering testosterone and an ED medicine does not establish a persistent-ED follow-up plan. | Who reassesses inadequate response, and how specialist or in-person care is arranged. |
| What happens when you leave? | The cancellation table reports published rules, not a tested experience. | Billing cutoff, pending prescriptions, refund conditions, and record transfer. |
*This checklist is the part to copy into a message to each provider. Leave an unanswered item marked “not confirmed” in your own comparison rather than assuming the cheapest displayed price includes it.*293036517273
What else should you know before choosing?
The remaining questions are about fit, not a guaranteed prescription or result. Use these answers to prepare for a clinician discussion and compare written offers.
Does TRT help erectile dysfunction? It can improve desire and sometimes erection scores in selected men with low testosterone, but it is not a dependable standalone ED treatment. TRAVERSE found improved desire and activity without improved erectile function; other trials found modest erectile improvements. The diagnosis and a separate ED plan matter.13202112
Can low testosterone cause ED? It can contribute, but desire, morning erections, energy, and mood do not diagnose it. A clinician needs compatible symptoms or signs plus consistently low results confirmed with appropriate repeat early-morning testing, and may investigate other causes.34
Is TRT better than Viagra for ED? Do not choose testosterone as a stronger substitute for an ED medicine. The T-Trials found a modest erectile-function effect, but that was not a head-to-head trial against Viagra. Testosterone has no FDA-approved ED indication; a clinician can assess whether hypogonadism and ED need different treatments.202412
Can I take TRT and Cialis at the same time? A clinician may prescribe both when testosterone deficiency and ED each warrant treatment and the medicine review supports it. That does not guarantee a larger erectile benefit. In the 2012 Spitzer trial, adding testosterone to optimized sildenafil did not produce a statistically significant extra benefit over placebo.31519
How long before TRT improves sexual symptoms? There is no guaranteed date, and a change in desire does not promise a change in erections. Agree on a follow-up plan that assesses symptoms and side effects—not just a higher laboratory number—and ask what will happen if the treatment does not improve the problem it was meant to treat.32313
Do I need bloodwork before starting TRT online? Yes. A credible testosterone-deficiency evaluation needs appropriately measured, repeat testosterone results plus clinical assessment; follow-up testing is also part of treatment monitoring. Those are clinical requirements—not proof that Schedule III classification alone mandates one nationwide lab panel.32340
Can I get TRT and ED medication from the same provider? Several services offer both, including Male Excel, Hone, and TRT Nation. Male Excel markets ED medication separately from its hormone program, but offering both services does not prove the same clinician coordinates them or that all charges are included. Ask who owns the ED follow-up.1286
Does insurance cover online TRT? It depends on the service, the insurer, the diagnosis, the clinician’s network status, and the prescribed product. Male Excel is cash-pay and does not accept insurance; it advertises HSA/FSA eligibility, which you should confirm with your account administrator. Do not assume a cash-pay subscription will be reimbursed.2935
Does a licensed compounding pharmacy mean the drug is FDA-approved? No. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not verify the safety or effectiveness of compounded drugs. Ask for the exact product and its approval status in writing.33
Does TRT cause infertility? External testosterone can suppress sperm production, but the effect and later recovery vary. Raise fertility plans before treatment; a reproductive urologist or fertility-aware clinician can assess your situation. Neither a general online answer nor an add-on medicine can guarantee your future fertility.323
Is buying testosterone online legal? It can be lawful with a valid prescription and a compliant clinical process. The current federal temporary rule permits qualifying audio-video telemedicine prescribing without a prior in-person evaluation through December 31, 2026. State requirements and the clinical need for examination still apply; a questionnaire does not guarantee a prescription.4241
Does cancelling guarantee a refund? No. That depends entirely on the contract you agreed to, your billing cutoff, services already delivered, and whether a pharmacy order has already processed. Get those four answers before you pay.2931
Who wrote this, and why?
TRT Provider Guide produced this comparison as public-source editorial research. It is not a hands-on review or a clinician-reviewed assessment.
Who: TRT Provider Guide, the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy care.
How we produced it: we compared dated public offers and policies, checked clinical findings against primary research and specialty guidance, and checked approval and prescribing claims against FDA, DEA, and HHS material. We did not treat provider marketing as independent proof of diagnosis quality, licensed service delivery, medication equivalence, or successful treatment.
Why it exists: because erectile dysfunction is not just a checkbox on a hormone clinic’s service menu. Men typing this question deserve to understand the evidence and the whole care plan before spending two or three thousand dollars.
What it is not: this page has not been reviewed by a clinician. It is editorial research. It is not medical advice and it cannot diagnose you.
Found a price or policy that changed? Use our corrections process and include the public source—not your medical records.
*For active or severe chest pain, call 911. An erection lasting more than four hours needs immediate medical attention. Sudden loss of vision or hearing also needs prompt medical care; do not wait for a routine telehealth response.*1415
