The ingredient name is public. The finished product is not identified. That is the gap this guide checks—not a verdict on a vial we have never seen.¹

That does not prove the medicine is bad. It means we cannot confirm what you would receive.

Here's what changes the answer for you: whether you specifically need an FDA-approved product on a pharmacy label, which pharmacy actually fills your script, and whether a clinician has actually confirmed low testosterone yet.

We read the documents. Then we looked up the pharmacies in FDA's public enforcement records. What we found is below, and one of those four pharmacies has a file worth knowing about.⁷⁸⁹

Who is this offer best for—and who should choose another care route?

Taurus’s offer is worth investigating for a cash-pay adult man who has been evaluated and can confirm the product and full terms. It is not a confirmed fit for someone who needs an identified FDA-approved product or insurance billing; someone planning children should have a fertility-focused consultation first.¹⁴

This may fit you if you:

• Have symptoms or signs plus repeat early-morning testosterone results a clinician has reviewed
• Want a monthly program price with medication included—and will confirm every inclusion
• Are fine paying cash and don't need a claim submitted
• Understand what "compounded" means and will discuss any proposed compound’s clinical purpose with the clinician
• Will get the exact product and pharmacy in writing before entering a card

Choose another care route, or resolve this first, if you:

• Specifically want an FDA-approved testosterone cypionate product, like Depo-Testosterone or an approved generic, and Taurus has not confirmed it in writing

Before you go further: is the answer the same for everyone?

No. Testing status, fertility plans, health history, state access, insurance, and whether you need an approved product versus a compounded one can each change the right next step. A product name on a sales page cannot resolve those.¹¹⁴

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Is Taurus Meds testosterone cypionate FDA-approved or compounded?

Taurus’s $49 program page contains a compounding statement, while its homepage separately advertises FDA-approved medications. The compounding sentence names “The Excel Advantage HRT program,” so it is not a reliable identification of your Taurus prescription. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved; ask for the exact product and its status in writing.¹²¹²

Let's define both terms, because this is where men get confused and it costs them.

FDA-approved testosterone cypionate means the FDA reviewed that specific finished product — its manufacturing, its safety, its effectiveness — and approved official labeling for it. Pfizer's Depo-Testosterone is one. Several approved generics exist. These come with a National Drug Code, an ingredient list, and a package insert.³¹⁰

Patient-specific compounded testosterone cypionate is prepared for a patient under a valid prescription rather than dispensed as an FDA-approved finished product. Compounding serves real clinical purposes. A man allergic to cottonseed oil might need a different carrier. A clinician might identify a need that an approved product cannot meet; a preference for customization alone does not establish that need.¹²

But compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they're dispensed. They are not approved generics. They are not automatically equivalent to the approved product.¹²

Approved products and compounded preparations both require a prescription, but lawful compounding also has specific requirements. They are not the same thing.¹²¹³

On September 10, 2026, we found this on Taurus's live $49 program page, directly above four product cards including testosterone cypionate:

"Our bioidentical hormones are compounded in The US..."¹

The same sentence continues by naming “The Excel Advantage HRT program.” That mismatch is a reason to request a product-level answer, not assume which pharmacy or preparation Taurus uses.

And this on the Taurus homepage:

"FDA-approved medications"²

Both statements were live on the same site on the same day.

A note on "bioidentical." Taurus uses this word. It is not an FDA approval category. It does not mean approved, safer, more natural, or better.¹⁴

One more trap worth naming. A National Drug Code — the number on a vial — does not prove FDA approval. The FDA has said so plainly: an NDC identifies a listed drug, and its presence in the code directory doesn't mean the agency approved it. If someone shows you an NDC as proof of approval, that's not what it proves.¹⁵

If you specifically need an FDA-approved product, ask before you pay

Send this, word for word:

"What is the exact testosterone cypionate product I would receive — drug name, strength, manufacturer or compounding pharmacy, and National Drug Code if there is one? Is that exact product FDA-approved or compounded? Please confirm in writing before any charge."

What does a fully identified cypionate product actually look like?

An FDA-approved testosterone cypionate product has a named manufacturer, a specific strength, a published ingredient list, and official labeling. Pfizer's Depo-Testosterone is approved in 100 mg/mL and 200 mg/mL strengths, and its labeling lists cottonseed oil, benzyl benzoate, and benzyl alcohol. That level of detail is the standard to measure any offer against.³¹⁰

We're using Depo-Testosterone only as a reference point. We did not verify that Taurus supplies it. The purpose is to show you what "fully identified" looks like, so you know what's missing when it's missing.

Document check: September 10, 2026. This compares public disclosures, not received medication.³¹⁰¹²⁵

Look at that right-hand column. Five product fields are not identified: preparer, strength, carrier oil, other ingredients, and NDC. Approval status and the assigned pharmacy are also unresolved.

That's not an accusation. We did not complete a consultation, so we cannot say when Taurus would provide these details. But you should know the column is incomplete before you decide, not after the first shipment.

Why the carrier oil matters, practically. The referenced testosterone cypionate product is an oil-based injection. If you've ever reacted to an oil or preservative used in a medicine, that ingredient list isn't a technicality — it's part of the safety review with your clinician and pharmacist. Ask for it. Ingredients alone cannot establish that treatment is safe for you.¹⁰

Which pharmacy would actually fill it?

Taurus's Terms of Service name four partner pharmacies: RedRock Pharmacy in Utah, HealthWarehouse in Kentucky, Precision Compounding Pharmacy in New York, and Triad Rx in Alabama. The public terms do not identify which one would fill your prescription. We searched FDA’s public compounding-action index and FDA-site results using those names on September 10, 2026.⁵⁷

Here's exactly what we did and what we found.

Taurus lists four pharmacies by name, address, and phone number in the "Partner Pharmacy" section of its Terms of Service. We took the list and looked for matching names in FDA’s public compounding records, warning letters, and related agency correspondence. A name search is not a complete compliance audit.⁷

The Taurus partner pharmacy ledger

Read the Triad Rx row carefully, because the details cut both ways.

The warning letter is closed. FDA reviewed the corrective actions and said the violations appeared to have been addressed.⁹ That matters, and anyone who tells you about the 2019 letter without telling you about the 2023 closeout is misleading you.

But there's a detail in that closeout worth understanding. FDA recorded that the firm no longer produces sterile drug products. Testosterone cypionate injection is a sterile product. We cannot confirm what Triad Rx does or doesn't produce in 2026 — FDA's public file doesn't say, and we didn't inspect the pharmacy. We're telling you what the public record says, on the record's own terms.⁹¹⁰

The separate 2023 referral also deserves the full context: FDA described the later inspection’s issues as readily correctable, noted the pharmacy’s corrective documentation, and said it did not intend further action at that time. It referred the matter to Alabama for follow-up. Neither document identifies a Taurus patient’s cypionate vial.¹⁹

What this ledger actually tells you:

A pharmacy’s name or general compounding services do not establish whether your prescription would be a manufactured approved product or a compounded preparation. The finished-product identification is still needed.

The public partner list does not assign a dispenser or identify the label you would receive. We did not test whether support or intake would supply that answer before payment.⁵

What we did not do: we did not audit state pharmacy licenses for every possible patient state, verify current accreditation, review disciplinary histories beyond FDA's public files, or confirm which pharmacy serves which region. A pharmacy's FDA file is one signal. It is not a complete quality assessment, and nothing here says any medication a patient received was unsafe.

How to check the one that matters — yours. Once Taurus names your dispensing pharmacy, look it up in your state's board of pharmacy license database. The FDA maintains consumer guidance on locating a state-licensed online pharmacy. Check the pharmacy’s authority to dispense to your state and ask how to reach its pharmacist. That check does not replace review of the prescription or the treating clinician’s credentials.²⁰

Get the pharmacy answer before the first charge

Add this to the message you send:

"Which pharmacy will dispense my prescription, and what is that pharmacy's license number or other required authority to dispense in my state?"

What does it cost — and what are you actually paying for?

Taurus advertises $49 for its blood test and consultation, then $149 per month for prescribed medication; twelve months at that rate plus the start charge is $1,837. Its May 28, 2026 pricing statement ties $149 to a six-month commitment and lists $199 month-to-month. Section 28’s possible $17.99 fee has a purchase-time exception, so neither a fee nor an all-in total should be assumed.¹⁵⁶

Here's the arithmetic, shown so you can check it.

The fee-inclusive subtotal is a model, not a confirmed charge. Section 28 of the Terms says a recurring $17.99 membership fee applies "unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase." The $49 sales page says "No membership fees. No hidden fees." The purchase-time exception could reconcile those statements. Confirm whether it applies to your plan and what “billing period” means; save both the checkout terms and the written answer.⁵¹

What the base does—and does not—include

The May 28 statement is a dated, provider-issued release, not an independent review or proof of today’s checkout price. If its $199 month-to-month option remains available for a full year, $49 + (12 × $199) = $2,437 before any other applicable charges. The $149 calculation likewise assumes that rate lasts for all twelve months; a six-month offer does not establish the next six months’ price.⁶

We cannot calculate a complete first-year bill without those answers. Do not add a second charge for something explicitly included, and do not assume that an unpriced item is free.

Now here's the part that reframes the whole decision

FDA-approved generic testosterone cypionate products exist. A pharmacy’s drug-only price can be much lower than a care program’s monthly price.³

On September 10, 2026, GoodRx’s published comparison table showed $27.92 as its GoodRx price and $76.12 as its average retail price for one 1 mL vial of generic testosterone cypionate 200 mg/mL. For one 10 mL vial at the same concentration, it showed $53.70 and $185.50, respectively. These are website-listed drug prices—not a verified local quote, an insurance copay, a monthly supply calculation, or the cost of medical care.²³

Sit with that for a second.

You are comparing a $149 monthly program offer with a drug-only pharmacy price. The difference may pay for access to evaluation and ongoing care—not just the medicine. Those can be valuable services, especially when getting an appointment has been hard. But lab work, monitoring, shipping, and follow-up are worth paying for only when you know what is included; this review did not establish that the advertised price covers every required service.

But if you already have a clinician and a pharmacy benefit, compare the total cost of that care plus an identified FDA-approved prescription with Taurus’s complete written quote. A compounded preparation is not an approved generic substitute just because both use the name testosterone cypionate. Ask yourself honestly which care model you need. For insurance-based care, start with TRT providers that take insurance or your own physician instead.¹²

If convenience and a flat monthly price are what you're buying

That's a legitimate reason to investigate a cash-pay program. Taurus advertises a $49 start; the total terms matter more than how small that first charge looks.¹

Weekly injection or daily—can you rely on Taurus’s product cards?

Taurus's $49 page describes testosterone cypionate as weekly intramuscular injections. But the identical sentence appears under enclomiphene, testosterone gel, and oral sermorelin on the same page, so those cards do not reliably identify the treatment format or schedule. Get your actual instructions from the prescribing clinician.¹

We want to be specific here, because vague criticism is worthless.

On September 10, 2026, Taurus's $49 program page displayed four product cards. Under each one — testosterone cypionate, enclomiphene, testosterone gel, and "Oral Sermorelin+" — sat the same sentence:

"Weekly intramuscular injections clinically proven to 5x testoerone levels."¹

Enclomiphene is taken by mouth. Gel goes on your skin. Sermorelin is labeled "Oral" in the heading directly above a description calling it an intramuscular injection. The typo in "testoerone" appears on the live page.¹²⁴

Why this matters to you specifically. You're shopping for an injection. The description under your product might be correct. But it's word-for-word identical to three descriptions that are clearly wrong, so it can't independently tell you anything. Get your route, frequency, and dose from the clinician on your consult — not from the card you clicked.

Also note the claim itself: "clinically proven to 5x testosterone levels," on the same page as the unresolved compounding language. FDA does not review compounded preparations for effectiveness before marketing, and we did not verify clinical evidence supporting a fivefold claim for the exact product Taurus would dispense. Treat that number as unverified advertising, not an expected result.¹²

Administration route, briefly and generally. The Depo-Testosterone label specifies intramuscular injection — into the muscle. Subcutaneous means under the skin; use that way is off-label, meaning outside this approved product’s labeled route. That distinction does not identify Taurus’s instructions or establish that either route is right for you. It's a clinical decision, and it's one of the better questions to bring to your consult.¹⁰

We don't publish dosing, injection technique, or protocols. That belongs to the clinician who has your labs in front of them.

What is the real problem with Taurus’s cypionate offer?

Taurus’s public pages do not give you one clear, product-level answer about what you’re buying. They mix general FDA-approved language with a compounding statement that names another program, without identifying the manufacturer or compounder, ingredients, or dispenser for your prescription.¹²⁵

We promised to be direct, so here it is.

Taurus does not publish a clearly identified, FDA-approved testosterone cypionate product on the pages checked. If having an approved product on a pharmacy label is your priority — because you want the package insert or because it simply matters to you — get that confirmation first. When Taurus cannot supply it, a clinician who can prescribe an identified approved product through a retail pharmacy is the better care route. An allergy still needs a product-specific ingredient review; approval alone does not settle it.³¹⁰

But here's the honest other half. Switching brands does not, by itself, get you an FDA-approved product. Male Excel, for example, describes its own testosterone as "compounded in the United States." That makes it a poor automatic fallback for someone whose main requirement is an identified approved product.²⁵

Compounding can meet a patient-specific need that an approved product cannot, such as a problem with an ingredient. It does not create a proven price advantage or make flat-rate care possible by itself. The clinical reason, pharmacy, and written costs still matter.¹²

So the tradeoff is real in both directions. Compounded isn't a scandal. It's a choice with consequences.

What is not acceptable is not knowing which one you bought. That's the actual problem. Start with one written request before you pay; if the answer still does not identify the product, you have not resolved it.

Should you be on testosterone cypionate at all?

Major guidance does not diagnose low testosterone from symptoms, a quiz, or a single result. The Endocrine Society calls for symptoms or signs plus consistently low testosterone, and its July 2026 statement specifies at least two early-morning, fasting tests. A cutoff alone is not a diagnosis.¹¹²⁶

This is the question that should come before every other one on this page.

Total testosterone is the total amount circulating in your blood, including the portion bound to proteins and the smaller free portion. It's the standard first test. Levels can vary between draws, which is one reason one number isn't a diagnosis.¹¹

The AUA’s published guideline summary emphasizes accurate testosterone assessment, symptoms, signs, and monitoring. The Endocrine Society’s July 2026 statement specifies at least two early-morning fasting tests and describes a common clinical threshold near 300 ng/dL—not a universal pass-or-fail number.²⁷²⁶

The Endocrine Society also calls for accurate assays—the methods used to measure testosterone—and evaluation of why results are low. Reversible contributors, including obesity, certain medications, and illness, need assessment rather than an automatic prescription.¹¹²⁶

One number is not a diagnosis. Not 299. Not 250. We can't interpret your labs, and neither can an online symptom quiz. Taurus advertises an initial panel through LabCorp or Quest. Its own article says it prioritizes repeat morning testing; the missing answer is how that requirement is carried out for your intake and whether another pre-treatment draw is included in $49. Ask.²¹²²

Already taking prescribed testosterone? Ask the treating clinician how to handle your existing records, testing, and transfer of care. Do not stop or change treatment to create untreated test results on your own. Taurus says transferring patients still need an assessment; that is not a promise to continue the same product or plan.¹¹⁰

What changed in the federal picture in 2025 and 2026

Two updates matter, but neither replaces a personal risk review.

On February 28, 2025, the FDA announced class-wide labeling changes for testosterone products after reviewing the TRAVERSE cardiovascular trial and required blood-pressure studies. Labels were to add the TRAVERSE results, drop boxed-warning language about increased cardiovascular risk, and add or strengthen a warning about increased blood pressure.²⁸

On June 18, 2026, HHS announced that FDA is requesting further label updates. The proposed changes would remove the limitation of use stating that safety and effectiveness had not been established in men with age-related hypogonadism — FDA concluded that limitation is no longer warranted. The requested revisions would also narrow the prostate cancer contraindication to men with metastatic prostate cancer—cancer that has spread—and revise the enlarged-prostate warning while recommending continued monitoring for men with severe symptoms.²⁹

Two things to hold onto. First: removing or narrowing a warning does not mean every patient is a good candidate; blood-pressure and other safety monitoring still matter. Second: a requested class-wide change is not the same as an approved change on every marketed product's label, and it says nothing about the approval status of any compounded preparation. Read the current label for the product you're actually prescribed.²⁸²⁹

The Pfizer label retrieved for this review still included the age-related limitation and a broader prostate-cancer contraindication. We did not treat the June request as an already-completed change to that label.¹⁰

When an in-person or specialist evaluation may be the better starting point. Very abnormal results, suspected pituitary or testicular disease, infertility, a history of prostate or breast cancer, high hematocrit — the share of your blood made up of red blood cells — untreated severe sleep apnea, or a recent cardiac event need a full clinical review, not a quick subscription decision. Start with primary care, urology, or endocrinology; the clinician can decide what examination or specialist care is needed.¹¹

What changes when you plan to have children in the next few years?

Testosterone taken from outside the body can suppress the hormone signals that support sperm production. AUA and ASRM guidance says testosterone by itself should not be prescribed to a man interested in current or future fertility. Start with a urologist or reproductive urologist rather than a cash-pay subscription.⁴¹¹

We're not going to soften this one.

Spermatogenesis is how your body makes sperm. Testosterone from outside the body can lower the brain and pituitary signals that drive it. How much it drops, and whether or when it recovers, varies between men. Nobody can promise you'll stay fertile, become infertile, or recover on a schedule — and you should be skeptical of anyone who tries.⁴³⁰

You'll see enclomiphene offered alongside TRT, including by Taurus. It works differently, through your own hormone signaling rather than by adding testosterone. It is not TRT and is not interchangeable with it. FDA’s published review documents an application that was not approved; we did not identify an FDA-approved enclomiphene product in the sources checked. It does not guarantee fertility.¹²⁴

Clomiphene and hCG also come up in this conversation, but their approval status is different. Clomiphene is approved for certain ovulation problems in women; use for male hypogonadism or infertility is off-label, meaning outside its approved use. hCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, has approved products such as Pregnyl for selected cases of male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism—low testosterone caused by deficient pituitary signals. That is not approval for every use or a guarantee of fertility during TRT. None of these medicines is testosterone or a do-it-yourself menu.³¹³²⁴

If children are on your list in the next few years, close the sales page and book a urologist or reproductive urologist. That conversation is worth more than any subscription you could start today.

Can Taurus prescribe cypionate in my state without an in-person visit?

Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance and requires a valid prescription from an authorized clinician. Federal telemedicine flexibilities run through December 31, 2026 under specified conditions, but they do not establish Taurus’s availability in your state or guarantee that your care can stay online.¹³³³

The federal extension permits qualifying DEA-registered practitioners to prescribe through an audio-video visit without a prior in-person examination when the other federal and state requirements are met. An online questionnaire alone is not that visit, and the federal extension does not override state practice rules.³³

Taurus says it uses state-licensed clinicians. Its Terms name OpenLoop Health as a management-services partner, not the individual clinician who would treat you. We did not verify an assigned clinician’s credentials, DEA authority, appointment availability, or permission to practice where you would be located.¹⁵

Before payment, ask for the treating clinician and medical practice, whether your state is served for this treatment, any required in-person examination, and what happens if you move. Confirm the clinician through the relevant state licensing board and the actual dispensing pharmacy through your state pharmacy board. A general claim of nationwide service does not answer those questions for your prescription.²⁰³³

What happens after the first test and prescription?

Taurus describes laboratory testing, a video consultation, and follow-up care, but the public documents checked do not establish a complete cypionate-specific monitoring, refill, and support schedule. Get that plan in writing alongside the price. A first shipment is not the same as ongoing clinical care.²¹²²

The initial process, as Taurus describes it: The testing page advertises an eight-biomarker panel and a 15-minute video consultation. Its FAQ names LabCorp and Quest and says an at-home collection kit is provided without an added charge when someone lives more than 50 miles from a location. These are provider-stated arrangements, not a lab order or visit we tested.²¹

The easiest-to-miss payment step: The offer’s FAQ says that after the labs are complete, patients are directed to pay for medication and schedule the clinician call. That is different from assuming every medication charge happens after clinician approval. Ask when the charge is captured and what is refundable if treatment is declined.¹³⁴

Taurus gives an average of one to two weeks from testing to delivery. That is a provider estimate, not a refill deadline or guaranteed delivery date.¹

The separate enclomiphene shop page advertises a 30-day follow-up test and around-the-clock clinician access. Those statements do not verify the cypionate plan, and a test after treatment begins is not the second pre-treatment test used to confirm a diagnosis.³⁵¹¹

What happens if I cancel, need a refund, or transfer my records?

Taurus’s refund policy requires a cancellation request to be received at least 72 hours before the billing date; ordinary cancellation does not trigger a refund. The policy treats clinician-declined treatment differently, but its wording varies about which charges are returned. Get the applicable refund terms and any remaining commitment in writing.³⁴

Canceling renewal: Send the request through Taurus’s support channel, keep the date and acknowledgment, and ask for the effective cancellation date. Missing the 72-hour cutoff can mean another charge before cancellation takes effect. Sending it four calendar days early gives a buffer; it does not change the rule or guarantee processing. A billing cutoff does not, by itself, cancel any separate minimum-term obligation.³⁴⁶

Declined treatment or a guarantee claim: The refund policy mentions a full refund for medical disqualification in one place and remaining charges after disqualification in another. The $49 offer also advertises a 90-day results guarantee that excludes lab and pharmacy fees. Those are different circumstances—not one blanket money-back promise.³⁴¹

Ask which intake, lab, consultation, medication, and service charges would be returned in your situation. The documents checked do not support a universal promise that submitted lab orders are always refundable or always non-refundable. Keep the terms you accepted, the written answer, and the itemized charges.

Medical records: Taurus’s privacy policy describes a process to request access to records through a Privacy Officer. OpenLoop’s consent also describes medical-record sharing and transfer in specified circumstances. We did not test access, a portal export, delivery time, or fees; ask the treating practice how to obtain your lab results, visit notes, medication history, and a transfer to another clinician.³⁶³⁷

Canceling a bill is not a plan for stopping or changing treatment. Coordinate treatment changes or a transfer with the clinician.

What should you ask Taurus before paying?

Three answers lead the decision: the product, the pharmacy, and the total commitment. The checklist below adds the clinical and follow-up questions that make those answers useful. Copy it into a message or print this section; it does not assess medical eligibility.

Subject: Written details before a Taurus cypionate charge

Before I enter payment details or authorize medication charges, please confirm:

1. Product: What exact testosterone cypionate product would I receive—manufacturer or compounder, strength, vial volume, ingredients, and NDC if assigned? Is the finished product FDA-approved or compounded? If compounded, what clinical need would it address?
2. Pharmacy: Which pharmacy would dispense it, and what authority does that pharmacy have to dispense to my state? How do I contact the pharmacist?
3. Total cost: What is due now, what repeats, and what is the minimum commitment? Does the $17.99 fee apply? Include required labs, visits, medication, supplies, shipping, renewal pricing, and any other charges.
4. Testing: How is low testosterone confirmed before treatment, and is repeat early-morning testing included? How are existing results or current treatment handled?
5. Clinician and state: Who would treat me, which medical practice is responsible, and is an in-person visit required for my situation or state?
6. Fertility and health history: How will current or future fertility plans, allergies, other medicines, and relevant health conditions be reviewed? When is specialist care needed?
7. Ongoing care: What is the monitoring schedule, how do refills work, and how do I reach a clinician—not just billing support—between visits?
8. Leaving or being declined: What happens to charges if treatment is declined, I cancel, or I transfer? How do I obtain my medical records?

What we actually verified—and what remains unconfirmed

On September 10, 2026, TRT Provider Guide read Taurus's live homepage, $49 program page, and Terms of Service, then checked named-pharmacy records and primary regulatory and clinical sources. This is a public-document review, not confirmation of a patient’s medication, clinical care, pharmacy license, or final bill.

What we did not do: buy the service, complete intake, enter payment information, contact support, receive medication, speak with a Taurus clinician, inspect a checkout screen, or examine a prescription label. We did not audit state pharmacy licenses, accreditation status, or disciplinary records beyond FDA's public files.

Four core things the public pages still don't settle:

1. The exact drug, strength, manufacturer or compounder, ingredients, and NDC of the cypionate you'd receive
2. Which pharmacy would fill your prescription
3. Whether the $17.99 membership fee applies to a TRT account, and what "billing period" means for your plan
4. How Taurus implements its stated repeat-testing approach for your intake, including whether another pre-treatment draw is included

Those gaps aren't automatic reasons to walk away. They're the questions to settle before you pay. State access, follow-up, refill terms, refunds, and records access also need patient-specific answers.

What else should you know about Taurus testosterone cypionate?

A drug name does not establish the product, care agreement, or your clinical fit. These questions bring the main checks together; the answers are based on documents reviewed September 10, 2026.

Is Taurus Meds testosterone cypionate FDA-approved?

The exact finished product is not identified on the pages checked. The offer contains compounded-hormone language naming another program, while the homepage promotes FDA-approved medications. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved. Ask for the exact product name, manufacturer or compounder, and NDC if one exists, and get the answer in writing before any charge.¹²¹²

What pharmacy does Taurus Meds use for testosterone cypionate?

Taurus's Terms of Service name four partner pharmacies: RedRock Pharmacy in St. George, Utah; HealthWarehouse in Florence, Kentucky; Precision Compounding Pharmacy in Bellmore, New York; and Triad Rx in Daphne, Alabama. The Terms don't say which one fills a given prescription. Ask which pharmacy is assigned to you and check its license with your state board of pharmacy.⁵²⁰

How much does Taurus Meds testosterone cypionate cost?

Taurus advertises $49 for its blood test and consultation, then $149 per month for prescribed medication. Twelve months at that rate plus the $49 start models to $1,837. The May 2026 statement ties $149 to a six-month commitment and lists $199 month-to-month. Section 28’s $17.99 fee would add $215.88 if it applies and is billed monthly; the purchase-time exception may waive it. Confirm the complete terms, not just the starting price.¹⁵⁶

Is testosterone cypionate a controlled substance?

Yes. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance in the United States and requires a valid prescription from an authorized clinician. DEA and HHS extended temporary telemedicine flexibilities allowing qualifying remote prescribing of certain controlled medicines through December 31, 2026. State law and licensing rules still apply on top of the federal rule; a questionnaire alone does not establish lawful prescribing or clinical eligibility.¹³³³

Does an NDC number prove my testosterone is FDA-approved?

No. The FDA has stated that a National Drug Code identifies a listed drug and that its presence in the code directory does not indicate FDA approval. If a provider offers an NDC as proof of approval, ask instead for the drug name and manufacturer, then check the approval record.¹⁵

Is Taurus cypionate injected into the muscle or under the skin?

Taurus's $49 page describes weekly intramuscular injections, but the identical sentence appears under products labeled as oral or gel treatments, so the cards do not reliably establish the instructions. The Depo-Testosterone label specifies intramuscular use; subcutaneous use is outside that product’s labeled route. Get your administration route and frequency from the prescribing clinician.¹¹⁰

Can I use insurance for Taurus?

Taurus's own FAQ says its testing and treatments are often not easily covered and that it uses a cash price. Treat it as cash pay. HSA or FSA acceptance is not the same as billing your insurance. Confirm benefit eligibility with your plan rather than assuming the Taurus program is covered.¹

Do I need blood work before Taurus will prescribe cypionate?

Taurus says testing is part of its process and advertises an initial panel through LabCorp or Quest, with an at-home collection kit at no extra charge if you live more than 50 miles from a location. It also says it uses repeat morning testing; the intake steps and inclusion of another pre-treatment draw still need confirmation. The Endocrine Society calls for compatible symptoms or signs and consistently low results confirmed with appropriate repeat early-morning testing.²¹²²¹¹

Will testosterone cypionate affect my fertility?

Testosterone taken from outside the body can suppress sperm production. AUA and ASRM guidance says testosterone alone should not be prescribed to a man interested in current or future fertility. No clinic can promise preservation, infertility, or recovery on a timeline. If children are a near-term goal, see a urologist or reproductive urologist first.⁴¹¹

Is compounded testosterone cypionate safe?

You cannot establish safety from the word “compounded.” Compounded drugs can serve real clinical needs, but they are not FDA-approved or reviewed by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing. FDA warns that contamination or incorrect strength can cause serious harm. Know the exact product and pharmacy, and discuss why it is being proposed with your clinician.¹²³⁸

How do I cancel if I change my mind?

Taurus's refund policy requires a cancellation request to be received at least 72 hours before your billing date. Miss it and another charge may occur before cancellation takes effect. Ordinary cancellation does not trigger a refund; treatment rejection and guarantee claims have separate conditions. What is our verdict on Taurus’s cypionate offer?

Taurus Meds testosterone cypionate is publicly listed, but its exact finished product and dispensing pharmacy remain unconfirmed. A cash-pay patient can investigate the offer after appropriate evaluation, but the evidence does not support an unconditional recommendation. Someone who requires an FDA-approved product should not treat the advertisement as that confirmation.¹⁵

The medicine here isn't exotic. FDA lists approved testosterone cypionate products, and online prescribing can be lawful under the current federal extension when all applicable requirements are met. Neither fact identifies what Taurus would dispense or clears an individual patient for treatment.³³³

What you’re considering from Taurus is access to an evaluation and, when appropriate, a care program—not just a vial. Convenience can matter when you have struggled to get help. It does not replace a confirmed diagnosis, a clearly identified medicine, or a written care agreement.

Just buy it with your eyes open. Get the product, the pharmacy, and the total in writing. Then decide.

And if you have not yet been evaluated for possible low testosterone, make the evaluation—not a treatment commitment—the next step. Not because we're being cautious for the sake of it, but because a $49 entry price shouldn't get to make a year-long decision for you.²⁶
