Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation: Which Costs Less, and Which Fits You?

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation: Cost Plus’s $89 plan has the lower base price for eligible transfers bringing labs. For new patients, compare its $119 plan with TRT Nation’s $99.99 plus labs; neither is a proven all-in winner. State access matters. Unconfirmed low testosterone or near-term fertility plans call for evaluation before choosing either.

Educational information, not medical advice. A licensed clinician decides whether testosterone therapy is right for you. This comparison concerns adult male testosterone-deficiency care, not gender-affirming care or nonmedical performance use.

These are not complete first-year quotes. The cost model below separates included services, extra charges and payment timing.

There's one situation where the answer flips. It's in the cost section, and it's the reason "which is cheaper?" has no single answer.

Cost Plus TRT may be best for you if:

  • You live in one of its 16 listed states and the clinic confirms access.
  • You want your first labs and scheduled visits in one price.
  • You're already on TRT and can supply all required labs accepted by the clinic. Its transfer plan is $89 a month.

TRT Nation may be best for you if:

  • You live outside Cost Plus's 16 states but within TRT Nation's confirmed service area.
  • Your clinician has recommended hCG and you want to compare a posted package price.
  • You prefer the longer documented business history, without treating company age as proof of better medical care.

Don't pick either one yet if:

  • You are seeking a new diagnosis and have had only one testosterone test.
  • You hope to have a child soon and have not discussed fertility with a qualified clinician.
  • You need insurance to pay, or a specific FDA-approved product, and neither clinic has confirmed that arrangement.

What we actually verified — October 15, 2026

Checked: Cost Plus TRT's treatment, pricing, get-started, FAQ, About, Terms, Telehealth Consent and medical-privacy notice; TRT Nation's homepage, treatment, FAQ, lab-order, cancellation, privacy and April 2026 cost pages. We also checked the cited alternative-provider pages, Florida corporate record, FDA material, current product labeling, DEA, HHS and Endocrine Society guidance.

Confirmed in public sources: the posted plan rates, Cost Plus's listed initial payments and lab inclusions, TRT Nation's minimum purchase and separate lab-panel price, published coverage statements, entry ages and policy wording. We recalculated the cost tables.

Provider-stated, not independently checked: actual guideline compliance, pharmacy licensing, clinician availability, consultation access, delivery estimates and patient-review counts.

Not resolved: either patient's exact testosterone product and dispensing pharmacy; individualized later testing and add-on charges; access to Cost Plus's separate component prices; the applicable TRT Nation refund exception; and a complete first-365-day payment calendar for either program.

What we didn't do: we did not sign up, buy treatment, contact support, or talk to a clinician at either company. This is a public-source comparison, not a hands-on review.

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation: which is cheaper?

Cost Plus TRT has the lower advertised base price for eligible transfers bringing all their own labs: $89 versus $99.99 a month. For new patients, its $119 plan includes initial and 10-week labs, while TRT Nation charges for labs separately. The lower complete bill depends on the tests and other charges each person needs. 1 2 9 11

Here's the first thing most comparisons miss. The two sticker prices don't cover the same things. Cost Plus puts specified lab work and scheduled visits inside the $119 plan; its $89 plan requires you to supply all labs. TRT Nation's price covers medication, supplies, shipping and consultations, while labs are bought separately. Comparing $119 to $99.99 is comparing two different baskets. 1 13

So we put both on the same terms. Here's the setup: standard injectable testosterone within the advertised plan allowance, 12 monthly price equivalents, no discounts, no prescription changes, and labs bought through the clinic unless you bring your own.

Annualized cost by situation

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation table 2: Annualized cost by situation
Your situation Cost Plus TRT TRT Nation What the numbers establish
New to TRT, needs labs $1,428 + any required tests beyond the included initial and 10-week labs, plus other extras $1,199.88 + labs; $1,586.88 with three $129 panels No complete-cost winner until both testing plans and extras are known
On TRT, bringing your own labs $1,068 + the cost of supplying all required labs and any other extras $1,199.88 + your lab costs and any other extras Cost Plus's base is $131.88 lower; total savings depend on the remaining costs
On TRT, needs new labs $1,428; initial labs included, later labs not expressly included $1,199.88 + required labs and other extras Only initial labs are expressly included in Cost Plus's $119 transfer plan
On TRT and prescribed hCG No published comparable hCG package $2,160 treatment base; $2,547 with three $129 panels, before other extras Can't compare like for like; gonadorelin is a different drug
Outside Cost Plus's 16 listed states No access established by its published list The same cost model only where TRT Nation confirms service; California may differ Filter by access before comparing prices

How we got these numbers:

  • Cost Plus: the posted monthly price × 12. Its pricing page says extra labs are add-ons but doesn't list a plan-specific price for them.
  • TRT Nation: $99.99 × 12 = $1,199.88, plus the actual cost of each required test. Its advertised panel is $129.
  • TRT Nation's lab schedule: its FAQ describes a 10-week check, another checkpoint at six months after the first lab appointment, then yearly testing. Its April 2026 cost article says 10 weeks, then every six months once stable. That difference needs a patient-specific schedule; three panels are a cost scenario, not a universal requirement.
  • What's not included: applicable taxes or surcharges, prescription changes, extra tests your clinician orders, and California pricing, which TRT Nation says may vary. Whether a separate diagnostic confirmation test is included must also be settled. 1 2 9 10 11 13

These are base costs, not a full quote. Treat any price that isn't posted as unknown, not $0.

Here's when TRT Nation comes out cheaper

The size of the gap depends on one thing: what your labs and other required extras cost you.

For a new patient, the posted annualized base prices are $1,428 at Cost Plus and $1,199.88 at TRT Nation. That's a $228.12 head start for TRT Nation. The remaining charges decide whether it keeps that lead:

  • Cost Plus is cheaper when TRT Nation's extra costs end up more than $228.12 higher than Cost Plus's. Three TRT Nation lab panels cost $387, but Cost Plus's own required extras still have to be added.
  • TRT Nation is cheaper when its extra charges are less than $228.12 above Cost Plus's. For example, accepted outside labs with a low out-of-pocket cost could leave it ahead. Insurance payment for those labs is not guaranteed.

TRT Nation says it accepts outside labs if they're recent and include the right tests. So if your insurance already covers relevant bloodwork, run the numbers before assuming Cost Plus wins. A routine annual panel may not contain everything the clinic needs. 8 10

How the number of TRT Nation lab panels changes your total

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation table 3: How the number of TRT Nation lab panels changes your total
Panels you buy from TRT Nation Annualized treatment base Labs Subtotal before other extras
1 $1,199.88 $129 $1,328.88
2 $1,199.88 $258 $1,457.88
3 $1,199.88 $387 $1,586.88
4 $1,199.88 $516 $1,715.88

Your clinician decides how many tests you need. This table only shows how the cost moves. An additional confirming testosterone test does not necessarily require buying another full $129 panel; ask what will be ordered and billed. 11 16

What will actually leave my account in the first year?

Annualized means monthly price × 12. It does not mean 12 monthly payments. Both providers collect more than one month upfront, and prepaid purchases can extend beyond your first anniversary. 1 9

For example, five purchases of a nominal 2.5-month supply cover 12.5 months. At TRT Nation's advertised rate, that would be about $1,250 before labs if each purchase used the same rate. That is a payment example, not a verified refill calendar: prescription quantity, actual days supplied, renewal timing and rounding still matter.

For a complete first-year cash total, add every payment due in the first 365 days, then add all required charges not included in those payments. Do not add included labs or visits twice. Ask each clinic for the payment dates as well as the amounts; the written-quote checklist below covers both.

A Cost Plus price list worth asking about

Cost Plus TRT's "Build Your TRT Plan" page lists a separate price list:

  • Labs: $49
  • Provider visit: $91
  • Testosterone: $78.19 per quarter

Those prices don't match the $89 and $119 plans. The page doesn't say who can use them, how much testosterone a "quarter" includes, or whether supplies and shipping are covered. If you can use that path, it could cost less than either plan. Ask before you pay. Do not assume the $49 entry is the charge for every later test on a TRT plan. 3

What will I pay before my first dose?

Cost Plus TRT posts a $297.50 initial payment for a new patient, with the specified labs included. TRT Nation's advertised figures imply about $378.98 for its lab panel plus a minimum testosterone purchase, but that is our calculation, not a verified checkout bill. Both companies charge for more than one month at the start, so this first payment matters if money is tight. 1 9 11

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation table 4: What will I pay before my first dose?
Your situation Cost Plus TRT: posted initial payment TRT Nation: calculated minimum treatment purchase plus listed labs
New, needs labs $297.50 (2.5 months, specified labs included) About $378.98 ($129 + about $249.98)
On TRT, own accepted labs $178 (2 months) About $249.98, before any outside-lab costs
On TRT, needs labs $238 (2 months, initial labs included) About $378.98 ($129 + about $249.98)
On TRT + prescribed hCG No published comparable package $579 ($129 + $450), calculated before other charges

TRT Nation's first medication charge is our math: 2.5 months × $99.99 = $249.98 when rounded to cents. Its page shows the monthly rate and the 2.5-month minimum, not a checkout total.

The table does not establish that all payments happen together or before the clinical decision. Confirm the payment sequence, applicable state pricing and what is refundable if treatment is declined.

Two things to know before you click "buy" at TRT Nation:

  • Labs are their own checkout. Its lab-order form warns that you can't change your lab company (Labcorp or Quest) after you pay.
  • Confirm your state first so you don't buy labs for a treatment service that cannot accept you. A lab-order form is not a clinical-access guarantee. 11

Is either one right for your situation?

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.

Find My TRT Path is educational. It doesn't diagnose anything, decide eligibility, or guarantee a prescription.

Does Cost Plus TRT or TRT Nation serve my state?

Cost Plus TRT names 16 states; TRT Nation's homepage excludes six, implying coverage in 44. Based on those published statements, TRT Nation lists 28 states beyond Cost Plus's list. These are provider-stated service areas, not independent confirmation that a clinician can accept you there today. 7 8

This is the one fact that settles it for a lot of readers, so check it before buying labs.

Not covered by these published lists (6) Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Missouri, North Dakota

Sources: Cost Plus TRT's Telehealth Consent and About page; TRT Nation's homepage FAQ, which lists the six states it doesn't serve. This table covers the 50 states, not the District of Columbia or U.S. territories. 5 7 8

Two wrinkles to know about:

  • Cost Plus TRT's own pages disagree. Its FAQ says it serves "most US states." Its About page and consent form name 16. We go by the 16, because that's the list in the consent form.
  • A state appearing in an order form would not settle treatment access. TRT Nation's homepage excludes Missouri and North Dakota. We did not confirm a current exception for either state; ask before buying anything. 4 7 8

Why there's no workaround: Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance. That's a federal category for drugs with real medical uses and some potential for misuse, and it requires a valid prescription. The clinician has to be allowed to treat you in the state where you are during your visit. Using a friend's address isn't a loophole. It's a problem. 20 30

Not covered by either published list? These alternatives' public pages were checked October 15, 2026:

  • Male Excel does not list Missouri or North Dakota among its excluded states. Confirm access before paying. Its state limits are on its official FAQ; our Male Excel profile covers its costs and limitations. 26
  • Hone Health lists Missouri for its men's programs, but Hawaii only for its men's Plus program—not its men's Premium program. Check the exact service, testing and medication available through that membership. See Hone Health's program-by-program availability → 15
  • Alabama, Alaska or Arkansas: the published men's-service lists checked here do not establish access through these alternatives. Start with a primary care doctor or urologist near you rather than assuming a lab purchase unlocks online treatment.

You can also compare the options and limitations on our Cost Plus TRT alternatives page.

Is a one-year-old company safe to choose?

Cost Plus TRT announced its launch in October 2025, and we found few independent patient reviews to assess. That's a real tradeoff for a reader who wants a long public record. Company age and a posted lab list cannot establish that either clinic is safer or follows guidelines more closely. 22

Here's the honest version.

Cost Plus TRT does not have a long track record. If a longer documented business history is your top priority, TRT Nation is the stronger match. TRT Nation identifies Nation Medical Inc. in its privacy policy, and Florida's corporate record shows an active company filed on September 19, 2019. That establishes business history, not the quality of every clinical encounter. 23 24

Cost Plus's counterweight is the $119 new-patient plan: your first labs, a 10-week recheck, and a live visit with a clinician every six months. TRT Nation charges separately for labs, but says consultations are included—not sold separately. 1 13

There's a second difference that's easy to miss. Cost Plus asks for one test TRT Nation's advertised panel skips. If you bring your own labs, Cost Plus requires LH. More on why that matters below. 3 11

Young doesn't mean careless. It means you should check a few things in writing before you pay:

  • Ask who your prescriber is. Cost Plus's About page describes its founder and medical director, Jon Snipes, MD, as a double board-certified addiction psychiatrist. The same page also calls him "Board-Certified Internal Medicine." Ask who will actually prescribe for you, then look up that person's license on your state medical board's website. 5
  • Get add-on prices first. Cost Plus says "No hidden fees. Ever.," but it doesn't post plan-specific prices for doses above 160 mg a week, estrogen blockers, extra labs, or its fertility add-ons. That 160 mg figure is a billing limit, not dosing advice. 2 3
  • Use the right phone number. Its Terms of Service list 1-888-555-0123, a placeholder-style number. Its site footer lists 720-291-8485. Use the footer number. 6

What are you giving up with TRT Nation's lower sticker price?

TRT Nation's $99.99 doesn't include labs. You buy at least 2.5 months at a time, and its broad no-refund policy sits alongside a more generous post-consult refund statement. In return, you get a broader published service area, a posted hCG price, and a longer documented business history. 9 11 12 13

Here's what each tradeoff means for you:

  • You prepay in 2.5-month blocks. TRT Nation's price card says "2.5 months minimum purchase." Its cancellation policy says you'll be charged for the full 2.5-month period. Its April 2026 cost article says "no contracts" and "no prepayment traps." Both can be true at once. There's no long contract, but the minimum purchase still requires more than one month's payment. 9 12 13
  • Refunds depend on which page you read. The cancellation policy reserves the right to refuse refunds and returns on all purchases. The cost article says you'll get a full refund if you and the provider decide after your consult that treatment isn't right for you. Get the refund terms for your exact payment in writing before you pay. 12 13
  • The pharmacy description does not identify your drug. TRT Nation's FAQ says its medications come from "licensed U.S. compounding pharmacies." The same cost article calls them "FDA-registered pharmacies." Registered isn't the same as approved (see the medication section below). Neither description establishes the approval status of the exact product dispensed to you. 10 13 17
  • Included consultations are not a promised visit length. Ask how long visits last, how you request one and who answers between appointments. We did not measure consultation length or support response times. 10 13
  • You need to be 24 or older. TRT Nation says it only treats patients 24 and up. Cost Plus TRT's Terms set the minimum at 18. Neither age rule tells you whether treatment is right for you. 6 11

Which one follows the medical guidelines more closely?

The public lab lists do not support naming a clinical winner. Cost Plus TRT requires LH in outside labs, while TRT Nation's advertised $129 panel omits it. But TRT Nation's April 2026 article explicitly says it requires two separate morning testosterone tests, and neither clinic's marketing proves what happens in every patient's evaluation. 3 11 13

First, a few terms:

  • Total testosterone: all the testosterone in your blood. This is the main number.
  • LH (luteinizing hormone): a signal from the brain telling the testes to make testosterone. It helps a doctor figure out why testosterone is low, which can change the treatment.
  • Hematocrit: the share of your blood made of red blood cells. Testosterone can raise it, so it gets checked.
  • PSA (prostate-specific antigen): a prostate-related blood test; testing depends on age, risk and discussion with your clinician. 16 27

The Endocrine Society says testosterone deficiency is diagnosed when two things are true:

  1. You have compatible symptoms or signs.
  2. Your testosterone is consistently low, confirmed with repeat early-morning blood tests, not just one.

Its guideline specifies repeat morning fasting total testosterone measurements using accurate assays, with free testosterone testing when appropriate. It also calls for checking why testosterone is low. No single number diagnoses you. 16

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation table 6: Which one follows the medical guidelines more closely?
Testing question Cost Plus TRT (own-labs requirement) TRT Nation ($129 panel and published process)
Total testosterone Listed Listed
A second, confirming early-morning test Separate diagnostic repeat testing and its inclusion are not stated Cost article says two separate morning tests are required; second-collection pricing is not stated
LH, to help find the cause Required in supplied labs Not included in the advertised panel; may need a separate order
Hemoglobin and hematocrit Hemoglobin listed; hematocrit not expressly listed in that upload requirement CBC listed; a complete blood count includes these red-cell measures 31
PSA Listed Listed on the order form; other pages describe age-based use
Estradiol Not listed in the upload requirement Listed
Acceptance age for outside labs Within the last 6 months Homepage says up to 6 months; FAQ says typically within 120 days

This compares a transfer-lab upload requirement with a purchased panel and published process. It does not establish Cost Plus's full purchased-panel contents or either clinician's complete protocol. 3 8 10 11 13

Testosterone treatment itself can suppress LH, so an LH result collected during treatment is not the same as a pretreatment evaluation. Having LH on a transfer checklist does not, by itself, make a clinic's diagnosis or monitoring better. 16 27

TRT Nation also emphasizes symptoms and clinical judgment in its marketing. Symptoms matter, but that wording does not remove the need for appropriate repeat testing or prove that it uses a different diagnostic standard. Ask how the clinician will establish the diagnosis and check the cause. 10 13 16

Our take: For a new evaluation, ask your clinician about the confirming early-morning test and its cost before committing to treatment. It may be covered by your insurance through your own doctor. Already on prescribed TRT? Have the receiving clinician review your original records and current monitoring; do not change treatment to recreate diagnostic tests. Our guide on whether you need two low testosterone tests explains why.

Discuss these with an appropriate clinician before choosing a routine online program:

  • A result your clinician considers very low, or concern about pituitary or testicular disease
  • Breast growth or tenderness
  • A history of prostate or breast cancer
  • High red blood cell counts
  • Untreated severe sleep apnea
  • A recent heart attack or stroke

These may require further evaluation or specialist care; a questionnaire cannot clear them. The Endocrine Society identifies several of these as reasons not to start testosterone without the necessary evaluation or treatment. 16

Chest pain, trouble breathing, or stroke signs: call 911. New leg swelling or pain: seek prompt medical assessment; call 911 if it comes with chest pain, breathing trouble or other emergency symptoms. 34 35

Is the testosterone FDA-approved or compounded?

The reviewed pages do not establish the exact testosterone product either clinic would dispense to you. TRT Nation says it uses U.S. compounding pharmacies, but a pharmacy's business type does not prove that every product it dispenses is compounded. Cost Plus TRT names testosterone cypionate without settling its exact manufacturer or approval status. 1 5 10

  • FDA-approved means the FDA reviewed that exact product for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality before it went on sale.
  • Compounded means a drug was prepared to meet a patient's medical needs, rather than being the FDA-approved finished product. The FDA says compounded drugs don't go through that pre-market review.

Compounded isn't automatically bad, but it isn't the same product as an FDA-approved one. And a pharmacy being "licensed" or "FDA-registered" doesn't make what it mixes FDA-approved. FDA-approved testosterone cypionate products do exist; that does not establish that either advertised plan supplies one. 17 27

Provider sources: 1 5 10 13. Approval distinction: 17 27.

Cost Plus says its medications come from "DEA-licensed, state-inspected U.S. pharmacies" and are "never compounded overseas." Those are provider statements, not licenses we independently checked. Its plan page describes compounded enclomiphene and says gonadorelin formulations are compounded under section 503A when applicable. Neither statement settles the status of its testosterone. 1 5

Ask both companies: "Is my testosterone an FDA-approved product or compounded, and which pharmacy fills it?"

Need insurance to pay or a specific FDA-approved product? Confirm the exact prescription, in-network care and pharmacy coverage first. The advertised cash-price packages do not establish those arrangements; an in-network primary care clinician, urologist or endocrinologist may be the better starting point. Use Find My TRT Path to compare that care route, not to determine medical eligibility.

The prices here compare injections. They do not establish access to a particular gel, patch, oral product or pellet. Our testosterone injections vs gel guide covers the treatment-format decision without treating compounded products as interchangeable with FDA-approved ones.

Which is better if you might want kids?

Testosterone therapy can lower sperm production, sometimes a lot, so settle your fertility plans before you start. A posted hCG package does not make TRT Nation the better fertility choice, and Cost Plus's other drugs are not substitutes for hCG. If you want a child soon, start with a urologist or fertility specialist, not either program. 16 28

Here's why. Testosterone from outside the body can suppress the hormone signals that drive spermatogenesis, which is sperm production. The Endocrine Society advises against starting testosterone in men planning fertility in the near term. That does not mean every person becomes infertile, and it does not promise recovery on a set timeline. 16

TRT Nation's testosterone-plus-hCG offer

TRT Nation: testosterone + hCG for $180 a month, with the same 2.5-month minimum. hCG acts like LH at the testes. It is a separate hormone treatment, not testosterone. 9 28

FDA-approved hCG products have specific indications. For example, the Pregnyl label includes selected cases of male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism—a problem with the signals needed for testosterone production. Adding hCG to ongoing TRT solely to preserve fertility is not that label's stated indication; it is an off-label use requiring a clinician's judgment. Ask which hCG product the bundle supplies. 28

Enclomiphene and gonadorelin are not TRT

TRT Nation also sells enclomiphene for $99.99 a month. That's a pill, not testosterone. It works by nudging your body to make more of its own. 9 29

Cost Plus TRT: gonadorelin (a dissolving tablet) and enclomiphene. Its plan page describes compounded enclomiphene and, when applicable, compounded gonadorelin formulations. It posts no prices for either. 1

Enclomiphene is not FDA-approved. Compounded enclomiphene and compounded gonadorelin preparations are not FDA-approved products. Do not confuse a compounded, unapproved drug with an off-label use of an approved drug; those are different issues. FDA evaluation for a compounding list is not drug approval. 17 29 32 33

None of these are the same drug, and none is "natural TRT." None comes with a fertility guarantee. TRT Nation's site describes enclomiphene as preserving fertility. Treat that as marketing until a fertility-focused clinician looks at your situation. 9

Trying to conceive soon, or unsure about future children? See a urologist or reproductive urologist before committing to a testosterone program. Ask whether a semen assessment or sperm banking discussion belongs in your plan. Our guide to how TRT affects fertility covers the questions to ask. 16

How do clinician visits and follow-up compare?

Cost Plus TRT includes a first visit, a live visit every six months, and secure messaging. TRT Nation offers consults by video or phone, messaging with its care team, and says consults are unlimited with no per-visit fee. Neither public description establishes how quickly you will get a reply or guarantees that every visit is with the same clinician. 1 10 13

Visit format Live online visits Video or phone as described in its FAQ; prescribing rules still apply
Scheduled visits First visit + every 6 months Cost article promises unlimited virtual consultations; ask which visits are scheduled automatically
Between visits Secure messaging Secure messaging with care team
Follow-up labs New-patient plan includes 10-week labs; later testing depends on the clinical plan FAQ describes 10-week, six-month and then annual checks; cost article instead describes six-monthly stable monitoring; the advertised panel is $129
Named medical lead Jon Snipes, MD, named by the provider; unresolved specialty-description conflict noted above No medical lead named on the pages reviewed
Support hours Not established on the pages reviewed Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern Time, as posted
Time to first medication Plan page says arrival within about 5 business days of approval FAQ describes processing and shipping time; cost article gives 7–14 days after consultation

The delivery clocks start at different events. These are provider estimates, not delivery times we tested. 1 5 9 10 13

Whichever company you pick, conflicting prescription instructions need clarification from the prescriber and dispensing pharmacist before you use the medicine. Do not choose between verbal instructions and a bottle label on your own.

Want a check-in every 60 days with the same provider? Male Excel advertises that follow-up model with its $99-a-month membership. Its published starting prices are higher than the two treatment bases compared here:

  • $99 to start (at-home lab test + consult)
  • $99 a month for the membership
  • An injectable-treatment package from $120 a month, billed every other month for a 60-day supply; the pricing page includes thyroid medication in that package

That produces a $2,727 annualized starting-price model: $99 + (12 × $99) + (12 × $120), before shipping and any other required charges. It is not a guaranteed complete first-year bill or a recommendation to use thyroid medication. Male Excel also emphasizes symptoms in its marketing; a proper testosterone-deficiency evaluation still requires compatible symptoms or signs and appropriate repeat low results. 14 25 16

Is consistent-provider follow-up your deciding factor? Read the Male Excel care model, costs and limitations → rather than choosing it on membership price alone. For a wider care-setting comparison, see online TRT vs a local clinician.

Can I cancel, and will I get money back?

You can end future purchases, but don't count on getting money back. TRT Nation charges for a minimum 2.5-month purchase and reserves the right to refuse refunds, while Cost Plus TRT generally excludes refunds for consultations already provided and limits medication refunds. TRT Nation's separate post-consult refund promise needs written clarification before payment. 6 12 13

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation table 9: Can I cancel, and will I get money back?
Cost Plus TRT TRT Nation
Long-term contract FAQ says none; cancel or pause anytime Says no contract, but a 2.5-month minimum purchase applies
Refills About page says you reorder when needed You request each refill; cancellation policy says it will not refill automatically
Refunds Consults generally not refundable once provided; medication only in limited circumstances Broad no-refund policy; cost article promises a full refund if the post-consult decision is that treatment is not a fit
Billing question still to settle Exact renewal authorization, dates and how to end future charges Exact payment authorization, order cutoff and scope of any refund exception
Medical-record access Privacy notice describes written requests to its Privacy Officer General website privacy policy does not establish the clinical record-release process; ask the treating practice for it
Dispute terms Texas law stated Florida stated

Sources: 4 5 6 12 13 21 24. A manual refill policy is not, by itself, proof that no other authorized charge can recur.

The smart move: cancel before you place your next order, not after. And get the refund terms for your specific payment in writing. Here's a line you can copy:

"Please confirm in writing what I get back if treatment is declined after my consult, if I cancel before my consult, or if the pharmacy can't fill my order."

Also request confirmation that future charges have ended. Keep it with your payment receipt and the terms that applied to that purchase.

How do I get my medical records?

Ask for your lab reports, clinical notes, diagnosis and current prescription information, plus any release fee and expected timing. Cost Plus's medical-privacy notice directs written requests to its Privacy Officer and lists support@costplustrt.com and 720-291-8485 for contact. Ask for the secure request process rather than sending sensitive records through ordinary email. For TRT Nation, request the release process from the treating practice; its general website privacy policy does not explain it. 21 24

Stopping a purchase isn't the same as stopping treatment safely. Talk to your clinician before you stop testosterone.

Should I switch from TRT Nation to Cost Plus TRT?

Cost Plus's $89 transfer plan has an annualized base about $132 below TRT Nation's $99.99 plan. That is a reason to compare quotes if you live in a listed state and can supply accepted labs, not a guarantee of total savings. Missing LH or another test does not automatically mean you must use the $119 plan; ask whether accepted supplemental outside results will meet the requirement. 1 3 9

If you're switching:

  1. Check your state against the 16 and confirm current acceptance.
  2. Check your labs. Cost Plus wants results from the last 6 months that include total testosterone, hemoglobin, PSA and LH. TRT Nation's standard panel doesn't include LH.
  3. Ask TRT Nation for your records before you leave.
  4. Plan continuity with both clinicians. Confirm the transfer appointment, records review, prescription responsibility and pharmacy timing. Do not decide when to change treatment based on using up a prepaid order.

Ask about refunds or unused purchases separately from the clinical handoff. A transfer can require new testing, and those costs can reduce the base-price saving. 3 11 12

Our guide on how to switch TRT providers walks through the full process.

Where do their own websites disagree?

We found eight policy or disclosure questions worth settling before payment. Some are direct contradictions; others are broad marketing statements that leave out a material limit. None of them is a scandal on its own; each one is a question to settle in writing before you pay.

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation table 10: Where do their own websites disagree?
# Company One page says Another says What to do
1 Cost Plus FAQ: serves most U.S. states About page and consent form: 16 states Use the named list, then confirm access 4 5 7
2 Cost Plus About bio: addiction psychiatrist Same page: board-certified internal medicine Check your actual prescriber's license and stated board certification 5
3 Cost Plus Footer: 720-291-8485 Terms: 1-888-555-0123 Use the footer number 6
4 Cost Plus Marketing says there are no hidden fees Plan-specific add-on prices are not posted; separate component prices do not explain all plan charges Get add-on prices in writing 2 3
5 TRT Nation Price card: 2.5-month minimum Cost article: no contracts or prepayment traps No long contract does not mean pay one month at a time 9 13
6 TRT Nation Cancellation policy reserves broad no-refund terms Cost article promises a full refund if treatment is not a fit after consultation Get your exact payment's refund terms in writing 12 13
7 TRT Nation FAQ: monitoring becomes annual after early checks Cost article: six-monthly checks once stable Ask for the actual testing calendar and its cost 10 13
8 TRT Nation Homepage: outside labs may be up to 6 months old FAQ: typically within 120 days Labs older than 120 days? Ask before paying for replacements 8 10

A price card, FAQ, blog post and legal policy do not necessarily describe the same transaction. Save the dated terms for the payment you actually authorize.

What do patients say?

TRT Nation displays a large review feed on its own website, while we did not find enough independent, attributable Cost Plus TRT patient reviews to assess a pattern. Reviews can tell you about billing, shipping and support. They can't tell you whether treatment is safe or will work for you. 9

The short-visit, hCG-price and conflicting-instruction comments in TRT Nation's displayed feed are reasons to ask about appointment access, total cost and prescription clarification. We could verify that the provider displayed those comments, but not the original reviewer accounts, purchasing history or any material relationship. We therefore do not present them here as authenticated patient testimonials or typical results.

We didn't find enough independent, attributable reviews of Cost Plus TRT to quote. Its October 2025 launch announcement supplies a date, not a substitute for patient-experience evidence. 22

Which one should you choose?

Choose by your situation, not the sticker price. Find your row below. Every pick is our editorial judgment, based on the facts checked on October 15, 2026.

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation table 11: Which one should you choose?
If you are… Our pick Why
New to TRT, clinically evaluated, in Cost Plus's listed states and want specified labs bundled Compare Cost Plus TRT first Initial and 10-week labs are included; get later costs before declaring it cheaper
On TRT, can supply all accepted labs, in its listed states Cost Plus TRT for the lower base price $89 vs $99.99 a month; compare outside-lab costs and extras too
New, but accepted labs have little out-of-pocket cost Compare both TRT Nation can retain its lower annualized base after extra costs
Outside Cost Plus's list but within TRT Nation's confirmed area TRT Nation Confirm actual access before buying labs
Already prescribed hCG and comparing package prices TRT Nation for the posted hCG price $180/month testosterone + hCG offer; exact product and fertility care still need review
Want the longer documented business history TRT Nation Its identified corporate entity was filed in 2019; that is not proof of better care
Seeking a new diagnosis after only one testosterone test Neither yet Discuss appropriate confirming morning testing and the cause with a clinician
Trying to conceive soon Neither yet See a urologist or fertility specialist
Need insurance payment or a named FDA-approved product Confirm an in-network or exact-product care route first The advertised packages do not establish that arrangement
In a state excluded by both published lists Local care or a separately confirmed alternative Do not buy labs as a workaround for provider access
Want frequent check-ins with the same clinician Compare written follow-up commitments Male Excel advertises 60-day same-provider reviews, at a higher published base; confirm what those check-ins involve

What should I ask before I pay?

Send these six questions to whichever company you pick and keep the answers in writing. The answers should identify what you will pay, who will treat you and what happens if the plan falls through. An unanswered question leaves part of the decision unresolved.

  1. Is my testosterone FDA-approved or compounded, and which pharmacy fills it? Include the exact product, manufacturer or compounder, and the pharmacy's state-license details.
  2. Who will prescribe for me, and what's their license number in my state? Confirm their authority for your location, how you reach them and whether follow-ups use the same clinician.
  3. Do you require a second early-morning testosterone test before treating me? If yes, is it included? For a transfer, ask which original records and current monitoring results are needed instead of assuming a new diagnostic workup.
  4. What does every add-on cost? That includes any clinically required prescription changes, estrogen blockers, later labs, and hCG or gonadorelin. Ask only about drugs your clinician considers appropriate; a package is not a reason to add one.
  5. What do I get back if I cancel after paying, or if I'm not approved? Include labs, consultation, medication, pharmacy delays and how to end future charges.
  6. For Cost Plus: can I use the $49 / $91 / $78.19 price list instead of a plan? For TRT Nation: do you serve my state, and how old can my labs be?

Save the reply with the date. If prices change later, you'll have proof of what you were told.

Copy or print this complete-cost checklist

Use the same checklist for both clinics. It builds on the tables above without treating an unknown charge as zero.

Cost Plus TRT vs TRT Nation table 12: Copy or print this complete-cost checklist
Quote item What the written answer needs to contain
Applicable plan New patient or transfer; accepted state; treatment format; standard price after any offer
First payment Exact amount, payment date and what happens if the clinician declines treatment
First 365 days Every expected order/payment date, amount and supply period—not just monthly price × 12
Diagnostic testing Accepted outside results; any separate confirming collection; exact test and collection fees
Later monitoring Planned dates and tests; which are included; prices for those excluded
Clinical access Included visits, extra-visit fees, same-clinician availability, response channel and escalation process
Medication and supplies Exact product and pharmacy; quantity billed; what is included; shipping, tax and any surcharge
Other prescribed treatment Each separate drug, its price and the clinical reason it is proposed
Refill and cancellation How to request refills, order deadlines, future-charge authorization and refund exceptions
Transfer and records Record-release contact, any fee, expected timing and who manages continuity of care

Two totals to request: the full first-365-day cash bill and the ongoing price after any initial offer. If a required charge cannot yet be quoted, keep it labeled unknown rather than comparing an incomplete subtotal with a complete quote.

Will online TRT still work after December 31, 2026?

The current federal temporary extension permits qualifying telemedicine prescribing through December 31, 2026. Under that extension, a DEA-registered practitioner may prescribe testosterone after an eligible audio-video visit without a prior in-person examination, subject to federal and state requirements. The extension does not settle what either clinic will require after that date. 18 19

Federal law generally requires an in-person medical evaluation before controlled-substance prescribing over the internet unless an applicable exception is met. The DEA and HHS have extended a pandemic-era exception four times. The current extension runs through the end of 2026. It still requires a legitimate medical purpose and compliance with state law. It's also not a blanket OK for phone-only testosterone prescribing.

The rule does not require a clinician to offer remote treatment or override an individual need for an examination. Being an existing online patient does not, by itself, establish an exemption from any future requirement. 18 19 30

What it means for you: if you enter care before the end of 2026, ask your clinic what changes on January 1 if the rule lapses or is replaced. Will you need an in-person visit? Where? Who arranges it, and is its cost included?

How did we compare Cost Plus TRT and TRT Nation?

We read the cited public price, plan, FAQ, lab, privacy and policy pages on October 15, 2026, and ran the same cost math for both. We kept four kinds of information separate: what an official record establishes, what the companies say about themselves, customer-experience signals, and our own judgment. This is a public-source comparison, not a hands-on review.

That's the method behind every TRT Provider Guide comparison, How We Review TRT Providers. We look at:

  • Clinical eligibility and the testing process
  • Clinician access and state availability
  • Treatment formats and medication and pharmacy transparency
  • Fertility handling and monitoring
  • Total cost, cancellation and support

We don't hand out scores, and being listed here isn't an endorsement.

We didn't buy treatment or test either company's support. No written support answer, checkout result or private medical record is claimed as evidence here. The calculated price models use the stated assumptions; missing individualized charges stay outside the subtotal, not silently at zero.

Our editorial standards explain how evidence is handled. To flag a changed price or policy, use our corrections page.

What else should I know about Cost Plus TRT and TRT Nation?

The remaining questions clarify the prices, access and product disclosures—not whether you personally need testosterone. Use the current plan terms and a clinician's evaluation rather than treating a website offer as medical approval.

Is Cost Plus TRT cheaper than TRT Nation?

Its $89 transfer plan has the lower annualized base: $1,068 versus $1,199.88, before each person's lab costs and extras. For a new patient, Cost Plus's base is $1,428 with initial and 10-week labs included. TRT Nation's base plus three purchased $129 panels is $1,586.88, but that scenario does not prove a complete-cost winner. It can come out cheaper when accepted labs and other extras cost less. 1 9 11

Is Cost Plus TRT legit?

Cost Plus TRT has a live treatment site, names its medical director and issued an October 2025 launch announcement. That is evidence of a public business presence, not independent verification of the clinician or pharmacy that would serve you. It has a short record, and some of its pages contradict each other. Check your actual prescriber's state authority and the dispensing pharmacy before paying. 5 7 22

Is TRT Nation legit?

TRT Nation identifies Nation Medical Inc. in its privacy policy; Florida's official record lists that company as active, filed in September 2019, with a Tampa address. That supports a longer business history, not a guarantee of treatment quality or an individual's prescribing authority. Its 2.5-month minimum and refund limits remain part of the decision. 12 23 24

Does TRT Nation include labs in the $99.99?

No. Its TRT lab panel costs $129 and lists total testosterone, CBC, CMP, estradiol and PSA. CBC means complete blood count; CMP means comprehensive metabolic panel. You can submit recent outside results for acceptance, but ask about the different age limits on its pages and the cost of any missing tests. 8 10 11

Does Cost Plus TRT include labs?

Its $119 plans include your first labs, and the new-patient plan also includes labs at 10 weeks. Later labs are add-ons without a confirmed plan-specific price. The $89 plan requires you to supply all your own labs. 1 2

What states does Cost Plus TRT serve?

Its Telehealth Consent lists Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington. Confirm current clinician availability for your location before paying. 7

What states does TRT Nation not serve?

Its homepage lists Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Missouri and North Dakota as excluded. Confirm current access with the clinic before paying. 8

Is TRT Nation's testosterone compounded?

Its FAQ says medications come from licensed U.S. compounding pharmacies, but that does not identify the exact product a pharmacy would dispense. Ask for the manufacturer or compounder and whether your prescription is for an FDA-approved product. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. 10 17

Which one offers hCG?

TRT Nation advertises testosterone plus hCG for $180 a month. No hCG offer was found on Cost Plus TRT's reviewed plan page; it lists gonadorelin and enclomiphene without prices. These are different drugs, and none guarantees fertility. 1 9 16 28

Do either take insurance?

The prices compared here are advertised direct-pay packages, not verified insurance benefits. We did not establish an in-network payment arrangement for either package. Coverage for separately ordered tests or a specific prescription depends on your insurer and the care arrangement; ask the insurer before assuming reimbursement. Need insurance to make care affordable? Start by finding an in-network clinician. 1 9

Can I pay for just one month?

Not under the listed testosterone-plan terms. Cost Plus TRT charges 2 or 2.5 months upfront depending on the plan, and TRT Nation's minimum testosterone purchase is 2.5 months. This does not describe the separate enclomiphene offer. 1 9

What's the minimum age?

18 at Cost Plus TRT under its Terms and 24 at TRT Nation. These are provider entry rules, not a diagnosis or a promise of a prescription. 6 11

Is Cost Plus TRT part of Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs?

The reviewed About page says it borrowed inspiration from Cost Plus Drugs. That's a description of its pricing model, not a statement of ownership. We did not establish an ownership relationship; do not treat the similar name as evidence of one. 5
