Labcorp Testosterone Test Reviews: Which OnDemand Test to Buy (and How to Make the Result Count)

Compare Labcorp OnDemand's Total and Comprehensive tests, repeat-purchase budgets, collection requirements and follow-up limits before choosing a self-pay test.

Educational resource
Evidence Cited

Labcorp testosterone test reviews come down to fit: Total costs $69 and Comprehensive costs $159 before discounts. Both use an in-person blood draw; Comprehensive adds calculated free testosterone, SHBG, and albumin. Confirm what your clinician needs before buying. One result cannot diagnose low testosterone, and the Total page leaves out the guideline's morning-fasting advice.

That missing step is below. So is the cost if your clinician needs a second test.

Prices right now: Labcorp is running a sale that started October 1, 2026. The Total test is $51.75 and the Comprehensive test is $119.25. The promotion terms we checked did not give a fixed end date. 6

Good fit if you:

  • Are age 18–100, were assigned male at birth, and want a blood test at a cash price without booking a separate visit for the order
  • Can get to a Labcorp location in the morning
  • Plan to share the result with a clinician

If you have no symptoms or other clinical reason to test, the Endocrine Society does not recommend routine screening for low testosterone. 25

Not the right tool if you:

  • Need insurance to pay (Labcorp OnDemand doesn't bill insurance)
  • Want a fertility workup — a testosterone test doesn't measure sperm
  • Have a sudden severe headache or a headache with new vision changes — seek emergency care 29
  • Expect the purchase to include a diagnosis or a treatment plan

This page is educational information, not medical advice. It can't tell you whether you have low testosterone or need treatment.

TRT Provider Guide is the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy — helping U.S. adults understand how low testosterone is evaluated, compare online and local care models and providers, and choose the next step that fits their health needs, fertility plans, budget, state, and care preferences, with every material claim verified and dated.

Labcorp testosterone test reviews: what's the verdict?

Labcorp OnDemand sells in-person testosterone testing at published cash prices. Its practical limits include thin prep guidance on the cheapest test, no promised free repeat for a low result, no insurance billing, and limited result support. Public customer reports can flag service problems, but they cannot establish the accuracy of these exact tests. 1 12 15 16

Here's how we'd sum it up, piece by piece.

Labcorp testosterone tests and follow-up options table 2: Labcorp testosterone test reviews: what's the verdict?
What we looked at Our take Why
Test quality Method needs confirmation Venous blood draw, processed in labs Labcorp says are CLIA-certified; the Total and Comprehensive retail pages do not identify the exact assay
Price clarity Clear displayed price Labcorp says the lab draw and ordering-provider fee are included; check the final checkout total
Speed Short stated estimate About one day after your sample reaches the lab (7–10 days for the women's LC/MS-MS test); provider estimates, not guaranteed deadlines
Prep guidance ⚠ Weak spot The $69 test says no special preparation. The Endocrine Society recommends a morning, fasting test for diagnosis
Diagnosis-ready on its own ✘ No Guidelines require consistently low morning results plus symptoms or signs, judged by a clinician
Help understanding your number ⚠ Limited Result support depends on the applicable ordering-provider agreement. It is not ongoing diagnostic or treatment care
Insurance ✘ No Labcorp OnDemand is self-pay only

Our editorial verdict: a convenient testing purchase, incomplete diagnostic guidance. Confirm the test and preparation with the clinician who will use the result. 25

Total vs. Comprehensive: which Labcorp testosterone test should you buy?

The $69 Total Testosterone Test fits an order that calls for total testosterone alone. The $159 Comprehensive Testosterone Test adds information that may help when total testosterone is near the lower limit or a condition changes SHBG, such as obesity, diabetes, thyroid or liver problems, or older age. Ask your clinician which test and method answer your question before buying. 1 2 26

What total testosterone, free testosterone, and SHBG mean

Think of testosterone in your blood like cash in three places.

  • Total testosterone is all of it.
  • SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin) is a protein that grabs testosterone and holds on tight. Changes in SHBG can affect how a total-testosterone result is interpreted.
  • Albumin is another protein. It holds testosterone loosely.
  • Free testosterone is the small share that isn't attached to a protein. Free testosterone plus testosterone loosely bound to albumin is often called bioavailable testosterone. 28

Here's why that matters. Two men can have the same total number but very different free levels if one has high SHBG. The Endocrine Society's guideline says that when total testosterone is near the lower limit, or when someone has a condition that changes SHBG, a free testosterone level should be checked — measured by equilibrium dialysis or estimated with an accurate formula. 26

The Comprehensive test takes the second route. Labcorp measures your total testosterone, SHBG, and albumin, then calculates free testosterone from those three numbers. An accurate calculation is an accepted approach in the right clinical setting, but we did not establish the exact formula used for this product. It's just not a direct measurement. 26 2

One heads-up so you're not confused at checkout: the Comprehensive page has an FAQ answer that says "our test does not measure free testosterone." That wording does not establish that the panel lacks a free-testosterone result. The Comprehensive test does report free testosterone — calculated, not measured directly. 2

Is the Men's Health Test a smarter first buy?

Sometimes. For $219 ($164.25 on sale), you get total testosterone plus a complete blood count (which includes hematocrit, the share of your blood made up of red blood cells), a metabolic panel, cholesterol, an A1c diabetes check, and a urinalysis. It requires a 12-hour fast. Follow the test's current instructions and ask your clinician how to prepare. 3

Some of these tests, such as hematocrit, can be part of a clinician's evaluation before testosterone treatment. The panel is not a complete treatment-clearance workup. 26 What it doesn't include: free testosterone, PSA (prostate-specific antigen, a prostate blood test), or LH. If your clinician wants those wider tests, the bundle may be useful. If the requested test is total testosterone alone, the $69 test costs less.

What about the $583 Custom Male Hormone Test?

Labcorp describes this as a nine-hormone panel, including testosterone, estradiol, and thyroid markers. It's $489 on sale. It makes sense when a clinician wants those markers in one draw; a larger panel is not automatically a better first purchase. Custom also reports calculated free testosterone, but its page does not establish the exact formula. 5

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to compare online TRT programs if that is the care route you are considering, and use the questions in this guide before you pay.

Answer 5 quick questions in Find My TRT Path → Educational, not a diagnosis. The tool does not decide whether treatment is right for you.

How much does a Labcorp testosterone test cost — really?

The Total and Comprehensive tests cost $69 and $159 at regular price, or $51.75 and $119.25 in the sale checked October 22, 2026. If a clinician needs repeat testing, the two-purchase examples below cost $138–$318 at regular price before other care costs. These are test-purchase scenarios, not a required schedule or a complete first-year care budget. 1 2

Labcorp's support pages say the lab draw is included and there's nothing extra to pay at the lab. The ordering provider's fee is built in, too. Its promotion terms exclude physician fees from discounts, so check the final checkout total and any applicable tax; we did not test checkout. 10 11 7 15

A low first result may lead to a separately ordered repeat. Here's what different purchases look like with Labcorp's own displayed prices. 25

The repeat-testing cost table

Our math, using Labcorp prices checked October 22, 2026. Sale totals assume every item is bought at the displayed sale price; a later purchase may cost more. These subtotals exclude any additional checkout charges or tax.

Labcorp testosterone tests and follow-up options table 3: The repeat-testing cost table
Plan What you get Regular price Sale price
A. Total + Total Two total testosterone results $138 $103.50
B. Comprehensive + Total Free testosterone and SHBG once, total testosterone twice $228 $171.00
C. Comprehensive + Comprehensive Free testosterone twice $318 $238.50
D. Men's Health + Total General-health panel, plus total testosterone twice $288 $216.00
E. Plan D + LH test + PSA test Adds separately requested LH and PSA; not a complete pre-treatment workup $406 $304.50

Plan B costs $228 at regular prices if your clinician wants Comprehensive once and total testosterone again. A single calculated free result is not automatically enough for every evaluation. Your clinician still decides what to repeat. These are price scenarios, not a testing schedule.

Plan E adds the separately sold LH test ($49 regular; $36.75 observed sale) and PSA test ($69 regular; $51.75 observed sale) to Plan D. Neither is a universal add-on for every buyer. 8 9

What's not in any of these numbers: a clinician visit to go over the results, extra tests a clinician may order, travel, and any later treatment.

Can you get a refund if you don't need the second test?

Yes, within limits. For in-person tests, Labcorp refunds your purchase minus a $20 fee as long as you haven't given a sample, and you ask within one year. After one year, the purchase is void. Once your blood is drawn, there's no refund. 14

You can wait to buy a second test until a clinician confirms what is needed. That avoids paying for an order you may cancel later.

Does insurance or an HSA cover it?

Labcorp OnDemand doesn't bill insurance. You pay yourself. Labcorp accepts HSA and FSA Visa or Mastercard cards for these tests, but your plan's own rules decide what counts, so check with your benefits provider if you're not sure. 12 13

Here's the honest tradeoff. Labcorp OnDemand does not bill insurance. If insurance is your priority, a test ordered by your own doctor is the better route, since your plan may cover part or all of it. OnDemand publishes a cash price, arranges an independent ordering professional, and sends the result to you. For a lot of men, that's exactly the point. If insurance matters most, our guide on where to get a testosterone test walks through the doctor-ordered route.

How to prep so your Labcorp result actually counts

For a diagnostic low-testosterone evaluation, the Endocrine Society recommends morning, fasting testing and a repeat to confirm a low result. Labcorp recommends 7–10 a.m. for Comprehensive, while the Total page says no special preparation is needed. Confirm the instructions for your exact order, including biotin and any prescribed medicines, with your clinician. 25 1 2

This is the most useful thing on this page, so we'll be blunt.

Testosterone is highest in the morning and drops through the day. The Endocrine Society's guideline recommends measuring fasting, morning total testosterone, then repeating it to confirm. ARUP Consult's clinical testing guidance also recommends morning collection and confirmation on a separate occasion. 27

Labcorp's Comprehensive page tells you to come in between 7 and 10 a.m. Its Men's Health page tells you to fast for 12 hours. But the $69 Total Testosterone page says "no special preparation is needed."

That's not wrong for running the test. It's just incomplete for using the result to answer the question you actually have. An afternoon or nonfasting result may differ from a morning fasting result and complicate interpretation. 26

For comparison, Quest's direct-to-consumer testosterone test page tells buyers to fast 8 to 12 hours and prefer a morning draw. 36

Your prep checklist

  1. Confirm the collection time. For a typical daytime sleep schedule, ask for a morning appointment; Comprehensive recommends 7–10 a.m. Tell your clinician if you work nights or sleep during the day.
  2. Confirm the fasting instructions. For diagnostic testing, ask how long to fast and how to manage medicines. Plain water is usually allowed. If fasting could be unsafe for you, arrange the plan with your clinician first. 25 28
  3. Check biotin instructions for the exact product. Comprehensive and Men's Health recommend waiting at least 72 hours after the last biotin dose because it can interfere with results. Ask your clinician before changing a prescribed supplement or medicine. 2 3
  4. Bring your requisition number and a photo ID. Labcorp emails the requisition after you buy. 19 44
  5. Use comparable collection conditions for a repeat. Ask to use the same laboratory and method when possible. ARUP Consult recommends the same laboratory for serial measurements. 27
  6. Note anything unusual. A rough night, a recent illness, or new medication — tell the clinician who reads your result. Ask whether to defer diagnostic testing during an acute illness. 26

Already taking testosterone?

Tell your prescriber exactly when you tested compared with your last dose. That timing changes what the number means. Also know this: The Total and Comprehensive products reviewed here report total testosterone up to 1,500 ng/dL. Above that, your result just says ">1500 ng/dL," and the Comprehensive test cannot calculate free testosterone accurately. 1 2 If your prescriber needs an exact high number, ask which test they want you to use.

Is the Labcorp testosterone test accurate?

Labcorp says its OnDemand tests are processed in CLIA-certified laboratories, but certification alone does not establish the accuracy of a particular result. The Total and Comprehensive retail pages do not identify their exact assay method. The separate $79 Total Testosterone Test for Women explicitly names LC/MS-MS; ask your clinician and Labcorp whether that product fits your testing need. 1 2 4 24

Labs measure testosterone two main ways:

  • Immunoassay. Uses antibodies to measure testosterone. Performance varies by assay, especially at low concentrations.
  • Mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS). Can offer better sensitivity and specificity at low concentrations when the method is properly validated. The specific assay and its calibration still matter. 22 26

The CDC's September 2026 list records certification for specific Labcorp LC/MS-MS procedures. Certification is method-specific and valid for one quarter; we could not match the Total or Comprehensive retail test to a listed procedure. Labcorp's clinical test catalog describes an LC/MS-MS assay for women, children, and hypogonadal men, but that is not proof that every OnDemand product uses it. 23 22

Here's what we found when we lined up Labcorp's consumer pages:

  • The Total and Comprehensive pages don't say which method they use.
  • The Total Testosterone Test for Women ($79) clearly says it uses LC/MS-MS. Its FAQ names men with hypogonadism (low testosterone caused by a problem in the testes or the brain's signals to them) among the people it may help, but that wording does not confirm an individual buyer's suitability or checkout eligibility. Results take 7 to 10 days instead of one.

What that means for you: Ask which method your clinician needs, particularly when a result is low or difficult to interpret. If mass spectrometry is requested, confirm the exact order with the clinician and Labcorp before buying. The product name alone is not enough. 4 26

Some review roundups get this wrong

A few "best at-home testosterone test" roundups list Labcorp's testosterone test as a finger-prick kit you do at home. It isn't. Labcorp's product pages say your blood is drawn in person at a Labcorp location. That's worth knowing before you buy; a venous draw alone does not prove assay accuracy. 45 46 1

Labcorp vs. Quest

Both are major national labs, and both sell testosterone tests directly. When we checked, Quest's total testosterone test was $69 plus a $6 physician fee ($75), with results in about 3 to 5 business days after sample collection. Tests purchased through questhealth.com are not available in Arizona, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico. Labcorp says it has no collection sites in Hawaii, Maine, or North Dakota.

Check the collection location, test method, and your clinician's requirements before choosing. If you need a repeat, ask about using the same laboratory and method. 36 37 19 27

What do Labcorp OnDemand customer reviews say?

The Trustpilot profile at pixel.labcorp.com showed 1.9 out of 5 from 23 reviews when checked October 22, 2026. It is labeled LabCorp and mixes general laboratory experiences with OnDemand reports, so it is not a rating of these exact testosterone tests. The reports can flag service problems, but they cannot establish test accuracy or typical results. 38

Examples in that mixed review set:

  • An OnDemand results page would not load. Reviewer Валентина Баранчук reported this twice in a December 25, 2025 review. If you cannot access your report, use Labcorp OnDemand support or call (800) 833-3935. 21
  • Check-in kiosks and invoice handling frustrated Isabella Johnson, in an April 19, 2026 review of broader Labcorp service. These were her reports, not a verified policy finding. 38

These are customer-experience signals, not verified medical findings. Complaints—or the absence of a particular complaint—cannot establish whether an assay is accurate.

Will your doctor see your Labcorp OnDemand results?

Do not assume your own clinician receives the report. The ordering-provider terms make you responsible for forwarding results and arranging follow-up. Download the PDF and send it yourself. 18 17

Three more things to know:

  • Anyone linked to your Labcorp Patient account can see all your OnDemand results. Check your linked accounts before you buy if privacy matters. 20
  • The ordering service is not your ongoing care team. Labcorp links agreements for both Enprovider Network and PWNHealth. Enprovider's consent describes one requested educational consult after an abnormal or critical result, with its cost included; PWNHealth's terms describe a requested post-test consult after results at no extra charge. The applicable agreement controls, and neither replaces ongoing care with your own clinician. 16 17 18
  • Do not wait for a call if you need care. Enprovider's consent says the care-coordination team may try to contact you about abnormal or critical results. You remain responsible for follow-up even if no call reaches you. 17

Can a Labcorp test diagnose low testosterone or get you TRT?

No single test can diagnose low testosterone. The Endocrine Society requires symptoms or signs plus consistently low testosterone, confirmed with repeat morning, fasting testing and interpreted by a clinician. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance in the U.S. and requires a valid prescription; a Labcorp test purchase does not include one. 25 31 32

A Labcorp result is a piece of evidence. It's not the whole case. Here's what the Endocrine Society's evaluation framework covers:

Labcorp testosterone tests and follow-up options table 4: Can a Labcorp test diagnose low testosterone or get you TRT?
What's needed Source
Symptoms or signs that fit low testosterone Endocrine Society
A morning, fasting total testosterone test using an accurate method Endocrine Society
A repeat morning, fasting test to confirm a low result Endocrine Society
Results interpreted with the appropriate assay, reference range, and clinical context; no single cutoff is a diagnosis Endocrine Society
Free testosterone when total is borderline or SHBG may be off Endocrine Society
LH and FSH when evaluating confirmed hypogonadism, to help distinguish testicular from pituitary causes Endocrine Society

Schedule III means federal law treats testosterone as a controlled drug with misuse potential. A Labcorp purchase doesn't come with a prescription, and no test result guarantees one. 32

What your two Labcorp results can do: give a clinician real numbers to work with, provided the clinician accepts the reports and the collection conditions meet the evaluation's needs. Bring both PDFs, a short list of your symptoms, and your medication list. For the full picture, see how low testosterone is diagnosed.

Thinking about kids in the next few years? Start here instead.

The AUA/ASRM male infertility guideline is direct: for men interested in current or future fertility, testosterone alone should not be prescribed. 30 Testosterone from outside the body can suppress the signals that drive sperm production. In some men, sperm production can drop sharply or stop. Recovery is not guaranteed on a set timetable. 30

A testosterone test doesn't measure sperm. If fertility matters to you, start with a urologist or reproductive urologist before any treatment decision. Our guide on TRT and fertility explains the options.

Your Labcorp result is back. What should you do next?

If your first result is low or borderline, ask a clinician what needs to be repeated and how to collect it. If you plan to use a clinic or online program, confirm whether it accepts outside results before buying more tests. A bundled assessment can have a lower entry price, but its testing, follow-up, and membership costs may differ.

Find your situation:

Labcorp testosterone tests and follow-up options table 5: Your Labcorp result is back. What should you do next?
Your situation Best next step
First result normal, symptoms mild Discuss persistent or concerning symptoms with a clinician, including sleep, medicines, weight, alcohol, and stress. A normal total result does not explain every symptom.
First result low or borderline Contact a clinician to plan repeat morning testing and decide whether free testosterone, LH, FSH, or other tests are needed.
Two low results plus symptoms See a clinician: primary care, urology, endocrinology, or a labs-first telehealth program.
Very low result Arrange prompt clinician review; some causes involve the pituitary gland and need further evaluation.
Sudden severe headache or headache with new vision changes Seek emergency care; do not wait for another testosterone test.
Fertility matters to you Urology or reproductive urology first.

Before you pay: ask one question

Will the clinician you plan to use accept a Labcorp OnDemand report? Some programs run their own labs no matter what you bring. If you already know where you're headed, ask them which test, method, and collection time they want, and how recent the report must be. That one question can help you avoid buying a test the clinician cannot use.

If you want the labs and a doctor's read in one step: Hone Health

If what you really want is a broader lab panel and a physician to talk it through, Hone Health's entry offer is built for that. Hone says $65 gets you a lab panel covering 50+ biomarkers plus a private telehealth consult with a licensed physician. Hone's detailed men's Premium page lists this $65 initial panel as an at-lab test. 39 40

Here's how it compares with buying Labcorp tests on your own. These are different purchase stages: the Labcorp column includes two purchases, while Hone's $65 is an initial assessment.

Labcorp testosterone tests and follow-up options table 7: If you want the labs and a doctor's read in one step: Hone Health

Displayed test-purchase price $228 regular / $171 sale for the two purchases $65 for the initial panel and consultation (provider-stated)
Confirmation A second total result is included in this two-purchase example; the clinician decides whether it is appropriate $25 at-lab if initial results suggest TRT eligibility; $90 for initial testing plus confirmation when needed (provider-stated)
What happens if you want treatment You find a clinician separately Hone's Premium plan is $155/month plus medication (provider-stated)

What to know before you click: Hone lists a $25 at-lab confirmation measuring total testosterone and prolactin when the initial results suggest TRT eligibility. Its physician still decides whether treatment is appropriate. At the published prices, $90 for initial testing and confirmation plus 12 months of Premium at $155 totals $1,950 before medication; that is not a complete treatment quote. Hone says follow-up labs and consultations are included in membership, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. 40

If you only want the specific test your clinician requested, Labcorp may be simpler. If fertility is a priority, start with a urologist instead.

If you have repeat results and want ongoing care: Male Excel

If your Labcorp results already show two low morning readings and you want ongoing, managed care, first ask whether the treating clinician will accept those reports. Male Excel is one program to investigate, with the limits below. Male Excel says its $99/month membership includes provider follow-ups every 60 days and full lab panels every 6 months. Medications are billed separately. Its pricing page also lists a $99 initial medical consultation. Twelve months of membership plus that consultation total $1,287 before medication, shipping, handling, or tax. Confirm the current test package and a complete written quote before paying. 41 43

What to know before you click — and these matter:

  • Its testosterone is compounded. Compounded medications are prepared by a pharmacy for an individual patient. Male Excel's own site says they are not FDA-approved. FDA also distinguishes compounded drugs from FDA-approved products. 41 35 If you want an FDA-approved brand product or want insurance involved, start with a doctor who can prescribe through your pharmacy plan instead. Our guide to low testosterone treatment options lays out the choices.
  • Its hormone-test page describes a 5-marker finger-prick kit processed in its own lab, while its homepage also advertises a 54-marker panel for members. Confirm which panel, sample method, and repeat-testing process your order includes. 42 41
  • Male Excel says its providers can prescribe before lab results arrive when they judge it clinically appropriate. Clinical guidance calls for diagnostic confirmation first. Two OnDemand results do not establish that Male Excel will accept them or that your full evaluation is complete. 41 25
  • Not available in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, or Rhode Island. 41
  • Not for you if you want to have children soon, or you don't want a monthly membership.
  • Before joining, confirm the exact prescription and pharmacy, shipment charges, and cancellation deadline. The $99 membership is not the complete cost of care. For the wider comparison, see our Male Excel review.

Online testosterone prescribing also depends on federal rules. As of October 22, 2026, DEA's temporary flexibility runs through December 31, 2026: DEA-registered practitioners may prescribe Schedule II–V medications through qualifying audio-video visits without a prior in-person examination, subject to applicable federal and state requirements. This does not guarantee eligibility or remove a clinician's or state's in-person requirements. 33 34

Have repeat results and want to compare ongoing care? Review Male Excel's testing, pricing and state limits →

If you'd rather use your own doctor or insurance

Bring both Labcorp PDFs to primary care or a urologist. Your doctor can decide whether the reports meet their needs or whether more testing is needed. If your plan covers testosterone testing when a doctor orders it, future tests may cost you less that way.

Who should skip the Labcorp OnDemand testosterone test?

Choose a different starting point if you need insurance billing, fertility care, testing for someone under 18, or prompt assessment of severe symptoms. The main Total and Comprehensive products are labeled for adults assigned male at birth, ages 18–100; women and people receiving gender-affirming care need a clinician to choose the appropriate test and interpretation. 1 2 28

Skip it — and here's where to go instead — if:

  • You need insurance to pay. OnDemand is self-pay. See where to get a testosterone test for the doctor-ordered route.
  • You're trying to conceive soon. Go to a urologist or reproductive urologist.
  • You have new headaches or vision changes along with low-T symptoms. Seek prompt clinical assessment; some causes involve the pituitary gland. A sudden severe headache or headache with new vision changes needs emergency care. 26 29
  • You're a woman or receive gender-affirming hormone care. Ask your clinician which test and reference range fit your care. The adult-male deficiency framework in this guide does not apply unchanged to everyone. 28
  • You're under 18. Labcorp OnDemand testosterone tests are for ages 18 to 100.
  • You live far from a collection site. Labcorp says it has no locations in Hawaii, Maine, or North Dakota. Check the Labcorp location finder and your state's options at checkout before you pay.
  • You want an at-home kit. These are in-person draws. Our guide to at-home vs. lab testosterone tests compares the two.

How we checked Labcorp's testosterone tests

We read the Labcorp OnDemand product pages discussed here, plus Labcorp's refund policy, support articles, and ordering-provider agreements. Then we compared the testing guidance with the Endocrine Society guideline and other cited clinical sources and built the cost tables from the displayed prices. We separate verified facts, provider-stated claims, customer-experience signals, and our own judgments.

What we actually verified — October 22, 2026

Checked directly on Labcorp's site: prices and the current sale, what each test measures, the prep text on each page, the 1,500 ng/dL reporting limit, collection method, result timing, HSA/FSA acceptance, age limits, the in-person refund policy, the no-insurance policy, the included collection and ordering fees, result-sharing responsibilities, collection-site gaps, and the Enprovider Network and PWNHealth terms.

Checked against: the Endocrine Society's testosterone therapy guideline; ARUP Consult's clinical testing guidance; the ASRM-hosted AUA/ASRM male infertility guideline; the CDC's September 2026 assay list; Labcorp's clinical test catalog; Quest's consumer testosterone page; and official FDA and DEA material.

Provider-stated, not independently tested: Labcorp's CLIA statement and turnaround times; Hone Health's and Male Excel's pricing, testing, and services.

Customer-experience signals: the mixed LabCorp profile at pixel.labcorp.com on Trustpilot, checked October 22, 2026. It is not a testosterone-test-specific sample.

Not established: which lab method Labcorp uses for its Total and Comprehensive tests; the exact formula behind the calculated free testosterone; when the sale ends; which ordering-provider agreement would apply to an individual order; whether any specific TRT program accepts OnDemand reports.

Not done: We did not buy a test, complete checkout, give a sample, test the results portal, or contact Labcorp support for this version.

Our full editorial method is How We Review TRT Providers. We have not assigned stars or a numeric score to these tests — on a medical decision, a made-up number hides more than it shows.

Labcorp testosterone test FAQ

Labcorp OnDemand lets eligible adults buy these tests for an in-person sample collection without a separate visit to obtain an order. The right purchase still depends on the information your clinician needs and how the result will be used.

How much is a testosterone test at Labcorp without insurance?

The Total Testosterone Test is $69 and the Comprehensive Testosterone Test is $159 at regular price, as of October 2026. During Labcorp's current sale, they're $51.75 and $119.25. The lab draw and ordering fee are included. 1 2 10 11

Do I need to fast for a Labcorp testosterone test?

Labcorp's $69 Total test page lists no special preparation. For diagnostic testing, the Endocrine Society recommends morning, fasting samples. Confirm the fasting and medicine instructions for your order with your clinician; the Men's Health Test lists a 12-hour fast. 1 3 25

What time should I get my testosterone tested at Labcorp?

Labcorp recommends 7–10 a.m. on its Comprehensive and Custom Male Hormone pages. Confirm the time with your clinician if you work nights, sleep during the day, or are monitoring prescribed hormones. 2 5

How long do Labcorp testosterone results take?

Labcorp says about one day after your sample reaches its lab for the Total, Comprehensive, and Men's Health tests. The women's LC/MS-MS test takes 7 to 10 days. 1 2 3 4

Does Labcorp OnDemand test free testosterone?

Yes. Comprehensive calculates free testosterone from measured total testosterone, SHBG, and albumin. Custom Male Hormone also reports calculated free testosterone, but we did not establish its exact formula. The $69 Total test doesn't include free testosterone. 2 5 1

Is Labcorp OnDemand legit?

Yes. It's Labcorp's own direct-to-consumer service. An independent provider signs the order, and blood is drawn at a Labcorp location. Customer reports describe service experiences; they cannot establish or rule out errors in a testosterone result.

Is the Labcorp testosterone test an at-home test?

No. The Labcorp OnDemand products reviewed here require in-person collection at a Labcorp location. Men's Health includes a urine sample as well as blood. 1 2 3

Can I use Labcorp OnDemand results to get TRT?

They can support an evaluation, but a clinician still needs two low early-morning results plus symptoms or signs, and testosterone requires a prescription. Ask any clinic or program whether it accepts outside Labcorp reports before you buy.

Will my doctor see my Labcorp OnDemand results?

Do not assume your own clinician receives the report. Download the PDF and share it; the ordering-provider terms make you responsible for arranging follow-up. 18 17

What does ">1500 ng/dL" mean on my Labcorp result?

For the Total and Comprehensive products, it means the level exceeds the stated reporting limit, so the report does not give an exact value. Labcorp says Comprehensive cannot calculate free testosterone accurately in that situation. Ask your prescriber which test to use if an exact value is needed. 1 2

Can I get a refund on a Labcorp testosterone test?

Yes, if you haven't given a sample. Labcorp refunds the price minus a $20 fee, if you ask within one year of purchase. There's no refund after your blood is drawn. 14

Does Labcorp OnDemand take insurance?

No. You pay directly. HSA and FSA Visa or Mastercard cards are accepted, subject to your plan's rules. 12 13

Does Labcorp offer an LC/MS-MS testosterone test?

Labcorp's $79 Total Testosterone Test for Women explicitly uses LC/MS-MS. Its page says it may also help men with low testosterone, with results estimated in 7–10 days from lab arrival. Ask your clinician and Labcorp whether this product fits your need; we did not establish a head-to-head accuracy comparison with the $69 test. 4
