That $1,179 published-rate gap is real. It's not the whole story.

These two companies run different blood panels. They add different extra medicines. They handle refunds in very different ways. And one detail on Male Excel's own lab-test page is worth knowing before you order its kit. We'll get there.

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.

What does Male Excel vs Henry Meds cost in a year?

At published starting rates, a 12-payment injection model is $2,727 before shipping and unpriced extras at Male Excel and $1,548 at Henry Meds. Male Excel’s extra cost comes mostly from its separate $99 monthly membership. Henry’s FDA-approved oral capsule model is $2,148 for 12 payments; none of these figures is a complete personal quote. Pricing sources · Henry rates

Neither company’s public starting price establishes your complete first-year bill. So we built a 12-payment model from their published prices.

The 12-payment cost table

Plan (starting price) Separate intake fee used in model Monthly-equivalent cost after start First-90-day cash-flow example 12-payment model
Male Excel — daily injection $99 $219 $876 $2,727 before shipping and extras
Male Excel — cream $99 $231 $924 $2,871 before shipping and extras
Henry Meds — compounded injection or cream $0 additional fee assumed, not a promise of $0 charged at signup $129 $387 $1,548
Henry Meds — KYZATREX capsule $0 additional fee assumed, not a promise of $0 charged at signup $179 $537 $2,148

How we got these numbers:

  • Male Excel injection: $99 + 12 × ($99 membership + $120 medicine) = $2,727
  • Male Excel cream: $99 + 12 × ($99 + $132) = $2,871
  • Henry injection or cream: 12 × $129 = $1,548
  • Henry KYZATREX: 12 × $179 = $2,148

Model assumptions: starting rates stay unchanged; Male Excel has 12 membership charges and six medication charges of $240 for injections or $264 for cream; Henry has 12 charges at the selected advertised monthly rate, with no separately quoted intake fee. Male Excel’s listed packages include thyroid medicine. Henry’s plan and exact prescription must be confirmed. These are not medically interchangeable packages. Male Excel · Henry

Why the first 90 days looks higher at Male Excel: the cash-flow example includes the $99 intake, three $99 membership payments, and two prepaid 60-day medicine shipments: $99 + $297 + $480 = $876, or $99 + $297 + $528 = $924 for cream. That buys 120 days of medicine, not just three months. The same three-month period allocated at the monthly-equivalent rates would be $756 or $792 including intake. The timing example is not a tested checkout or a confirmed personal billing schedule.

Not priced as zero: Male Excel shipping and handling, any required outside or extra tests, sample replacements, extra visits, and other charges not expressly included in your written plan. Henry advertises bundled labs and shipping, but its general terms allow charges unless included in the selected offer. Six 60-day supplies also cover 360 days, not a full 365-day year. Male Excel terms · Henry terms

We didn't count the $99 Male Excel kit twice. We didn't add shipping as $0 — Male Excel says it charges shipping, but doesn't publish the amount. And these are starting prices. They are not a quote for your prescription.

The gap: In these models, Male Excel’s injection plan costs $1,179 more than Henry’s across 12 payments. That’s about $98 a month. The cream gap is $1,323.

How the charges can land on your card

This matters more than the yearly total. Male Excel bills medicine in two-month chunks, so your charges can swing up and down. The example below assumes its membership and medicine charges start together; your dates may differ. Male Excel billing

Example timing Male Excel (injection, starting price) Henry Meds (starting-price monthly plan)
Sign-up $99 for the kit and consult — before any prescription Timing depends on the selected onboarding path; don’t assume $0
First treatment charge $240 for 60 days of medicine + $99 membership = $339, before shipping $129 at the advertised monthly rate
Month 2 $99 $129
Month 3 $339 before shipping $129
The model’s pattern Alternates $339 / $99, plus shipping on medicine orders $129 per monthly payment, if that is your agreement

Get the actual dates before payment. Henry’s signup-billing help article says the charge timing depends on the treatment line; neither a medicine supply interval nor this example establishes your renewal dates.

What Male Excel customers say they were actually charged

Starting prices and real invoices aren't always the same thing.

Male Excel's BBB complaint file, which we read on September 16, 2026, includes four complaints from March to June 2026 that list exact amounts. In each, the customer described a first medicine charge between $283.60 and $308.60, plus the $99 membership, right after the consult. That's more than the $240 starting price for 60 days.

These are customer allegations, not invoices we authenticated. The relevant records run from March through June 2026 in the first complaint page and second page. They do not establish what a typical patient pays.

Several of those customers said an ad had shown $49 or $79. Male Excel's own site lists $99 for the kit and consult. In its public replies, Male Excel said order totals vary with each patient's needs, and said it refunded the disputed charges in all four cases.

In the March 3 case, the customer later confirmed receiving the money back but still wanted confirmation that the account was closed. A refund and a completed cancellation are different questions. BBB record and company replies

The takeaway: Before you click "pay" in any patient portal, ask for the full invoice total. One customer said he clicked the pay button expecting to see an invoice first. He was charged immediately.

The $30 inside Henry's $129

Henry’s Terms of Service say $30 of its bundled billing is a medical consultation fee for each provider evaluation that produces a prescription. It isn’t an extra $30 added to the advertised $129. Henry’s consultation-fee terms

What the $30 changes is refunds. Once a clinician writes your prescription, that $30 can't be refunded, even if you never fill it. Henry may also subtract a processing fee from any refund it approves.

Watch the billing clocks

Monthly prices and medicine supplies don't always line up.

  • Male Excel bills medicine “every other month” for a “60-day supply.” Those phrases don’t establish the same calendar. A seventh fill could be needed near day 360 if supply and refills follow strict 60-day intervals; that is a scenario to ask about, not a verified seventh charge. Male Excel pricing
  • Henry Meds lists a monthly price. But its Programs document describes an injection allowance per 28 days, its TRT page says injection shipments come every 45 days, and its landing page says every 30, 60, or 90 days. An allowance or shipping interval is not a billing cycle. The documents do not support multiplying the $129 price into 13 annual charges. Programs · TRT page · Landing page

Ask each company for your exact billing dates in writing.

What the medicine alone costs

A pharmacy quote for an FDA-approved manufactured testosterone cypionate prescription is a drug-only price. You’d still need a prescriber, lab work, and follow-up care. Match the exact product, vial size, quantity and usable supply before comparing it with a subscription. FDA-approved cypionate labeling

Neither company publishes enough cost-accounting detail to say how much of your payment goes to the drug, clinical care, operations or profit. A low pharmacy price cannot answer that.

Male Excel costs more. Here's what the extra buys.

Male Excel does not bundle everything into one low monthly price. At starting rates its 12-payment model runs about $1,179 more than Henry Meds, and the example bills swing between roughly $339 and $99 before shipping. If the lowest published bill is your top priority, Henry Meds is the better starting point for a quote — and we earn nothing from telling you that. Male Excel · Henry

Male Excel charges for care separately from medicine and makes a specific membership promise: the same provider over time, a structured review every 60 days, unlimited e-visits with your provider, and a written promise to refund your first three months of membership fees if you meet its guarantee terms and don’t improve. Its treatment model also uses a daily low-dose routine. Henry’s ordinary subscription refund terms focus on loss of medical eligibility, not satisfaction, with other limited exceptions. Male Excel care · Guarantee terms · Henry terms

That's a different care setup. It isn't proof of better medical results. If it's the setup you want, the extra money has a clear purpose.

Who should skip both Male Excel and Henry Meds for now?

Skip a testosterone-treatment commitment for now if low testosterone hasn’t been properly evaluated, you want to have a baby soon, or you have a condition that needs specialist review. Testosterone can lower sperm production. Primary care, urology, endocrinology or reproductive urology may be the better starting point; a program’s evaluation is not the same as agreeing to treatment. Endocrine Society guidance

We'd rather lose your click than point you the wrong way.

If you want kids in the near future

Testosterone from outside your body can shut down your own sperm production. The Endocrine Society recommends against starting testosterone therapy in men planning fertility in the near term. The AUA says men with testosterone deficiency who care about fertility should have a reproductive health check before treatment. AUA guideline, statement 10 · Endocrine Society

Both companies mention this on their sites. Both also sell pills that work differently from testosterone — more on those below. A general TRT plan is not a substitute for a fertility evaluation. Nobody can promise that a pill protects or restores fertility. AUA guideline

If a baby is in your plans, start with a urologist or reproductive urologist.

Understand the fertility-first care route →

If your low T hasn't been confirmed

The AUA says low testosterone should be diagnosed only after two total testosterone tests, on separate days, both taken early in the morning. It calls a level below 300 ng/dL a reasonable cutoff. It also requires compatible symptoms or signs. A single number doesn’t make a diagnosis. The cutoff supports clinical evaluation; it is not a universal diagnosis for every lab, patient or situation. AUA guideline, statements 1–3

If you haven’t had that evaluation, arrange it first—through a suitable local clinician or a program that can complete the proper workup. The Endocrine Society specifies repeat morning, fasting testing with accurate assays. Here’s how TRT blood tests work. Guidance

If you have one of these conditions

The Endocrine Society’s 2018 clinical guideline, still listed on its guideline site, recommends against starting testosterone if you have:

  • Breast or prostate cancer
  • A prostate lump, or a PSA above 4 ng/mL (or above 3 if you're at higher risk) that hasn't been checked by a urologist
  • A high hematocrit (too many red blood cells)
  • Severe sleep apnea that isn't being treated
  • Severe urinary symptoms
  • Heart failure that isn't under control
  • A heart attack or stroke in the last 6 months
  • Thrombophilia, a condition that makes blood clots more likely

Those need clinical review first, with an in-person examination or specialist care when needed. This is not a lifetime ban for every person with a past diagnosis. In June 2026, FDA requested narrower prostate-related labeling, including limiting the prostate-cancer contraindication to metastatic disease; that request does not replace a urologist’s assessment or establish that each product label has changed. How do Male Excel and Henry Meds test for low testosterone?

Male Excel’s published at-home kit lists testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, Free T3, and PSA—not a blood count. Henry’s TRT help center lists a Quest panel with total testosterone, a complete blood count, LH, PSA, and a metabolic panel. Neither published list confirms that every patient gets the needed repeat early-morning testing or that every extra test is included. Male Excel kit · Henry tests

This is a detail a headline price can’t settle. It matters for safety.

What the rules say

A few quick definitions first:

  • Total testosterone is all the testosterone in your blood.
  • Hematocrit is the share of your blood made of red blood cells. Testosterone can raise it. It's part of a CBC (complete blood count).
  • PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is a blood marker used in prostate assessment. It does not diagnose cancer on its own.
  • LH (luteinizing hormone) is a brain signal that tells the testicles to make testosterone. It helps show why testosterone is low.
  • CMP (comprehensive metabolic panel) checks things like kidney and liver function and blood sugar.

AUA’s published guideline and Endocrine Society guidance explain the role of testosterone, blood-count, prostate and hormone testing in the evaluation.

Now the rules:

  • AUA: Diagnose low testosterone only after two early-morning total testosterone tests on separate days, plus compatible symptoms or signs. Measure hemoglobin and hematocrit before offering testosterone. Check PSA in men over 40 before treatment. Statements 1–3, 11–12
  • Endocrine Society (2018 guideline): Confirm low testosterone by repeating a fasting morning test, alongside compatible symptoms or signs and accurate measurements. In a July 16, 2026 statement, the society reaffirmed that treatment shouldn’t be based on symptoms alone and that the diagnostic framework applies across adult ages. Guideline · 2026 statement
  • KYZATREX prescribing information: before starting, confirm that morning testosterone was measured on at least two separate days and was below normal. This is the named FDA-approved capsule in Henry’s offer, not proof that no other manufactured testosterone could be dispensed. Label, section 2.2

Henry’s full panel comes from its required-tests article, updated February 20, 2024 and still public when checked. Its TRT landing page separately lists total testosterone, a CBC, and a PSA. The other rows use Male Excel’s kit, FAQ and program, plus Henry’s outside-lab, lab-order and refill articles. These are published processes, not verified individual medical records.

Henry’s general terms also describe home-collection services for some care. That does not establish that every required TRT test can be done at home. Ask which collection method applies to your TRT order. Henry terms

The detail on Male Excel's lab page

Here's the one we promised.

Male Excel's test page lists five markers, and a CBC isn't one of them. That means hematocrit — the red-blood-cell number the AUA says to check before starting testosterone — isn't on the list it publishes.

A company can order tests it doesn't list. So this doesn't prove Male Excel never checks it. It does mean we cannot call a CBC included on the strength of the advertised kit. Hematocrit can also be ordered separately. Male Excel’s published panel · AUA baseline testing

Ask Male Excel before you pay: "Where is my hematocrit checked before I start, and how often after?"

Two different ideas about "low"

Male Excel says it treats based on symptoms, not lab numbers alone. Its daily-versus-weekly article says it aims for testosterone levels of 800 to 1,100 ng/dL. That is the company’s stated treatment target, not a diagnosis threshold, a universal normal range, or a target to use on your own. Male Excel’s statement

That approach may appeal to men who’ve been told their levels are “normal for your age.” You should know it’s a different target from the Endocrine Society’s. The society suggests aiming for the middle of the normal range during treatment. Red-blood-cell monitoring is needed regardless of a provider’s preferred target or schedule. Endocrine Society guideline

We did not find a numeric treatment target in Henry’s public TRT offer or Programs document. Henry offer · Programs

Ask both: "What level are you aiming for, and why?"

Ask about the first follow-up—not just the six-month kit. AUA guidance calls for an initial treatment-level check after an appropriate interval, then ongoing testing. KYZATREX’s label calls for hematocrit checks about every three months and periodic blood-pressure checks. Ask who orders each test, who reviews it, and what happens when a result needs prompt attention. AUA follow-up statements · KYZATREX monitoring

What testosterone do you actually get — FDA-approved or compounded?

Henry Meds advertises compounded testosterone injections and cream from $129 a month, plus FDA-approved KYZATREX capsules for $179 outside California. Male Excel describes its testosterone as U.S.-compounded, but its injection page does not identify the dispensed product. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved; the non-testosterone pills both companies list belong in a separate category. Henry offer · Male Excel · FDA

FDA-approved vs. compounded, in plain words

An FDA-approved drug has passed FDA review for safety, effectiveness, and how it’s made for its approved use. A compounded drug is prepared to meet a patient’s medical need. The FDA doesn’t approve compounded products before they’re sold. A compounded preparation is not an FDA-approved generic, and it is not proven equivalent or safer. FDA’s compounding explanation

The AUA’s published guideline conditionally recommends commercially manufactured testosterone rather than compounded testosterone when possible. That is a product-quality recommendation, not a statement that every patient should take testosterone or that every manufactured format is a fit. AUA guideline, statement 28

A few facts about KYZATREX, from the prescribing information revised August 2026 on DailyMed: it’s approved for adult men with testosterone deficiency linked to the conditions listed in the label. That displayed label still says safety and effectiveness for “age-related” low testosterone haven’t been established. Its boxed blood-pressure warning was removed in July 2025; blood-pressure increases remain a warning. KYZATREX label, sections 1 and 5.4

There is a newer class-wide labeling request to know about. In June 2026, FDA requested removal of the age-related limitation and revisions to prostate-cancer and enlarged-prostate language. A requested revision is not proof that every posted product label has changed. We found the age-related limitation still in this August KYZATREX label; ask the prescriber to use the latest applicable prescribing information. Male Excel Triclozene A pill — not testosterone $95 or $120/month both appear on the pricing page, plus membership. The pricing page says clomiphene; the product page says enclomiphene.
Henry enclomiphene A compounded capsule — not testosterone Listed as a separate $129/month program, not a confirmed extra included with a testosterone prescription

Male Excel pricing · Triclozene product page · Henry Programs

Male Excel's Triclozene and Henry's enclomiphene work differently. They're meant to push your body to make more of its own testosterone. They are not testosterone replacement.

  • Enclomiphene is not FDA-approved for any use.
  • Clomiphene is FDA-approved for ovulation problems in women. Using it in men is off-label.
  • Male Excel's pricing page calls Triclozene "clomiphene citrate," but its product page calls it "enclomiphene citrate." Those are different drugs. Ask which one you'd get.

The approval distinction is documented by the U.S. military’s Operation Supplement Safety, with FDA materials in its references. “Off-label” means an approved drug is being prescribed for a use outside its approval; it does not make standalone enclomiphene an FDA-approved drug. Neither is a nonprescription supplement.

Neither pill can guarantee preserved or restored fertility. AUA fertility guidance

The add-ons: thyroid at Male Excel, anastrozole at Henry

Male Excel includes desiccated thyroid in its listed starting packages. Its pricing cards show thyroid tablets with both the injection and the cream. A few things to know:

  • The American Thyroid Association says the standard treatment for an underactive thyroid is levothyroxine. It doesn’t recommend desiccated thyroid as a first choice, though some patients may choose it with their clinician. ATA statement
  • Animal-derived desiccated thyroid products are not FDA-approved. FDA’s current notice describes planned guidance and risk-based enforcement. It also says these animal-derived thyroid products are not eligible for compounding under the usual drug-compounding provisions because they are biological products. That does not establish what Male Excel dispenses; ask for the exact product and manufacturer. Current FDA notice
  • Male Excel's own safety information warns that thyroid hormone shouldn't be used for weight loss in people whose thyroid works normally. Provider safety information
  • Male Excel’s kit measures Free T3. It doesn’t list TSH, generally the first test used to check thyroid function. The absence from that kit does not prove TSH is never ordered. Kit · ATA thyroid tests

Ask Male Excel: “What test shows I need thyroid medicine? What’s my TSH? What exact product and manufacturer would I receive? What does my plan cost without it?”

Henry Meds lists anastrozole “at no extra cost” if appropriate. Anastrozole is FDA-approved for specified breast-cancer uses in women after menopause. Using it in men is off-label. In one large specialty practice’s retrospective study, 51 of 1,708 men on testosterone—about 3 out of every 100—were prescribed it. That is one practice’s experience, not a rule for who needs it. Henry offer · Anastrozole label · Original study

Ask Henry: “What findings would justify anastrozole in my case, and how would you monitor its benefits and risks?”

If FDA-approved medicine is your priority

Henry’s KYZATREX plan is the clearly identified FDA-approved capsule option between these two — if you’re outside California and a clinician says it fits you. Henry’s “commercial or compounded” injection wording still needs an exact product check. Henry options

Cream is not simply a needle-free version with no added precautions: topical testosterone can transfer to other people. Ask for the exact product’s transfer-prevention instructions, especially around children or a pregnant partner. For oral testosterone, ask about blood-pressure and hematocrit monitoring. How often will you talk to a provider, and how do refills work?

Male Excel says you keep the same provider, get a structured review every 60 days, and can book unlimited e-visits for your $99 membership. Henry’s TRT process starts with a video appointment and requires a new lab order and intake form before a new testosterone prescription. We found no guaranteed response time for either company in the pages checked. Male Excel care · Henry refills

Male Excel's setup

  • Same provider over time. Male Excel says you'll work with the same provider and get reviews every 60 days.
  • Unlimited e-visits with your provider, plus unlimited messaging with its support team. Those are two different things. Messaging goes to support staff, not necessarily a clinician.
  • Refills: Before your 60-day supply runs out, Male Excel texts and emails a reminder. You have 48 hours to approve or change your plan before you're billed and it ships.
  • Labs: a new kit every 6 months, included.
  • Team: Male Excel names Peter Fotinos, MD, as chief medical officer and Lorna A. Brudie, DO, as medical director. It says care comes from an in-house team. One 2026 BBB complaint notes the consult was with a nurse practitioner. These are company-listed roles and a customer report, not verification of your assigned clinician’s license. Henry Meds' setup

  • First visit: a telehealth video (audio and video) appointment, per its TRT FAQ.
  • Refills: Henry's help center says a new lab order and medical intake form are required for new TRT prescriptions. For controlled medicines, it describes a required follow-up appointment before a new prescription is processed.
  • Shipping: Henry says most people get medicine 8 to 10 business days after their provider visit. It says California can take longer because of extra testing for compounded medicine. That is Henry’s explanation and estimate, not a delivery guarantee or an independent review of California pharmacy law. Henry’s TRT page
  • Team: Henry’s landing page names Steven Peacock, DO, and lists physician assistants and nurse practitioners. We did not independently confirm current leadership roles or the license of the clinician who would see you. Henry’s published team

Henry’s refill article says a follow-up lab order is emailed about a month before the medicine is expected to run out. What customers report

Service promises and real experiences can differ. In Henry's BBB file, recent complaints describe phone lines going to voicemail, trouble booking follow-ups, and gaps between charges and shipments. Many of those involve Henry's weight-loss plans, not TRT. In Male Excel's file, the biggest group is billing complaints.

These are reports in the Henry complaint file and Male Excel complaint file, not support tests we performed. The files do not supply a TRT-specific delay or complaint rate.

Can you cancel or get a refund?

You can cancel either one, but getting money back is limited. Male Excel has a conditional 90-day membership-fee guarantee alongside final-sale terms and case-by-case discretion. Henry’s ordinary subscription refunds focus on loss of medical eligibility, less applicable fees; billing errors, legal requirements and exceptional discretionary remedies are separate. Male Excel's guarantee — the real conditions

Male Excel advertises results guaranteed or your membership fee refunded. Its separate guarantee terms spell out the conditions:

Read the separate guarantee terms, not just the headline promise.

  • It's for new members who stay on the protocol for 90 days in a row.
  • You must attend scheduled appointments. Male Excel may ask for proof you followed the plan.
  • You must ask for the refund within 30 days after day 90.
  • Improvement is measured through Male Excel’s assessment and provider feedback, not an independent outcome measure.
  • It covers membership fees for those 90 days only — up to $297. Medicine isn't covered.

At the current $99 membership price, three monthly fees equal $297. The guarantee does not reimburse medication, the intake kit or other treatment costs. Guarantee scope

Outside that guarantee, Male Excel's Terms say all sales are final, including subscription fees. They also say the company may fix issues case by case. Male Excel’s final-sale and discretionary-resolution terms.

  • After approval: the ordinary subscription refund rule is tied to no longer being medically eligible. The terms also address billing corrections, legally required refunds, and exceptional discretionary refunds or credits. This is not a satisfaction guarantee. Refund terms
  • Fees: the $30 consultation fee is non-refundable once a prescription is written. A processing fee may also be deducted.
  • Shipped medicine is generally final sale. Report damage or misdelivery within 48 hours of the confirmed or expected delivery date. The usual remedy for specified medication problems is a replacement, with limited exceptions—not an automatic cash refund. Shipping and remedies

Cancelling

Cancellation question Male Excel Henry Meds
How to cancel Advertises “no contract, cancel anytime.” Confirm cancellation with support; the 48-hour medicine refill window is a separate order deadline. Its terms describe online cancellation in two clicks, by email, or by phone. We did not test those steps.

Are Male Excel and Henry Meds legit?

Both companies have active public treatment offers and written service terms, but that does not verify your assigned clinician or pharmacy. As of September 16, 2026, Male Excel’s BBB file shows an A+ with 38 complaints and none unanswered; Henry’s shows an F with 234 complaints and 28 unanswered. How to read this fairly:

  • A total isn’t a rate. We did not verify a comparable patient count or TRT-specific denominator, so these totals cannot show which company has more complaints per patient.
  • Both are company-wide files, not TRT-only files. Henry’s includes weight-loss treatment; Male Excel’s includes ED treatment.
  • BBB itself says Henry's complaints mainly involve billing, cancellation, and delivery.
  • The biggest differences in these files: Male Excel has no complaints labeled unanswered, and billing is its largest category. Henry has 28 labeled unanswered; product and service issues are its largest categories. These are business-experience signals, not treatment results.

Trustpilot

On the Trustpilot profiles checked September 16, 2026, Male Excel showed 4.5 out of 5 from 6,469 reviews and Henry Meds showed 4.4 out of 5 from 12,527 reviews. Those are company-wide scores, not TRT-only scores. Male Excel Trustpilot profile · Henry Trustpilot profile

We found conflicts on both companies’ own websites, covering prices, drug names, age limits, and shipment or supply intervals. The public pages do not establish why they disagree. Can you get Male Excel or Henry Meds in your state, and will you need an in-person visit?

Male Excel lists 11 excluded states; we did not locate a full current Henry TRT state list, and Henry says KYZATREX is unavailable through its offer in California. A temporary federal rule permits qualifying audio-video prescribing without a prior in-person evaluation through December 31, 2026. • Male Excel excludes: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, according to the FAQ checked September 16, 2026. Published exclusions
  • Henry Meds: we did not locate a complete TRT state list in the public pages checked. Its terms say not all products are available in all states. Confirm your state and treatment format before paying. Availability terms
  • Age: Male Excel’s platform terms require adults 18 and up; that is not a promise of TRT eligibility at 18. Henry’s two TRT pages disagree (35–65 vs. 24–70). Ask which clinical rule applies. Male Excel terms · Henry TRT page · Henry landing page

The federal telemedicine rule

Testosterone is a controlled substance. Federal law generally requires an in-person evaluation before internet prescribing unless a permitted exception or telemedicine pathway applies. DEA extension explanation

Right now, a temporary DEA and HHS extension lets DEA-registered practitioners prescribe Schedule II–V medicines through qualifying audio-video telemedicine without a prior in-person evaluation, subject to its conditions, legitimate medical purpose and applicable law. It runs through December 31, 2026. This is not a promise that the same pathway will continue in 2027. DEA’s fourth extension

What that means for you:

  • Both companies warn that your state, or your clinician, may still require an in-person exam.
  • A questionnaire alone does not satisfy the audio-video requirement for this pathway. The clinician must also have the needed authority for the state where you are physically located during care. DEA · HHS state licensing
  • For continuity into 2027, keep copies of your labs and treatment records, and ask what follow-up or in-person care the program would arrange if requirements change. Do not assume another clinician will automatically continue the same prescription.

FDA’s 2026 labeling request does not change testosterone’s controlled-substance schedule. As of September 16, 2026, testosterone remains Schedule III and prescription-only. FDA update · Current KYZATREX label

Does insurance, an HSA, or Medicare cover Male Excel or Henry Meds?

Both programs are cash-pay and say they do not accept insurance, Medicare or Medicaid; their terms restrict claim submission. HSA or FSA funds may be usable, but eligibility depends on your benefit rules—not a provider’s promise. For insurance-based care, start with an in-network clinician and check your plan’s lab and drug coverage. Male Excel terms · Henry terms

  • HSA/FSA: Ask your plan administrator before you pay. Keep itemized receipts.
  • Medicare: Neither company will bill it. Outside these programs, Part D may cover a prescribed self-administered drug under the plan’s rules; Part B covers a limited set of outpatient drugs, including some administered in a clinician’s office. The product, setting and coverage rules matter. Medicare drug coverage
  • The insurance route in one line: an in-network doctor or urologist evaluates you and orders needed tests; when treatment is appropriate, check coverage for the exact FDA-approved product. Prior approval, deductibles, copays or coinsurance may apply. Do not assume coverage or a lower total bill before your plan confirms it.

What should you get in writing before you pay?

A public price table can’t answer everything. Send both companies the same questions, then compare their written answers side by side. Mark anything they won’t quote as “not quoted”—don’t treat it as free.

Two questions matter most. Start there.

  1. "How will you confirm my low testosterone — including two early-morning tests — and where is my hematocrit checked?"
  2. "Exactly how much will my card be charged in months 1, 2, and 3, and on what dates?"

Then fill in the rest:

Question Male Excel’s answer Henry Meds’ answer
What's due before my evaluation? What if I'm not approved?
What are all required charges: membership, medicine, labs, visits, shipping?
What's the exact medicine? FDA-approved or compounded? Which pharmacy?
Are non-testosterone medicines included (thyroid, anastrozole)? Why?
What testosterone level are you aiming for, and why is that appropriate for me?
Are repeat diagnostic tests, extra tests and replacement samples included?
Who is my prescribing clinician, and are they licensed or otherwise authorized for my state?
How do I reach a clinician between visits, and how fast will they respond?
What's the fertility plan? Can you order a semen analysis or arrange specialist care first?
When is each payment due, and how much medicine does it cover?
What's the last day to cancel before renewal? Can a balance remain?
How do I get my labs and records if I switch?

Copy and send this request:

"Please send me a written breakdown of all required charges for my first year, with payment dates. Include which tests and visits are included, the exact medication and dispensing pharmacy, how my low testosterone will be confirmed, the follow-up and lab schedule, and my cancellation deadlines. Please tell me anything you can't quote before a clinician evaluates me."

For a complete first-year quote: add every payment scheduled from enrollment through the day before the first anniversary—intake, membership, medicine, required tests and visits, shipping and other required fees. Count prepaid shipments when charged, even if the supply extends beyond that year. A fee with no quoted amount leaves the total incomplete.

How did we compare Male Excel and Henry Meds?

We read each company’s live pricing, product, lab, legal, and guarantee pages on September 16, 2026. We checked both BBB complaint files and Trustpilot the same day, and compared the published processes with the AUA’s published guideline, Endocrine Society guidance and current FDA materials. We did not enroll, buy treatment, verify an assigned clinician or pharmacy, or test support or cancellation.

We follow our published method, How We Review TRT Providers. In short:

  • Verified facts are tied to the right source: FDA for approval and labeling, DEA/HHS for the federal prescribing framework, and the original guidelines for clinical recommendations. A dated company page verifies what the company published, not that every patient receives it.
  • Provider-stated facts include prices, inclusions, state access and promises we read but couldn’t test, like follow-up schedules. We identify conflicting public statements instead of selecting one without support.
  • Customer signals come from BBB and Trustpilot. They show reported experiences and complaint categories. They don’t prove medical results, a patient-level complaint rate or current policy.
  • Our judgment — like the fit table — is based on those facts and labeled as ours.
  • Costs are our own math from published starting prices. The 12-payment models and cash-flow examples state their assumptions; they are not complete quotes or matched prescriptions.

We do not assign providers a star rating or numeric score. Being listed isn’t an endorsement; the BBB grades and Trustpilot scores above belong to those platforms. The verification date describes this source check, not a promise that prices, terms or rules will stay unchanged.

Can I switch from another TRT clinic?

A switch is possible, but acceptance and continuation of the same prescription are not guaranteed. Male Excel says it accepts patients from other clinics and evaluates them for its own protocol; Henry may accept lab results from the prior 90 days at the clinician’s discretion. Bring your records and ask about the evaluation and refill timeline before cancelling existing care. Male Excel FAQ · Henry outside-lab policy
