Best for: U.S. adult men comparing a move from Blokes or checking its terms before paying. Not for you if: you need a diagnosis, a fertility treatment plan, or urgent help with symptoms. The provider comparisons here do not cover women, adolescents, gender-affirming care, or nonmedical performance use.

You're trying to have kids soon A urologist or reproductive urologist, not another TRT subscription Testosterone therapy can lower sperm production. AUA/ASRM guidance

Here's the twist most "Blokes alternatives" lists miss: Blokes' own annual plan is still $1,188 for the subscription, with medication, visits and follow-up labs bundled in. That is not a verified all-in first-year quote: the current page requires an initial lab and clinician visit but does not establish their combined starting charge. So price alone isn't the right reason to switch. Your reason for leaving is what picks the right replacement. Blokes pricing and inclusions

Blokes alternatives compared: month one, 90 days, and year one

Blokes' annual subscription requires $1,188 upfront, before any separate initial evaluation charge. Shorter commitments can reduce the money tied up at the start, but medication blocks, lab charges and cancellation deadlines still matter. The table separates published prices from calculated examples; it does not name an all-in price winner where required costs remain unknown.

We used each provider's own published prices checked on September 24, 2026. These are spending models, not guaranteed quotes or maximum losses if you leave. “Month one” includes the initial evaluation and first treatment payment, even when those charges fall on different dates. The 90-day and yearly columns assume treatment continues and prices do not change.

How we priced this. We used the published injectable starting prices where the medication was identified. We did not treat an unknown fee as zero. Optional upgrades and add-ons are excluded; shipping, tax and extra testing must be added where they are not included in a confirmed quote. New York, New Jersey, California and other state-specific offers may differ.

  • Blokes: its annual, six-month and Flex subscriptions are $1,188, $774 and $447. Follow-up labs are included. We could not confirm a current $75 combined starting offer on the official pages checked. If Blokes gives you a written $75 initial quote, the annual and Flex first-year examples become $1,263 and $1,863. Those are conditional calculations, not the current public all-in prices. Blokes
  • TRT Nation: $99.99 × 12 + $129 × 3 = $1,586.88. That counts an initial panel and two follow-up panels within the first year. Its FAQ describes an early check at 10 weeks and a later six-month check, followed by annual testing; confirm the exact dates with the clinician. The 90-day example pays for two 2.5-month purchases, so it includes supply beyond day 90. Five minimum 2.5-month purchases buy 12.5 months of treatment, so the cash example is about $1,250 + $387 = $1,637. Accepted outside labs can replace its lab orders, but those tests are not automatically free. Pricing · FAQ
  • Hone Plus: $45 initial test + a confirming test + $135 × 12. Its Plus page says confirmation costs $45 at a lab or $80 at home; its TRT lab-schedule page says $50 at a lab or $80 at home. That produces $1,710–$1,745 before medication. Cypionate is listed from $28 per vial, not a confirmed $28 monthly prescription. An example using 12 vials at $28 adds $336, making $2,046–$2,081. Your actual number of vials, price and shipment schedule may differ. Plus pricing · Lab schedule
  • Male Excel: $99 consult + $99 × 12 membership + $120 × 12 medication = $2,727 before shipping, applicable tax and any separately billed tests. The listed injection price bundles testosterone with thyroid medicine; it is not a verified testosterone-only quote. Medication is billed in 60-day blocks. At that starting price, two $240 medication payments plus three $99 memberships and the $99 consult equal $876 through 90 days, with part of the second medication supply left. The yearly model uses 12 monthly price equivalents; confirm the actual refill dates, because a medication order charged before the anniversary can change first-year cash spending. Pricing · Terms
  • Taurus: $49 start + $149 × 12 = $1,837, before any unresolved fee or excluded service. Its terms also contain a $17.99 recurring fee per billing period; neither its applicability to this offer nor the length of that billing period was confirmed. Do not add twelve such fees or assume the clause does not apply. Offer · Terms
  • PeterMD: $948 annual plan + $95 new-patient panel + two $124.50 follow-up panels = $1,292. With only one follow-up panel, that example is $1,167.50. These are arithmetic examples, not a verified testing schedule or a claim that those panels cover every required test. A repeat diagnostic test, extra safety tests or a different panel can change the total. PeterMD lists delivery as included. Treatment · Lab menu

These are starting prices. Your dose, format, and clinician can change them. For the broader cost framework, see what goes into TRT cost.

What the table tells you:

  • Blokes' low monthly rate is a prepayment choice. If your care fits and you can prepay, its annual subscription deserves to stay in the comparison. We cannot call it the cheapest complete year without the initial quote.
  • TRT Nation has a lower advertised injection-program price without a 12-month prepay. Labs and minimum purchase blocks still affect the cash you need.
  • Hone and Taurus have lower advertised starting subtotals than Male Excel in these models. Neither subtotal caps the cost of leaving: processed prescriptions, billing timing and disputed terms matter.
  • Male Excel's published injectable bundle costs more than the other online starting-price models here. Its written membership-fee guarantee may matter more to a reader leaving a long prepay, but it does not refund the whole program.

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person. It depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.

The tool is educational and non-diagnostic. It does not decide whether you are medically eligible or guarantee a prescription.

Can you cancel Blokes and get a refund?

You can cancel a Blokes TRT subscription, but Blokes says subscription payments can't be refunded, and lab purchases are final too. Its Terms of Use also set a three-month minimum and require cancellation 30 days before your next processing date, by email. Get your own plan's notice deadline in writing because its prepaid offers and monthly-processing language do not line up neatly. Refund policy · Terms

Cancelable is not the same as refundable. Blokes' pricing page says "Easy cancellations." Its documents add the details:

  • Refund policy: hormone subscriptions can be canceled at any time, but payments are nonrefundable and sales are final. Diagnostic labs are final too. Blokes refund policy
  • Terms of Use: subscriptions carry a minimum of three consecutive months. The terms call for notice thirty days before the next monthly processing date, after the initial commitment, by emailing info@joiandblokes.com. Joi + Blokes Terms
  • Clinical handoff: ask your treating clinician whether a final visit is needed and who will manage monitoring or prescription questions while you move. A billing cancellation is not an instruction to stop treatment.

Blokes sells 3-, 6- and 12-month prepaid plans, while its terms mention a "monthly processing date." Those don't line up neatly. Don't guess your deadline. Email Blokes and ask for your renewal date, your last charge, and your cancellation effective date in writing. Pricing · Terms

Blokes Terms require 30 days' notice before processing, after the minimum commitment; confirm how that applies to your prepaid plan No subscription or lab refunds under the published policy Refunds · Terms
Male Excel Advertises no long-term contract and cancellation at any time; confirm membership and pending prescription orders separately Its conditional guarantee covers the first three membership fees after 90 days of continuous participation. Hone Health Membership cancellation is effective when its cancellation form is submitted; medication orders must be addressed separately No partial-month membership refund. Charges after a submitted cancellation are refunded. Processed or shipped medication orders are not refundable. The initial $135 membership fee is refunded if the physician finds treatment inappropriate. Cancellation policy · Payment terms
Taurus Meds Policy requires a request at least 72 hours before the billing date; late notice can lead to another charge The offer advertises a 90-day refund minus lab and pharmacy fees, while the policy disclaims a results guarantee and limits refunds. Medical-disqualification refund wording also differs within the policy. Offer · Refund policy
TRT Nation Treatment is sold with a 2.5-month minimum purchase; obtain the order-specific cancellation deadline Not established from the treatment and FAQ pages checked Treatment · FAQ
PeterMD Email notice at least 48 hours before the renewal processing date Policy says treatment purchases are final once medication is received; lab orders are nonrefundable Refund and auto-bill policy · Lab policy

Hone's two cancellations are easy to miss. Canceling membership does not automatically cancel pending prescriptions. Canceling a prescription does not cancel the membership. Its policy says medication is usually charged about a week before the previous supply runs out, so check both next-charge dates. Hone cancellation policy

If the refund question is why you're here

Male Excel does not have the lowest price. Its published injectable-bundle year starts at about $2,727 plus shipping, applicable tax and any separately billed tests. That is more than twice Blokes' $1,188 annual subscription, though Blokes' initial evaluation cost still needs to be added. If the lowest total is your priority, compare written quotes from TRT Nation, PeterMD and Blokes before choosing Male Excel. Male Excel pricing · Blokes pricing

But because Male Excel skips a 12-month prepay, the starting-spend example is about $438, not a year of treatment paid upfront. It still prepays medication for 60 days. If you stay 90 days and meet all guarantee conditions, three $99 membership fees can be returned; that reduces the $876 example to $579 plus excluded charges. It is a conditional refund, not a $579 risk-free trial. Pricing · Guarantee terms

The guarantee requires an eligible new member to participate continuously for 90 days, follow the treatment and monitoring requirements, and document a lack of improvement under its terms. You must request it within 30 days after that 90-day period. Medication, consultation and other non-membership charges are not the promised refund. Guarantee terms

For a man who got burned by a prepay, paying more per year to avoid another year-long commitment can be the whole point.

One more thing you should know before clicking. Male Excel's listed prices bundle a thyroid medicine with testosterone. Ask your clinician whether you need it and what lab result supports it. Ask for a testosterone-only quote if thyroid treatment is not indicated. Male Excel pricing

If a refund backstop is what you need, read our Male Excel cost and guarantee breakdown →

The breakdown includes the membership, medication, pharmacy restrictions and guarantee limits. Male Excel's published starting step is a $99 online consultation with an at-home hormone test; a prescription is written only if a clinician finds it appropriate. Pricing

Which states can't get TRT from Blokes?

Blokes says it cannot ship testosterone to 16 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and South Carolina. It says it ships to the other 34 states, but that is a provider availability statement—not proof that every applicant can be prescribed testosterone. Blokes state FAQ

A state cross-check for readers Blokes cannot serve

This is our comparison of Blokes' 16 excluded states against Hone Plus and Male Excel's published lists, checked on the same date. “Listed” means the provider's page lists the program in that state; it is not clinical approval, a checked appointment slot, or a verified pharmacy shipment.

A company's list isn't the law of your state. It reflects that company's own licensing and pharmacy setup. A state Blokes skips may be served by another provider; the new clinician and pharmacy still have to confirm access for you.

Why this happens. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance under federal law and requires a valid prescription. Prescribing must also meet the applicable federal and state rules; an online intake is not a loophole around them. Current federal telemedicine rule

The best Blokes alternatives, by reason you're leaving

Match the alternative to your reason: Male Excel for a shorter commitment with a limited guarantee, Hone for a clearly published second-test process, and TRT Nation for a lower advertised injection price without a year-long prepay. Taurus needs written answers about its conflicting terms, while PeterMD's lowest rate still requires a year upfront. Local care is a useful starting point for insurance, a specific FDA-approved product, fertility or a complex medical history.

Every breakdown below starts with the verdict, then the facts behind it. These are editorial fit judgments based on published information, not ratings of clinical quality or promises of treatment.

Male Excel: best considered if you're leaving over the prepay

Verdict: A fit to consider for men who want out of year-long, non-refundable plans and are willing to pay more for a shorter commitment and a limited membership-fee guarantee.

  • Best for: men who want no long-term contract, a written 90-day guarantee, a dedicated provider, and a cream option.
  • Not for: men who want the lowest price, insurance billing, or prescriptions sent to their chosen pharmacy. Also not for men who dislike daily injections, since its advertised injection protocol is once-daily under the skin; that describes its program, not instructions for your prescription. Pricing · Pharmacy terms
  • Price: $99 consultation, including an at-home hormone test. Then a $99/month Medical Membership, plus medication. Injections start at $120/month and cream at $132/month, billed every other month for a 60-day supply, plus shipping. Pricing
  • What the membership covers: unlimited messaging with the support team and unlimited e-visits with your medical provider, per its pricing page. Support messaging is not the same as an independently tested clinician response time. Membership inclusions
  • What we verified: the published prices, every-other-month medication billing, no-long-term-contract claim, required membership, guarantee terms, and cash-pay model. These are provider statements checked against its documents, not a test purchase. Pricing · Guarantee
  • Easiest-to-miss detail: listed prices include a thyroid medicine, and shipping is extra. Ask for the shipping charge and any separate lab charges before you pay. Pricing · Terms
  • Testing: its standard home blood-spot panel lists five markers, not a complete description of repeat morning testing and blood-count monitoring. Ask how diagnostic confirmation and hematocrit testing are handled and priced. Home test · Clinical guidance
  • Compounded or FDA-approved? Its Lipoderm cream is compounded. Its pricing page does not establish whether the injectable cypionate you would receive is a manufactured FDA-approved product or compounded. Ask for the exact product. Cream page · Pricing
  • Pharmacy choice: its terms restrict prescriptions to contracted pharmacies. Its FAQ names Anazao Health Corporation and WellDyneRx-FL; that does not establish which one would dispense your prescription or independently verify its license. Terms · FAQ
  • If this isn't you: want a lower advertised cost? See TRT Nation and PeterMD's monthly option. Want a clearer published second-test step? See Hone. Want your own pharmacy or insurance? Start with your own clinician.

If that fits what you're looking for, review Male Excel's current published price components →

Check the $99 membership, medication, shipping and guarantee limits together. A questionnaire is not a diagnosis, and no prescription is promised.

Hone Health: best considered for a clearly published two-test start

Verdict: A fit to consider for men who want a clearly described second testosterone test before TRT, monthly membership billing, and several treatment formats. That published process does not establish how well any individual clinician evaluates a patient.

  • Best for: men who haven't been fully evaluated yet, or who want monthly billing and several format choices.
  • Not for: men who want one all-in price, because membership and medication are billed separately. Do not choose a cream or troche expecting an FDA-approved product; Hone lists those preparations as compounded. Its Plus page alone does not establish the manufacturer or approval status of your eventual cypionate prescription. Plus plan
  • Price (Plus page updated September 10, 2026):
    • $45 initial at-home test (8 biomarkers)
    • $45 confirming test at a lab on the Plus page, versus $50 on the lab-schedule page; both list $80 at home
    • $135/month membership
    • Medication: cypionate from $28 per vial; compounded cream and troche each listed at $60/month. Plus prices · Lab schedule
  • What's included: follow-up labs and consults. Hone says there are no additional charges for those covered follow-ups and lists free shipping. Medication remains separate. Plus plan
  • The detail that sets Hone apart: its published TRT path includes a second testosterone test plus hematocrit, PSA and prolactin before treatment. Ask whether the testosterone samples are collected on separate mornings and what fasting instructions apply. Major guidance calls for symptoms or signs plus consistently low results confirmed with repeat morning testing—not simply two paid tests. Hone lab schedule · Endocrine Society guideline
    • Hematocrit is the share of your blood made of red cells. Testosterone can raise it.
    • PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is a prostate blood marker.
    • Prolactin is a pituitary hormone that can point to other causes of low T.
  • Easiest-to-miss detail: the current Plus and men's HRT payment pages agree on $135/month. The payment page calls it a $1,620 annual program billed monthly that you can cancel at any time. Premium is a different plan, not a conflicting Plus price. The remaining price conflict is the $45-versus-$50 at-lab confirmation fee. Payment breakdown · Plus plan · Lab schedule
  • If this isn't you: want one bundled subscription price? Compare Blokes' quote. Taurus advertises a bundle too, but its fee and refund conflicts need written answers first.

TRT Nation: a lower advertised price without a year-long prepay

Verdict: A fit to consider for price-focused men who want injections and don't want to prepay a year, provided the lab, state and clinical requirements work for them. The lower advertised price does not establish that it is the right care setting for every reader.

  • Best for: men who already have recent labs, or cheap access to them.
  • Not for: men who want at-home test kits, which TRT Nation says it does not accept, or who need an in-person examination or specialist workup. 2026 FAQ
  • Price: $99.99/month for injectable testosterone, sold with a 2.5-month minimum purchase. California pricing may vary. Treatment pricing
  • Labs: $129 per TRT panel if you order through TRT Nation. It accepts outside labs. Its general FAQ says outside results should typically be within 120 days; the separate 2026 FAQ says six months. Get acceptance confirmed before paying for another panel or relying on an old result. General FAQ · 2026 FAQ
  • Monitoring: its published schedule includes bloodwork at 10 weeks, a later six-month check and then yearly. Its FAQ versions describe the timing of the six-month check differently, so ask for your actual dates. Monitoring is set by the clinician, not by the cheapest lab calendar. FAQ · 2026 FAQ
  • Published age scope: its FAQ describes men age 24 and older. Symptoms and a low result are not automatic approval; a clinician still has to make an appropriate diagnosis and prescribing decision. FAQ · Clinical guidance
  • Medication: its current FAQ says its medications are sourced from U.S. compounding pharmacies. That is provider-stated sourcing, not an FDA approval or an independent pharmacy-license audit. FAQ
  • Support: the site lists weekday support hours and follow-up access. We did not measure response times or verify a claim that consultations are unusually short. FAQ
  • Watch for: promotional banners. Treat promotions as a pricing detail, not a reason to decide faster.

Taurus Meds: a bundled-price offer that needs written terms

Verdict: Worth comparing only after Taurus resolves the fee, billing and refund questions for the exact offer you would buy. The advertised $149/month is not the lowest monthly rate in this comparison.

  • Best for: a cash-pay reader willing to obtain an itemized written quote before making a decision—not someone relying on the landing page alone.
  • Not for: someone who needs clear refund protection, confirmed state access or a verified FDA-approved product before beginning an intake.
  • Price: $49 blood test and consultation (shown marked down from $129). Then $149/month, advertised as all-inclusive with no membership fees, if treatment is approved. The legal documents do not resolve whether that is the full charge for this offer. Offer · Terms
  • Clinicians: Taurus Medical, Inc. describes itself as a technology platform. Its terms and consent reference OpenLoop-related services; that does not identify the individual clinician who would treat you. Ask for the medical practice's name and the clinician's state license details. Terms · Offer and consent link
  • Formats listed: testosterone cypionate and testosterone gel. Its page also lists enclomiphene and an oral sermorelin product. Enclomiphene and sermorelin are not testosterone. Product cards alone do not establish the actual prescription, approval status or appropriateness. Offer

Where Taurus' own documents disagree:

  1. Fees. The landing page says there are no membership fees. Its current Terms of Service still include a recurring membership fee of $17.99 per billing period. We could not establish whether that clause applies to the $149 TRT offer. Offer · Terms
  2. Refunds. The landing page advertises a 90-day refund minus lab and pharmacy fees if you do not see results. The refund policy says there is no guarantee of results or effectiveness and generally denies cancellation refunds except for medical disqualification. Even its disqualification wording varies between a full refund and remaining or current-cycle charges. Get the controlling terms in writing. Offer · Refund policy
  3. Wording. Its landing page calls its compounded hormones "bioidentical" and says they are compounded "specifically for The Excel Advantage HRT program." Excel Advantage is Male Excel's program name. We couldn't confirm whether the two companies are related. “Bioidentical” does not make a compounded preparation FDA-approved; its appearance on a page does not, by itself, establish the same violation described in the Blokes warning letter. Taurus offer · Male Excel guarantee · FDA compounding explanation · FDA letter
  4. Numbers and page quality. The same page claims both "over 100,000 men" and "40,000 Patients." Its medication cards repeat an injection description under products listed as gel or oral treatments. We did not validate those patient counts. Do not use those cards as medication directions. Taurus offer

Before you pay, ask Taurus in writing: Does any recurring fee apply on top of $149? Is $149 month-to-month? What exactly does the 90-day guarantee cover? Are repeat and follow-up labs, shipping and supplies included? Its refund policy requires notice at least 72 hours before billing; missing that deadline can produce another charge. Refund policy

Before paying for the $49 start, get those answers from Taurus support. Use the contact details in its current terms and save the reply with the offer and refund policy. A refund promise with conflicting exclusions is not a reliable reason to choose a provider.

PeterMD: cheapest annual sticker, same prepay problem

Verdict: Its $948 annual plan is worth a look only if what bothered you about Blokes wasn't the prepay itself. PeterMD also advertises shorter plans, but the lowest price is still paid upfront and excludes labs. PeterMD pricing

  • Best for: men who are comfortable comparing a prepaid annual quote and can arrange the required labs.
  • Not for: men trying to escape annual prepayment or who cannot use its treatment or lab service in their state.
  • Price: $948 paid in full for 12 months. Its own treatment page also lists $654 for six months and $139 for a one-month plan. Labs are separate. That same page has an inconsistent “$1,068 total” next to the monthly option: $139 × 12 is $1,668 before labs, so ask for the checkout and renewal amounts rather than relying on that total. Your own doctor or a urologist: best for insurance, FDA-approved products, or anything complicated

Verdict: Often the right starting point when insurance, a named manufactured product, fertility or a complex health history decides the care route. Appointment speed, telehealth follow-ups and home delivery depend on the practice and pharmacy—not simply whether care is local.

  • Best for:
    • men with insurance that covers the visits, testing or prescribed testosterone product
    • men who want a manufactured, FDA-approved testosterone product filled at a pharmacy they choose
    • men planning children
    • men with a complex medical history
  • What to expect:
    • a clinical evaluation, appropriate repeat testing and discussion of the cause of low testosterone—not a guaranteed prescription
    • separate questions for the insurer about the clinician, lab, formulary, deductible and any prior authorization
    • a product-specific pharmacy quote rather than a universal TRT copay. Clinical guidance · Fertility guidance
  • Not for: someone expecting a membership-style bundle without checking how the practice bills. Ask whether the practice offers remote follow-ups or works with a mail-order pharmacy rather than assuming local care rules them out. Compare online and local TRT care models.

What about the companies Blokes compares itself to?

Blokes' own TRT page has a comparison table naming three rivals: Maximus, Hone Health, and Hims. Blokes comparison

  • Hone is covered above.
  • Hims is marked in Blokes' table as not offering TRT. At this check, Hims' own testosterone page still labels injectable testosterone cypionate and oral Kyzatrex as coming in 2026. Its available enclomiphene-based Testosterone Rx + Tadalafil product is not TRT. A planned launch is not a current treatment option. Hims testosterone page
  • Maximus markets testosterone and enclomiphene programs and discloses compounded preparations. These are not interchangeable treatments. Its prices vary by commitment length, so ask for the month-to-month price and the renewal amount before you pay. Maximus testosterone programs

Compounded vs FDA-approved: does switching change your medicine?

Not necessarily: switching brands does not establish that you are changing from compounded testosterone to an FDA-approved product. Approval belongs to the exact manufactured drug, not the provider's name, the ingredient name or the pharmacy alone. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness and quality before marketing. FDA explanation

Here's the difference in plain words:

  • An FDA-approved product is a specific manufactured drug. The FDA reviewed its safety, effectiveness and labeling before it could be sold.
  • A compounded preparation is made by a qualified compounder under applicable rules. It can meet a patient's medical need, but it hasn't gone through that approval review. The FDA explains the difference here.
  • Non-testosterone medicines, like enclomiphene or clomiphene, are not testosterone replacement at all (more on that below).

What the public pages establish about medication and pharmacy choice

Provider Compounded or FDA-approved? Pharmacy information and the question still to ask
Blokes Its TRT page says drugs may include compounded products; it names cypionate but does not identify your exact dispensed product Ask for the manufacturer or compounder, pharmacy and sample label. TRT disclosure
Male Excel Lipoderm cream is explicitly compounded. The injectable product's status was not established from the pricing page Terms restrict prescriptions to contracted pharmacies. Its FAQ names Anazao Health Corporation and WellDyneRx-FL; ask which will fill yours. Cream · Terms · FAQ
Hone Plus The Plus page lists compounded cream and troches. It does not identify the manufacturer or approval status of the cypionate you would receive Ask for the exact product and dispensing pharmacy, rather than assuming all formats have the same status. Plus plan
TRT Nation Its general FAQ says medications come from U.S. compounding pharmacies Obtain the pharmacy's name and your product label. A compounding pharmacy can also dispense manufactured drugs, so that sourcing statement does not establish your vial's approval status or independently verify the pharmacy's license. FAQ
Taurus Meds Its offer describes compounded hormones Its terms name pharmacy partners, but that does not identify which one will dispense your TRT. Get that answer for your prescription. Offer · Terms
PeterMD The treatment page's ingredient name alone does not establish your dispensed product's approval status Ask for the exact drug and dispensing pharmacy before comparing it with an approved product. Treatment page
Your clinician and chosen pharmacy Can be a path to a specific manufactured FDA-approved product when prescribed; verify the actual product A local or mail-order pharmacy can also dispense compounds. Location does not establish approval. FDA explanation

Two words to watch in marketing:

  • "Bioidentical" has no approval meaning. The FDA cited misleading equivalence claims using that word in its letter to Joi + Blokes about compounded weight-loss drugs. FDA warning letter
  • "Same as" does not establish FDA-reviewed equivalence for a compounded preparation. Ask about the specific product, not a marketing comparison. FDA compounding information

Five questions to ask any provider before you pay:

  1. Is my testosterone a manufactured FDA-approved product or compounded?
  2. Which pharmacy fills it? If it is compounded, is it supplied under the patient-specific 503A framework or by a registered 503B outsourcing facility? These are different compounding frameworks; neither makes the drug FDA-approved. FDA compounding questions and answers
  3. Can I see a sample label?
  4. Can I get an FDA-approved version if I ask, and does the price change?
  5. Is anything else, like thyroid medicine or an estrogen blocker, bundled into my price?

Will you need new labs to switch?

Possibly, at least some: a new clinician decides whether recent outside results are enough and which safety checks are due. For a new diagnosis, the Endocrine Society calls for symptoms or signs plus consistently low testosterone, confirmed with repeat morning fasting testing. That is different from deciding how to monitor someone already receiving treatment. Clinical guideline

One number never settles it alone, and this page can't read your results. A result such as 300 ng/dL is not a stand-alone diagnosis; the testing method, timing, repeated results, symptoms and possible cause matter. The clinician may also need a properly measured or calculated free testosterone result in some cases. Endocrine Society recommendations

Why this matters when switching: Blokes' own FAQ says a man told his level of 350 ng/dL was "normal" may still be a candidate, because Blokes uses "a symptom-based, personalized approach." A new clinician may apply a different standard. Don't assume your prescription will carry over. Those marketing statements do not replace a guideline-based clinical evaluation. What the alternatives say about labs:

Provider Starting labs Outside labs accepted? Follow-up labs
Hone Plus $45 initial test; confirmation listed at $45 or $50 at a lab, or $80 at home Not established from the Plus pages checked Covered in membership; published first-year schedule includes months 3, 6, 9 and 12, subject to clinician needs. Plan · Lab schedule
TRT Nation $129 panel, or accepted outside results Yes; FAQ versions give 120-day and six-month limits. At-home kits are not accepted Early testing at 10 weeks, a later six-month check, then annual testing; confirm exact dates. FAQ · 2026 FAQ
Male Excel At-home hormone test in the $99 consult; published kit lists five markers Not established from the pricing and test pages checked FAQ discusses testing at six months and one year. Confirm repeat diagnostic tests, blood counts and any extra charges. Pricing · Test · FAQ
Taurus Meds Blood test in the $49 start; offer promises a home kit at no extra charge when you live more than 50 miles from Labcorp or Quest Not established from the offer checked Obtain the schedule, panel contents and included charges in writing. Offer
Blokes (for comparison) Initial lab and clinician visit required; combined starting fee needs a quote Ask which results are accepted; a universal 90-day limit was not established on its TRT page About six weeks after starting, then about every three months; the clinician may change the spacing. Follow-up labs are included. TRT FAQ
PeterMD $95 new-patient panel on its lab menu; other tests may be needed Confirm panel contents and acceptable dates $124.50 follow-up panel on the menu; required number and additional tests need confirmation. Lab menu

A kit that checks testosterone is not automatically a complete diagnostic or safety workup. Ask who checks blood counts, blood pressure, symptoms and treatment effects, and who follows up on an abnormal result. Do not interrupt or change treatment to obtain an untreated lab value unless your clinician directs that plan. Clinical guidance

Records worth asking Blokes for before you leave: your diagnostic lab results with draw dates and times, your current prescription (drug, dose, pharmacy), recent monitoring labs (including hematocrit and PSA if they were run), visit notes, and any side effects noted.

Under HIPAA, patients generally have a right to copies of records held by a covered healthcare provider. The provider generally must act on an access request within 30 calendar days; one additional 30-day extension is allowed with a timely written explanation and completion date. Request records from the treating medical practice, and ask for its secure process. The platform's brand name alone does not establish who holds every record. Federal right-of-access rule

How to switch from Blokes without a gap in care

Get your records first and book the new provider's intake before your current supply runs low. Check Blokes' cancellation deadline now so waiting for a new appointment does not trigger an unwanted renewal. Don't stop, start or change testosterone on your own; let both clinicians coordinate the handoff. Blokes terms

If you're a current member, this is the part that matters most. Take it one step at a time:

  1. Request your records from the medical practice that treated you through Blokes. Save the confirmation and use its secure transfer process.
  2. Get your dates in writing: your prepaid end date, next processing date, and cancellation deadline.
  3. Give billing notice before the deadline if you have decided not to renew. Confirm the effective date and what paid care remains available; do not confuse notice to end future billing with a change to your treatment.
  4. Start the new provider's intake early. Ask about state access, labs or a lab review, the clinician visit and any in-person requirement before assuming a prescription can continue.
  5. Ask the new clinician whether your recent labs are enough, and who manages your care during the transition. Ask the pharmacy about processing and delivery timing after any prescription is issued.
  6. Confirm the handoff and cancellation separately. Get both in writing. Watch your card for a final charge and verify that no unwanted refill or membership remains active.

A paid intake is never a guaranteed prescription. That's true everywhere, not just at Blokes. The new clinician must make an appropriate prescribing decision under the applicable rules. Federal telemedicine requirements

Questions that prevent a refill surprise

Male Excel says it contacts patients around each 60-day refill for a medical assessment. Hone bills medication separately and says a refill charge usually occurs about a week before the existing supply ends. These are provider-described processes, not delivery guarantees. Male Excel FAQ · Hone billing policy

Ask the new provider: Who answers a clinical question before the first refill? What happens if a lab or appointment is delayed? Who contacts me if the pharmacy cannot fill the prescribed product? We did not test support speed or obtain patient-specific refill dates from any provider.

Is switching now cheaper than finishing your Blokes term?

If your prepaid Blokes charges are nonrefundable under the terms that apply to you, that money is spent either way. Don't count it twice. Compare only the future cash each choice needs over the same stretch of time.

Worked example (made-up numbers, not a real quote): you have six prepaid months left and no more Blokes charges during that time. A new provider quotes $200 upfront plus $150 a month.

  • Stay six months: $0 more.
  • Switch now: $200 + (6 × $150) = $1,100 more.

Switching only makes financial sense if something else is worth that $1,100: a state move, a format you need, better communication, or a medical reason.

Money should never keep you in care that isn't right for you, and it should never rush a treatment change. That timing belongs with your clinician.

Copy this request before paying for a switch

Please send an itemized quote for my first 90 days and first 12 months. Include the initial visit, diagnostic and repeat tests, membership, exact prescribed medication and amount supplied, supplies, shipping, follow-up visits and labs, and any other required charge. Please distinguish money charged upfront from a monthly price equivalent.

Confirm whether you serve my state for this treatment, whether an in-person visit is required, which medical practice provides care, and which pharmacy would dispense the medication. Identify whether the proposed product is FDA-approved or compounded.

Please also confirm the minimum commitment, renewal price, cancellation deadline, which charges are nonrefundable, and whether membership and prescriptions require separate cancellation requests. I understand an intake or payment does not guarantee a prescription.

Keep the quote, dated offer and cancellation confirmation together. You do not need to send medical records to TRT Provider Guide to use this checklist.

Trying to have kids? Start with a specialist

Testosterone therapy can lower sperm production, and AUA/ASRM guidance says testosterone alone should not be prescribed for men interested in current or future fertility. If children are in your near-term plans, see a urologist or reproductive urologist before starting or switching. AUA/ASRM male infertility guideline

Some online programs offer medicines like enclomiphene or clomiphene instead. These are not TRT. They can stimulate the body's own testosterone production in selected patients; that is not a promise of preserved fertility or a substitute for finding the cause of infertility. AUA/ASRM guidance

  • Enclomiphene isn't FDA-approved for any use. FDA discussion, pages 46–47 · U.S. government drug-status explanation, updated January 2026
  • Clomiphene is FDA-approved for ovulatory dysfunction in women desiring pregnancy and is used off-label in men. “Off-label” means a use outside the approved labeling. Current clomiphene labeling · AUA/ASRM guidance
  • hCG is not testosterone. Certain manufactured hCG products, such as Pregnyl, have an approved indication for selected male cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism—a condition involving inadequate hormonal signals to the testes. That does not make every hCG add-on an approved or guaranteed way to preserve fertility during TRT. Pregnyl labeling
  • None comes with a fertility guarantee, whatever a sales page says. A specialist can discuss testing and options; neither continued sperm production nor recovery on a set timeline is assured. AUA/ASRM guidance

Blokes, Hone, TRT Nation, Taurus and Male Excel (through a clomiphene blend it calls Triclozene) advertise non-testosterone options. Whether any of them fits you is a question for a fertility-aware clinician, not a subscription checkout. A compounded blend is not an FDA-approved clomiphene tablet simply because it contains clomiphene. Blokes · Hone · TRT Nation · Taurus · Male Excel · FDA compounding information

Is Blokes legit? What the FDA warning letter was about

Blokes has an active TRT page that says lab work and a clinician visit are required before prescribing. In June 2026 the FDA sent Joi + Blokes a warning letter about how it marketed compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide weight-loss drugs. The letter makes no finding about its testosterone program; that is not an FDA clearance of the program either. Blokes TRT page · FDA letter

The FDA letter, dated June 8, 2026, cited website claims that compounded semaglutide was "bioidentical" to Ozempic and Wegovy. It also cited product images showing "Joi + Blokes" on the label, even though Joi + Blokes isn't the compounder.

The letter asked the company to respond within 15 business days. The FDA page we read did not display a close-out or resolution notice; that does not establish whether the company responded or what later exchanges occurred. FDA letter

Why it matters to a TRT buyer: our editorial takeaway is to check whether product claims match the actual medicine and manufacturer. Apply the same test to every alternative: who makes your medicine, and do the sales claims match the fine print? That's why we flagged Taurus' wording above without claiming it has the same FDA finding.

Blokes' TRT page displays a 4.6 Trustpilot score across 1,421 reviews. The displayed reviews are for Joi + Blokes, not a TRT-only clinical-outcomes study. We did not independently verify the live review count or use it to rate treatment quality. Provider-displayed review widget

We also did not verify the license of an individual clinician who would treat you or the pharmacy that would fill your prescription. Ask for those names before treating an active website or review score as proof of your care arrangements.

Edge cases that change the answer

A few situations change which alternative fits: living in New York or New Jersey, wanting insurance, prepaying past December 31, 2026, wanting a non-injection format, or having a health history that calls for in-person care first. Resolve those questions before comparing a national starting price or paying for a long term.

New York or New Jersey. Blokes shows different pricing in these two states. Ask every provider for your state's price, not the national headline. PeterMD's own lab-order service excludes both states even though its TRT treatment page has a different exclusion list. Blokes · PeterMD labs

Insurance and Medicare. These comparisons use cash-pay offers, not verified insurance benefits. Blokes' Terms say it is not a participating provider in Medicare, Medicaid or other health plans; its TRT FAQ says it does not bill insurance directly. Male Excel describes its program as not covered by insurance. That does not prove that every lab or prescription associated with every online provider must be cash-pay: PeterMD, for example, describes an insurance-related lab-order process with a separate fee. Ask the clinician, lab, pharmacy and insurer separately. Blokes terms · Blokes FAQ · Male Excel pricing · PeterMD labs

HSA or FSA acceptance is not insurance coverage or a guaranteed tax benefit. Blokes offers an HSA/FSA payment process for eligible amounts, and Male Excel marks its offers HSA/FSA eligible. Confirm the expense and documentation rules with your account administrator rather than assuming the whole membership is eligible. Blokes payment FAQ · Male Excel pricing

Prepaying past December 31, 2026. The current federal extension permits qualifying DEA-registered clinicians to prescribe controlled medications through telemedicine without a prior in-person evaluation through December 31, 2026, subject to the rule's conditions and other federal and state requirements. For testosterone, this is not a general audio-only or questionnaire-only prescribing permission. Federal rule · HHS prescribing guidance

A 12-month plan bought on this page's verification date runs about nine months past that date. The extension does not guarantee the conditions for a new online-only TRT patient after December 31, 2026, nor does its end automatically mean all online TRT becomes unavailable. If you prepay past that date, ask in writing what happens to your unused months if an in-person visit becomes necessary or the provider can no longer serve you. Male Excel's site already says a plan may require an in-person medical exam under DEA and state rules. Federal rule · Male Excel terms

Not an injection guy. Blokes lists capsules and creams as alternatives, but its FAQ does not name the capsule's ingredient; do not assume it is oral testosterone. Hone lists compounded cream and troches, Male Excel offers compounded cream, and Taurus lists a gel under a compounded-hormone offer. A troche dissolves in the mouth. Confirm the exact prescription and approval status, not just the treatment format. Blokes · Hone · Male Excel cream · Taurus

When to see someone in person first. Talk with a local doctor or the relevant specialist before choosing another online program if any of these apply:

  • a history of prostate or breast cancer
  • a high red-blood-cell count
  • untreated severe sleep apnea
  • a recent heart attack or stroke
  • abnormal pituitary results
  • symptoms that are sudden or severe

These are reasons for individualized evaluation, not a diagnosis from this page. The Endocrine Society specifically recommends against starting testosterone in several higher-risk settings, including elevated hematocrit, untreated severe sleep apnea and a heart attack or stroke within the previous six months. Urgent symptoms need urgent or emergency care. Clinical guideline

Should you just stay with Blokes?

Staying is worth considering if your clinician says the current care is appropriate, Blokes serves your state, and the treatment, follow-ups and full quote fit your needs. Its $1,188 annual subscription has a lower monthly equivalent than its shorter prepaid plans, but that does not establish the lowest complete first-year cost. A mismatch is a reason to compare alternatives—not to change treatment on your own. Blokes pricing

A quick self-check:

  • My state isn't on Blokes' list of 16, and Blokes has confirmed current access for my prescription.
  • My evaluation, monitoring and fertility plans have been discussed with my clinician.
  • I'm fine with the actual prescribed treatment format, not just a vague promise of cream or capsules.
  • I can pay $447 to $1,188 upfront, plus any initial charge, without strain.
  • I'm okay that prepaid months aren't refunded under the published policy.

All checked? There may be no need to change providers just because a competing ad looks cheaper. Blokes advertises $1 hair-loss and $1 ED medication add-ons for active members, but each prescription still needs a clinical reason; an add-on is not a reason to choose TRT. Blokes member offer

Blokes claims worth double-checking

Check the exact offer, treatment and date rather than carrying a number from an old comparison into a new decision. Here's what Blokes' own page establishes at this check:

Claim to check What the current official page supports
“Only available in 14 states,” including Minnesota and North Dakota Its testosterone FAQ excludes 16 states, including Minnesota and North Dakota, and says it ships to the other states.
“Available in all 50 states + DC” Sixteen states are excluded; confirm DC separately.
Injectable only, “no needle-free options” Its FAQ lists capsules and creams as alternatives, without identifying the capsule ingredient.
“$49 lab + $149/month” The current TRT page lists three prepaid terms; the combined starting evaluation charge needs confirmation.
Offers a specific FDA-approved oral testosterone brand The page names testosterone cypionate and says drugs may include compounded products; that does not verify an approved oral brand.

Source for every row: Blokes' current TRT page. These are checks to make, not a finding that every competing article makes the same claim.

Blokes alternatives FAQ

Blokes alternatives differ most in payment commitments, testing, state access and cancellation terms. These answers use the same source checks and cost assumptions as the comparison above.

What is the best alternative to Blokes? It depends on why you're leaving. For a shorter commitment and a limited membership-fee backstop, consider Male Excel. For a clearly published second-test step, look at Hone Plus. For lower-priced injections without a year-long prepay, compare TRT Nation's full quote. For insurance, fertility or a specific FDA-approved product, start with a clinician who can serve that need. These are fit judgments, not clinical-quality rankings.

Is there a Blokes alternative without a contract? Male Excel advertises no long-term contract, but medication is still prepaid in 60-day blocks. Hone bills membership monthly and records cancellation when its form is submitted; prescriptions require separate cancellation. Taurus' policy requires 72 hours' notice before billing. TRT Nation has a 2.5-month minimum purchase. “Cancel anytime” does not mean every payment is refundable. Male Excel · Hone · Taurus · TRT Nation

Can I get a refund from Blokes? Blokes' refund policy says hormone subscriptions can be canceled but not refunded, and lab sales are final. Its Terms add a three-month minimum and a 30-day cancellation notice. Confirm how those terms apply to your prepaid term and renewal date. Refund policy · Terms

Is Blokes cheaper than Hone Health? Blokes' annual subscription is $1,188 before any separate starting charge. Hone Plus is $1,710–$1,745 for the modeled initial testing and 12 memberships before medication. Blokes has the lower published annual subscription figure, but a complete personal comparison still needs its initial quote and Hone's actual prescription cost. Hone does not require paying a full year of membership upfront. Blokes · Hone Plus · Hone labs · Hone payment terms

Which states does Blokes not ship testosterone to? Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and South Carolina. That is Blokes' own published list, not a list of states where all online TRT is prohibited. Blokes state FAQ

Does Blokes take insurance? Blokes says it does not bill insurance directly. Its Terms say it is not a participating provider in Medicare or Medicaid. It offers an HSA/FSA payment process for eligible expenses, which is not the same as insurance coverage. FAQ · Terms

Is Blokes testosterone FDA-approved? Blokes says its drugs may include compounded products that have not been approved by the FDA. Ask for the exact product and a sample label. An ingredient name such as testosterone cypionate does not answer the approval question for a particular vial. Blokes disclosure · FDA explanation

Will I need new labs if I switch? Possibly. Some providers review recent outside results, but the new clinician decides whether those results and your current monitoring are enough. A new diagnosis calls for symptoms or signs and consistently low results confirmed with appropriate repeat morning testing; someone already on treatment needs an individualized handoff, not a self-directed treatment break. TRT Nation lab policies · Clinical guidance

Can my new provider just continue my Blokes prescription? Not automatically. The new clinician has to evaluate you and may prescribe a different product, dose or pharmacy, or may not prescribe at all. State access, pharmacy access and the applicable prescribing requirements still have to be met. Federal prescribing rule

What was the Blokes FDA warning letter about? Marketing of compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide weight-loss drugs, in June 2026. It did not address testosterone, and it is not an approval or clearance of Blokes' TRT program. FDA warning letter

Are Taurus Meds and Male Excel the same company? We don't know. Taurus' page says its hormones are compounded for “The Excel Advantage HRT program,” which is Male Excel's program name. That wording does not establish a corporate relationship. We could not confirm one from the documents reviewed. Taurus offer · Male Excel guarantee

Can I still get TRT online after 2026? The current federal telemedicine extension runs through December 31, 2026. It does not establish a guaranteed online-only pathway after that date, but its end also does not automatically prohibit all telemedicine TRT. Ask your provider what requirements and refund terms will apply to your situation before prepaying beyond the extension. HHS guidance · Federal rule
