Male Excel vs Blokes comes down to cost and commitment. Blokes' annual plan is $1,188 prepaid, plus starting labs; Male Excel's listed injection-and-thyroid package plus membership starts at $219 monthly, with larger refill bills. Compare Blokes for lower listed annual costs and Male Excel for less prepayment. Neither replaces proper diagnosis or fertility-focused care.1234

Both companies advertise "$99 a month." At Male Excel, that's only the membership. At Blokes, it's a year paid in one lump. Below, we separate published charges from billing assumptions — plus the lab questions, state lists and rules for 2027 that could change your answer.12

Male Excel vs Blokes at a glance

Comparison table: Male Excel vs Blokes at a glance
Male Excel Blokes
What "$99" really means $99 is the required monthly membership. Prescription charges are on top. $99 a month is the 12-month plan, prepaid as $1,188.
Listed monthly equivalent for injections From $219: $120 for the injection-and-thyroid package plus $99 membership $99 to $149, depending on the prepaid term; starting lab extra
Sum of modeled starting charges, not a checkout quote $438: consult/test, one membership charge and one 60-day injection-package fill $596 to $1,337: one $149 starting panel plus the chosen prepaid term
Annual listed-charge subtotal, before unresolved costs $2,727 with six prescription fills; $2,967 with seven $1,337 with the 12-month plan and one $149 starting panel
Minimum commitment Advertises no contract and cancellation at any time General terms set a 3-month minimum; plans prepay 3, 6 or 12 months
Refunds A conditional 90-day guarantee covers three membership payments, not the whole bill General policy says subscriptions and labs are final sale; the lab page lists exceptions
Testosterone formats Provider describes daily under-the-skin injections or twice-daily cream Injections; creams and capsules mentioned as alternatives without an exact product or price
Published starting blood test At-home finger-prick kit, 5 markers Lab blood draw, 56 markers, including a complete blood count
Published follow-up schedule Six-month blood testing and 60-day assessments About 6 weeks after starting, then roughly every 3 months; exact panels need confirmation
States on TRT exclusion lists 11 16
Insurance Cash-pay; advertises HSA/FSA eligibility Does not bill insurance for TRT; advertises HSA/FSA payments through Flex

These are provider-stated offers, checked September 28, 2026, not independently tested services. Shipping, any required extra testing, location-specific lab charges and other unresolved costs are not counted as zero. Full math and sources for each decision follow.156728910

The short version

  • Blokes is the better fit for the lower listed annual cost when TRT is clinically appropriate, you can prepay a term, and your clinician confirms the testing, product and state fit. Its starting panel includes a complete blood count; its plan advertises quarterly hormone labs, not necessarily that entire panel every quarter.28
  • Male Excel is the better fit for less prepayment when diagnosis and monitoring are already resolved, or when you need a publicly priced cream option. Eight states are absent from its TRT exclusion list but excluded by Blokes; that still needs confirmation for your care.152
  • Neither is your first step if symptoms and consistently low testosterone have not been evaluated with appropriate repeat morning testing, fertility is a priority, or a complex medical history needs specialist care. Cancer history, elevated hematocrit, untreated severe sleep apnea, a clotting disorder, or a recent heart attack or stroke deserve that discussion before a purchase.34

TRT Provider Guide is the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy — helping U.S. adults understand how low testosterone is evaluated, compare online and local care models and providers, and choose the next step that fits their health needs, fertility plans, budget, state, and care preferences, with every material claim verified and dated.

Educational information, not medical advice. This comparison concerns adult men being evaluated for testosterone deficiency; it is not a guide to gender-affirming hormone care or performance use. Chest pain, trouble breathing or sudden weakness on one side need emergency care — call 911. A new painful, swollen leg needs prompt medical assessment.11

What we actually verified (September 28, 2026)

We read: Male Excel's pricing, FAQ, testing, guarantee, homepage and terms; Blokes' plan, lab, refund and terms pages; FDA records; the federal telemedicine extension and pending-rule record; the Endocrine Society guideline; and the AUA/ASRM male-infertility guideline.

Confirmed: the published wording of offers, state exclusions, test lists and policies, and the arithmetic shown below. Confirming what a page says is not independent confirmation of the care delivered.

Provider-stated, not tested by us: clinician access, response and shipping times, monitoring delivery, laboratory certification claims, coaching, results and satisfaction claims.

Could not confirm for an individual patient: checkout dates, shipping and taxes, extra diagnostic-test costs, the exact prescription and dispensing pharmacy, assigned clinician credentials, appointment availability, prepaid cancellation deadlines, or all refund exceptions.

A material testing question: Male Excel's homepage says prescribing can occur before lab results arrive. It does not explain there how repeat diagnostic testing or previous results would be handled. Resolve that before treating financial flexibility as a reason to proceed.123

What we did not do: buy either service, complete a checkout, test cancellation, or verify an assigned clinician's license. This is a source-based comparison, not a hands-on review, and it has not been medically reviewed.

A smaller prepayment only helps after the medical questions are answered. For that budget choice, compare Male Excel's membership and prescription charges separately. See Male Excel's current membership and prescription prices → For the lower listed annual rate, see Blokes' current plan prices →

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay. (It's educational and non-diagnostic. It doesn't decide whether you qualify for treatment or guarantee a prescription.)

Male Excel vs Blokes: how much do they really cost?

Blokes has the lower listed annual subtotal: $1,337 including its $1,188 annual plan and one $149 starting panel, versus $2,727 for Male Excel's injection-and-thyroid package with six fills. Those figures are not complete personal quotes: six 60-day fills cover 360 days, and several possible charges remain unknown. The gap comes from how each company bills.128

Here's the catch with both headline prices. Male Excel's "$99" is only the membership. Its own price page says the medication price "does not include Medical Membership, which is required for treatment." Blokes' "$99" is real — but only on the 12-month plan, and you pay all 12 months at once. 12

What you pay, scenario by scenario

Comparison table: What you pay, scenario by scenario
Charge scenario Male Excel injections + thyroid Male Excel cream + thyroid Blokes 12-month Blokes 6-month Blokes 3-month
Sum of starting charges: intake/test, first membership or plan, and initial prescription if separate $438 $462 $1,337 $923 $596
Three membership charges and two prescription fills at Male Excel; one starting panel and one initial term at Blokes $876 $924 $1,337 $923 $596
Annualized subtotal: 12 memberships and 6 fills at Male Excel; 12 months of plans at Blokes $2,727 $2,871 $1,337 $1,697 $1,937
Calendar-year scenario with a seventh Male Excel fill charged before day 365 $2,967 $3,135 $1,337 $1,697 $1,937
Later-year base model: 12 memberships and 6 fills, or 12 months of plans; no new intake/test fee $2,628 $2,772 $1,188 $1,548 $1,788

The first row adds separate starting charges; it is not a verified single checkout or a maximum due before shipping. The second row illustrates early spending, not a guaranteed 90-day bill: a fourth membership charge or a Blokes renewal may fall at that boundary. Annualized figures assume unchanged renewal prices. Later-year figures also assume no new intake or starting panel. All rows exclude the unresolved costs below.113289

How we got these numbers:

  • Male Excel injections: $99 one-time consult (includes the home test kit) + $99 membership × 12 months + $240 per 60-day supply × 6 = $2,727. The published medication package includes testosterone and thyroid; it is not a verified testosterone-only quote.1
  • Male Excel cream: same, with $264 per 60-day supply = $2,871.1
  • Blokes: $149 Complete Hormone Panel (the starting blood test, bought separately) + your plan: $1,188 once (12-month), $774 twice (6-month) or $447 four times (3-month). The $149 panel includes a 30-minute clinician review, so we do not add a separate consultation fee to that route.28
  • Not included anywhere: shipping and handling, any taxes, location-specific lab pricing, optional in-home collection, prescription-price changes, extra diagnostic or monitoring tests, and any separate in-person visit. Their amounts or applicability were not fully disclosed for these scenarios. We did not subtract an unverified discount.11389

Neither provider's public starting offer establishes that every required repeat early-morning diagnostic test is included. Ask for that cost, plus any blood-count testing not included in your plan, before treating a subtotal as your budget.1483

Why Male Excel's bill changes month to month

Male Excel bills medication "Bi-Monthly (every other month)" in 60-day supplies. The membership bills every month. In a calendar-month model for the injection package, that is about $339 in a refill month and $99 in the next month, before extras and excluding the initial consult. That's the split to budget for — not one flat $219 charge.1

One more detail: six 60-day supplies cover 360 days, not 365. If prescription charges occur every 60 days starting on day zero, a seventh falls on day 360. With 12 membership charges and the one-time consult, that makes the listed-charge subtotal $2,967 for injections or $3,135 for cream, before extras. We couldn't confirm the exact billing dates without an account, so ask for your refill schedule in writing.1

Why Blokes' lowest price needs the biggest check

Blokes gives you three choices:

Comparison table: Why Blokes' lowest price needs the biggest check
Blokes plan Paid up front Works out to
Flex $447 for 3 months $149/month
Commit & Save $774 for 6 months $129/month
Full Year $1,188 for 12 months $99/month

Each plan includes testosterone cypionate and supplies, clinician visits, quarterly hormone labs, a 1:1 health coach and messaging, according to Blokes' page. The starting blood test is separate at $149. 28

We did not verify the older "$75" starter button or 65% lab discount on the current pages reviewed, so neither reduces this model. Only count a promotion when the actual order states what it covers, who can use it and the price after the offer ends.28

Paying with HSA or FSA money

Both advertise HSA/FSA payments. Male Excel prints "FSA/HSA Eligible" on its price cards. Blokes takes HSA/FSA payments through a service called Flex. Acceptance does not establish that every membership or service fee is a qualified expense.12

For illustration, if all $1,337 qualifies and eligible pre-tax funds give you a 22% income-tax benefit, the tax saving would be about $294 and the effective after-tax cost about $1,043. The provider still charges $1,337; this is not a discount or a claim about your tax rate. Check the expense and documentation rules with your plan administrator or tax adviser.15

What if TRT isn't for you? Cancel and refund rules

Cancelling future charges and getting money back are two different things. Blokes' general policy makes hormone subscriptions and labs final sale, but its lab page describes refund exceptions whose exact scope needs confirmation. Male Excel advertises no minimum term and a conditional 90-day guarantee covering three membership payments, not the whole bill.108916

This is the section most comparison pages skip. It's also the one that matters most if you've never been on testosterone therapy.

The smallest bet each company lets you make

Comparison table: The smallest bet each company lets you make
Early spending model Male Excel (injections + thyroid) Blokes
Intake, one membership and one prescription fill; or starting panel plus the shortest plan $438 $596 (3-month plan + lab)
Intake, three memberships and two fills; or starting panel plus one selected prepaid term $876 — $579 after a full $297 membership refund, if approved $596 (3-month) · $923 (6-month) · $1,337 (12-month)

These are calculated charge scenarios, not guaranteed exit costs. They exclude extras, do not establish the date a cancellation takes effect, and do not promise a refund. Cancelling billing also does not replace a clinician's plan for changing or ending treatment.1136289

How Male Excel's guarantee actually works

Male Excel's general terms say "all sales are final." The Excel Advantage Guarantee is a written exception for membership fees, and it has rules. From the guarantee's terms page:136

  • You must be a new member and stay on the protocol for 90 continuous days.
  • You have to follow your provider's plan and attend scheduled appointments. You may be asked to document that.
  • If your symptoms haven't improved, you can ask for a refund of your membership fees for those three months — up to $297.
  • You must ask within 30 days after the 90 days end.
  • "Improvement" is measured by Male Excel's own hormone therapy assessment and what you report to your provider.
  • Medication and the consult fee aren't covered. 6

It's not a money-back guarantee on everything. But it is a real, written membership-fee promise. We did not find an equivalent symptom-based membership guarantee in the Blokes policies reviewed.6108

How leaving Blokes actually works

  • Blokes' TRT page advertises easy cancellations.2
  • Its refund page says hormone subscriptions can be cancelled, but paid subscriptions and lab purchases are final sale.10
  • Its terms (last updated September 15, 2025) add two rules: a three-consecutive-month minimum, then cancellation thirty days before the next monthly processing date. That monthly wording does not clearly explain the deadline for every 3-, 6- or 12-month prepaid order.9
  • Its lab page says a clinician finding a prescription inappropriate triggers a refund, and also describes a lab-access problem exception. It does not clearly identify every refundable fee or reconcile those exceptions with the general final-sale policy.8

In plain English: do not assume unused prepaid months will come back. Before paying, get the exact renewal date, cancellation deadline, cancellation method and exceptions for your order in writing. Save the confirmation when you cancel.1098

The honest trade-off

Male Excel is not the cheaper program. In the six-fill annual model, Blokes' annual-plan subtotal is about $1,390 lower. Even Blokes' shortest initial term, at $596 including one $149 panel, is below the $876 Male Excel early-spending scenario — unless the full $297 membership refund is approved. Those are listed-charge comparisons, not guaranteed savings after every extra cost.1628

Male Excel's smaller starting-charge model is $438 rather than Blokes' $596 minimum plan-and-lab model, and its guarantee can return part of the membership cost if you meet the terms. You're paying more for a smaller prepaid commitment, not proof that treatment will work or a risk-free way to try it.1610

If a long prepay is the reason you're hesitating about Blokes, our Blokes alternatives guide compares other options too.

Does that sound like your situation — TRT is medically appropriate, but a long prepaid term does not fit your budget? See Male Excel's current prices and billing schedule →

Does Male Excel or Blokes serve your state?

Your state can decide which provider stays on your shortlist. Thirty-one states appear on neither company's TRT exclusion list; eight are absent from Male Excel's list but excluded by Blokes, three show the reverse, and eight are excluded by both. A missing exclusion is not confirmed prescribing access.52

Both companies publish lists of states where they don't prescribe testosterone. We lined them up side by side (lists checked September 28, 2026):

Comparison table: Does Male Excel or Blokes serve your state?
Your state is... States Count
Not excluded by either Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming 31
Male Excel not excluded; Blokes excluded Delaware, Georgia, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina 8
Blokes not excluded; Male Excel excluded Alaska, Idaho, New Hampshire 3
Excluded by both Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Rhode Island 8

A few things to know:

  • These are the companies' own published lists. A state missing from a list isn't a promise that a clinician can see you today. Confirm current TRT availability for your physical location before paying.52
  • New York and New Jersey: Blokes flags different lab pricing, so do not apply the $149 starting-panel assumption without checking your order.8
  • Washington, D.C.: the treatment-specific exclusion lists do not settle access. Male Excel's general location directory includes D.C. and several states its TRT FAQ excludes, so that directory is not proof of TRT availability.165
  • Labs aren't treatment. Blokes' broad lab-service availability does not override its 16-state testosterone exclusion list.82
  • The rule is where you are, not where you're from. A clinician needs the right authority to treat you where you are physically located. Planning a move? Ask before you prepay.17

In Delaware, Georgia, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania or South Carolina? Male Excel is the one not excluded by its published TRT list. Confirm access rather than assuming it. Check Male Excel's published TRT state restrictions →

In Alaska, Idaho or New Hampshire? Blokes is the one not excluded by its published list — see its plan page. In a state both exclude? Our Blokes alternatives guide and Find My TRT Path can help you compare other care routes, including local primary care and urology.

Injections or cream: what can each actually prescribe?

Male Excel lists daily under-the-skin testosterone cypionate injections or a twice-daily cream and describes its testosterone as compounded in the United States. Blokes lists cypionate injections and mentions creams and capsules as alternatives, without naming those alternative products. Compounded products are not FDA-approved, so ask each company exactly what you'd receive.112218

What each company lists

Comparison table: What each company lists
Treatment format Male Excel Blokes
Injections Provider describes testosterone cypionate, once daily, under the skin, with short insulin-type needles and 60 syringes per 60-day supply; homepage describes its testosterone as compounded Testosterone cypionate; exact manufacturer, approval status and schedule for your prescription need confirmation
Cream Provider lists Testosterone Lipoderm cream, twice daily; its testosterone is described as compounded Cream mentioned as an alternative; exact ingredient, product and price not published on the TRT page
Capsules No testosterone capsule listed in the reviewed offer Capsules mentioned as an alternative; do not assume they contain testosterone without the exact product name

These are published treatment descriptions, not instructions for using a prescription. Your clinician and pharmacist must provide directions for your exact product. Non-testosterone pills are compared separately below.1122

A correction worth making: Blokes is not described as injection-only on its own page, and Male Excel is not needle-free only. Male Excel offers daily injections, and Blokes lists creams and capsules. A listed alternative is not a confirmed product or price for your prescription.12

Male Excel's "daily microdosing"

Male Excel describes small daily injections. The company says its schedule avoids a "roller coaster" of testosterone levels. That's Male Excel's rationale; the material reviewed does not establish better clinical outcomes than other schedules. The practical trade-off is a daily task, not a proven medical advantage. Ask your clinician how the proposed schedule fits your care.1

If you choose a cream, read this

Testosterone gels and creams can rub off on other people. Secondary exposure means someone else comes into contact with the medicine: children may develop early puberty-like changes, and women may develop unwanted hair or acne. Follow your exact prescription's application and skin-contact precautions, and ask the pharmacist to explain them. Do not borrow an application site or set of directions from a different gel or cream.11

Compounded or FDA-approved?

This matters, and it's easy to miss.

  • FDA-approved means the FDA reviewed that exact product for safety, effectiveness and quality before it was sold.
  • Compounded means ingredients were combined, mixed or altered to create a medicine for a particular medical need. The FDA says compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and don't go through that premarket review.18

Male Excel's homepage describes its testosterone as compounded in the United States. Blokes says its drugs may include compounded products, and its terms name seven possible pharmacies across its services. Neither disclosure identifies your exact testosterone product or dispensing pharmacy; a shared ingredient name does not establish the same formulation or FDA status.1229

Ask both, before you pay: "Is my testosterone an FDA-approved product or compounded, and which pharmacy will fill it?"

If you specifically want an FDA-approved testosterone product filled through your own insurance, these cash-pay offers do not establish that path. Male Excel's terms also say it will not send your prescription to a different pharmacy. An insurance-participating primary care doctor, urologist or endocrinologist and a covered pharmacy are the more direct route; the visit may be online or in person where appropriate. Find My TRT Path and our treatment-format guide can help you map the questions.132

The two pills that aren't testosterone therapy

Male Excel's Triclozene contains clomiphene; Blokes separately lists enclomiphene. Clomiphene and enclomiphene are SERMs — selective estrogen receptor modulators — which affect estrogen signaling and can increase the body's own testosterone production in selected patients. They are not testosterone replacement and are not interchangeable with it.124

Comparison table: The two pills that aren't testosterone therapy
Non-testosterone option What the provider lists Approval distinction
Male Excel Triclozene Clomiphene citrate with thyroid and selenomethionine, a selenium-containing ingredient A compounded combination, not an FDA-approved testosterone medicine
Blokes enclomiphene A separate offer advertised at $99/month, not part of the TRT cost model above Enclomiphene alone has no FDA approval for any use

Clomiphene is FDA-approved to treat certain ovulation problems in women, so using it in men is off-label. That approval does not make a compounded combination approved. If fertility is part of why you're looking at these, see a urologist who specializes in male fertility before choosing either program.1219184

How do the blood tests and follow-ups compare?

Blokes lists a 56-marker starting blood draw including a complete blood count; Male Excel lists a five-marker finger-prick kit that does not list hematocrit. Blokes describes a six-week check and roughly quarterly follow-ups, while Male Excel describes six-month blood testing. Confirm the repeat diagnostic tests and exact follow-up panels rather than treating a marker count as proof of better care.82147

Published follow-up timing Every 6 months About 6 weeks after starting, then roughly every 3 months; clinician may vary timing

Sources: Male Excel's hormone test and Excel Advantage pages; Blokes' Complete Hormone Panel and TRT pages. "Not listed" means the marker isn't on the company's published list. It doesn't prove the company never checks it. The test explanations follow the Endocrine Society guideline.147823

Male Excel also advertises a members-only 54-marker 360 panel. We could not establish its full test list, price or inclusion in every plan from that description, so it does not resolve the five-marker starting-kit question.12

Why hematocrit matters

Testosterone therapy can push up the number of red blood cells, making blood thicker. The Endocrine Society guideline calls for hematocrit testing before treatment, again after starting, and during ongoing care. Blokes' published starting panel includes a complete blood count; Male Excel's five-marker list does not.3814

That is a disclosure gap, not an independent safety verdict. Ask: "Will you check my hematocrit before I start and during treatment, and is that included?" If the prescribing service cannot resolve baseline and follow-up testing, take the question to primary care, urology or endocrinology before proceeding. A test arranged separately is not a substitute for a prescriber taking responsibility for the result and care plan.3

Credit where it's due: Blokes publishes a broader starting panel and more frequent routine follow-up timing. That's a real point in its favor for a reader who values those disclosures. It does not prove safer care, better outcomes or a full 56-marker repeat every quarter.82147

A starting test is not a diagnosis

Neither company's first test, on its own, establishes the diagnosis used in the medical guidance discussed here.

  • The Endocrine Society calls for symptoms or signs plus consistently and clearly low testosterone, confirmed with repeat fasting morning testing using an accurate test. Some patients need free-testosterone assessment and further testing to find the cause.3
  • An FDA-approved testosterone cypionate label also calls for morning testosterone measurements on at least two separate days before treatment. A single result or a cut-off such as 300 ng/dL is not a diagnosis by itself. That label is an example of approved-product requirements, not proof that either provider dispenses that product.203

Both companies also work toward what they call "optimal" levels. Blokes' FAQ tells a reader with a level of 350 ng/dL that he "may still be a candidate." Male Excel's pricing FAQ says "most men still experience negative symptoms with normal testosterone levels." Those marketing statements do not replace a diagnosis. Know that going in, and ask each clinician how they confirmed your diagnosis.213

One extra question for Male Excel: its homepage says clinicians may prescribe from symptoms and history before lab results arrive. Ask how prior results, repeat morning testing and baseline safety checks are completed before your first prescription. The public wording does not establish what happened in any individual patient's care.123

Already have recent blood work? Blokes says labs from the last 90 days can be used in some cases, with a $59 consultation to review them. Ask Male Excel the same question. Do not add that $59 automatically to Blokes' $149 panel route, which includes its own clinician review.8

For the testing sequence and questions to bring, see our TRT blood-test guide.

Who is actually treating you?

Both brands' terms separate the platform from the clinicians providing care. Male Excel names physician-owned medical practices; Blokes describes licensed third-party clinicians through affiliated practices. Ask who your assigned prescriber is and verify that person's authority for your location — a named company doctor is not proof of your clinician's credentials.13917

Comparison table: Who is actually treating you?
Male Excel Blokes
Who provides medical care (per terms) Male Excel Medical P.A., Male Excel Medical of California, P.C., Male Excel Medical of Delaware, P.A., Male Excel Medical of Kansas, P.C., and Male Excel Medical of New Jersey, P.C.; terms describe these as independently physician-owned Licensed third-party providers through affiliated practices; the company itself does not practice medicine
Named physician on the site Peter Fotinos, MD, is identified on the site; that does not identify your assigned prescriber We didn't find an assigned prescriber named on the TRT plan page
Ongoing contact Advertised unlimited E-Visits, support messaging and 60-day assessments Advertised clinician visits, a 1:1 health coach and unlimited messaging; not a promise of real-time prescriber replies
Lab The company describes Excel Medical Labs in North Carolina as CLIA-certified; that certification was not independently checked for this comparison Quest (BioReference in NY/NJ), according to the lab page
Pharmacies named The reviewed terms do not identify the pharmacy for your prescription Seven possible pharmacies across its services: Strive Pharmacy, Pharmacy Hub, Tailor Made Compounding Pharmacy, Cadre Labs, Empower Pharmacy, GiftHealth and Partell Pharmacy

The table records provider disclosures, not an independent license or accreditation check. Male Excel's terms identify the laboratory as AEMA Labs; Blokes' pharmacy list does not say all seven dispense its testosterone.131215289

A coaching session is not a prescribing visit. Blokes says its coaches range from nurses and dietitians to personal trainers, and says its health coaches cannot prescribe. Make sure prescription and safety questions reach the prescribing clinician, not just a coach.8

About those pharmacy lists: a list of possible pharmacies isn't the same as knowing which one fills your testosterone. Ask for the name, then you can look up its license with your state board of pharmacy.139

Male Excel's terms also state that medications do not come in child-resistant packaging. Ask the dispensing pharmacist about safe storage and packaging, especially where children could access medicines.13

Refills, support and medical records

Male Excel describes 60-day refill assessments and asks for notice before a scheduled refill when changing treatment format. That is not a verified cancellation deadline. Blokes' prepaid term does not establish how much testosterone ships at once or guarantee a delivery date.529

Ask both how to reach the prescriber between visits, what response time applies, how refill requests are handled and what happens if a shipment is late. We did not verify a patient-specific appointment wait, shipping turnaround or urgent escalation service. These messaging services are not emergency care.139

Before switching or cancelling, ask the medical practice for copies of your lab results, visit notes and medication history, and ask whether portal access continues afterward. We did not establish a clear provider-specific turnaround, fee or post-cancellation access rule for all those records from the public pages reviewed. Get the transfer process in writing rather than assuming the membership portal will stay open.

For a written policy or records-process question, use Male Excel's contact page or Joi + Blokes' contact page, then ask to be directed to the medical practice responsible for your care. These are contact channels, not confirmation that a cancellation or records request has been completed.

Is Blokes legit? What the FDA warning letter says

Blokes has an active public TRT offer describing lab work and a clinician visit; that alone is not proof of the safety or licensing of every individual encounter. On June 8, 2026, the FDA sent Joi + Blokes a warning letter about its marketing of compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, not testosterone. We did not identify a close-out letter in the public records reviewed on September 28, 2026.221

Blokes is the men's side of Joi + Blokes, one company with one website and one set of terms (Joi is the women's side). 92

The FDA's letter, reference number MARCS-CMS 728283, raised two issues after reviewing the website in March 2026:

  1. Pictured labels on compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide showed "Joi + Blokes," suggesting the company made the drugs when it doesn't.
  2. The site called its compounded semaglutide "bioidentical" to Ozempic and Wegovy. The FDA said that implied FDA approval the products don't have. 21

The letter doesn't mention testosterone. It isn't a recall or a ban. It still matters to a testosterone buyer because it concerns the same company's website, not because it proves a problem with that buyer's testosterone prescription. That's why the "which pharmacy makes my testosterone?" question above is worth asking.21

What customers say. Joi + Blokes shows a 4.6 out of 5 TrustScore from 1,423 reviews on Trustpilot (checked September 28, 2026). That profile mixes women's and men's services, so it doesn't tell you much about testosterone care specifically. A reviewer using the name Bobby Cash wrote on July 2, 2026: "They always give options for treatment plans and let you make informed decisions." That's one person's service experience — not proof of medical results. We verified the published post, not the reviewer's treatment or any undisclosed relationship.22

A useful service question to ask is: who handles a refill problem, how quickly can you reach the prescriber, and what happens if care is interrupted?

Is Male Excel legit? What checks out and what to question

Male Excel publishes prices, named medical practices and testing information, but those disclosures are not an independent safety or licensing check. Its homepage allows prescribing before lab results arrive, which needs an explanation before treatment. Its thyroid pricing and 96% results claim also need context rather than being taken at face value.11312

What checks out

  • Its terms name the medical practices providing care and say they are independently physician-owned.13
  • Its pages publish testosterone safety and controlled-substance information. That does not establish that a compounded product is FDA-approved.118
  • Its footer says plainly: "Based on DEA and state laws, your testosterone treatment plan may require an in-person medical exam."6
  • It shows a 4.5 out of 5 TrustScore from 6,577 reviews on Trustpilot (checked September 28, 2026). A reviewer using the name Lorenzo wrote on September 17, 2026: "All of my questions were answered." Again, that's one person's service experience, not a medical result. We verified the published post, not the treatment or any undisclosed relationship.23

For current safety context, the FDA's February 2025 class-wide update removed the boxed-warning language about increased major cardiovascular-event risk and required blood-pressure warnings. It did not make testosterone risk-free or approve it simply for aging-related symptoms. Ask how blood pressure and other risks will be monitored.24

Question 1: the thyroid medicine in the listed packages

Each of Male Excel's three listed price cards comes "with Thyroid." The injection and cream price footnotes combine testosterone and desiccated thyroid, but the homepage says thyroid is prescribed when clinically appropriate. That is not proof every patient must take it or that the testosterone-only price is the same.112

Male Excel's own safety information for that thyroid medicine includes:

  • A boxed warning that thyroid hormone shouldn't be used for weight loss, and that large doses can cause serious or life-threatening effects.
  • A note that it is "not an Orange Book product" — meaning the FDA hasn't rated it as equivalent to an approved drug. 1

Thyroid medicine is used to treat an underactive thyroid. Ask: "Do I have a separate thyroid condition, which exact medicine are you proposing, is it optional, and does my price change without it?"25

There is a current regulatory issue too: the FDA says animal-derived desiccated thyroid medicines are not FDA-approved and are not eligible for compounding because they are regulated as biological products. The agency describes risk-based enforcement, not a blanket instruction for patients to stop treatment. Ask the clinician and pharmacy to explain the exact thyroid product, its status and suitable alternatives before agreeing to a combined plan.25

Question 2: the marketing claims

Male Excel says 96% of patients experience life-changing results in six months. Its homepage does give a source: symptom-review responses from 32,795 members. That is provider-reported feedback, not a published controlled comparison establishing the chance you will benefit; the page does not supply a full study method.12

The price page also calls its cream "20x more powerful than commercial cream." The reviewed material does not establish that this means 20 times the clinical benefit. Don't let either claim carry your decision.1

If the clinician has resolved diagnosis, blood-count monitoring and any thyroid prescription, Male Excel's smaller prepaid commitment may fit your budget. Keep the guarantee's limits in view. Read Male Excel's 90-day membership-guarantee terms →

Will either affect your fertility?

Testosterone therapy from any provider can lower sperm production. The Endocrine Society advises against starting it when near-term fertility is planned, and AUA/ASRM guidance says testosterone alone should not be prescribed to men interested in current or future fertility. Discuss those plans with a reproductive urologist before choosing either program.34

Here's why. Testosterone from outside the body can tell your brain to stop sending the signals (LH and FSH) that keep the testes making sperm. How much it drops, and whether it recovers after stopping, varies from man to man. Nobody can promise either outcome. 4

Keep in mind:

  • Neither company's published starting panel lists LH or FSH. These hormones help a clinician evaluate the cause of low testosterone; a testosterone result or hormone panel alone does not establish fertility.14834
  • A fertility evaluation may involve reproductive history, an examination and semen testing, rather than simply adding a pill to a TRT plan.26
  • Male Excel's Triclozene and Blokes' enclomiphene are not testosterone and not interchangeable with it. Neither should be treated as a fertility guarantee.124

If kids are part of your plan, a reproductive urologist is the right first stop. Our TRT and fertility guide explains the questions to bring.

Can you use insurance, HSA or FSA?

Neither company bills insurance for its TRT program, although both advertise HSA/FSA payments. If you need an FDA-approved testosterone product through insurance, compare an insurance-participating prescriber and a covered pharmacy instead. That care may be online or local, depending on your medical and access needs.13217

  • Male Excel: cash-pay only. It advertises HSA/FSA eligibility; its terms say its services are not billed to Medicare, Medicaid or commercial insurance and restrict submission for reimbursement. It also says it will not send your prescription to a different pharmacy.113
  • Blokes: cash-pay for TRT. It says it can send some non-testosterone medicines (like thyroid medication) to your local pharmacy so you can use insurance there, and it helps with prior authorizations for some FDA-approved weight-loss drugs. Those services do not establish insurance coverage for its TRT plan.28
  • HSA/FSA acceptance isn't an administrator's approval. Keep your receipts and check eligibility and documentation before using those funds. A provider's payment badge does not determine the tax treatment of every charge.15

Our online-versus-local care comparison can help separate appointment convenience from insurance and pharmacy access.

What happens on January 1, 2027?

Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance and requires a valid prescription. The federal temporary rule permits qualifying telemedicine prescribing without a prior in-person visit through December 31, 2026, subject to its conditions and state requirements. A final-stage special-registration rule is under review, but the pending record does not establish the rules that will apply to your care in 2027.202728

Here's the timeline, in plain terms:

  • Now through December 31, 2026: The DEA/HHS fourth temporary extension permits qualifying clinicians to prescribe controlled medicines through telemedicine without a prior in-person evaluation when all applicable conditions are met. For the testosterone pathway discussed here, that includes the required audio-video encounter and proper prescribing authority; an online questionnaire alone is not that encounter.2729
  • August 25, 2026: The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs received the DEA's final-stage rule, Special Registrations for Telemedicine and Limited State Telemedicine Registrations, for review. Its official record was still labeled pending when checked for this comparison.28
  • For 2027: A pending review is not a published final requirement, an automatic extension or proof that online TRT will end. Check the effective rules and your provider's plan before committing beyond the current extension.2827

Why this matters for this choice: a Blokes 12-month plan bought on September 28, 2026 runs into 2027, beyond the current extension. Its general terms limit refunds, subject to the unresolved exceptions above. Male Excel's smaller prepaid commitment reduces the money tied up in advance, but does not guarantee uninterrupted care or exemption from a future in-person requirement. Before prepaying either service, ask this in writing:1081327

"If a federal or state rule requires an in-person visit next year, what happens to my plan and to the money I've already paid?"

Male Excel already warns that its plan "may require an in-person medical exam" under DEA and state law. That's worth hearing, too. 6

Male Excel or Blokes: which should you choose?

Compare Blokes first for the lower listed annual cost if you can prepay and its clinical, product and state requirements fit. Compare Male Excel for a smaller prepaid commitment or a clearly priced cream package, after resolving diagnosis and monitoring. Choose neither yet if testing is incomplete or fertility or a complex health history needs specialist attention.1234

Find yourself in this table:

Comparison table: Male Excel or Blokes: which should you choose?
If you are... Better fit Why
Clinically evaluated and prioritizing a smaller prepaid commitment Male Excel, conditionally $438 starting-charge model versus Blokes' $596 minimum plan-and-lab model; actual billing, testing and extras still need confirmation
Comfortable prepaying a year when clinically appropriate, with listed cost the main concern Blokes $1,337 annual-plan-and-panel subtotal versus Male Excel's $2,727 six-fill model, before unresolved costs
Not willing to use needles Male Excel has clearer public pricing Its cream package is published and priced. Blokes mentions cream but does not publish an exact product or price on the TRT page.
Most focused on a disclosed complete blood count and more frequent routine follow-up Blokes has clearer starting-panel detail Its 56-marker starting panel includes a complete blood count; follow-up hormone labs are advertised roughly quarterly, not necessarily the same full panel
In DE, GA, MO, NC, ND, OK, PA or SC Check Male Excel Not excluded by Male Excel's TRT list; excluded by Blokes. Confirm current prescribing access.
In AK, ID or NH Check Blokes Not excluded by Blokes' TRT list; excluded by Male Excel. Confirm current prescribing access.
In AL, AR, CT, HI, LA, MN, MS or RI Neither on these published lists Both exclude your state. Use Find My TRT Path.
Planning current or future fertility Reproductive urology first Do not treat either a TRT plan or a non-testosterone alternative as a fertility guarantee
Not yet evaluated for symptoms and consistently low morning testosterone Neither yet Start with primary care, a urologist or an endocrinologist
Wanting an FDA-approved product through insurance An insurance-participating prescriber and pharmacy These cash-pay offers do not establish that pathway
Wanting a doctor you can look up by name Verify the assigned clinician at either provider A named founder or medical practice does not identify who will treat you or establish that person's state authority

The financial and disclosure judgments above use the published offers, not a score for clinical quality.15281393417

Our editorial take: Male Excel is not the cheaper program. For a reader whose diagnosis and monitoring are settled and whose main concern is a large prepayment, its smaller commitment is the reason to keep it on the shortlist. It costs more, and we've shown you exactly how the listed bills compare. If a full-year prepayment fits your budget and care plan, Blokes has the lower listed annual subtotal. Neither price structure answers whether TRT is right for you.123

If you'd rather avoid a year of prepayment, compare the separate membership, prescription and test charges before taking the next step. Review Male Excel's itemized starting prices → For a prepaid plan, review Blokes' term lengths and prices on its site →

Questions to ask before you pay either one

Get written answers to these before any card is charged. The two that matter most are "What exactly will I be charged, and on what dates?" and "Is my testosterone FDA-approved or compounded, and which pharmacy fills it?" Written answers beat headline prices every time.

Ask Male Excel:

  1. What will I pay on day one, and what are my exact monthly and 60-day charge dates? Could a seventh prescription fill be charged before day 365?
  2. How much are shipping, handling and any taxes on each refill?
  3. Will you check my hematocrit before I start and during treatment? Is it included, and what does the 360 panel add or cost?
  4. Is the thyroid medicine optional? What separate diagnosis supports it, which product would I receive, and does my price change without it?
  5. Is my testosterone compounded or an FDA-approved product, and which pharmacy fills it?
  6. How do I claim the 90-day guarantee, and what documentation do you need?
  7. How is low testosterone confirmed before prescribing? Are two separate early-morning tests included, and how does that fit the website's statement about prescribing before results arrive?
  8. If a rule requires an in-person visit, how and where would that happen, and who pays?
  9. How are blood pressure and other treatment risks monitored, and how do I reach my prescriber between visits?
  10. How do I cancel future charges, obtain confirmation and get my medical records for another clinician?

Ask Blokes:

  1. What are my exact lab, consultation, plan, shipping and location-specific charges? Does any current promotion change the total or later renewals?
  2. Is my testosterone FDA-approved or compounded, and which of your listed pharmacies fills it?
  3. Who is my prescribing clinician, and what are their credentials and authority for my location?
  4. What treatment schedule would the clinician prescribe, how much medication ships at a time, and how are late refills handled?
  5. What's my exact renewal date, and what's the last day and method to cancel before it renews?
  6. What specific charges are refunded if a clinician decides treatment isn't right for me, or if I cannot complete the lab draw?
  7. What happens to my prepaid plan if I move to a state you don't serve?
  8. If a rule requires an in-person visit in 2027, what happens to my prepaid months and who arranges the visit?
  9. Is repeat early-morning diagnostic testing included before prescribing? Which markers, including hematocrit, are repeated at follow-ups?
  10. How do I reach the prescriber rather than a coach, and obtain my records if I leave?

Ask yourself:

  1. Would I be okay with a prepaid amount being nonrefundable if I could not continue, except where a written exception applies?
  2. Do I want children now or in the future?
  3. Have the diagnosis, treatment need and monitoring plan been explained well enough for me to make this decision?

You can copy this request into a message to either provider: "Please send an itemized quote, billing and refill dates, included diagnostic and follow-up tests, the exact medication and pharmacy, cancellation and refund terms, and the process for obtaining my records. Please identify any charges that remain unknown."

How we compared Male Excel and Blokes

We read both companies' own pricing, plan, testing, refund, guarantee and terms pages on September 28, 2026, plus FDA records, the federal telemedicine extension, the pending-rule record, and the Endocrine Society and AUA/ASRM guidelines. We recalculated every total ourselves. We did not buy either service, so this is a comparison, not a hands-on review.

This comparison follows How We Review TRT Providers, our documented method. It looks at clinical eligibility, testing, clinician access, state availability, treatment formats, medication and pharmacy transparency, fertility handling, monitoring, total cost, cancellation, support and claims transparency.

We sort every statement into four types:

  • Verified fact: a calculation, published record or medical standard supported by the source identified. Checking a provider page verifies its wording, not every patient experience.
  • Provider-stated: an offer, policy, service description or result the company publishes. We label these separately from independently tested care.
  • Customer experience: what an individual reviewer reported. Useful for service questions, never proof of medical results.
  • Editorial judgment: our conclusion, drawn from the evidence above and labeled as ours.

We don't use star ratings or numeric scores for providers, and inclusion isn't an endorsement. For the full single-provider breakdowns, see our Male Excel cost guide and Blokes TRT cost guide.

Male Excel vs Blokes: frequently asked questions

Blokes has the lower listed annual subtotal, while Male Excel requires less prepayment in the starting model. Neither published offer settles every diagnostic-test cost, refund exception or prescribing requirement, so use the answers below with the detailed comparison above.12810

Is Male Excel or Blokes cheaper?

Blokes has the lower listed annual subtotal: $1,337 with its annual plan and one $149 panel, versus $2,727 for Male Excel's injection-and-thyroid package with six fills. Male Excel's subtotal becomes $2,967 if a seventh fill is charged before day 365. Male Excel has the smaller starting-charge model, $438 versus $596; none of these figures includes every possible extra charge.128

Does Male Excel's $99 include testosterone?

No. The $99 per month is the required Medical Membership. The listed injection-and-thyroid package starts at $120 per month and the cream-and-thyroid package at $132 per month, with 60-day supplies billed separately, plus a one-time $99 consultation and shipping. Ask for a testosterone-only quote if thyroid medicine is not part of your care.1

Do I pay Blokes all at once?

Yes. Blokes charges $447 for 3 months, $774 for 6 months, or $1,188 for 12 months, up front. The $149 starting lab is separate. 28

Can I get a refund from Blokes?

The general policy says paid hormone subscriptions and labs are nonrefundable, while the lab page lists exceptions for an inappropriate prescription and certain lab-access problems. The terms set a three-month minimum and refer to 30 days' cancellation notice before a monthly processing date. Get the exact refund scope and prepaid renewal deadline for your order in writing.1089

What is Male Excel's guarantee?

If you're a new member, follow the protocol for 90 continuous days, and your symptoms don't improve, you can request a refund of those three months of membership fees (up to $297). You must ask within 30 days after the 90 days end. Medication isn't covered. The consult fee is not covered either.6

Which states does Male Excel not serve?

Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Rhode Island (checked September 28, 2026). 5

Which states does Blokes not serve for TRT?

Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and South Carolina (checked September 28, 2026). 2

Does Blokes offer testosterone cream?

Blokes' TRT page mentions creams and capsules as alternatives to injections, but does not identify the exact cream product or price. Male Excel lists a testosterone-and-thyroid cream package at $132 per month plus membership. Confirm the ingredient, formulation, pharmacy and total price rather than assuming both offers are equivalent.21

Is Male Excel's testosterone FDA-approved?

Male Excel's homepage describes its testosterone as compounded in the United States. Compounded medicines are not FDA-approved. Blokes says its drugs may include compounded products. Ask either company for your exact product and pharmacy. 12218

Is Blokes the same company as Joi + Blokes?

Yes. Blokes is the men's side of Joi + Blokes, which shares one website, one set of terms and one Trustpilot profile with Joi, its women's brand. 922

Did the FDA warn Blokes about testosterone?

No. The FDA's June 8, 2026 warning letter to Joi + Blokes concerned how it marketed compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide weight-loss drugs. It doesn't mention testosterone. 21

Are Male Excel's blood tests done at home?

Yes. Male Excel uses a finger-prick blood-spot kit you mail back. Its five-marker kit lists total testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, free T3 and PSA; the program describes six-month blood testing. It also advertises a separate members-only 360 panel whose exact inclusion needs confirmation. Blokes generally uses a lab blood draw, with an in-home option in some areas.147128

Do I need an in-person visit for online TRT?

It depends. The federal temporary rule permits qualifying telemedicine prescribing without a prior in-person visit through December 31, 2026, but it does not waive all encounter, prescribing or state requirements. A clinician may still require an in-person evaluation. The pending special-registration record does not establish your 2027 care requirements.272928

Can I switch from Blokes to Male Excel?

You can request an evaluation, but acceptance, timing and treatment are not guaranteed. Confirm state access, a clinician-led transfer plan, records and refill continuity before changing providers; a new clinician may not continue the same prescription. Get Blokes' exact renewal deadline and refund terms for your prepaid order, and don't stop or change prescribed testosterone without talking to a clinician.513910

Will TRT affect my fertility?

It can. Testosterone therapy can lower sperm production, and no one can promise whether or how fast it recovers. Discuss current or future plans for children with a reproductive urologist before choosing a testosterone plan or an alternative drug.34
