Taurus Meds vs Blokes: Which Online TRT Program Fits You?
Compare Taurus Meds and Blokes on published annual costs, prepayment, labs, state limits, refunds and care fit before you pay.
Last updated: September 28, 2026
Taurus Meds vs Blokes favors Blokes on annual price: $1,337 versus $1,837 in our base-cost model, before extras. Blokes fits readers who accept prepayment and its state limits. Taurus has a smaller $49 testing entry, but its $149 rate is not verified month-to-month. Neither treatment plan belongs before proper evaluation or a needed fertility discussion. 1 5 6 15

Taurus Meds vs Blokes: what differs at a glance?
Taurus Meds advertises a $49 blood test and consultation, then treatment from $149 a month without stating the commitment on that offer page. Blokes sells treatment in prepaid 3-, 6- or 12-month blocks; our comparison uses its $149 starting panel. Blokes publishes more of its testing and state rules, but neither public price is a complete personal quote. 1 5 6

Provider-published facts checked September 28, 2026. Price and commitment sources: 1, 3, 5, 14. Refunds: 4, 7, 8. Labs, formats, pharmacies and insurance: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16. Totals assume unchanged prices and leave unresolved shipping, tax, extra tests and collection charges outside the model. They are subtotals, not complete quotes.
The part that needs a closer look is where the lines cross — and how much you have committed if treatment is not suitable, a clinician says no, or prescribing rules change. We lined both companies up month by month. It's below.
Taurus is worth comparing if you:
- want a $49 blood test and consultation before comparing treatment commitments
- want to pay one month at a time and will get that specific offer confirmed in writing
- live in one of the 16 states Blokes won't serve and Taurus confirms it can treat you there
- want a testosterone gel option, not just shots 1 3 14
Blokes is likely the better fit if you:
- expect ongoing clinician-supervised treatment and accept the annual plan's nonrefundable prepayment
- live in a state Blokes serves
- want a named 56-marker lab panel, scheduled follow-up labs and a health coach 5 6 7
Hold off on a treatment commitment with either if: symptoms or signs and repeat morning blood tests have not confirmed low testosterone, you need a fertility discussion, or you need an insurance-billed care path for an FDA-approved product. 5 15 17
TRT Provider Guide is the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy — helping U.S. adults understand how low testosterone is evaluated, compare online and local care models and providers, and choose the next step that fits their health needs, fertility plans, budget, state, and care preferences, with every material claim verified and dated.
Everything we verified here comes from what the companies publish and from official sources; customer reports are labeled separately. It's not an audit of anyone's personal care, and it's not a promise that either company will honor a specific quote.
Educational information, not medical advice. Only a clinician who knows your history can decide whether testosterone is right for you. If you have chest pain, trouble breathing, sudden weakness or trouble speaking, call 911.

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay. (The tool is educational. It doesn't diagnose anything or guarantee a prescription.)
Which is cheaper, Taurus Meds or Blokes?
Blokes has the lower modeled annual subtotal: $1,337 on its 12-month plan versus $1,837 at Taurus's advertised $149 rate, before unresolved extras. But Blokes charges treatment up front and says prepaid plans can't be refunded. A lower Taurus starting payment does not establish a cheaper exit, because its billing term is not settled by the live offer. 1 3 5 6 7
Here's the problem with comparing "$99 a month" to "$149 a month." One is a yearly bill divided by twelve. The other also needs a contract check; a monthly rate is not proof of a monthly commitment.
We added the selected starting lab to each treatment plan, then separated price arithmetic from the rules that decide what you owe if you leave.
The annual base-cost comparison
| Offer modeled | Calculation for 12 treatment months | Base subtotal | Commitment caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taurus advertised $149 rate | $49 + 12 × $149 | $1,837 | Current payment schedule and exit terms need confirmation |
| Taurus $199 monthly option in its May 2026 release | $49 + 12 × $199 | $2,437 | Dated company-stated option, not a verified current checkout offer |
| Blokes Flex | $149 + 4 × $447 | $1,937 | Four three-month blocks, assuming unchanged renewal prices |
| Blokes Commit & Save | $149 + 2 × $774 | $1,697 | Two six-month blocks, assuming unchanged renewal prices |
| Blokes Full Year | $149 + $1,188 | $1,337 | Twelve months prepaid |
Our calculations, using the published offers and the dated company release. Extra required tests, applicable collection charges, shipping, tax and any separate fees are not established for a personal order. 1 3 5 6 14
The break-even month — math, not an exit quote
The Taurus columns below do not show a verified cancel-any-month offer. They show what each month would add at the advertised rate. A six-month commitment, advance billing or extra charge could make the amount you owe very different.
For Blokes, the cheapest-block column assumes you selected the least expensive combination for that duration at the outset, at unchanged prices. It is not a promise that you can switch plans mid-term or get prepaid months refunded.
| Treatment months modeled | Taurus $49 + $149 per month: price math only | Taurus price math with one $17.99 fee each month | Blokes: cheapest prepaid block for that duration | Blokes: annual plan selected at the start |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 month | $198 | $215.99 | $596 (3-month plan) | $1,337 |
| 2 months | $347 | $382.98 | $596 | $1,337 |
| 3 months | $496 | $549.97 | $596 | $1,337 |
| 4 months | $645 | $716.96 | $923 (6-month plan) | $1,337 |
| 5 months | $794 | $883.95 | $923 | $1,337 |
| 6 months | $943 | $1,050.94 | $923 | $1,337 |
| 7 months | $1,092 | $1,217.93 | $1,337 (12-month plan) | $1,337 |
| 8 months | $1,241 | $1,384.92 | $1,337 | $1,337 |
| 9 months | $1,390 | $1,551.91 | $1,337 | $1,337 |
| 10 months | $1,539 | $1,718.90 | $1,337 | $1,337 |
| 11 months | $1,688 | $1,885.89 | $1,337 | $1,337 |
| 12 months | $1,837 | $2,052.88 | $1,337 | $1,337 |
Our arithmetic, using prices checked September 28, 2026. Taurus: $49 test and consult plus $149 per modeled month. The fee column assumes one extra charge each month, which the Terms do not establish for every plan. Blokes: $149 panel plus the selected prepaid block. The table leaves out shipping, tax, extra tests, home blood-draw fees, renewal price changes and charges caused by missed cancellation deadlines. It does not advise stopping treatment at any particular month. 1 3 5 6 7 8
What the table says, in one line: $1,337 falls below $49 plus nine $149 charges, or eight $149 charges with eight $17.99 fees. That crossover is arithmetic, not proof Taurus lets you leave without further charges.
At six months, Blokes' six-month subtotal is $20 below the Taurus $149-rate calculation, or $127.94 below the version with six $17.99 fees. Using the dated $199 monthly option instead would change the annual-plan crossover to month seven, before fees. Your actual quote decides which comparison applies.
Why Blokes' $99 isn't a $99 bill
Blokes lists three plans on its TRT page. The $99 rate only exists inside the 12-month plan, and Blokes charges the full $1,188 at checkout. Add the $149 starting panel and your first year averages about $111 a month. 5 6
There's no one-month TRT plan on the Blokes pricing page we reviewed. The shortest is three months, paid at once. Its Terms also set a three-month minimum. We break down every Blokes line item in our Blokes TRT cost guide. 5 8
Why Taurus's $149 needs two questions answered
Taurus's $49 offer page says the $149 medication price is all-inclusive, with "No membership fees. No hidden fees." 1
Its Terms of Service say something else. Section 28 sets a recurring $17.99 membership fee per billing period, charged automatically "unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase." That exception may be exactly how the offer waives it. Twelve such charges would add $215.88; the Terms do not establish twelve charges for every plan. 3
The second question is the commitment. A May 28, 2026 release distributed under Taurus Medical, Inc.'s name lists $149 a month with a six-month commitment and $199 month-to-month. It is dated provider-stated pricing, not proof of today's checkout terms. The live $49 offer does not settle which term you would receive. 14 1
One more loose end: Taurus's homepage advertises a free testosterone test. The offer page charges $49. Ask which one applies to you. 2 1
More detail is in our Taurus Meds cost guide.
What still needs a personal quote
A blank line on a price page isn't a $0 line. Budget for, or ask about:
- Shipping and tax. Both companies' terms allow applicable charges at purchase. Taurus also advertises free shipping on its blood-test page; confirm what applies to treatment deliveries. 3 8 16
- A second morning testosterone test. Guidelines call for repeat testing to confirm low testosterone (more on that below). Ask whether it's included. 15
- Home blood draws. Blokes lists about $100 for an in-home draw where available, and $99 mobile draws in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island. Taurus sends a free home kit if you live more than 50 miles from a LabCorp or Quest. 6 1
- Bigger lab panels. Blokes sells 71- and 110-marker upgrades separately. 6
- Renewal prices and terms at the end of your selected block, not just after the first year.
The honest trade-off
Taurus does not publish a complete marker list or state list in the pages we reviewed, and its advertised rate does not match Blokes' annual subtotal. If a named 56-marker lab panel and the lower annual base cost are what you care about most — and you accept prepayment after confirming your care needs and state — Blokes has the stronger price case. See Blokes' current prepaid plans, and read our Blokes cost breakdown first. 1 5 6 16
Taurus's published starting-price advantage is the $49 test-and-consult offer versus the selected $149 Blokes panel. Those are not identical tests. That smaller entry price is useful, but it does not prove you can try treatment for $198 and walk away. Get the treatment commitment and first charge in writing before completing the intake. 1 4 6 16
Want a smaller testing entry, but not a surprise treatment commitment? Compare the offer, then use the Taurus questions below to get your rate, billing block and cancellation terms in writing:
→ Read Taurus's current $49 starting offer
The $49 covers a blood test and consultation. Treatment is only prescribed if a clinician decides it's appropriate. 1
What happens to your money if you quit or get turned down?
Canceling future billing is not the same as getting prepaid money back. Taurus requires at least 72 hours' notice before billing, but its refund language does not give one clear rule for every charge after medical disqualification. Blokes has a three-month minimum, a 30-day notice rule in its Terms, and a policy calling prepaid plans and labs final. 3 4 7 8
This is where the two companies differ most. Here's each moment, from their own documents.
Money at risk, moment by moment
| Moment | Taurus Meds | Blokes |
|---|---|---|
| You buy the blood test | $49. Terms say bloodwork is nonrefundable because the lab order is placed after purchase. | $149 for the panel modeled here. Refund policy says lab sales are final. |
| Your first treatment charge | Refund policy: charged when you finish the intake form. Offer-page FAQ: medication payment follows labs but precedes the clinician call. Ask which sequence applies. | Published sequence: results visit, then a plan of $447, $774 or $1,188 paid up front if prescribed. |
| A clinician says TRT isn't right for you | One paragraph promises a full refund; later text limits the refund to remaining subscription charges and the most recent billing cycle. Confirm each payment separately. | Lab-page FAQ: you'll be refunded. Refund policy: subscriptions and labs are final. These conflict. |
| You want to stop | Request cancellation at least 72 hours before your billing date, or another cycle is charged. Cancellation does not establish a right to leave a longer paid term early. | Three-month minimum. Cancel 30 days before the next processing date after your initial commitment. Prepaid months aren't refunded under the refund policy. |
| A "results" guarantee | Offer page: full refund if you don't see serious results within 90 days, minus lab and pharmacy fees. Refund policy: no guarantee of results, no refunds except disqualification. Don't count on the guarantee unless Taurus confirms it for your order in writing. | No general results guarantee found in the TRT documents reviewed. |
| Treatment money committed | Depends on your offer and billing term; not established as one month | $447, $774 or $1,188 prepaid; the lab and any extras are additional |
Taurus Terms (updated June 24, 2025), refund policy (updated February 28, 2026) and $49 offer page; Blokes refund policy, Terms of Use (updated September 15, 2025), TRT page and lab page. All checked September 28, 2026. 1 3 4 5 6 7 8
Our read: both companies have loose ends. Taurus's documents contradict each other on timing and the guarantee. Blokes' documents contradict each other on disqualification refunds. The difference we can establish is Blokes' published prepaid blocks versus Taurus's unresolved purchase-specific commitment — not one month of exposure versus twelve.
How to cancel each one
Taurus: Contact customer service or use your online account, at least 72 hours before your billing date. Service continues to the end of the cycle you've paid for. See our Taurus Meds cancellation guide. 4
Blokes: Its help center says you can cancel in the patient portal under Home → Subscriptions. You can also email info@joiandblokes.com (its Terms list 720-828-8596). Blokes' Terms tie the deadline to 30 days before the next monthly processing date after your commitment ends — which doesn't cleanly explain a prepaid 3-, 6- or 12-month plan. Ask for your exact cutoff date when you buy. A portal cancellation option does not promise a refund or erase the stated commitment. 8 23
For either one: get the confirmation in writing, save the reference, and check your statement after the date you would have renewed.
What customers say about billing and canceling
These are single experiences, not proof of how either company treats everyone.
"Canceling was very easy to accomplish." — P Von, Taurus reviewer, Trustpilot, September 26, 2026 19
Earlier that month, Taurus reviewer David Arvin reported being billed twice before seeing a provider and not receiving medication (Trustpilot, September 14, 2026). On the Joi + Blokes profile, Kimberley Shearer praised the providers but said automatic billing did not always match their directions (posted September 2, 2026). Mixed signals — which is exactly why the written answers matter. 19 20
Worried about paying and then hearing "no"? Get a written answer for the lab payment, first treatment charge and any remaining commitment. The public refund wording does not settle all three.
→ Copy the Taurus billing and refund questions
Ask for the timing of your first treatment charge before you complete the intake.
Can you use Taurus Meds or Blokes in your state?
Blokes says it can't prescribe or ship testosterone to 16 states, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia and Minnesota. We did not find a complete Taurus state list in the pages reviewed. In a Blokes-excluded state, Taurus is an option to investigate only after it confirms coverage; another state-authorized provider or local clinician may be the better path. 1 3 5 26
Blokes' TRT page lists these exclusions: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and South Carolina. That's Blokes' own service list — not a statement that TRT is illegal in those states. 5
One trap to avoid: Blokes' lab page says its prescription services are available in all 50 states. That broad statement does not override the testosterone-specific exclusions. Check them before paying for a lab with the aim of getting TRT through Blokes; the lab may have other uses, but it does not establish TRT access. 5 6
We checked Taurus's homepage, $49 offer page, blood-test page, Terms and refund policy on September 28, 2026. None provides a complete TRT state list. 1 2 3 4 16
Where to go, state by state
| Where you live | Blokes | Taurus | Your practical next step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Any of the 34 states not on Blokes' exclusion list | Not excluded by its published list; confirm clinician availability | Coverage not established here | Check both providers' current access, then use the cost and refund tables. |
| Delaware, Georgia, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina | Not available, per Blokes | Ask Taurus before paying | These eight states are not on Male Excel's exclusion list. Compare it only after checking current access and fit. |
| Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Rhode Island | Not available, per Blokes | Ask Taurus before paying | Male Excel excludes these too. Ask a local clinician or another provider authorized in your state; Taurus coverage is not established. |
Blokes list from its TRT page; Male Excel list from its FAQ. Both checked September 28, 2026. The eight-state comparison is our subtraction of the published exclusion lists, not a test of appointment availability. 5 18
New York and New Jersey: Neither is on Blokes' TRT exclusion list, but it flags different pricing. Ask for your lab and treatment quote first. 5 6
Where you are during the visit matters. A clinician generally has to be allowed to treat you in the state where you're physically located when the visit happens. Your answer on an intake form doesn't change that. 26
In a state Blokes skips? Ask Taurus to confirm both prescribing and medication delivery before paying. We did not complete its intake or verify that it screens every location before a charge.
→ Use the Taurus state-availability question

What do you actually get: labs, clinicians, medicine and pharmacy?
Blokes names a 56-marker starting panel and says follow-up labs come about 6 weeks after you start, then about every 3 months, with wider spacing possible once stable. Taurus advertises an eight-marker test but does not name the full panel or settle its TRT follow-up schedule. Both name partner pharmacies, but the pages reviewed do not identify your assigned testosterone dispenser. 3 5 6 8 16
The starting blood test
A few terms first, in plain English:
- Total testosterone: all the testosterone in your blood.
- Free testosterone: the small share that is not bound to blood proteins. It is not the only share available to tissues; some testosterone is loosely bound to a protein called albumin.
- SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin): a protein that carries testosterone around.
- Hematocrit: the share of your blood made of red blood cells. Testosterone can raise it, so clinicians watch it.
- PSA (prostate-specific antigen): a blood test used to help check the prostate.
- LH and FSH (luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone): signals from the pituitary gland at the base of your brain. They help a clinician tell whether the problem starts in the testes or in the brain's control system. 15
| Lab detail | Taurus Meds | Blokes |
|---|---|---|
| Where you test | LabCorp or Quest; offer says a free at-home kit if you live more than 50 miles from one | Quest (BioReference in NY/NJ); in-home draw about $100 where available |
| Markers named | Eight advertised on the blood-test page, but the names are not listed | 56, including total and free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol, hematocrit, PSA and prolactin |
| LH and FSH | Not stated | Not on the published list |
| Published timing — not the same milestone | Taurus says testing to medication takes 1–2 weeks on average | Blokes says most lab results take 7–14 days |
| Outside labs | Not addressed on the pages we checked | Labs from the last 90 days may be used in some cases, with a $59 review visit |
Provider-published lab details; not independently tested. 1 6 16
A long marker list isn't the same as a confirmed diagnosis. If your clinician needs LH, FSH or a second morning test, your real starting cost can rise at either company unless those tests are included. Our TRT blood test guide explains what each test is for. 15
Taurus's enclomiphene product page describes a retest after 30 days, but that does not establish the schedule or included costs for every testosterone plan. Ask for the testosterone-specific testing plan, including what happens after the first refill. 31
Who you actually talk to
Taurus describes an online video consultation with a licensed clinician. Its Terms name OpenLoop Health, Inc. as its partner management company, and Taurus says it works with clinicians licensed in the state they prescribe in. Its blood-test page advertises a 15-minute private video consultation. These are provider statements, not our check of an assigned clinician's license. 1 3 16
Blokes includes a 30-minute clinician visit with the $149 panel, and its TRT page advertises 30–60 minute consults. It also offers unlimited messaging and a 1:1 health coach. Blokes itself says its coaches are not doctors and can't prescribe or give medical advice. Its homepage names Dr. Melissa Loseke, DO, as medical director. 5 6 9
We didn't test response times at either company. A named medical director is not necessarily your treating clinician. Get the assigned clinician's name, credential and state license before relying on a provider's general licensing claim. 22 26
Testosterone treatment formats
Taurus lists injectable testosterone cypionate and testosterone gel. The exact product, formulation and schedule must come from the prescribing clinician; the format listing is not a dosing instruction. 1
Blokes says injections of testosterone cypionate are its preferred option, and mentions capsules and creams for men who don't want needles. It doesn't name those alternative products or price them separately. Ask. 5
Enclomiphene is a non-testosterone alternative, not TRT
Both companies also sell enclomiphene. That's a different drug that can stimulate your body's own testosterone production. It is not testosterone replacement therapy. Compounded enclomiphene is not FDA-approved, and an offer for it does not prove fertility protection. Discuss fertility goals with a urologist or reproductive urologist; our TRT and fertility guide explains why that discussion comes first. 11 17 30 31 32
FDA-approved or compounded?
Two words, two very different things:
- FDA-approved means the FDA reviewed that exact drug product for safety, effectiveness and quality before it went on sale. 33
- Compounded means a pharmacy mixed or altered ingredients to make the medicine. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA doesn't review their safety, effectiveness or quality before they're sold. 11
Blokes says plainly that its drugs may include compounded products the FDA hasn't approved. 5
Taurus says two different things. Its homepage lists "FDA-approved medications" among its features. Its $49 TRT offer page says its hormones are compounded. A company can offer both approved and compounded products, so this is not proof that every statement is false. It does leave your exact prescription unresolved. Ask Taurus, in writing, which one you'd receive. 1 2 11
Whichever you choose, get the exact product name before you pay. A treatment format like "injection" or "cream" doesn't tell you whether a product is FDA-approved. Ask for the manufacturer and current prescribing information for an approved product, or the ingredients, strength and dispensing pharmacy for a compounded preparation. Our injections vs gel guide separates treatment-format preferences from product status. 11 29 33
Which pharmacy fills it
Taurus's Terms name four partner pharmacies: RedRock Pharmacy, Health Warehouse, Precision Compounding Pharmacy and Triad Rx. 3
Blokes' Terms name seven: Strive Pharmacy, Pharmacy Hub, Tailor Made Compounding Pharmacy, Cadre Labs, Empower Pharmacy, LillyDirect Self Pay Pharmacy Solutions (GiftHealth) and Partell Pharmacy. 8
A partner list isn't your pharmacy. These lists cover the companies' services; they do not show that every named pharmacy dispenses TRT or identify your own dispenser. Ask for its legal name, address and license details, then check with your state board of pharmacy. We did not audit these pharmacies' licenses. Add that request to the Taurus questions or Blokes questions below.
Refills and shipping between visits
A prepaid treatment term is not proof that all medication ships at once. Neither program's documents reviewed here established your full refill calendar, supply per shipment or what happens if a required follow-up test delays a refill. Ask for those details before choosing a long commitment.
Blokes' help center says tracking appears in its portal for only some partner pharmacies, so a missing tracking number does not always mean an order has not shipped. It directs tracking questions to info@joiandblokes.com. That is a published support process, not a delivery-time guarantee. 25
Extras
Blokes offers erectile dysfunction (ED) and hair-loss medicines for $1 a month each to active TRT or enclomiphene members. Taurus sells its ED product separately. Neither is part of TRT, and each still needs its own clinical approval. 1 5
Where do their sales pages and fine print disagree?
Both companies make promises on their sales pages that their own terms qualify or leave unclear. At Taurus, the gaps involve commitments, fees, product identity and refunds; at Blokes, they involve cancellation, state coverage and refunds. The table separates direct conflicts from differences that may reflect separate offers or services. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 14
We read each company's marketing next to its own legal documents and dated pricing statements. Here are the material gaps found in the pages reviewed on September 28, 2026.
| Company | What the sales page says | What the other documents say — and what remains open |
|---|---|---|
| Taurus | $149 per month | May 2026 company release: six-month commitment at $149, or $199 month-to-month. Current order terms need confirmation. |
| Taurus | No membership fees | Terms §28: $17.99 per billing period, unless otherwise stated at purchase |
| Taurus | Homepage: FDA-approved medications | $49 offer page: its hormones are compounded. Different products may explain this; neither identifies your prescription. |
| Taurus | 90-day results guarantee | Refund policy: no guarantee of results; refunds only for medical disqualification |
| Taurus | $49 blood test (offer page) | Free testosterone test (homepage). These may be separate promotions; confirm eligibility and attached commitments. |
| Taurus | "Helped over 100,000 men" | Same page: "Helped over 40,000 Patients." Neither count has a clear scope or date. These lower-bound claims are not necessarily contradictory; we did not verify either total. |

This isn't an accusation. Some of these have innocent explanations, like a fee waived at checkout. It's a to-do list: each row is a question to put in an email before your card comes out. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 14
Is Taurus Meds legit? Is Blokes legit?
Both have live U.S.-focused services, legal terms and named pharmacy partners; that is not an audit of your assigned clinician or dispenser. In June 2026 the FDA sent Joi + Blokes a warning letter about how it marketed compounded weight-loss drugs — not testosterone. Taurus's document conflicts also need answers before payment. 1 3 5 8 10
The FDA letter to Blokes, in plain words
On June 8, 2026, the FDA sent a warning letter to Joi and Blokes (reference MARCS-CMS 728283). It said the company's website made false or misleading claims about compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide — the drugs behind weight-loss shots. The FDA flagged two things: language comparing the compounded versions to brand drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, and product images labeled "Joi + Blokes" that suggested Blokes made the drugs, which it doesn't. 10
The letter does not identify testosterone as the subject of the violations. It isn't a TRT recall or ban. We bring it up because it shows why you should ask exactly who makes and dispenses your medicine — at either company. We did not establish a final resolution of the letter. 10
Taurus's record
The concerns documented here are the gaps and conflicts in Taurus's own pages. This comparison is not a complete enforcement-history or licensing audit, and it does not give Taurus a clean bill of regulatory compliance. 1 2 3 4
Who's behind each company
- Taurus Meds: Its Terms identify Taurus Medical, Inc., a Delaware company, and name OpenLoop Health, Inc. as its partner management company. The Terms include an arbitration clause with stated exceptions. 3
- Blokes: Part of Joi + Blokes, co-founded by Josh and Katy Whalen. Joi is the women's brand; Blokes is the men's. The FDA letter lists a Denver address; its Terms list an Omaha address for legal notices. The Terms include an arbitration clause with stated exceptions. 8 9 10
Who holds your medical records
Both companies say they aren't the medical provider themselves. Taurus's Terms say its services aren't tailored to comply with HIPAA, the federal health-privacy law, while its privacy policy describes intended HIPAA compliance and access rights. Blokes' Terms say the privacy rules that apply to your providers may not apply to Joi and Blokes. These statements do not establish which entity holds your chart or whether every website interaction is HIPAA-covered. 3 8 21
There are published access steps:
- Taurus: Its privacy policy describes requesting access to medical and billing records from the Privacy Officer. Ask which treating practice holds your chart. OpenLoop's consent page directs questions about a practice's privacy notice to its contact or, if unavailable, privacy@openloophealth.com. 21 22
- Blokes: Its help center says its Functional Health Report is emailed after results and is also available in the patient portal. That report is not necessarily your complete chart or raw laboratory report. 24
We did not test either access process or establish a complete chart-transfer workflow. Ask for your lab reports, visit notes, medication list and transfer process before you leave. Our guide to switching TRT providers walks through it.
What customers say (a signal, not proof)
| Trustpilot, checked Sept 28, 2026 | Taurus | Joi + Blokes |
|---|---|---|
| Trustpilot score | 4.3 from 918 reviews | 4.6 from 1,423 reviews (372 in the last 12 months) |
| 1-star share | 12% | 5% |
| Replied to negative reviews | 1% | 87% |
| What the profile covers | TRT plus its ED product and others | Men's (Blokes) and women's (Joi) services combined |
| Examples in the reviews inspected; not measured frequency | Shipping delays, missing or substituted orders, hard-to-reach support | Slow replies, unclear order status, billing mix-ups |
Reviews can't tell you whether care is safe or works. The 87% vs 1% figure measures public replies to negative Trustpilot reviews, not patient-message response times or resolution. It is a customer-experience signal, not grounds to declare either provider's clinical support better. 19 20
"I never felt pressured to buy any of their products." — Jason Knox, Joi + Blokes reviewer, Trustpilot, posted August 26, 2026 20
These profiles mix services; the quotes do not establish a TRT-specific outcome. We did not verify purchases or any reviewer relationship with the companies. More in our Taurus Meds review and Blokes TRT review.
Should you start TRT with either one yet?
A questionnaire alone cannot diagnose low testosterone. The Endocrine Society guideline requires symptoms or signs plus consistently low testosterone, confirmed with repeat morning testing. If that has not happened, or future fertility matters, start with the right clinician before buying treatment from either company. 15 17
What "confirmed low T" actually means
The Endocrine Society's guideline says testosterone therapy is for men with symptoms or signs of testosterone deficiency and clearly, consistently low testosterone — confirmed by repeating an early-morning, fasting blood test. It also calls for accurate testing and, when total testosterone is near the lower limit or SHBG is altered, an appropriate free-testosterone measurement. 15
This comparison uses the adult-male testosterone-deficiency framework. It is not a treatment guide for women, adolescents, gender-affirming care or nonmedical performance use.
No single number is a diagnosis. Not 300, not anything else.
Blokes' FAQ answers a man whose level came back at 350 ng/dL. It says he may still be a candidate and describes a symptom-based approach. That's Blokes' stated philosophy. The guideline asks for both symptoms and confirmed low levels, with free testosterone relevant in some borderline cases. Neither 350 nor symptoms alone settles the diagnosis. So ask either company: which standard do you use, and how do you confirm a low result? 5 15
Our TRT guidelines summary goes deeper.
If you want kids now or in the future
Testosterone from outside your body can lower or stop sperm production. That's because it quiets the signals (LH and FSH) your brain sends to the testes. The effect and recovery vary; this does not predict whether you'll become infertile or when fertility would recover. It means the fertility conversation has to happen before you start. 15 17
We did not establish a fertility-preservation protocol for testosterone patients at either company. Blokes' site lists fertility as "coming soon," but a website label does not establish all care a clinician may offer. The AUA/ASRM infertility guideline says testosterone alone should not be prescribed to men interested in current or future fertility. Talk to a urologist or reproductive urologist first. Start with our TRT and fertility guide and our list of TRT providers for fertility-minded men. 9 17
When online care is the wrong first step
Get an individual clinical assessment before choosing a price-led treatment plan if you have:
- very low or unusual lab results
- a history of prostate or breast cancer
- a high hematocrit
- untreated severe sleep apnea
- a recent heart attack or stroke
- severe headaches or new vision changes (get prompt medical care)
These may need in-person care or assessment from urology or endocrinology. They are not a blanket statement that treatment can never be appropriate. Our guides to online vs local TRT and urologist vs endocrinologist can help you pick. 15
Ask how your clinician will monitor blood pressure and hematocrit, as well as testosterone levels and symptoms. The FDA's February 2025 action added or strengthened blood-pressure warnings for testosterone products. Its June 2026 request for other label changes does not remove the need for an individual risk assessment or make compounded products approved. 15 28 29

Educational and non-diagnostic. It helps you sort the next step and the questions to ask. It doesn't confirm low testosterone or guarantee a prescription.
Could the rules change after you prepay?
Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance that requires a valid prescription. The current temporary federal telemedicine extension runs through December 31, 2026, subject to its conditions and applicable state law. For treatment beginning October 1, nine months of a prepaid annual plan fall after that date; that is a contract question, not a prediction that care will stop. 12 13 27
Schedule III is a federal controlled-drug classification; testosterone requires a valid prescription. Under the DEA/HHS temporary rule, DEA-registered practitioners may prescribe Schedule II–V medicines through qualifying audio-video visits without a prior in-person examination, when all applicable conditions are met. The extension lasts through December 31, 2026. State rules and the clinician's judgment still apply. 12 13 26 27
The verified extension does not tell you what your provider's arrangements will be in 2027. We are not treating a proposed rule, review timetable or possible future extension as settled law. 12 13
We're not predicting your care will stop. We're pointing out a date that a prepaid plan crosses.
Prepaid dollars that fall after December 31, 2026
| Plan with treatment beginning October 1, 2026 | Treatment price prepaid | Months after Dec 31, 2026 | Share of prepaid treatment price allocated to those months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blokes 12-month | $1,188 | 9 of 12 | $891 |
| Blokes 6-month | $774 | 3 of 6 | $387 |
| Blokes 3-month | $447 | 0 of 3 | $0 |
| Taurus | Depends on the selected commitment and billing schedule | Depends on the treatment term | Not calculated: current payment terms are unresolved |
Our arithmetic allocates each Blokes plan evenly across its treatment months. The $891 and $387 amounts are not predicted losses, refund entitlements or separate charges. Labs are excluded. The public documents reviewed do not settle what happens to a patient's prepaid months if new in-person requirements affect care. 5 7 8 12
If you're leaning Blokes' annual plan, ask one question in writing first: "If federal or state rules require an in-person visit after December 31, 2026, what happens to my prepaid months?" Read the DEA's current extension and compare online vs local care.
Do Taurus Meds or Blokes take insurance, HSA or FSA?
The compared offers are cash-pay, and Blokes says it isn't a Medicare or Medicaid provider. Blokes advertises HSA/FSA payment through Flex and help with a letter of medical necessity on request. If you have strong coverage, an in-network clinician prescribing an FDA-approved product may cost you less than either; confirm coverage and your share of the bill. 1 5 8
- Taurus: Its FAQ says its treatments and testing usually aren't covered by insurance, so it charges a cash price. The pages we checked don't address HSA or FSA. 1
- Blokes: Doesn't bill insurance for TRT. Pay with HSA/FSA by choosing "Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA" at checkout. Your plan administrator decides whether it counts. 5 8
A card going through isn't proof your plan approves the expense. If insurance matters most, see TRT providers that take insurance and TRT providers that accept HSA or FSA. Use our TRT cost guide to compare a clinic fee, pharmacy bill and testing costs on the same basis. 8
Taurus Meds or Blokes: which should you choose?
Blokes has the stronger annual price case for someone who fits its state and clinical requirements and accepts prepayment. Taurus offers a smaller testing entry and lists gel, but its live offer does not establish a flexible $149 treatment plan or your state access. Choose an evaluation or fertility-focused care route before either treatment plan when those questions are unresolved. 1 3 5 6 7 15 17
| If you're… | Best next step from this evidence | Why |
|---|---|---|
| New to TRT and unsure how you'll respond | Evaluation first; compare written commitments | Taurus's $49 entry is lower, but a $198 treatment trial with no further obligation is not verified |
| On clinician-managed TRT, considering a switch, and willing to prepay a year in a Blokes state | Compare Blokes' annual offer | $1,337 modeled annual subtotal; confirm transfer, prescription, extra costs and refund terms |
| In DE, GA, MO, NC, ND, OK, PA or SC | Ask Taurus; compare Male Excel or local care | Blokes excludes these states; Taurus coverage is unresolved, while Male Excel's published list does not exclude them |
| In AL, AR, CT, HI, LA, MN, MS or RI | A local clinician or another state-authorized provider | Blokes and Male Excel exclude your state; Taurus coverage must be confirmed |
| Wanting a gel instead of shots | Compare Taurus's gel offer | It lists gel; ask for the exact product, approval status and price. Blokes does not identify its non-injection products. |
| Wanting a detailed, named lab panel plus coaching | Blokes has clearer published inclusions | 56 named markers, scheduled follow-up labs, a 1:1 coach; more markers alone do not prove better care |
| Putting support responsiveness first | Ask both about clinical response times | Public review replies do not measure patient support, and we did not test either service |
| Without confirmed low T, with unresolved fertility plans, or needing insurance billing | Neither treatment offer yet | Get the right evaluation, specialist discussion or in-network care path first |

What should you ask before you pay either one?
The fastest way to avoid a surprise bill is to ask a few specific questions in writing before checkout. Copy the message for the company you pick and save the reply. A clear written answer is worth more than any sales page — ours included.

Hi — before I start the TRT program, could you answer these in writing?
- What is my treatment rate, minimum commitment and billing block? Does the six-month $149 offer or a separate month-to-month offer apply?
- Does the $17.99 membership fee in Section 28 of your Terms apply to my order?
- Is my first treatment charge taken when I finish the intake, after my labs, or after the clinician visit? What is the amount?
- Which eight markers does the blood test include? Is a second morning testosterone test included if needed? When are follow-up labs, and what do they cost?
- Can your clinician treat me in the state where I will be during the visit, and can your pharmacy deliver there?
- Which pharmacy would fill my testosterone, and is the product compounded or FDA-approved?
- What exactly would the 90-day guarantee refund? If a clinician disqualifies me, which lab, consultation, medication and subscription payments are refunded?
- How do I get a copy of my lab results and records if I leave?
- What are the shipping, tax, supplies and extra-test charges, if any? When do refills ship, and can a required lab delay them?
- What is the renewal date, amount and term, and my last cancellation date? What happens to prepaid fees if care needs an in-person visit? Thank you.

Hi — before I buy a TRT plan, could you answer these in writing?
- Do you prescribe TRT where I live?
- What is my full starting cost, including any collection fees and shipping? Can you use my recent outside labs?
- Does the starting panel include LH or FSH, and will I need a second morning test? What would it cost?
- Which pharmacy would fill my testosterone, and is the product compounded or FDA-approved?
- When my plan ends, does it renew, and at what price and term?
- What is the last date I can cancel before the next charge?
- If a clinician decides TRT isn't right for me, which payments come back?
- What happens to prepaid months if an in-person visit becomes required after December 31, 2026?
- How do I get my lab results and records if I leave?
- What is the refill schedule, what supply is shipped each time, and what happens if required follow-up labs delay a refill? Thank you.

What did we actually verify?
We read both companies' pricing pages, terms, refund policies and lab pages, the FDA warning letter, the federal telemedicine rule and both Trustpilot profiles on September 28, 2026, then did the math ourselves. We didn't buy a plan, receive care, contact support or test cancellation.
What we actually verified — checked on September 28, 2026: Taurus's $49 offer, blood-test page, homepage, Terms, refund and privacy policies, enclomiphene page and dated May company release; Blokes' TRT and lab pages, refund policy, Terms, homepage, enclomiphene page and help articles; OpenLoop's telehealth consent; the FDA warning letter and safety sources; the DEA/HHS extension; HHS licensing guidance; Male Excel's state list; both Trustpilot profiles. The source register below identifies the documents.
Confirmed as published, not independently confirmed service delivery: advertised prices, the $17.99 fee clause, cancellation and refund wording, Blokes' 16-state exclusion list, both pharmacy lists, Blokes' 56-marker panel, Taurus's eight-marker claim and 15-minute consult, and both companies' product-status statements.
Stated by the companies, not tested by us: what plans include, consult lengths, coaching, lab turnaround, records access, cancellation steps, the Taurus 90-day guarantee, and refunds after a medical "no."
Customer-experience signals: Trustpilot figures and four attributed reviewer reports, including two short quotes. They describe experiences, not typical results or medical quality.
Our calculations and judgment: the annual subtotals, conditional month-by-month model, calendar allocation and buyer-fit table. They use the published inputs and stated assumptions; they are not complete patient quotes or medical rankings.
What we couldn't confirm for a current personal order: Taurus's exact commitment and billing schedule, fee exception, full marker list, TRT retest costs and complete state coverage; either program's exact prescribed product, assigned clinician and pharmacy, refill calendar, renewal charges, all extra costs, refund outcome or full chart-transfer workflow. We did not audit assigned clinician or pharmacy licenses, run the decision tool end to end, or verify a tracked provider enrollment destination.
Our method is explained in How We Review TRT Providers. We separate verified facts, company statements, customer experiences and our own conclusions. We build itemized cost models and show where a full quote remains incomplete. We don't give providers scores. See also our editorial standards, corrections process and privacy policy.
What else should you know before choosing?
These frequently asked questions separate published prices from the terms that still need a personal answer. Use the detailed tables above when a lower monthly rate appears to promise a cheaper or easier exit.
Is Blokes cheaper than Taurus Meds?
On the annual base model, yes: $1,337 on Blokes' prepaid annual plan versus $1,837 at Taurus's advertised rate, before extras. The month-nine crossover is conditional arithmetic, not a verified Taurus early-exit right. 1 3 5 6
Do I pay $1,188 at once for Blokes' $99 plan?
Yes. The $99-a-month rate is the 12-month plan, and Blokes charges the full $1,188 at checkout. 5
Does Taurus Meds have a contract?
Its live $49 offer page does not state a minimum term. The May 2026 company release links $149 to six months and lists $199 month-to-month. The cancellation policy does not erase a longer paid term; confirm your current offer in writing. 1 3 4 14
Does Taurus charge a membership fee?
Its offer page says no. Section 28 of its Terms lists $17.99 per billing period unless otherwise stated at purchase. Ask Taurus which applies to your order. 1 3
Can I get a refund from Blokes?
Its refund policy says prepaid TRT plans and labs are final. Its lab page says you'll be refunded if a prescription isn't appropriate. Get the rule for your order in writing. 6 7
Does Taurus refund you if you're not approved?
The policy promises a refund for medical disqualification, but later language limits which subscription charges qualify. Its Terms say bloodwork is nonrefundable. Ask which exact payments would come back before assuming a full refund. 3 4
What states can't use Blokes for TRT?
Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and South Carolina. 5
What states does Taurus Meds serve?
We did not find a complete TRT state list in the pages reviewed. Ask Taurus to confirm prescribing and delivery for your location before paying; we did not test its intake screening. 1 3 16
Is Taurus or Blokes testosterone FDA-approved?
The public pages do not identify your exact prescription. Blokes says its products may be compounded; Taurus makes a broad homepage approval claim but describes compounded hormones on its TRT offer. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved. Ask for the exact product before you pay. 1 2 5 11
Which one has better lab testing?
Blokes publishes more detail: 56 named markers and follow-up labs about six weeks in, then about every three months, with possible wider spacing once stable. Taurus advertises eight markers without naming the full panel. The reviewed lists do not establish LH, FSH or a second diagnostic morning test as included at either; more markers alone do not prove better care. 5 6 15 16
Do Taurus Meds or Blokes take insurance?
These compared offers are cash-pay, not verified insurance-billed care paths. Blokes advertises HSA and FSA payment through Flex; the Taurus pages we checked do not settle HSA/FSA payment. Confirm eligibility with your account administrator. 1 5 8
Did the FDA warn Blokes?
Yes. On June 8, 2026, the FDA sent Joi + Blokes a warning letter about marketing claims for compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide. It does not identify testosterone as the subject of those violations. 10
Which is better if I want kids?
The public information reviewed does not establish a fertility-preservation protocol for testosterone patients at either. Testosterone can suppress sperm production. When current or future fertility matters, a urologist or reproductive urologist should help decide the care path before a TRT purchase. 15 17
Can I switch from one to the other?
You can ask the receiving clinician to assess a transfer, but acceptance, the prescription and lab requirements are not guaranteed. Watch Blokes' nonrefundable prepaid term and Taurus's 72-hour notice rule and paid commitment. See how to switch TRT providers. 3 4 6 7 8
Which has better reviews?
Blokes scores 4.6 on a profile shared with its women's brand; Taurus scores 4.3 on a profile that mixes TRT with its ED product. Reviews aren't proof of medical quality. 19 20
Is this a hands-on review?
No. It's a public-source comparison with our own cost math and clearly listed limits. We didn't buy treatment or receive care.
