Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health: Daily Shots at Home or Weekly Shots at a Clinic?

Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health comes down first to how you want care delivered. Male Excel is mainly online and its published starting injection prices model to about $2,727 for year one, plus shipping. Ageless gives testosterone cypionate injections at local clinics every 7 days and says it accepts most PPO plans, but posts no national cash price.

Our short answer:

  • Paying cash and tired of weekly clinic trips? Male Excel is the better fit.
  • Have a PPO that Ageless confirms it accepts, want staff to give your shot, or need a clinic that publicly lists hCG as part of its program? Ageless may be the better fit.
  • Trying to have kids soon? Neither should be your first stop. See a urologist or reproductive urologist first.

For cash-pay comparison, Male Excel gives us a usable benchmark: about $2,727 for the first year of its starting injection plan, plus shipping. Ageless requires a local quote or benefits check, so the honest money test is to compare your actual annual Ageless out-of-pocket estimate with that number.

You live in AL, AK, AR, CT, HI, ID, LA, MN, MS, NH or RI. You want an FDA-approved testosterone product. You won't give yourself a shot or use a cream. You can't make regular weekday clinic visits. You want a national cash price posted online before you contact a clinic. You live outside its 21 states.

TRT Provider Guide is the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy — helping U.S. adults understand how low testosterone is evaluated, compare online and local care models and providers, and choose the next step that fits their health needs, fertility plans, budget, state, and care preferences, with every material claim verified and dated.

What we actually verified

Checked October 11, 2026:

  • Male Excel: pricing page, TRT online page, FAQ (state list), at-home test page, injection page, "Already Taking Testosterone?" page, Terms and Conditions (dated July 2026) and the Excel Advantage Guarantee terms.
  • Ageless Men's Health: Low T FAQ, treatments page, "Already on Testosterone?" page and partner pharmacy page. We also counted its clinic locator by hand: 84 clinics in 21 states.
  • Medical and legal sources: the American Urological Association (AUA) testosterone guideline, the Endocrine Society's July 2026 statement, the AUA/ASRM male infertility guideline, and the federal telemedicine rules.

What the companies say, but we didn't test: how fast clinicians reply, "unlimited e-visits," shipping speed, how refunds work in real life, and exactly what Ageless's self-pay rate covers at your clinic.

What we couldn't confirm:

  • Ageless: its cash price, its cancellation terms and whether it takes Medicare.
  • Male Excel: its shipping fee and the names of the pharmacies it uses.
  • Both: the exact finished testosterone product and pharmacy a future patient will receive until the clinician and dispensing process are known.

We didn't sign up as patients at either company. Our method is explained in How We Review TRT Providers.

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.

What's the real difference between Male Excel and Ageless Men's Health?

Answer: Ageless Men's Health runs 84 in-person clinics in 21 states. Staff there give you a testosterone shot into the muscle every 7 days. Male Excel is an online program. It mails compounded testosterone to your home, either for a small daily shot under the skin or as a cream.

Almost every other difference comes from that one split. Clinic versus mailbox.

Ageless Men's Health in plain words

Ageless has been around since 2007. You walk into a clinic, fill out forms and see a clinician.

What happens at the first visit, according to Ageless's FAQ:

  • A review of your health history and a short physical exam.
  • A blood draw for total testosterone and PSA.
  • Total testosterone is the total amount of testosterone measured in your blood. PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is a blood marker used in prostate evaluation and monitoring; it is not a stand-alone cancer test.
  • Results come during the visit or within about 24 hours.

If you're treated, you get testosterone cypionate shots into the buttock muscle, on alternating sides, every 7 days. Clinics are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

Its treatment page adds two more medicines:

  • An estrogen medicine. Ageless says it provides "another medicine" with the testosterone shot to manage estrogen. The public page does not name the drug, and we do not assume every patient receives the same medicine.
  • hCG. Ageless says it uses human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), an LH-like hormone, in its low-T program and claims it protects natural production and testicular size. That is the provider's claim, not a promise that hCG will preserve fertility for a given patient.

Ageless offers telemedicine in the states where it operates, except New Jersey and Mississippi.

Male Excel in plain words

How you start:

  1. Pay $99. That covers an online consult with a licensed provider, a finger-prick blood kit you do at home, and a treatment plan.
  2. Do the kit. It checks testosterone, estradiol (a form of estrogen), DHEA-S, Free T3 (a thyroid hormone) and PSA.
  3. Mail it back. Results come about five business days after the lab gets it.

If you're treated:

  • You pay a $99 monthly membership. It includes unlimited online visits and messaging with a dedicated provider.
  • Male Excel ships either testosterone cypionate for a small daily shot just under the skin, or a testosterone cream used twice a day.
  • Male Excel's published starting injection and cream packages include desiccated thyroid medication. Its own prescribing information says thyroid hormone is for hypothyroidism and carries a boxed warning against use for obesity or weight loss, so the reason for prescribing it should be clear from your clinical evaluation.

Male Excel says it does structured check-ins every 60 days and comprehensive blood testing every six months.

Don't mix these up

Three names come up in the same searches. They're different companies.

  • AgelessRx is a separate online company. It isn't Ageless Men's Health.
  • Ageless Male is a store-bought supplement. It isn't prescription testosterone.
  • ExcelMale is an online forum. Male Excel's own website says it isn't connected with it.

How much does Male Excel cost vs Ageless Men's Health?

Answer: Male Excel posts its prices. That works out to about $2,727 for the first year of injections at its starting dose, plus shipping. Ageless doesn't post one national cash price. To know which costs less, compare your actual estimated annual Ageless out-of-pocket total — after benefits, deductible, clinic charges and any separately billed medicines or labs — with Male Excel's published starting annual cost.

Male Excel's full first-year cost

Male Excel bills in two layers, and people miss this all the time:

  • The membership bills every month.
  • The medicine bills every other month, in 60-day supplies.

So your charges go back and forth between "membership only" months and "membership plus medicine" months. Here's the full year at Male Excel's published starting prices.

Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health table 3: Male Excel's full first-year cost
Injection plan Cream plan
Start fee (consult + home blood kit) $99 $99
Membership (12 × $99) $1,188 $1,188
Medicine (12 months at starting price) $1,440 ($120/mo) $1,584 ($132/mo)
Year one $2,727 $2,871
Per month, year one $227.25 $239.25
Per week, year one $52.44 $55.21
Year two and after (no start fee) $2,628 $2,772

Our math, using Male Excel's published prices as of October 11, 2026. Shipping isn't included because the page says shipping and handling are extra without posting one fixed amount. Male Excel's starting price assumes what it calls a typical starting dose.

Two things can push that number up:

  • Your dose. Male Excel says, plainly, that any change in your dosage changes your cost.
  • Your refill timing. A bigger dose also means your 60-day supply may run out sooner.

What Ageless costs, and why you can't see it

We checked Ageless's national FAQ, treatment and clinic pages for a published self-pay dollar amount and did not find one.

What Ageless does say:

  • With insurance, the cost "is usually" your copay plus any unmet deductible.
  • Without insurance, its self-pay rate includes office visits, exams, lab tests and testosterone treatment.

That's a useful promise. But it isn't a number.

The break-even test

Male Excel's published starting injection model gives you a clean annual benchmark: $2,727 in year one, plus shipping. Ageless does not publish one national cash price, and insurance cost-sharing can vary by clinic, plan, deductible and how services are billed.

So use this test:

  • Ask Ageless for a written estimate of your expected first-year out-of-pocket cost.
  • Include your deductible, copays or coinsurance, labs, testosterone treatment and any other medicine that would be billed separately.
  • Compare that total with Male Excel's $2,727 starting annual model plus shipping.

If your expected Ageless total is lower, Ageless costs less on the numbers you have. If it is higher, Male Excel's starting model costs less. That comparison is an estimate, not a guarantee, because your treatment plan and insurance claims can change.

There's one more cost no price list shows: your time. Ageless schedules injections every 7 days, so regular clinic travel can add up. Ageless says the injection visit itself can take "as little as 5 minutes a week," but the drive doesn't.

Run your own numbers

Use this Clinic vs Mail-Order Cost & Time worksheet with your own numbers.

Write down:

  • Your state
  • Whether you're using insurance or paying cash
  • Your expected copays or coinsurance and what's left on your deductible
  • Your written Ageless estimate or self-pay quote, if you have one
  • Whether you're comparing Male Excel injections or cream
  • Whether hCG is part of your current care
  • Your round-trip drive time to Ageless

Then compare:

  • Your estimated first-year cost for each option
  • The annual Ageless out-of-pocket total at which the two modeled costs break even
  • The hours a year you'd spend driving to the clinic
  • Any issue that changes the choice, such as state availability, insurance, fertility plans or a medicine one provider does not publicly list

If the published Male Excel starting cost fits your budget, see Male Excel's current pricing and plan details → Then come back and check the insurance section before you decide.

Does Male Excel or Ageless Men's Health take insurance?

Answer: Ageless says it accepts most PPO plans and will check your benefits before your first visit. Male Excel takes no insurance. It isn't enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid. It does list its plans as HSA/FSA eligible. If your PPO makes weekly visits cheap, Ageless can win on price.

The one thing Male Excel doesn't do

We'll be straight with you here.

Male Excel does not take insurance. If using your PPO is your top priority, Ageless, or an in-network doctor, is likely the better fit.

But the cash-pay model does make some tradeoffs simple:

  • No insurance network to navigate through Male Excel. Its care is built around telehealth and home delivery rather than in-network office billing.
  • Membership-based access. Male Excel says its $99 monthly membership includes unlimited provider access, 60-day reviews and lab monitoring.
  • Published starting prices. You can see the membership and starting medication prices before you enroll, even though shipping and your final prescribed medication cost can vary.

If saving time matters more to you than using insurance, that trade can make sense.

How weekly visits hit your insurance

Here's the catch with insured clinic care: the way weekly treatment is billed matters. Ageless schedules injections every 7 days, but its public FAQ does not say that every injection produces a separate office-visit copay. Ask your clinic and insurer how those services will actually appear on a claim before you build a yearly estimate.

Ask before your first shot:

  1. Is this clinic in my network, and is the treating clinician in network?
  2. How is each weekly injection billed, and will I owe a copay or coinsurance each time?
  3. Are labs billed separately?
  4. Are the hCG and estrogen medicine covered, or extra?
  5. Does my plan need prior authorization (approval in advance) for testosterone?
  6. If my insurance says no, what's the self-pay rate, in writing?

Medicare

  • Male Excel says no. Its Terms say it isn't enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid.
  • Ageless doesn't say either way on its website. Get the answer in writing before you start.

If you're on Medicare and neither works, an in-network urologist, endocrinologist or primary care doctor is the direct route.

HSA and FSA

Male Excel's pricing page lists its plans as HSA/FSA eligible. Its TRT page says you "may be able to" use HSA, FSA or HRA funds. Your plan administrator makes the final call, so keep your receipts.

Have a PPO? Find your nearest Ageless clinic and ask them to check your benefits → (Not a partner link.) Use the six questions above when you call.

Daily shots at home or weekly shots at a clinic: which is better?

Answer: Neither is proven better for everyone.

  • Ageless gives one shot into the muscle every 7 days. That fits the AUA's dosing table, which lists testosterone cypionate every 7 to 14 days.
  • Male Excel gives a small daily shot under the skin and says it keeps levels steadier.

Your clinician should explain why they chose your schedule.

The two companies disagree with each other in public

This is the part most people never notice. These two programs don't just work differently. They openly argue against each other's methods.

Male Excel has a page aimed at men already on testosterone. It warns readers to "be wary" of clinics that make you come in for a shot every week. It also warns against clinics that block your estrogen. That describes the Ageless model almost word for word, though Male Excel never names Ageless.

Ageless argues the other way. It says a weekly shot "peaks at 3 days and starts to subside by day 7," and that its schedule keeps you in balance.

So who's right? Here's what each side says, and what the AUA testosterone guideline says.

Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health table 4: The two companies disagree with each other in public
Topic Ageless says Male Excel says AUA guideline What it means for you
How often Every 7 days Every day The AUA guideline's product table lists common dosing intervals for commercially manufactured testosterone products, but it is not a rule that every patient must use one schedule. These are different provider protocols. Daily means more needle sticks; Ageless's published weekly model means regular clinic visits.
Where the needle goes Into the muscle Under the skin, using small syringes/needles according to Male Excel The AUA recognizes both intramuscular and subcutaneous testosterone treatment in its discussion of short-acting testosterone, but product-specific instructions still control. Male Excel's published model is self-administered at home; Ageless's is clinic-administered.
Estrogen medicine Says it provides another medicine with the shot to manage estrogen; the public page does not name it Argues against routine estrogen blockers The AUA says aromatase inhibitors may be used in selected men with testosterone deficiency who want to maintain fertility; that does not mean they belong in every TRT plan. On one now? Don't stop it yourself. Ask your new clinician why you take it and whether it is still indicated.
hCG Says it uses hCG in its program Not listed on public testosterone plans The AUA says hCG may be used in selected men with testosterone deficiency who want to maintain fertility; the AUA/ASRM guideline says testosterone monotherapy should not be prescribed to men interested in current or future fertility. If hCG is central to your care, confirm the plan before switching rather than assuming either clinic will preserve it.
Compounded vs factory-made Mixed Compounded Prefers factory-made testosterone over compounded "when possible" (conditional, low certainty) Ask Ageless which product you'd get.
Thyroid Not listed as part of Ageless's core TRT protocol Male Excel's published injection and cream packages include desiccated thyroid medication at the starting price Thyroid hormone is not standard testosterone replacement therapy; Male Excel's own prescribing information says its desiccated thyroid is for hypothyroidism and carries a boxed warning against use for obesity or weight loss Ask why thyroid medicine is being prescribed and what thyroid diagnosis or lab findings support it.

Company positions come from their own pages, checked October 11, 2026. Guideline: AUA, Evaluation and Management of Testosterone Deficiency (2018, reviewed and confirmed in 2024).

Our take: We're not going to pick a medical winner here, because the evidence doesn't let anyone do that honestly. What we can tell you is what each choice feels like.

Daily shots at home (Male Excel):

  • A tiny needle, once a day.
  • You give it yourself, on your own schedule. No drive.
  • Hate needles? Male Excel's cream is the other option.

Weekly shots at a clinic (Ageless):

  • One shot a week, and someone else gives it.
  • You see a person every week.
  • You have to get there on a weekday before 6pm.

We won't give dosing or injection instructions. Your clinician sets those.

Comfortable with a tiny daily shot, or would rather use a cream? See Male Excel's injection details → or its cream option →

Can you keep hCG and your estrogen medicine if you switch to Male Excel?

Answer: Don't assume either medicine will carry over unchanged. Male Excel does not list hCG on its public testosterone plans and argues against routine estrogen blockers; Ageless says it uses hCG and another medicine to manage estrogen. If you take either one now, don't stop it on your own. Ask the new clinician what is still indicated. If hCG is tied to fertility goals, start with a urologist or reproductive urologist.

Here's what changes if you move from Ageless to Male Excel:

Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health table 5: Can you keep hCG and your estrogen medicine if you switch to Male Excel?
What you're on at Ageless At Male Excel
Testosterone cypionate, weekly, into the muscle Male Excel also publicly lists testosterone cypionate, but its injection is a daily compounded subcutaneous product; the finished products are not interchangeable just because the active drug name overlaps
hCG Not listed on its public testosterone plans
Estrogen medicine Its site discourages routine estrogen blockers
Thyroid medicine not listed in Ageless's core protocol Male Excel's published starting injection and cream packages include desiccated thyroid medication; ask why it is clinically indicated for you

If hCG is really about having kids

This is where we'll slow you down, because it matters more than any price.

Testosterone from outside your body can suppress sperm production. The AUA says exogenous testosterone should not be prescribed to men who are currently trying to conceive. The AUA/ASRM male infertility guideline also says testosterone monotherapy should not be prescribed to men interested in current or future fertility.

What about non-testosterone pills? Male Excel's own pages point to some for men thinking about fertility:

  • Triclozene: clomiphene plus thyroid ingredients. Clomiphene's FDA approval is for women, so using it in men is off-label.
  • Enclomiphene. It isn't an FDA-approved drug.

Neither one is TRT. Neither comes with a promise about fertility.

If current or future fertility matters to you, discuss that before starting exogenous testosterone; a urologist or reproductive urologist is the clearest specialist route when fertility is a central concern.

Need hCG and don't want the clinic? Some options are covered in our Ageless Men's Health alternatives guide.

Is the testosterone FDA-approved or compounded?

Answer: Male Excel's testosterone is compounded. Male Excel's own site says compounded medicines aren't FDA-approved. Ageless says some of its treatments use FDA-approved medicines and others may use compounded ones. Its partner pharmacy page names two compounding pharmacies. Ask Ageless exactly which product you'd get.

What "compounded" means

An FDA-approved drug went through FDA review for safety, how well it works, and how it's made.

A compounded drug is prepared for a patient by a qualified compounder under applicable law. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, so FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed.

Compounded can serve a real medical need, but compounded drugs do not go through FDA premarket review for safety, effectiveness or quality. And the words "testosterone cypionate" alone do not tell you whether the finished product is FDA-approved or compounded.

Who makes it

Ageless names its partner pharmacies:

  • Strive Pharmacy in Gilbert, Arizona
  • Anazao Pharmacy in Tampa, Florida

Male Excel's current Terms say prescriptions are filled by contracted third-party pharmacies. The Terms do not name those pharmacies and also say Male Excel will not send the prescription to a different pharmacy.

That last point matters. With Male Excel, you can't shop your prescription around for a better price.

Why it matters

The AUA prefers factory-made testosterone over compounded testosterone "when possible." It's a soft recommendation, built on low-certainty evidence, but it's there.

If FDA-approved testosterone is a must for you, Male Excel isn't the route. Ask Ageless what it uses, or see an in-network doctor who can prescribe a brand or generic product through your pharmacy.

What labs does each one check before you start?

Answer: Male Excel mails an at-home blood-spot kit that it says measures testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, Free T3 and PSA. Ageless says its first visit includes blood for total testosterone and PSA. AUA guidance requires two separate early-morning total testosterone measurements plus symptoms or signs for diagnosis, and calls for baseline hemoglobin/hematocrit before testosterone therapy. Ask how the provider completes those steps in your case.

Diagnosis takes more than one test

Here's what the guidelines say:

  • Endocrine Society (July 2026 statement): diagnosis should be made by a healthcare provider using at least two early-morning, fasting testosterone tests, with symptoms and clinical context.
  • AUA: below 300 ng/dL is a reasonable cutoff in support of diagnosis, but the clinical diagnosis requires symptoms or signs plus two separate early-morning total testosterone measurements. One number is not enough.

Neither company's public pages describe that full workup.

What each company publicly says it checks

Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health table 6: What each company publicly says it checks
Guideline step (AUA) Male Excel's public pages Ageless's public pages
Two separate early-morning total testosterone tests before diagnosis (strong) Not stated on the public onboarding pages we reviewed; they describe one at-home kit before the consultation FAQ describes one office blood test to reveal levels
LH test if testosterone is low (strong) Not in the kit Not stated
Hemoglobin/hematocrit before starting testosterone (strong) Not in the public five-marker at-home kit list Not stated on the national FAQ page reviewed
PSA in men over 40 ✓ In the kit ✓ At the first visit
Talk about fertility before starting (strong) Safety info says it may lower sperm count FAQ lists lower sperm count as a possible side effect
Check testosterone every 6–12 months on treatment Says full blood testing every 6 months Schedule not published

This shows what each company publicly states, not what happens in the exam room. Checked October 11, 2026 against Male Excel's test page, Ageless's FAQ and the AUA Testosterone Deficiency Guideline.

A few of these tests need a quick explanation:

  • LH (luteinizing hormone) helps show why testosterone is low.
  • Hematocrit is the share of your blood made of red blood cells. Testosterone can push it up, so you need a starting number.
  • Questionnaires and quizzes can't diagnose low testosterone either. The AUA says so.

Before-you-start checklist (bring it to either one)

  • Will you confirm low testosterone with a second early-morning test?
  • If my testosterone is low, will you check LH to help find the cause, and will you check hemoglobin/hematocrit before testosterone therapy?
  • I'd like to talk through my fertility plans first.
  • Here's my list of current medicines.
  • How often will you recheck my testosterone, hematocrit and PSA?
  • Who do I contact if I have a side effect, and how fast will they answer?

Live in Idaho or Mississippi?

Male Excel isn't an option for you.

  • Idaho: Ageless has clinics and telemedicine.
  • Mississippi: it's Ageless in person only, or a local prescriber.

See other routes in our Ageless alternatives guide →

No Ageless clinic near you?

Twenty-nine states have no Ageless clinic. Male Excel serves 20 of them.

Nine states have neither: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. If you live in one of those, start with Find My TRT Path or a local doctor.

Will online TRT need an in-person visit in 2027?

The rule after 2026 was not final as of this audit. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance. DEA and HHS currently allow DEA-registered practitioners to prescribe Schedule II-V controlled medications through qualifying audio-video telemedicine without a prior in-person medical evaluation through December 31, 2026, as long as the prescription otherwise complies with federal and state law.

Male Excel also says that, based on DEA and state laws, a testosterone treatment plan may require an in-person medical exam.

If you are choosing an online provider late in 2026, ask how it will handle your care if federal or state requirements change in 2027.

Can you cancel, and what if it doesn't work?

Answer: Male Excel's pricing page says "No Contract, Cancel Anytime." Its Terms say applicable fees and charges are not refundable. Its separate guarantee says eligible new members who follow the Excel Advantage Protocol for 90 continuous days and do not improve may request a refund of the first three months of membership fees. Ageless doesn't publish a TRT cancellation policy we could verify, so get it in writing.

Male Excel: cancel anytime, but prior charges are generally non-refundable

Two things are true at once:

  • Male Excel's pricing page says you can cancel the subscription at any time.
  • What you've already paid is generally non-refundable. Male Excel's Terms, updated July 2026, say all sales are final and applicable fees and charges are not refundable.

Before cancelling, ask Member Support when the cancellation takes effect relative to your next membership and medication charge, and save the confirmation.

How do you switch from Ageless to Male Excel without changing treatment on your own?

Answer: Do not time shots, stop medicines or change a regimen yourself to avoid a gap. Start by getting your Ageless records and completing Male Excel's evaluation while your current prescriber is still managing your care. The clinicians should decide if and how treatment changes, including what happens to testosterone, hCG or any estrogen-related medicine.

A safer order is:

  1. Ask Ageless for your records, including recent lab results, medication names and the current prescribed regimen.
  2. Complete Male Excel's $99 test and provider consultation while your current clinician is still managing your care.
  3. Share the records at the consultation and disclose every prescription, including hCG or any estrogen-related medicine.
  4. Ask the new clinician for the transition plan and expected pharmacy/shipping timeline if a prescription is appropriate.
  5. Ask Ageless how to end or transfer care only after the new clinician has told you what to do.

Your clinicians decide the medication and timing. TRT Provider Guide does not.

Is Male Excel legit? Is Ageless Men's Health legit?

Answer: Both are active U.S. companies with current treatment websites. Ageless says it has operated since 2007. Its public record includes a 2015 federal settlement and a 2018 New York Attorney General agreement. Male Excel's Terms say Excel Medical is a technology platform and that clinical care is provided through affiliated professional entities independently owned by licensed physicians. Trustpilot showed a 4.5/5 TrustScore from more than 6,600 reviews when checked in October 2026; that is a customer-experience signal, not a measure of clinical quality.

Ageless Men's Health: the record

Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health table 9: Ageless Men's Health: the record
Year What happened
2007 Ageless says it was founded.
2015 Ageless Men's Health LLC agreed to pay $1.6 million to settle claims about billing Medicare and Tricare for office visits along with shots. The Justice Department called these allegations only, with no finding of liability.
2018 Ageless reached an agreement with the New York Attorney General. It agreed to tell patients that guidelines call for two morning blood tests, explain treatment thresholds, and give fertility side effects in writing.
2026 84 clinics in 21 states, with a published partner pharmacy list.

We include this history because it points to good questions to ask today, not as a verdict on any clinic. For the full picture, read our Ageless Men's Health reviews guide.

Male Excel: how it's set up

Male Excel's Terms say Excel Medical is a technology platform, not a healthcare provider.

Your actual care comes from separate medical practices, each owned by a licensed physician. Its at-home lab tests run through an affiliated lab, AEMA Labs.

What patients say

These are individual experiences, not proof of results or a promise of what you'll get.

  • Male Excel: Trustpilot's current summary says customers often praise the medical staff, consultations and convenience, while some report difficulty reaching support, communication delays or shipment problems. Those are individual customer-experience signals, not proof of clinical outcomes.
  • Ageless: ratings vary by location because individual clinics are reviewed separately. If reviews matter to you, check the clinic you would actually visit rather than treating one location's rating as a companywide result.

Who should choose Male Excel, Ageless — or neither?

Answer: Choose Male Excel if you pay cash, want treatment at home and live in one of its 39 states. Choose Ageless if your PPO benefits make clinic care attractive, you want a clinician or staff member to administer the shot, or you need a clinic that publicly lists hCG among its options. Choose neither as the first step if you're trying to conceive or if low testosterone has not been properly confirmed.

Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health table 10: Who should choose Male Excel, Ageless — or neither?
If you… Better fit Why
Pay cash and want to skip weekday clinic trips Male Excel Ships home. Published $2,727 first year. Phone line open 7 days a week. Serves 19 of 21 Ageless states.
Have a PPO and Ageless verifies that your expected annual out-of-pocket cost is favorable Ageless Ageless says it accepts most PPO plans. Male Excel takes no insurance.
Use hCG and want it considered in the next plan Ageless, or a urologist Ageless publicly lists hCG; Male Excel does not list it on its public testosterone plans.
Want someone else to give the shot Ageless Weekly clinic-administered shot vs Male Excel's home injection model; Male Excel's cream is a non-injection alternative, not someone else giving the shot
Want FDA-approved testosterone Ask Ageless, or see an in-network doctor Male Excel is compounded. Ageless is mixed.
Are trying to conceive, or want kids soon Neither. See a urologist or reproductive urologist. Guidelines say no testosterone for men trying to conceive.
Live in Idaho or Mississippi Ageless (Mississippi is in-person only) or a local prescriber Male Excel excludes both.
Live where there's no Ageless clinic Male Excel, if your state is served No clinic to visit
Have Medicare Confirm Ageless directly or use a Medicare-participating local clinician Male Excel says it is not enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid; we could not verify a current national Medicare policy from Ageless's public pages.
Haven't had low testosterone confirmed Primary care, or ask for a second morning test and hematocrit wherever you go Guidelines require it

Our bottom line: for men paying cash who want TRT without a weekly clinic trip, Male Excel is the better fit when its complete quoted cost works for them. Ageless can be the better fit when verified PPO benefits lower the cost, when a clinic-based model is preferred, or when its publicly listed hCG option is relevant to the clinician's plan. Don't let anyone, including us, rush you past the testing and fertility questions.

How we compared Male Excel and Ageless Men's Health

Answer: On October 11, 2026, we read both companies' live pricing, FAQ, treatment, terms, pharmacy and location pages. We counted Ageless's clinics by hand. Then we checked their claims against the AUA testosterone guideline, the Endocrine Society's July 2026 statement and federal telemedicine rules.

Throughout this page, we keep four kinds of information apart:

  1. Facts we checked on a company's own current page or in an official source.
  2. What a company says but we couldn't test, like reply times or shipping speed.
  3. Patient reports, which describe experiences but don't prove policy or results.
  4. Our judgment, like "best for," built only from the first three.

All cost figures are our own math from published prices. We don't give providers scores. Being on this page isn't an endorsement. Read the full method in How We Review TRT Providers.

Male Excel vs Ageless Men's Health: FAQ

Which is cheaper, Male Excel or Ageless Men's Health?

Male Excel costs about $2,727 for the first year of injections at its published starting price, plus shipping. Ageless doesn't publish one national cash price. Ask Ageless for your expected first-year out-of-pocket total, including benefits and any separately billed services, then compare that estimate with Male Excel's published model.

How much is Male Excel per month?

At the published starting injection rate, the recurring monthly-equivalent cost is about $219 before shipping: $99 for membership plus $120/month-equivalent for medication. The cream's starting monthly equivalent is about $231. Medication is supplied and billed in 60-day quantities, so actual charge timing is not a flat $219 every month.

Does Male Excel take insurance?

No. Its Terms say it takes no commercial insurance and isn't enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid. Its pricing page lists plans as HSA/FSA eligible.

Does Ageless Men's Health take insurance?

Ageless says it accepts most PPO plans. Insured patients usually pay their copay plus any unmet deductible. It says it will check your benefits before your first visit.

Do you have to go to Ageless every week?

Ageless's FAQ says testosterone cypionate injections are scheduled every 7 days and given in the clinic. It also says telemedicine is available in states where Ageless operates except New Jersey and Mississippi. Ask your clinic what parts of care can be handled by telemedicine because the published injection model still requires clinic administration.

Does Male Excel give weekly shots like Ageless?

No. Male Excel prescribes small daily shots under the skin, or a twice-daily cream. Ageless gives one shot into the muscle every 7 days.

Does Male Excel offer hCG?

Male Excel does not list hCG on the public testosterone plans or pricing pages we reviewed. If you use hCG now, confirm the next clinician's plan before switching. If hCG is tied to current or future fertility goals, discuss that with a urologist or reproductive urologist.

Is Male Excel's testosterone FDA-approved?

No. It's compounded. Male Excel's own website says compounded medicines aren't FDA-approved or reviewed for safety, effectiveness or quality.

How often does Male Excel check labs?

Male Excel says it does structured check-ins every 60 days and full blood testing every six months. Your first test is a finger-prick kit you do at home.

Is Male Excel available in my state?

Yes, unless you live in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire or Rhode Island. That's from Male Excel's FAQ, checked October 11, 2026.

Can I cancel Male Excel anytime?

Male Excel's pricing page says "Cancel Anytime," while its Terms say applicable fees and charges already paid are not refundable. Ask Member Support when cancellation takes effect relative to the next membership and medication charge, and save the confirmation.

Will I need an in-person visit for online TRT in 2027?

The federal rule after December 31, 2026 was not final as of this audit. Through that date, DEA/HHS temporary flexibilities allow qualifying audio-video telemedicine prescribing of Schedule II-V controlled medications without a prior in-person medical evaluation, subject to federal and state law. Male Excel also says a plan may require an in-person exam.

Is Ageless Men's Health the same as AgelessRx or Ageless Male?

No. AgelessRx is a separate online company. Ageless Male is a store-bought supplement.

Should I start either one if I want kids soon?

Do not start exogenous testosterone without addressing fertility first. It can suppress sperm production, and AUA guidance says exogenous testosterone should not be prescribed to men currently trying to conceive; AUA/ASRM says testosterone monotherapy should not be prescribed to men interested in current or future fertility. A urologist or reproductive urologist is the clearest specialist route.

Find My TRT Path → Get your personalized action plan: the care route that fits your situation, and the questions to ask before you pay. It's an educational tool. It doesn't diagnose low testosterone or guarantee a prescription.

This page is educational information, not medical advice. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance in the United States and requires a valid prescription. Only a licensed clinician who has clinically evaluated you can decide whether testosterone is appropriate. If you have chest pain, trouble breathing, or sudden swelling or pain in one leg, seek emergency care.
