Royal Medical Center Alternatives: The Right Switch for Your Reason

Royal Medical Center alternatives depend on why you're leaving. Compare Male Excel for its stated no-routine-estrogen-blocker approach, or Henry Meds for lower starting fees than Royal's $195 plan. Royal also lists $75 a month. Unconfirmed low testosterone, insurance needs, or near-term fertility plans can make primary care or a specialist the better first step.

One more thing before you switch: for some men, the smartest Royal Medical Center alternative is a different Royal plan. We'll show you when.

Why you're leaving Royal Where to look first The cost or care constraint
An estrogen blocker is built into your plan Royal's testosterone-only option or Male Excel Confirm the actual prescription, not just the bundle name. Male Excel's injection starting subtotal is $2,727 before shipping. 1 4
You want a cream, not shots Male Excel, Hone Health, or Henry Meds All list cream; these compounded options are not FDA-approved products. Costs depend on the program and prescription. 4 5 6
Price Royal's own $75 plan, Henry Meds, or TRT Nation Royal's lowest advertised fee subtotal is $900 for 12 months. A lower complete quote still needs written confirmation. 1

This page is for you if you've ruled out Royal Medical Center, or you're a Royal patient thinking about leaving, and you want to know who fixes your specific problem and what it costs.

It's not for you if you need a diagnosis rather than a provider comparison. Start with a proper evaluation first. It also can't diagnose you or tell you which medicine to take. This page concerns U.S. adult men evaluating or receiving care for testosterone deficiency, not gender-affirming care, treatment in women or adolescents, or performance-enhancing use.

How we make money: TRT Provider Guide has commercial relationships with Male Excel, Hone Health, and Taurus Meds and may earn a commission from eligible referrals. The provider-source links on this page go to public information; our provider guides may contain partner links. We tell you where each option fits and where it doesn't — including when the answer is one that pays us nothing. Read our affiliate disclosure.

TRT Provider Guide is the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy — helping U.S. adults understand how low testosterone is evaluated, compare online and local care models and providers, and choose the next step that fits their health needs, fertility plans, budget, state, and care preferences, with every material claim verified and dated.

What we actually verified (September 23, 2026)

What we checked: Royal's current program, medication, FAQ, and privacy pages; its named physician's Florida record, Oregon order, and California surrender; Royal's Trustpilot profile; and pricing, help, and terms pages for Male Excel, Hone Health, Henry Meds, TRT Nation, Taurus Meds, and Defy Medical. We also checked FDA records and labels, Endocrine Society guidance, AUA/ASRM fertility guidance, and federal telehealth and records-access rules. Sources are linked beside the relevant claims below.

Confirmed in public sources: The advertised prices and the arithmetic in our tables; the written pharmacy, packaging, testing, and cancellation statements described below; Kyzatrex's FDA approval; and the dated licensing actions. Confirming what a provider publishes is not independent proof that it delivers that service to every patient.

What providers say but we couldn't test: Male Excel's no-routine-estrogen-blocker approach, included clinician access and testing, advertised shipping times, and refund handling. Prices below remain provider-stated offers, not personal quotes.

What remains unresolved: Royal's current-patient access to a lower plan and post-approval cancellation terms; each reader's assigned prescriber, appointment access, exact product, dispensing pharmacy and state authorization; extra diagnostic testing; Taurus's offer-specific fees and refunds; any corporate relationship between Taurus and Male Excel; and Defy's individual first-year price. Male Excel and Hone publish availability information, but that does not establish your clinical eligibility.

What we didn't do: We did not sign up, pay, or receive care from any provider. We did not test support, checkout, shipping, or cancellation. This is a comparison built from public records, not a hands-on review. Our method: How We Review TRT Providers.

Which Royal Medical Center alternatives fit your reason for leaving?

The right alternative is the one that addresses your reason for leaving without creating a bigger problem. The table below matches eight reasons to the care route worth checking — and shows what that alternative won't fix. These are editorial fit judgments, not a survey of why Royal's patients leave.

Most "alternatives" lists stop at naming other clinics. That's the easy part. The hard part is knowing whether a new clinic solves your problem or just hands you a different one. So we checked each provider's pricing and terms, not just the headline offer.

# Why you might leave or rule out Royal What we checked Alternative to investigate The possible fix What it does NOT fix
1 An estrogen blocker comes built into your plan Two Royal tiers include a blocker; one customer reported a prescribing disagreement. 1 11 Royal's $75 option or Male Excel Royal lists a testosterone-only tier. Male Excel states it avoids routine anastrozole. 2 Male Excel's injection starting subtotal is $387 above Royal's $195-plan subtotal, before exclusions. Its priced bundle also lists thyroid medicine. 4
2 You want a cream Royal's compared TRT plans list injections. 1 Male Excel, Hone Health, or Henry Meds All list compounded testosterone cream. 4 5 6 A cream needs product-specific precautions to prevent exposing other people. It is not an FDA-approved gel. 12 13
3 Price Compare your actual Royal agreement with its lower tiers. Royal's own $75 plan, Henry Meds, or TRT Nation Henry advertises a $129 starting program; TRT Nation lists $99.99 treatment plus separate labs. 3 14 Neither advertisement proves your complete cost or beats Royal's $75 advertised fee.
4 Concern about the prescribing doctor Florida, Oregon, and California records below. 15 16 17 A service that identifies your authorized prescriber Check the specific clinician before paying, including at a local practice. A medical director's name does not identify your prescriber. Switching brands alone does not answer this.
5 You want an FDA-approved product or insurance Royal does not identify each patient's finished product. 1 Your doctor or a urologist; Henry's Kyzatrex for a cash-pay comparison Henry lists an FDA-approved oral product at $179/month. 3 7 A listed product is not an insurance-coverage or prescribing guarantee.
6 You want children soon Specialist guidance advises against starting testosterone when near-term fertility is planned. 8 A reproductive urologist A fertility-focused review of your current medicines and goals. No subscription or add-on bundle guarantees preserved fertility.
7 State access or unclear cancellation terms Royal's reviewed pages do not establish a complete clinician-by-state map or post-approval exit policy. A provider that confirms both in writing Male Excel and Hone publish availability information; compare their actual cancellation terms too. 18 19 20 Being able to cancel isn't the same as getting a refund.
8 Large charges rather than smaller monthly payments Customer reports describe two-month Royal billing; its FAQ describes a two-month supply. Neither establishes your contract. 11 21 A written billing schedule from each candidate Compare dates and amounts, not just a monthly equivalent. Male Excel also bills medicine in 60-day blocks. 4

Got more than one reason? That's normal. Here's the fastest way to sort them:

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.

The tool is educational and non-diagnostic. It does not interpret your lab results, establish medical eligibility, or guarantee a prescription.

Should you leave Royal Medical Center at all?

Maybe not. Royal's $75-a-month testosterone-only plan works out to a $900 annual program-fee subtotal. If your only problem is the estrogen blocker or the price of the $195 plan, asking Royal about its $75 plan may fix it without starting over — if your clinician agrees and Royal confirms that offer applies to you. 1

We know. An "alternatives" page telling you to stay is a little odd. But switching can mean a new intake, a new consult, and more testing. If you're stable and happy, that's real friction to weigh against the gain.

Here's what Royal's current Program Options page listed when checked September 23, 2026:

Royal plan Monthly advertised fee What Royal says it includes 12 unchanged fees
Testosterone only $75 Testosterone injections, labs, physicals, provider visits $900
Testosterone + estrogen blocker $89 The above, plus an estrogen blocker $1,068
All-inclusive $195 The above, plus gonadorelin or enclomiphene $2,340

Source: Royal's program-options page. These are program-fee calculations, not complete personal quotes. The site does not settle which renewal terms apply to an existing patient's agreement.

Three things to ask Royal before you decide:

  1. "Can I move to the $75 testosterone-only plan, and does that price hold after the first month?" Royal's separate $75 page has conflicting title and blocker wording, so the plan name alone is not enough. 22
  2. "How often will my card be charged, and how much each time?"
  3. "What clinical reason would make you recommend an estrogen blocker, and can we discuss a plan without it?"

If Royal confirms the price and billing terms, and your clinician agrees that the plan fits your care, staying may be your best move.

When another care route makes sense: you want a treatment format Royal does not confirm it offers, an insurance-covered or specifically FDA-approved product it cannot supply, fertility-focused care, or a prescriber whose state authorization you can verify. Those aren't fixed by changing the price tier.

If the $75 plan fits what you're after, confirm it in writing before you switch anything. See Royal's current program options or call 1-800-625-3837. (We earn nothing from this link.)

What does each Royal Medical Center alternative cost over 12 months?

Royal's advertised program fees total $900 to $2,340 over 12 months. Male Excel's starting-rate arithmetic reaches $2,727 for injections or $2,871 for cream before shipping; Hone adds medication to its membership and testing charges. These are starting subtotals, not complete first-year quotes. 1 4 5

A monthly price is an ad. A year-one number is a budget only when every required charge is counted. Here's what the public prices let us calculate — and what they leave out.

Option How the public price works 12-month starting subtotal What the provider says is included What's extra or unclear
Royal — testosterone only $75/month $900 Injections, labs, physicals, visits Current-patient eligibility, renewals, exact product and required repeat testing. 1 22
Royal — with estrogen blocker $89/month $1,068 Above + estrogen blocker Same quote questions; confirm the actual medicine. 1
Royal — all-inclusive $195/month $2,340 Above + gonadorelin or enclomiphene; supplies and shipping advertised Actual billing interval, optional extras, and your agreement. 1 21
TRT Nation $99.99/month treatment equivalent; 2.5-month minimum purchase $1,199.88 before labs; $1,586.88 with three $129 panels Treatment and provider access Required diagnostic repeats, actual invoices, outside-lab charges and California pricing. Three panels are a scenario, not a personal testing order. 14 23
Henry Meds — $129 starting program Advertised from $129/month $1,548 Visits, labs, medicine, supplies, shipping Exact prescription and terms. Its programs page lists commercial or compounded injections and compounded cream; do not assume which product you receive. 3 6
Henry Meds — Kyzatrex, FDA-approved oral testosterone $179/month $2,148 Advertised bundle of care, labs, medicine and shipping Not available in California, per Henry; confirm quantity and commitment. 3 6
Taurus Meds Offer: $49 lab/consultation + $149/month $1,837, offer-only arithmetic Offer says all-inclusive with no membership fee Terms describe a possible $17.99 recurring fee; cancellation and refund conflicts remain. This is not a confirmed full quote. 24 25 26
Hone Health — Plus $135/month + $45 first test + at-lab confirmation listed at $45 or $50 $1,710–$1,715 before medication Membership, listed follow-up labs and consultations Medication and any changed testing needs. At-home confirmation costs $80 instead: subtotal $1,745 before medication. 5 27
Hone Health — Premium $155/month + $65 initial panel + $25 confirmation when TRT is considered $1,950 before medication Broader testing and consultations Medication; confirm the testing pathway for a transfer patient. 28
Male Excel — injection $99 start + $120/month medication equivalent + $99/month membership $2,727 before shipping Test kit/consultation, stated ongoing access and medicine bundle Medication starts at the listed rate; shipping, repeat-test coverage and individual prescription costs need confirmation. 4 29
Male Excel — compounded cream $99 start + $132/month medication equivalent + $99/month membership $2,871 before shipping Same stated membership; different treatment format Same exclusions; not an FDA-approved cream. 4 18
Defy Medical Itemized care No fixed individual total verified Help center describes an average under $175/month in the first year An average is not your quote. Ask for each fee. 30
Your doctor + insurance Visits, labs and pharmacy charges under your plan Depends on your plan Depends on clinician, product and benefits Network status, deductible, copays and any prior authorization.

Calculations: 12 unchanged monthly equivalents plus the named startup/testing charges. They exclude unconfirmed fees, price changes, taxes and any additional prescribed treatment. A minimum supply purchase can make actual payments within 12 months differ from a 12-month service equivalent. Public sources checked September 23, 2026.

Why TRT Nation's lab count matters: one $129 panel produces a $1,328.88 subtotal; three produce $1,586.88. Its FAQ describes follow-up testing after 10 weeks and six months from the first lab, then annually. That supports showing a three-panel illustration, not saying one panel covers a new patient's first year. Any separate diagnostic repeat, extra monitoring or outside testing changes the bill. 23

Why Hone's starting number changed: $135 × 12 + $45 = $1,665, but that excludes confirmation testing. The two live Plus help pages disagree on the at-lab confirmation charge: $45 versus $50. We have shown both, rather than silently choosing the cheaper one. 5 27

Three traps that make prices look cheaper than they are

1. "Per vial" is not "per month." Hone lists testosterone from $28 per vial. How long a vial lasts depends on your prescription. Ask for a monthly supply price in writing before you add it to your budget. 5

2. Membership and medicine are often two separate bills. Male Excel's headline medicine price doesn't include its required $99 monthly membership. Put them together, or the comparison lies to you. 4

3. "Unknown" is not "$0." If a clinic can't tell you what labs cost, write "unknown" — not zero. A cheaper-looking plan with three unknowns may not be cheaper.

Can you use an HSA or FSA?

Male Excel says you may be able to use HSA or FSA funds. That does not mean every bundled fee qualifies or that the provider bills insurance. For any clinic, ask for itemized receipts that separate medical services from medicine, and check qualified-expense rules with your plan administrator. 18 31

Need to compare other care models? Our TRT cost guide explains the broader bill.

Is Male Excel a fit if the estrogen blocker is why you're leaving?

Male Excel says it doesn't prescribe anastrozole or other estrogen blockers as part of its routine TRT. It offers cream or a daily injection model, but its injection starting subtotal is $2,727 before shipping, and its priced bundle also lists thyroid medication. That makes it a policy and format comparison, not an automatic cheaper or simpler switch. 2 4

One Royal reviewer put the concern plainly:

"insisted I take an AI even though my levels were fine" — Matthew Beachy, 3-star Trustpilot review marked Verified, updated February 16, 2026; experience dated February 4. (One person's experience; we did not verify his labs or the prescribing decision.) 11

"AI" here means aromatase inhibitor — a drug that reduces estrogen production. Anastrozole is one example. Royal's $89 and $195 tiers list an estrogen blocker; the program-options page describes the $75 tier as testosterone-only. Its separate $75 product description is inconsistent, so confirm your actual prescription. 32 1 22

Is an estrogen blocker always wrong? No. The AUA/ASRM fertility guideline discusses aromatase inhibitors for selected infertile men with low testosterone; that is not a recommendation to bundle one into every TRT prescription. Male use of anastrozole is off-label — outside the indications in its FDA-approved label. Whether you need one is a clinical question, not a lab number alone. 33 32

Male Excel describes a routine approach without estrogen blockers. That's Male Excel's stated approach. We couldn't test how it plays out for any one patient. Its explanation does not establish that its dosing model is safer or produces better outcomes. 2

The price tradeoff Male Excel does not win

Male Excel does not beat Royal on the published starting subtotals above. The injection calculation is $387 above Royal's $195-plan subtotal before Male Excel's shipping and any other charges, and it bills its membership and medicine separately. If price is your priority, compare Henry Meds or Royal's own $75 plan first. 4 1

But here's why the trade can still make sense. A reader who objects to a routine estrogen-blocker bundle has a specific reason to ask Male Excel about its stated approach. It also lists a cream, while Royal's compared TRT plans list injections. Neither fact guarantees what a new clinician will prescribe. 2 4 1

What you get

  • To start: a $99 package with an at-home hormone test kit and an online consultation. Treatment only if a provider prescribes it. Ask whether a separate early-morning confirmation test is needed and what it costs. 29 8
  • Membership: $99 a month, required. Male Excel advertises ongoing provider access. Its FAQ says blood testing may occur at six months and one year; that is not a promise that every needed test is included or that this timing fits everyone. 4 18
  • Formats: an advertised daily injection model with medication starting at a $120 monthly equivalent, or compounded testosterone cream starting at $132. The clinician determines the prescription. 4 18
  • Who's in charge: Male Excel lists Lorna A. Brudie, DO, as medical director. Its roster includes physicians and nurse practitioners, not physicians alone. A roster is not verification of your assigned prescriber's license. 34
  • Refills and check-ins: Male Excel says it contacts patients every two months for a medical assessment before a 60-day refill. That is a published process, not a delivery or prescribing guarantee. 18
  • Insurance: Male Excel says it doesn't accept insurance but you may be able to use HSA or FSA funds. Its FAQ also says it does not provide letters of medical necessity. Check your administrator's documentation needs before counting on reimbursement. 18

Check these before you pay

Male Excel isn't a perfect fit for everyone. These are the details a careful buyer should know first:

  • Thyroid medicine comes bundled. Male Excel's pricing includes desiccated thyroid. That's the same extra-drug question we raised about Royal's estrogen blocker. A priced bundle does not prove everyone is prescribed it. Ask: "Is the thyroid medicine optional, what clinical finding supports it, and does the price change without it?" 4
  • You can't choose your pharmacy through this service. Male Excel's terms say it won't send your prescription to a different pharmacy. If you want to use your own pharmacy, look at a clinician who confirms that option; we did not verify that Henry offers it. 35
  • No child-resistant packaging. Male Excel's terms say its pharmacies won't ship in child-resistant packaging. If kids live with you, plan a locked storage spot before your first box arrives. We checked the written terms, not a delivered package. 35
  • The guarantee covers membership, not medicine. The Excel Advantage Guarantee offers a conditional refund of three membership payments after 90 days, with treatment, visit and claim-deadline requirements. Its separate refund policy says prescription sales are final, apart from stated remedies such as fulfillment errors. 36 37
  • Medicine billing covers 60-day blocks. Membership is billed separately each month. If large medicine payments bothered you at Royal, this won't fix that issue. 4
  • Pharmacy disclosure: Male Excel's FAQ names Anazao Health and WellDyneRx-Fl. We did not independently verify either pharmacy's current authorization for your state or which would fill your order. Its general roster does not replace that check. 18
  • Cancellation: its FAQ says no contract is required and the plan can be canceled. Get the effective date, pending-order status and final charges in writing; cancellation does not create a medicine refund. 18 37
  • Ask directly: "Is my testosterone compounded?" and "Who will prescribe for me, and are they authorized to treat me in my state?" Ask for the dispensing pharmacy's full name and location too.

Skip Male Excel if price is your top concern, you want one flat all-in number, or you're trying to have children soon.

Left Royal over the estrogen-blocker bundle? Compare the policy and the whole bill before paying. See Male Excel's medication, membership and startup cost breakdown →

The advertised $99 covers the test kit and consult. A provider decides whether treatment is right for you; the kit alone is not a diagnosis.

Does Hone Health offer a cream or more treatment choices?

Hone Health lists testosterone injections, compounded cream, and compounded troches — lozenges that dissolve in the mouth. Its medication fees are separate from membership, and anastrozole appears as a separately priced option rather than an included charge. That pricing structure does not tell you whether a clinician will recommend it. 5 28

Hone is worth comparing when you want treatment-format choices and a published testing schedule rather than a single medication bundle. Royal's TRT plans compared here list injections. 1

How Hone's plans work

Item Hone Plus Hone Premium
Membership $135/month $155/month
Initial testing $45 $65 at-lab initial panel
Confirmation when TRT is considered $45 at-lab on the plan page; $50 on the testing page; $80 at-home $25
12-month subtotal before medicine $1,710–$1,715 with at-lab confirmation; $1,745 with at-home confirmation $1,950 with the stated initial and confirmation pathway
Medicine Separate; testosterone cypionate estimated from $28 per vial Separate; the same published starting estimate
Compounded cream Estimated $60/month; not FDA-approved Estimated $60/month; not FDA-approved
Estrogen blocker Separately listed, only if prescribed Separately listed, only if prescribed

Sources: Hone Plus plan, Plus testing schedule, and Premium plan. Confirm how a transfer patient's records change the required testing. Estimates can vary with the prescription.

A few things matter more than they look:

  • State availability depends on the plan. Hone's own state table lists different states for Plus and Premium. "Hone is in my state" isn't enough. Check the plan you actually want. For example, its men's table lists New York for Premium but not Plus; Hawaii and South Dakota for Plus but not Premium. 19
  • Canceling takes effect at the end of your billing period. That's cancellation, not a refund. Hone directs membership-cancellation requests to support. Ask separately what happens to pending medicine orders. 20
  • Get a monthly medicine price in writing. A per-vial price isn't a monthly budget.

Hone vs. Male Excel, in one line: compare the same treatment format, not Hone's membership-only figure against Male Excel's medicine-plus-membership figure.

For example, adding Hone's estimated $60/month compounded cream to Plus with at-lab confirmation produces $2,430–$2,435 for 12 months; Premium produces $2,670. Male Excel's starting cream subtotal is $2,871 before shipping. Those are reproducible examples, not guaranteed quotes or proof that one clinical program is better. 5 27 28 4

A quick word on creams

Topical testosterone can expose a partner or child through skin contact. AndroGel's official safety information carries a boxed warning about secondary exposure. Compounded cream is a different preparation, not an FDA-approved gel; ask the prescriber and dispensing pharmacist for precautions for the exact product, including how to protect other people. 12 13

Our TRT treatment-format guide explains the differences without treating the products as interchangeable.

Which alternatives cost less than Royal's $195 plan?

Henry's $129 starting monthly program and TRT Nation's $99.99 treatment equivalent are below Royal's $195 advertised fee, but the included care and final bill differ. Taurus advertises $149 after a $49 start, yet its fee and refund terms need clarification. None of those advertised monthly fees is below Royal's $75 option. 3 14 24 1

Before you switch for price, check Royal's $75 plan (see above). Honestly, that might be your answer.

Henry Meds — lower starting fees, with the product and commitment to check

Henry's TRT page advertises starting at $129 a month, including provider visits, labs, medicine, supplies, and shipping. Its separate programs page lists either commercial or compounded testosterone cypionate for injections, and compounded testosterone cream. Ask which finished product your quote includes rather than calling all $129 treatment FDA-approved or all of it compounded. 3 6

It also offers Kyzatrex, FDA-approved testosterone undecanoate capsules, for $179 a month, excluding California. That is a distinct product comparison, not the same thing as a compounded troche. 6 7

Three things to check:

  • Estrogen blocker: Henry says anastrozole may be prescribed if appropriate at no added cost. Ask the same clinical question you'd ask Royal: "What would make you recommend it for me?" 3
  • Age limits: the TRT page checked lists men aged 35 to 65. Confirm the current requirement before paying; this is Henry's stated service boundary, not a universal rule for diagnosing testosterone deficiency. 3
  • Cancellation and refunds: the same page advertises no long-term contract but says a multi-month enrollee may still owe the remaining balance after canceling. Its refund policy says shipped prescriptions are final sale, subscription fees are generally nonrefundable, and qualifying medical-discontinuation refunds need review. It also describes a $30 consultation fee within bundled billing and possible processing deductions from refunds — not a verified extra $30 monthly charge. Get the terms for your chosen offer. 3 38

Want a lower starting fee with the inclusions spelled out? See Henry's current TRT pricing → (Direct provider information, not an affiliate tracking link.)

TRT Nation — a lower treatment price, with labs and supply blocks to add

TRT Nation lists testosterone therapy at $99.99 a month with a 2.5-month minimum purchase. Labs aren't included. You can ask it to review existing results or buy its listed panel for $129. 14 23

Its outside-lab windows don't match. The homepage says up to six months; the FAQ says typically within 120 days. Ask whether your actual report and collection method are accepted before paying for another draw. We did not confirm a universal ban on at-home tests from the current FAQ. 39 23

One patient review on TRT Nation's own site describes the consultation this way:

"Consults are short — not a hand-holding clinic — but that's why it's cheap." — Alex Starks, review displayed on TRT Nation's website; no review date shown in the text checked. (One person's experience, selected for display by the provider; not independently verified.) 39

That is a reason to ask about clinician access, not proof of how every appointment works. Ask who answers between visits, what a follow-up includes, and how complex concerns are handled. A low price should not depend on doing your own medical management.

Does the price fit after labs and supply blocks are counted? Read TRT Nation's current plan terms → and its lab and follow-up requirements. (Direct provider information, not affiliate tracking links.)

Taurus Meds — get the fee, product and exit terms first

Taurus advertises a $49 lab and consultation, then $149 a month if approved. It says there's no membership fee. That works out to $1,837 in offer-only arithmetic, not a confirmed complete first-year quote. 24

These details need answers before you pay:

  • The fee question. Taurus's terms describe a recurring $17.99 membership fee per billing period unless the purchase states otherwise. Its TRT offer says no membership fee. Ask Taurus in writing which applies to your order. If the fee applied monthly for 12 months, the subtotal would be $2,052.88. That is a conditional calculation; the fee's applicability and billing frequency were not confirmed. 25
  • The program name. Taurus's landing page uses "The Excel Advantage HRT program," a name Male Excel also uses. Shared wording does not establish that the companies have the same owner or provide identical care. Ask for the medical practice, assigned clinician, and dispensing pharmacy before assuming either that they are the same service or that switching changes them. 24 36
  • The product descriptions. The offer repeats injection instructions under non-injection headings, including testosterone gel and enclomiphene. Those descriptions are inconsistent. Do not use that page to identify a medicine's correct treatment format; ask the clinician and pharmacist to confirm the actual prescription. 24
  • The cancellation deadline. The refund policy says to cancel at least 72 hours before billing to avoid another cycle. Its medical-disqualification refund wording varies between a full refund and remaining subscription charges, while the offer describes a separate 90-day result guarantee with deductions. Ask which written terms govern your order; do not treat the offer as risk-free. 26 24

Taurus's general terms name OpenLoop as a medical-services partner and list several pharmacy partners. That does not identify the prescriber or pharmacy for your TRT order. 25

Want Taurus's written terms before you decide? Read Taurus's fee and cancellation breakdown →. Its official refund policy gives the billing-notice deadline.

Defy Medical — ask for an itemized quote

Defy's help center gives an average cost under $175 a month for the first year. That's an average, not your quote. Ask Defy for the price of the first visit, labs, medicine, follow-ups, and shipping, listed separately. 30

Which care route fits FDA-approved testosterone or insurance?

If you want an FDA-approved testosterone product or insurance coverage, start with a clinician and pharmacy that can confirm both. Royal names a compounding pharmacy group but does not identify the product each patient will receive. Henry's $179 Kyzatrex offer is a separate cash-pay option to compare, not an insurance promise. 1 6

This matters more than most pages admit. Here's the difference:

Type What it means Examples and limits
FDA-approved testosterone The FDA reviewed the finished product for safety, effectiveness, and quality. It has approved labeling. Kyzatrex, testosterone undecanoate capsules, was approved July 27, 2022. Approval is not a promise it fits you or is covered. 7 40
Compounded testosterone A pharmacy prepares a medicine under applicable compounding rules; the finished preparation is not FDA-approved. The compounded creams compared here. Do not call them approved generics, equivalent to an approved gel, or safer. 13
Non-testosterone medicines Different drugs that act on hormone signaling; they are not TRT or interchangeable with it. Clomiphene, enclomiphene, gonadorelin and hCG. Their approval status and appropriate uses differ; see the fertility section. 33 41 42

Royal says its compounded drugs are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality. That disclosure is useful, but a valid prescription alone does not establish that every legal requirement for compounding has been met. Ask for the exact product, manufacturer or compounding pharmacy, and the facility dispensing to your state. 1 13

Approved does not mean risk-free. Kyzatrex's FDA-posted July 2025 label includes blood-pressure and increased-red-blood-cell warnings and monitoring requirements. Compare the actual medication and the clinician's monitoring plan, not just the word "oral" or "approved." 40

A complicated history — such as prostate or breast cancer, high hematocrit (the share of blood made up of red blood cells), untreated severe sleep apnea, or a recent heart attack or stroke — needs clinician assessment before a treatment decision. A checkout page is not the place to resolve it. 8

The insurance route, step by step

  1. Get evaluated. Diagnosis needs compatible symptoms or signs plus consistently low testosterone confirmed with appropriate repeat early-morning testing. The Endocrine Society calls for accurate assays and morning fasting tests; its July 2026 statement specifies at least two tests. A number such as 300 ng/dL is not a universal diagnosis, and a kit or quiz cannot make it one. For someone already receiving TRT, the receiving clinician decides how to review the original diagnosis and current treatment. 8 43
  2. Ask your insurer whether your plan covers the product your doctor prescribes and whether it needs prior authorization (pre-approval).
  3. Compare your real cost — copays, deductible, and labs — against the year-one table above.

Our guide to TRT providers that take insurance goes deeper. The TRT blood-test guide explains what to ask about confirmation and monitoring.

What changes if you want children soon?

A fertility-focused clinician is the next step, not a new TRT subscription — not Royal's and not one of our partners'. Testosterone taken from outside the body can lower or stop sperm production. The Endocrine Society recommends against starting testosterone in men planning fertility in the near term; people already taking it need a clinician-led discussion, not a self-directed change. 8 33

Royal's $195 plan adds gonadorelin or enclomiphene. Royal says these help maintain natural function. Those are Royal's words. Adding them doesn't make a TRT plan a fertility plan. 1

A few facts to keep straight:

  • Clomiphene, enclomiphene, gonadorelin, and hCG are not TRT. They work differently. FDA-approved clomiphene products treat ovulatory dysfunction in women; use in men is off-label. 41
  • No FDA-approved enclomiphene product was identified in this review. FDA's May 2026 list places enclomiphene citrate among bulk substances under evaluation for compounding. That is not approval of a finished drug or proof that a particular compounded prescription meets every legal requirement. 44 52
  • FDA-approved hCG products have specific indications. Pregnyl includes selected cases of male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism — low testosterone caused by insufficient hormonal signals. That is not approval of every TRT add-on or a guarantee of preserved fertility. Royal's exact gonadorelin preparation and its approval status were not established from its program description. 42 1
  • Nobody can promise you'll keep or regain fertility on any plan, or on any timeline. AUA/ASRM guidance distinguishes testosterone treatment from selected fertility therapies. 33

If kids are in your next year or two, a reproductive urologist can assess your sperm and hormones and talk through options that fit that goal. Read TRT and fertility before comparing another bundle.

Can an online clinic legally treat you in your state?

Only if the clinician has the required authority to treat you where you are physically located and meets the applicable prescribing rules. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance and requires a valid prescription. The current federal temporary extension permits qualifying telemedicine prescribing by DEA-registered practitioners through December 31, 2026; it does not waive state rules or guarantee care without an examination. 45 46 47

That date matters if you're switching now. Do not assume today's temporary arrangement will continue unchanged in 2027. Ask any online clinic: "What's your plan after December 31, 2026, and would I need an in-person visit?"

Why this came up with Royal

Royal names Dagoberto Rodriguez, MD, on its website. Florida's posted verification and practitioner profile, checked September 23, 2026, list license ME58463 as Clear/Active, with an expiration date of January 31, 2027. An active license can coexist with disciplinary history. 48 49 15

The records need to be read by date:

Record What it establishes What it does not establish
Oregon order, effective October 7, 2021 The board found unlicensed practice involving Oregon patients and a violation of the federal prescription-issuer rule. Rodriguez neither admitted nor denied the findings, withdrew his application, and agreed never to reapply in Oregon. 16 Not proof of the current conduct of every Royal clinician.
Florida profile: 2022 other-state entries The practitioner-reported section lists 12 action entries across nine other states, including a Louisiana voluntary surrender. Repeated states are not separate additional boards. 15 The profile's list of other licenses is not a current authorization check for each state.
California surrender, effective October 9, 2024 California license C161735 was surrendered in a matter based on Oregon discipline. The board's notice reports no admissions. 17 Not a finding that Royal itself closed or that every Royal prescription is unlawful.
Florida status entry, November 24, 2025 The profile records "OBLIGATION(S) SATISFIED." 15 We did not retrieve the underlying Florida order; the status alone is neither a new misconduct finding nor exoneration.

For you, the lesson isn't about one doctor. It applies to every clinic on this page. Our Royal Medical Center cost guide has more on the plan and prescriber questions.

The 60-second license check

  1. Ask the clinic: "Who will prescribe for me?"
  2. Search that name on the relevant state medical board or, for a nurse practitioner, nursing board. Ask about any separate telehealth authorization.
  3. Confirm the person is currently licensed or otherwise legally authorized to treat you in the state where you will be during care, and read listed restrictions. 45

If a clinic can't or won't tell you who prescribes, that's your answer.

Which published state restrictions affect this comparison?

Male Excel lists 11 states where it does not offer care: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. This is its published service list, not an independent audit of each prescriber's license. 18

Hone publishes separate state lists for men's Plus and Premium. New York, Hawaii and South Dakota illustrate why the exact plan matters; check its current state table, not just the brand's name. Henry says Kyzatrex is unavailable in California. TRT Nation warns that California pricing may vary. 19 6 14

A complete patient-specific service map for Royal, Taurus or Defy was not established here. Ask each provider to confirm the treatment, clinician and any in-person requirement for your location before paying. For a route that includes needed examinations, compare online and local TRT care.

Already a Royal patient? How do you coordinate the switch?

Get your records and lab results from Royal first. Tell the new prescriber everything you currently take, and ask how the clinical handoff will work before making changes. Handle cancellation and future charges separately; an intake payment does not guarantee that a new clinician will continue the same treatment.

Switching feels like a hassle. It's less of one when you do it in the right order.

The switching checklist

  1. Request your records in writing. Ask Royal for your lab results, visit notes, and current prescription details. Royal's privacy policy describes an access right. Under HIPAA, covered entities generally must act on an access request within 30 days; one additional 30-day extension is allowed with written notice explaining the delay and completion date. 50 51
  2. Note your supply and billing date. How much medicine do you have left? When is Royal's next charge? Use your actual agreement, not someone else's billing report.
  3. Ask the new clinic about your labs. Will it review your Royal labs? How recent must they be? What tests will it still require, and at what cost?
  4. Tell the new prescriber everything you take. That includes the estrogen blocker or add-on drugs from Royal.
  5. Tell both clinicians about any overlapping prescriptions. Ask who is responsible for the next review and prescription; don't leave either clinician with an incomplete medication list.
  6. Don't stop or change any medicine on your own. Ask how the receiving clinician evaluates men already on TRT. Neither uninterrupted treatment nor a required pause can be assumed from an advertisement.
  7. Cancel Royal in writing when you've decided to end the account. Ask: "What notice is required, what is the effective cancellation date, and will any further charge post?" Save the reply. Account cancellation is separate from a clinical treatment decision.
  8. Keep copies of everything. Emails, receipts, and lab reports.

Royal says that if you're found medically ineligible, your program payment is refunded. Beyond that, we couldn't find post-approval cancellation or refund terms in the public pages reviewed, so get Royal's answer in writing. 1

What does "labs included" leave unanswered?

A treatment-monitoring panel is not a substitute for confirming a new diagnosis. For someone not yet diagnosed, ask whether separate early-morning diagnostic tests are included; for an existing patient, ask the receiving clinician to review the original records and current treatment. 8 43

Provider Published testing information checked Question to close before payment
Royal Plans include labs; its $75 product page describes follow-up testing at 90 days. 1 22 What is in each panel, which diagnostic repeats are included, and what happens after the first follow-up?
Male Excel Startup kit and consult; FAQ says testing may occur at six months and one year. 29 18 What confirms a new diagnosis, what tests cost extra, and who sets your monitoring schedule?
Hone Plus Confirmation is a separate charge; published follow-ups include months 3, 6, 9 and 12, with later testing and clinician adjustments. 27 Which initial/confirmation route applies to your transfer, and which disputed confirmation price applies?
TRT Nation $129 panel; follow-ups described after 10 weeks and six months from the first lab, then annually. 23 Are existing reports accepted, are extra diagnostic repeats needed, and what will every required draw cost?
Henry Advertises included labs but the compared pages do not define every patient-specific repeat. 3 6 Are both needed diagnostic draws and all prescribed monitoring included in your offer?
Taurus / Defy Taurus advertises initial testing; Defy describes itemized care. 24 30 Ask for the actual initial, confirmation and follow-up requirements and charges, not just "labs included."

Also ask who answers medical questions, how long a clinical reply normally takes, how far ahead refills must be requested, and who handles a delay. We did not time support, verify an available appointment, or test a refill at any provider. Our TRT safety and monitoring guide covers the clinical questions to discuss.

Copy-and-paste: records request to Royal

Ask Royal's Privacy Officer how to submit identifying information securely; its privacy policy lists 844-965-0305 for that contact. This template requests records and billing information; it does not itself cancel treatment or the account. 50

Hello,

I'm requesting a copy of my medical records under my HIPAA right of access. Please send my lab results, visit notes, and a list of my current prescriptions (with the medicine, strength, and dispensing pharmacy).

Please tell me how to receive the records securely, whether any permitted fee applies, and how to authorize transfer to another clinician.

Please also tell me my next billing date and whether any charge will post after I cancel.

Name: __________
Date of birth, supplied through your secure channel: __________
Date: __________

Thank you.

Copy-and-paste: quote request to a new clinic

Hello,

Please send an itemized written quote for my first 12 months. List membership, medicine, consultations, first and repeat labs, shipping, supplies, and any other required fees separately. Please include billing dates and any minimum purchase.

Please also tell me: Will your clinician review my existing labs before I pay for new ones? Is the proposed medicine FDA-approved or compounded, and which pharmacy will dispense it? Who will prescribe for me, and are they authorized to treat me where I am located? What are your cancellation and refund terms for this offer?

Who handles medical questions, what response time should I expect, and how early should I request a refill? Which diagnostic and monitoring tests would be additional charges?

I understand this is not a promise of a prescription.

Your stay-or-switch worksheet

Fill in both columns. Anything you can't fill in, write "unknown" — never $0.

Question Staying with Royal New clinic's written quote
My plan and monthly fee __________ __________
Billing dates and amounts __________ __________
Medicine, and FDA-approved or compounded? __________ __________
Which pharmacy dispenses it __________ __________
First and repeat labs included? __________ __________
Extra drugs in the bundle: blocker, thyroid, others __________ __________
Who answers my medical questions __________ __________
Shipping, supplies, or other fees __________ __________
Cancellation notice and final charge __________ __________
Confirmed next-12-month total __________ __________
Required charges still unknown __________ __________

Next-12-month cash outlay = all required invoices due in that period + startup and exit costs not already counted − confirmed credits.

Count prepaid months once. Keep a 12-month treatment-cost estimate separate from the cash that actually leaves your account: a refill paid near month 12 may also cover treatment after that date. Don't add a bundled lab charge again, and don't treat unused prepaid medicine as a refund unless the provider confirms one.

Subtract the new clinic's complete total from Royal's complete total to compare cash outlay. If any required charge remains unknown, the full difference is still unknown. You can copy and complete this worksheet without sending us medical or payment details.

What did we find that doesn't flatter our own partners?

Our commercial relationships do not settle which clinic fits you. Here's what cuts against Male Excel, Hone Health, and Taurus Meds, so you can weigh it yourself. These are the same limitations used in the comparison above.

  • Royal's lower plan and Henry's starting offer undercut Male Excel's published starting subtotal. That remains true of the displayed arithmetic, not a guarantee of every patient's full bill. A Hone comparison must include its medicine. 1 3 4 5
  • A 5-star Royal reviewer, “g j,” reported that an earlier try with Male Excel cost "thousands out of pocket" with no follow-up blood work. The review was posted September 2, 2026, with an experience date of September 1. That's one person's report. We couldn't verify it. You'd see it on Royal's Trustpilot page anyway. 11
  • Male Excel builds thyroid medicine into its priced bundle. That's the same extra-drug question we raise about Royal; confirm the clinical reason, whether it is optional, and the price without it. 4
  • Male Excel won't send prescriptions to a different pharmacy, and its terms say its pharmacies don't use child-resistant packaging. 35
  • Male Excel's guarantee covers qualifying membership fees, not medicine. 36
  • Male Excel bills medicine in 60-day blocks — it doesn't solve a preference for smaller medicine payments each month. 4
  • Hone's own pages list two different prices for the same at-lab confirmation test ($45 and $50). 5 27
  • Taurus's offer and terms leave a recurring fee unresolved. Its offer also has inconsistent product descriptions, while its refund policy requires 72 hours' cancellation notice. Shared program wording with Male Excel is a question, not proof of common ownership. 24 25 26

How did we build this comparison?

We read each provider's own pricing, policy, and terms pages, checked Royal's public licensing and review records, and did the year-one math ourselves. We didn't sign up with anyone. Every price has a check date, and anything we couldn't confirm is labeled.

Our method is How We Review TRT Providers. In short, we:

  • Separate four kinds of facts: what we verified, what a provider says, what customers report, and our own judgment.
  • Add up the full cost where the inputs are known, and label starting subtotals instead of passing them off as complete quotes.
  • Look at the same things for every provider: testing, clinician access, state availability, treatment formats, medicine and pharmacy transparency, fertility handling, monitoring, cost, cancellation, and support.

The price tables, testing comparison, dated licensing record and stay-or-switch worksheet are our assembled evidence assets. They are not medical scores. Named-provider websites were live when checked; we did not confirm a particular open appointment, assigned clinician, pharmacy shipment, or available treatment for every state.

Three comparison errors to avoid

These are the mistakes that would change the decision:

  • Treating $195 as Royal's only starting point. Its program-options page also lists $75 and $89. Those offers still need to be checked against your own agreement. 1
  • Treating a medicine price as the whole bill. Male Excel's required membership is $99 a month; Hone also charges membership separately from medicine. 4 5
  • Treating current plans and old commentary as interchangeable. Use the actual offer, terms and check date. A historical customer experience can identify a question, but it cannot establish today's policy.

What else should you ask about Royal Medical Center alternatives?

Before paying another provider, make sure the questions that could change your decision have written answers. The most useful checks concern the full bill, the exact prescription, existing records, cancellation and who handles the next clinical step.

What is the best alternative to Royal Medical Center?

It depends on why you're leaving. Male Excel is worth comparing for its stated avoidance of routine estrogen blockers or its cream option, not for the lowest price. Henry advertises lower starting fees than Royal's $195 plan; Royal's own $75 offer deserves a check first. Your doctor or a specialist may be the better route for insurance, a specific approved product or fertility. 2 4 3 1

Is there a cheaper TRT than Royal Medical Center?

The compared alternatives advertise lower fees than Royal's $195 plan, but not lower monthly fees than its $75 option. That does not prove $75 is the cheapest complete care available anywhere. Compare the written total for your actual prescription, testing and billing terms. 1 3 14

Which online TRT clinic doesn't use an estrogen blocker?

Male Excel says it doesn't prescribe estrogen blockers as part of its routine TRT. Hone lists anastrozole separately, and Henry says a provider may prescribe it if appropriate. Those are provider statements, not a clinical rule that tells you whether you need one. 2 5 3

Does any online TRT clinic take insurance?

Online appointments and insurance payment are separate questions. Male Excel says it does not accept insurance; the cash prices here do not establish every provider's reimbursement options. Ask your insurer about an in-network clinician who offers suitable remote follow-up, and check lab and prescription coverage separately. 18 See providers and care routes that take insurance.

Which Royal alternatives offer testosterone cream?

Male Excel, Hone Health, and Henry Meds all list a testosterone cream. These are compounded options, not FDA-approved gels. Royal's TRT plans compared here list injections; ask Royal directly if it offers another format for your situation. 4 5 6 1

Is Male Excel better than Royal Medical Center?

It can fit a different preference, such as cream or a provider-stated approach without routine estrogen blockers. It is more expensive on the starting-rate calculation: $2,727 for injections before shipping versus Royal's $2,340 program-fee subtotal. It also bundles thyroid medicine in its pricing and restricts pharmacy choice, so the switch is not automatically simpler. 4 2 35

Is Viking Alternative Medicine a good Royal alternative?

A comparable current first-year quote for Viking was not established in this comparison, so it is not included in the priced table. Ask Viking for an itemized written quote and the same prescriber, pharmacy, testing and exit terms in our checklist. A provider's own comparison does not replace those answers.

Can I switch TRT providers without stopping treatment?

That is for the receiving clinician to determine after reviewing your care. Get your records, tell the new prescriber everything you take, and ask both clinicians how to handle the handoff. Don't stop, start, or overlap testosterone on your own. Enrollment alone does not guarantee continued prescribing.

Will a new clinic accept my Royal lab results?

Some providers review existing results, but a general policy is not acceptance of your report. TRT Nation's homepage and FAQ give different age windows — six months and typically 120 days. Ask which tests, dates and collection methods the receiving clinician accepts before paying for new ones. 39 23

How do I cancel Royal Medical Center?

We did not find Royal's post-approval cancellation terms in the public pages reviewed. Ask for your agreement, cancel in writing when you decide to end the account, ask whether any further charge will post, and keep the reply. Its advertised medical-ineligibility refund does not establish a refund after ordinary cancellation. 1

Is Royal Medical Center the same as Royal Men's Medical Center?

Reviews on Royal Medical Center's current Trustpilot profile use both names. Match the actual website, contact details and legal practice on your agreement rather than assuming that every business with a similar name is the same entity. 11

Are compounded and FDA-approved testosterone the same thing?

No. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review those finished preparations for safety, effectiveness and quality before marketing. FDA-approved products, like Kyzatrex, went through FDA review. That does not make different products interchangeable or guarantee that either fits your care. 13 7

I want kids soon. Which alternative is best?

A reproductive urologist or another fertility-focused clinician is the better next step. Testosterone can lower sperm production, and adding another medicine does not guarantee protection. Already taking TRT? Discuss the plan with your clinician rather than changing treatment yourself. 8 33

Is Taurus Meds the same company as Male Excel?

We couldn't confirm that. Taurus's landing page mentions "The Excel Advantage HRT program," a name Male Excel also uses. Shared wording is not proof of ownership; ask Taurus which medical practice, clinician and pharmacy would serve you. 24 36

Does Royal Medical Center offer women's hormone therapy?

Royal markets women's programs. This page covers adult men's testosterone-deficiency care only; its diagnostic framework and comparisons should not be applied to women's or gender-affirming hormone care. 21

What is the right next step?

Start with your reason, not a ranking. For some men, the best Royal Medical Center alternative is checking Royal's own $75 plan; for others, it's comparing Male Excel, Hone, Henry, or their own doctor against the problem they need solved. Wherever you go, get the full-year price in writing and look up your prescriber's authorization yourself.
