Valhalla Vitality TRT Alternatives: Compare State Lists and Year-One Costs
Valhalla Vitality TRT alternatives fit different reasons for leaving. Compare Male Excel for its published care model, Hone Health for scheduled labs, and TRT Nation for its $99.99 monthly base and 2.5-month minimum. Full costs and state eligibility need checking. For insurance, an FDA-approved product, or fertility plans, start with an appropriate clinician.

One more thing before you pick. Valhalla's homepage says it serves all 50 states. Its own clinician roster lists prescribing credentials and states covering 26. That is a disclosure gap, not proof that the other 24 are unavailable. We mapped every state below. Valhalla's homepage · Care network
Who this is for: Adult men comparing evaluation or treatment for testosterone deficiency, including current Valhalla patients planning a switch with a clinician.
Quick picks
- Male Excel — worth comparing if you want published price components and a stated one-provider care model. Skip it if you live in AL, AK, AR, CT, HI, ID, LA, MN, MS, NH or RI, or need one fixed price that includes everything.
- Hone Health — worth comparing if you want frequent, scheduled labs. Skip it if you live in one of the 14 states (plus D.C.) outside its men's Plus and Premium lists, or want medication priced into one number.
- TRT Nation — worth comparing for its $99.99 monthly base. Skip it if you need clear refund protection or to pay one month at a time.
- Taurus — an advertised all-in monthly price. Skip it until it confirms its fees in writing.
- Your doctor or a urologist — start here for insurance-billed care or to discuss an FDA-approved product. For fertility plans, a reproductive urologist may be the right specialist.

Which Valhalla Vitality TRT alternatives should you compare?
The six alternatives compared here are Male Excel, Hone Health, TRT Nation, Taurus, Defy Medical and care through your doctor or urologist. We checked the companies' published testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) prices and terms on October 13, 2026; the table separates known charges from costs that still need a quote. Valhalla's TRT product page requires sign-in to see its price, so its total can't be compared from public information.
Compounded means a drug is mixed, combined or changed to meet a medical need. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA doesn't review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they're sold. FDA-approved means the exact product went through FDA review. Both testosterone categories require a prescription. They are not the same thing, and we keep them separate on every page. FDA on compounded drugs
The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.
How we did the math
We used only numbers each company publishes. No coupons, no insurance, no dose changes. These are 12-month budget scenarios, not complete quotes or a record of every charge in your first 365 days. Startup testing can delay treatment, and multi-month purchases can put cash payments ahead of the supply used.
- Male Excel: $99 start + ($99 membership × 12) + ($120 injections × 12) = $2,727, plus shipping. The cream package runs $132/month, which makes $2,871, plus shipping. Both starting packages include thyroid medication; your prescription and any extra testing can change the bill. Published price components
- Hone Plus: $45 first test + $45 or $50 confirmation test + ($135 × 12) = $1,710 to $1,715, plus medication. Hone's two help pages list the at-lab confirmation test at $45 and $50; the home confirmation kit is $80, making that subtotal $1,745. Injections start at $28 per vial on the plan page. How long a vial lasts depends on your prescription, so we didn't turn that into a monthly number. Compounded cream is listed at $60/month, which would bring the at-lab scenario to $2,430–$2,435, before other unconfirmed charges. Plus prices · Test schedule and fees
- Hone Premium: $65 + $25 + ($155 × 12) = $1,950, plus medication. Premium prices
Hone's general retesting FAQ also says clinically necessary retesting or confirmation has no extra charge, despite the paid startup figures above. Ask which policy applies to your order before treating these scenarios as your bill. Retesting policy
- TRT Nation: $99.99 × 12 = $1,199.88. Add three $129 lab panels (a starting panel, plus the 10-week and 6-month checks in its FAQ) = $1,586.88. This calculation assumes three panels; it does not prove those are all the tests you will need. Purchases cover 2.5-month periods, so $99.99 is not a one-month checkout bill. Five base-price purchases would cover 12.5 months and cost about $1,249.88 before labs; ask for actual payment dates. California pricing may differ. Prices · Labs · FAQ · Purchase policy
- Taurus: $49 + ($149 × 12) = $1,837, using its offer page. Its legal terms also list a $17.99 fee per billing period unless the purchase states otherwise. We couldn't confirm whether that fee applies to TRT. If it applies monthly for 12 months, it adds $215.88, making $2,052.88; that is a conditional calculation, not a verified offer. Ask before you pay. Offer · Terms, section 28
- Defy Medical: Defy says first-year costs average "under $175 per month," covering testosterone, an estrogen-control drug, labs and consults. That's an illustration, not a quote, a price ceiling or a recommendation to add that drug. Defy's cost illustration
- Valhalla: Its TRT product price requires sign-in. We could not verify a current public medication price or a complete lab schedule. Ask Valhalla for a written 12-month total. TRT listing · Lab listing

Why are people leaving Valhalla Vitality?
Public prices, support access and state details are reasons to compare options. TRT prices sit behind a login, the contact page directs customer inquiries to tickets, and its published MD/NP/APRN roster names 26 states while the homepage advertises all 50. Customer reviews include both order and support complaints and positive experiences; they do not tell us how often patients leave or why. Pricing · Contact page · Customer reviews
Valhalla Vitality's site is operating and publishes clinician names and three pharmacy partners: The Pharmacy Hub, Strive Pharmacy and Rx Compound Store. It states that compounded drugs aren't FDA-approved; the partner list does not identify which pharmacy would fill your TRT prescription. It sells far more than TRT: its homepage lists 25 weight-loss therapies, 19 hormone therapies and 18 peptide therapies. Care network · Homepage
But we found five questions its public promises don't settle:
What customers report. At our check, Valhalla held a 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 1,565 reviews. It invites customers to review, has a paid Trustpilot subscription, and had replied to 60% of negative reviews. These are company-wide reviews, not a TRT-specific sample. A few recent examples show both service concerns and positive experiences: Original Trustpilot profile
- A reviewer named Morgan (2 stars, posted September 13, 2026) said the first month went smoothly, but then couldn't reach anyone to get the next month's prescription. The review didn't name the product. Original review on Trustpilot
- A reviewer named Bob (1 star, posted September 23, 2026) said his first order still hadn't arrived after a month. Valhalla replied that it found a fulfillment problem and the order was in transit. Review and company reply
- On the other side, a reviewer describing testosterone therapy, Paula V (5 stars, posted September 2, 2026; experience dated August 9), said Valhalla prescribed after other providers gave the runaround. The one complaint was price. Paula V's original review
Reviews tell you about service, not about whether a treatment is safe or works. For our full look at Valhalla, read our Valhalla Vitality TRT review.
Should you stay with Valhalla instead?
Staying makes sense if a named Valhalla clinician is licensed in your state, your orders arrive on time, and you can get a written 12-month price. Switching makes sense if you can't get that price, can't reach a clinician when you need one, or cannot confirm an appropriately licensed TRT clinician for your location.
Switching can have a cost. You may pay a new start-up fee or need new labs, and a new clinician must review you. So before you leave, send Valhalla three questions in writing:
- What will my next 12 months of TRT cost, including labs and shipping?
- Which named clinician, licensed in my state, will prescribe for me?
- How often will you check my labs, and which tests will you run?
If the answers are clear, staying is a reasonable choice. If you still can't get those answers from the care team, keep comparing. Our Valhalla Vitality TRT cost guide shows how to read the quote.
What do Valhalla Vitality and its alternatives publish about your state?
Valhalla's published MD/NP/APRN roster names 26 states. Of the other 24, Male Excel or Hone's men's Plus/Premium plans list availability in 18. The remaining six—Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Rhode Island—need direct confirmation from Valhalla, or a different care route.
How we built this map. For Valhalla, we counted states named beside physician (MD), nurse practitioner (NP) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) entries on its "Our Care Network" page, including PracticeSYNC affiliations. We excluded entries showing only RN or DC credentials; we did not independently check anyone's licenses or prescribing authority. For Male Excel, we used the 11 states its own site says it doesn't serve. For Hone, we used its state list from September 4, 2026, which differs by men's plan. We did not verify complete TRT Nation or Taurus state lists. Valhalla roster · Male Excel FAQ · Hone state list
One fair note: a gap in Valhalla's published list doesn't prove it can't treat you. It may have clinicians it doesn't list. If you live in one of those 24 states, ask Valhalla in writing which licensed clinician would prescribe for you.
Reading the map: A Valhalla check means a state appears beside an MD, NP or APRN roster entry. Its dash means no such entry was found, not that TRT is unavailable. Male Excel checks and Hone plan names reflect their published service lists.
The short version:
- Male Excel lists service in 16 of the 24 states missing from Valhalla's roster, including Arizona, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts and Washington.
- Hone adds two more: Idaho and Mississippi.
- Valhalla's MD/NP/APRN roster includes three states Male Excel excludes: Alabama, Hawaii and Louisiana. Hone lists Hawaii on its Plus plan.
- Six states still need direct confirmation: Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Male Excel and Hone's men's plans do not list service there, and Valhalla's roster does not settle its availability. Ask Valhalla, check TRT Nation's state requirements before paying, or start with a local doctor or urologist.
This table covers the 50 states. Hone separately excludes D.C. from these men's plans; we did not verify D.C. TRT availability for Valhalla or Male Excel.
A state list is a starting point, not a promise. The clinician still decides whether treatment is appropriate. Ask for the assigned clinician's name, credentials, state license and next appointment; our provider-license guide explains the checks. Male Excel also notes that DEA and state laws may require an in-person exam for some patients. Male Excel disclosures · Hone state list

Which alternative matches your reason for leaving?
Match the replacement to your problem. Male Excel's published care model, Hone's scheduled labs and TRT Nation's monthly base answer different questions; none proves better outcomes or a complete lower bill. Insurance-billed care points to your own doctor or a urologist, while near-term fertility plans point to a reproductive urologist.
Sources for these matches: Male Excel pricing and care, Hone billing and refill timing and lab schedule, TRT Nation prices, Defy Advice-Only, testosterone cypionate labeling and AUA/ASRM fertility guidance. The provider choices are our judgment about fit with those published terms.
Is Male Excel the alternative for men tired of surprises and ticket queues?
Male Excel publishes its startup, membership and starting medication prices, and says care stays with one provider with check-ins every 60 days. Its injection scenario totals $2,727 before shipping and any extra charges, so it is not a complete first-year quote. It lists service in 39 states and describes its testosterone program as using compounded testosterone, which is not FDA-approved. Prices · Care model · States
What you get
- $99 to start. That covers an online consultation and an at-home hormone test. Male Excel says results come about five business days after its lab gets your kit.
- $99/month membership, required. Male Excel says it includes a dedicated provider, unlimited e-visits and unlimited messaging with its support team.
- Medication billed every other month, in 60-day supplies. Injections start at $120/month and cream at $132/month. The price changes with your dose. Male Excel markets testosterone cypionate injections under the skin and a compounded topical cream; confirm the exact preparation and schedule in your clinical plan.
- Labs every 6 months and 60-day check-ins, per its homepage.
- Phone support 7 days a week, 7am to 9pm ET.
- No insurance. Male Excel says FSA/HSA reimbursement may be possible; check your plan's rules.
- No contract. Male Excel says you can cancel anytime. Ask Member Support for the cutoff and save written confirmation.
These are Male Excel's published inclusions and service promises, not tested response times. Its FAQ says you have 48 hours to act on a renewal reminder before billing and shipment; confirm how to cancel the next order. Pricing · FAQ · Terms
The trade-off, up front
Male Excel's $99 membership is not the whole bill. The published injection package adds at least $120 a month, plus shipping. If one fixed price is what you need, this is the wrong payment model. But its stated one-provider care model, scheduled 60-day check-ins and seven-day support hours address the questions raised by the Valhalla complaints above. Those features may be worth paying for if continuity and access are what you were missing. Published charges and support · Care model
Four things to ask Male Excel before you pay
We'd ask these of any provider. These are the ones that matter most here.
- "Is testosterone-only an option?" Every injection and cream package on Male Excel's price page includes thyroid medication. Its own safety information says that thyroid product treats hypothyroidism, an underactive thyroid. The American Thyroid Association says there's no evidence T3 therapy beats placebo for vague symptoms when thyroid hormone levels are normal. Male Excel's homepage says thyroid is prescribed when appropriate; the package price does not tell you whether you need it. If you don't have a thyroid diagnosis, ask. Package prices · Thyroid statement
- "How will you check my hematocrit before I start?" Hematocrit is the share of your blood made of red blood cells. Testosterone can raise it. The American Urological Association says clinicians should check it before starting. Male Excel's home test lists testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, free T3 and PSA, but not hematocrit. Its homepage also says prescribing may occur before lab results arrive when the clinician considers it appropriate. Ask which diagnostic results and blood-count tests the clinician will review before prescribing for you. The starter list alone does not answer that. Starter test · Homepage process · AUA guideline
- "Can I fill my prescription elsewhere?" No. Male Excel's terms say it can't send your prescription to a different pharmacy. Its FAQ names Anazao Health Corp. and WellDyneRx-FL; ask which would dispense your exact product. Terms · Pharmacy FAQ
- "What can be refunded?" Its terms say all sales are final. Its 90-day Excel Advantage Guarantee lets eligible new members request a refund of their first three months' membership fees if symptoms don't improve, subject to its review and adherence rules. You have to document that you followed the plan and ask within 30 days after day 90. It doesn't cover medication. Sales terms · Guarantee terms
What customers say
At our October 13, 2026 check, Male Excel's Trustpilot profile displayed 4.5 out of 5 from 6,678 reviews. It invites customer reviews and has a paid Trustpilot subscription. Original profile
"Communication is great and the process is easy." — Mark, 5 stars; posted September 19, 2026 (experience dated September 12, 2026). Original review
"Been on TRT since May 2026 no change" — Bumgarner, 1 star; posted September 26, 2026 (experience dated September 15, 2026). Original review

Is Hone Health the alternative for men who want scheduled lab checks?
Hone's Plus plan lists a second testosterone test before TRT and follow-up labs at months 3, 6, 9, 12 and 18. It lists $45 for a first test, $45 to $50 for at-lab confirmation or $80 at home, then $135 a month plus medication. It lists men's Plus in 35 states, and its advertised injections and creams are compounded. Plus plan · Lab schedule · State list
What you get
- A confirmation test before TRT. Hone's confirmation panel checks total testosterone a second time, plus prolactin, PSA and hematocrit. One low result isn't enough to diagnose low testosterone, but a second result alone is not a diagnosis either; the clinician must assess symptoms, properly timed results and the cause. Endocrine Society guidance
- $135/month Plus membership. It covers follow-up labs, follow-up consults and free shipping, per Hone's help center.
- Medication billed separately. The plan page lists testosterone cypionate injections from $28 per vial. Compounded cream and troches—dissolving preparations—are estimated at $60/month.
- Premium plan for $155/month after a $65 test and $25 confirmation. It adds a bigger lab panel with follow-up tests at months 3, 6, 9 and 12, then 18 and 24; the panel depends on the care plan. Premium covers New York; Plus doesn't. Premium lab schedule
- Cancel anytime. Its refund policy records cancellation when you submit Hone's form, while its Premium page says it takes effect at the end of the paid period; confirm when access ends. Membership and pending prescriptions must be cancelled separately, and processed or shipped medication orders cannot be refunded. Cancellation policy · Premium terms
- Your records. Hone documents a way to export your consult history from your account. Ask separately for any lab or prescription records you need that are not in that export. Export instructions
Know before you start: Hone's $25 Basic plan is not a TRT plan. Its homepage stories are labeled "Compensated Hone Patient." And neither men's TRT tier is listed in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, D.C., Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island or South Carolina. Does TRT Nation fit a price-first shortlist?
TRT Nation lists testosterone at $99.99 a month with a 2.5-month minimum purchase, and its $129 TRT lab panel costs extra unless it accepts your recent results. Its FAQ says it uses compounding pharmacies; confirm the exact testosterone preparation. Its published refund and monitoring rules conflict, so the base price is only the start of the comparison. Prices · Labs · FAQ · Cancellation policy
It's here because, for a price-first reader, the published base and minimum purchase are useful numbers to compare.
- Price: $99.99/month, sold in 2.5-month minimum purchases (about $250 per order). California pricing may differ.
- Labs: $129 for a panel listing total testosterone, complete blood count (which includes hematocrit), metabolic panel, estradiol and PSA with an asterisk, at Labcorp or Quest. Confirm whether PSA and any repeat diagnostic test are included for you. It may accept your own labs from about the last 120 days if they contain the required markers. Lab order page · Outside-lab policy
- Lab schedule: after 10 weeks, again 6 months after your first lab, then yearly, per its FAQ. Its cost/process page instead says stable monitoring continues every six months. Get your required schedule in writing. FAQ · Cost/process page
- Refills: you request each one. Nothing refills automatically.
- Support: messaging, plus phone on weekdays, 10am to 5pm ET.
- Refunds: its cancellation policy describes a no-refund, no-return policy. Its cost/process page promises a full refund if the consultation concludes treatment is not the right fit. Ask which rule applies before paying. Cancellation policy · Cost/process page
- Other options: enclomiphene at $99.99/month and a TRT-plus-hCG plan at $180/month. The combined plan has a 2.5-month minimum; enclomiphene is listed as a 30-day supply. Those are different treatments; see the fertility section. Treatment listings
Who should skip it: anyone who wants to pay month to month or needs clear refund protection. If seeing the same clinician matters, ask whether that can be arranged. See TRT Nation's current price and minimum purchase.
Does Taurus offer an all-in monthly price?
Taurus's offer page lists a $49 lab test and consultation, then $149 a month "all inclusive" with no membership fee. Its legal terms, though, list a $17.99 fee per billing period unless the purchase states otherwise, and its refund policy and offer page describe refunds differently. The exact testosterone product and its approval status need confirmation. Offer · Terms · Refund policy
Taurus names OpenLoop Health as a management-services partner and four pharmacies: RedRock Pharmacy, Health Warehouse, Precision Compounding Pharmacy and Triad Rx. It says testing uses Labcorp or Quest, or a home kit if you're more than 50 miles from one. A named partner is not proof of which clinician or pharmacy will handle your order. Partner disclosures · Testing offer
But its documents don't line up:
- Fees. The offer page says no membership fees. The terms (section 28) list a $17.99 fee per billing period unless otherwise stated at purchase.
- Refunds. The offer page promises a full refund, minus lab and pharmacy fees, if you don't see results in 90 days. Its refund policy (updated February 28, 2026) generally limits subscription refunds to medical disqualification, with separate error and replacement provisions. It does not clearly reconcile that rule with the 90-day offer.
- Cancelling. You must cancel at least 72 hours before your billing date, or you'll be charged once more.
- Free test. The homepage advertises a free testosterone test. The offer page charges $49. These may be different offers; confirm which terms apply.
The refund policy also says the first subscription month is charged when intake is completed. Ask when each payment occurs, including whether you pay for medication before the clinician call. Offer sequence · Billing and refunds
None of this means Taurus is a bad option. It means you should get the total in writing first. Ask: Does the $17.99 fee apply to TRT? How long is the commitment? Which exact testosterone product will I get? Do you serve my state?
If an all-in monthly price is what you want, get those four answers before you enter card details. Read Taurus's fee terms alongside its published $49 lab-and-consult offer.
Can Defy Medical give you a second opinion before you decide?
Defy Medical charges per service instead of a monthly fee, and says first-year TRT costs average under $175 a month. It also offers an Advice-Only consult of up to an hour that reviews your current plan. That consult does not prescribe or manage your care. Cost FAQ · Advice-Only service
Defy fits two kinds of readers:
- You want care without a subscription. You pay for individual labs, visits and medication purchases. Defy says the "under $175/month" figure covers testosterone, an estrogen-control drug, labs and consultations, but calls it an illustration, not a quote.
- You're not sure Valhalla is wrong for you. The Advice-Only consult gives you written recommendations to take to your current clinician. It doesn't replace one.
We couldn't verify a current state-by-state TRT list. Defy's terms, effective April 2, 2026, require approval for refills and completion of the ordered labs, examinations and consultations. They generally call for labs and consultations at least every six months and a physical at least every 24 months, unless the clinician documents a different plan.
Dispensed medication is nonrefundable. A lab cancellation before specimens are submitted can receive account credit minus a $25 fee; a missed consultation or cancellation with less than 24 hours' notice can incur the full consultation fee. Defy says it does not accept insurance but can provide a superbill—an itemized receipt for a possible reimbursement claim, not a promise of payment. Current terms
Ask for an itemized quote, the exact medication and dispensing pharmacy, state eligibility, and the next available appointment. See what Defy's Advice-Only consult includes.
Can you use insurance or get FDA-approved testosterone instead?
A primary care doctor or urologist can prescribe FDA-approved generic testosterone cypionate. Insurance may also cover the visits and labs. Ask about appointment timing and whether your evaluation requires an in-person visit. Approved generic label
At our October 13, 2026 check, GoodRx listed coupon prices for one 10 mL vial of generic testosterone cypionate at $22.46 for 100 mg/mL and $48.79 for 200 mg/mL. Those are medication-only price snapshots, not a monthly or first-year treatment bill, and pharmacy prices can change. GoodRx price table
If you want insurance to pay for your clinical care, price the route you already have: your own doctor. Male Excel, Hone and Defy explicitly say they do not accept insurance. Hone, however, says it can send eligible prescriptions to your own pharmacy; membership continues, the pharmacy charges for medication, and Hone does not handle prior authorizations. Ask whether an FDA-approved product can be prescribed and covered in your case. Online care does not automatically mean compounded medication. Male Excel terms · Hone insurance and pharmacy policy · Defy terms
Kyzatrex is an FDA-approved oral testosterone (testosterone undecanoate capsules). Valhalla lists it. Current product label · Valhalla listing If that's what you take now, switching to a compounded injection or cream isn't a like-for-like swap. It's a different product, so talk it through with the clinician who'd prescribe it.
Questions to ask your doctor or insurer:
- Do you treat low testosterone, or should I see a urologist or endocrinologist?
- Are the labs and visits covered?
- Is my testosterone product on my plan's formulary? Does it need prior authorization?
- Which pharmacy can fill it, and what will I pay?
Our online-versus-local care guide and treatment-format guide explain those separate choices.
Not sure whether online or local care is your better starting point? Map your care route with Find My TRT Path.
What if you might want kids?
Talk to a urologist or reproductive urologist before switching to another testosterone program. Testosterone from outside the body can lower sperm production, and the American Urological Association says it shouldn't be prescribed to men who are trying to conceive. No add-on guarantees your fertility will be protected or restored. AUA guidance, statement 23 · AUA/ASRM fertility guidance
Several providers here sell drugs that are often marketed as fertility-friendly. They are not testosterone replacement therapy, and they aren't interchangeable with it:
- hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). Pregnyl is FDA-approved for selected cases of male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism caused by pituitary hormone deficiency—too little hormonal stimulation of the testes. That does not include every cause of low testosterone or establish that a TRT add-on preserves fertility. TRT Nation sells a TRT-plus-hCG plan; confirm its exact hCG product. Pregnyl label · TRT Nation listing
- Clomiphene. FDA-approved clomiphene products treat ovulation problems in women. Use in men is off-label. Off-label means outside the approved uses on the drug's label. Male Excel's Triclozene is a compounded mix of clomiphene, thyroid medication and selenomethionine. Hone sells compounded clomiphene. Those compounded preparations are not FDA-approved. Clomiphene label · Male Excel product description · Hone products
- Enclomiphene. Compounded enclomiphene is not FDA-approved. Hone, TRT Nation, Taurus and Valhalla list enclomiphene products; those listings are not FDA approval or proof of fertility protection. FDA on compounding · Hone · TRT Nation · Taurus · Valhalla catalogue
Which of these, if any, fits you is a decision for a fertility-aware clinician. Bring your current medication list and any semen test results you have. Our TRT fertility guide covers the questions to take to that visit.
How do you plan a switch from Valhalla Vitality?
Get your records first, start the new provider's intake while you still have medication, and coordinate cancellation once your new clinical plan is confirmed. If you have a Valhalla subscription, its cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid term. The receiving clinician reviews your records, decides whether more testing is needed, and decides whether to prescribe; an existing prescription does not guarantee continuation. Valhalla subscription terms
New diagnosis or a transfer: which tests matter?
For a new diagnosis, guidelines call for compatible symptoms or signs plus consistently low testosterone, confirmed with repeat early-morning measurements on separate days; the Endocrine Society specifies fasting morning testing. One result, a questionnaire or one cutoff does not diagnose low testosterone. The clinician also checks why levels are low.
If you already take TRT, the receiving clinician interprets results in the context of your treatment and reviews the original diagnostic records. Do not stop treatment on your own to recreate an untreated test. Ask which outside results are accepted, what further tests are needed, and what they cost. Endocrine Society guideline · AUA guidance
Our TRT blood-test guide explains the testing questions to bring.
A recent heart attack or stroke, untreated severe sleep apnea, high hematocrit, or a prostate-cancer concern needs assessment by the treating clinician, with specialist input when appropriate, before choosing a new program on price. A provider comparison cannot clear those risks. Endocrine Society recommendations
The five-step switch
- Get your records. Ask Valhalla for your lab results, prescriptions and visit notes through a support ticket, and keep a copy of your request. We did not find a dedicated clinical-record export process in the public pages checked, so put the request in writing. Contact page · Privacy policy
- Write down two dates. Your next Valhalla charge date, and the day your current supply runs out.
- Start the new intake while you still have supply. New labs and review take time. Male Excel, for example, says home-test results arrive about five business days after its lab gets your kit.
- Tell the new clinician exactly what you take. Don't stop, stretch or change your testosterone on your own. The new clinician decides what happens next.

Will online TRT still work after December 31, 2026?
The rules for patients relying on the temporary no-prior-in-person-visit flexibility in 2027 are not yet settled. The current federal extension runs through December 31, 2026, subject to its conditions and state rules. A DEA special-registration final rule has been under White House regulatory review since August 25, 2026, with final action targeted for November; a target is not an effective rule. Current extension · Pending review · Official timetable
Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance and requires a valid prescription for patient treatment. The clinician must follow both federal and state rules, including licensing requirements for your location. The temporary route is conditional; an online questionnaire alone does not satisfy it. DEA schedules · Federal rule
The current flexibilities come from a fourth temporary extension published December 31, 2025. A permanent "special registration" framework for telemedicine was proposed in January 2025. The final rule is still under review. Until the rules are settled, no one can promise exactly what online TRT looks like in 2027. Some patients may need an in-person exam; others may have a lawful route based on a prior in-person evaluation or another applicable exception. Extension and background · Rulemaking record
So add one question to your list for any new provider: "What's your plan for my prescription if the federal rules change on January 1?" We'll update this section when the rule is published.
How did we check these alternatives?
We checked public provider pages and primary clinical and federal sources on October 12–13, 2026. We calculated the published-price scenarios, checked all 50 state-table rows, and distinguished provider promises from independently established facts. We didn't buy treatment or test anyone's support line, and inclusion isn't an endorsement.
We follow our published method, How We Review TRT Providers. It separates four things: facts we verified, facts a provider states, customer-experience signals, and our own judgment. We don't give providers numeric scores.
What we actually verified (October 13, 2026)
Sources checked: Valhalla's homepage, testosterone page, TRT product page, care network page and terms (updated February 18, 2026). Male Excel's pricing page, FAQ, home test page, homepage, terms (July 2026) and guarantee terms. Hone's homepage, product pages and help center articles on Plus, Premium, lab schedules, retesting, state availability, billing, cancellation, record export, insurance and local pharmacies. TRT Nation's product page, lab order page, FAQ, cost/process page and cancellation policy. Taurus's homepage, offer page, terms and refund policy (February 28, 2026). Defy's cost FAQ and Advice-Only page, Get Started page and current terms (effective April 2, 2026). Original Trustpilot pages for Valhalla and Male Excel. Endocrine Society and AUA/ASRM guidance, the American Thyroid Association, current drug labels, FDA, CDC, GoodRx, the federal telemedicine rule, and official regulatory-review records.
Verified on the page: Valhalla's TRT price requires sign-in. Its MD/NP/APRN roster entries name 26 states; this is not verified treatment coverage. The published price components, state-list entries, cancellation terms and policy conflicts described above. Valhalla lists FDA-approved Kyzatrex; Male Excel and Hone publish compounded-product descriptions. Approval status must be checked for the exact dispensed product.
Provider-stated, not tested: Male Excel's dedicated provider and unlimited e-visits. Hone's lab schedule. TRT Nation's lab schedule. Taurus's "all inclusive" price. Defy's cost averages.
Couldn't confirm: Valhalla's current TRT price and full lab schedule. Which pharmacy would fill an individual patient's TRT, the exact product or final invoice for each plan, and any unlisted testing or shipping charges. Whether Taurus's $17.99 fee applies to TRT, and its complete state list. Complete current TRT Nation and Defy state lists. Assigned clinician availability, individual licenses, real response times or successful record transfers. We did not enroll, buy treatment, test checkout or contact support.
Why there's no single "best" pick. Valhalla's price isn't public, and people leave for different reasons. A ranking would hide that. So we matched each alternative's published model to the problem you want to solve.
What else should you ask about Valhalla Vitality TRT alternatives?
The last checks are your actual state eligibility, complete quote, accepted records and next clinical appointment. Published plans can narrow the shortlist, but the receiving clinician must review your care before a prescription continues.
What is the best alternative to Valhalla Vitality for TRT?
It depends on why you're leaving. Male Excel fits men who want published price components and its stated one-provider model. Hone fits men who want scheduled labs. TRT Nation offers a $99.99 monthly base with a 2.5-month minimum. Your own doctor is a starting point for insurance-billed care or an FDA-approved product. Male Excel · Hone · TRT Nation
Is there a cheaper alternative to Valhalla Vitality?
We can't say for sure, because Valhalla's TRT product price requires sign-in. The $1,586.88 TRT Nation figure above is an annualized base-plus-three-panels scenario, not a guaranteed first-year bill. Compare a written Valhalla quote with the full alternative quote, including any insurance-covered route through your own doctor. Valhalla listing · TRT Nation prices and labs
Which Valhalla alternatives work in my state?
Check the state map above. Male Excel lists service in 39 states and Hone in 35 on men's Plus. Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Rhode Island have no counted Valhalla roster entry and are not listed for Male Excel or Hone's men's Plus/Premium plans; confirm Valhalla's actual availability directly. Can I transfer my Valhalla prescription to another provider?
Not automatically. A new clinician has to review you and decide whether to prescribe, and may request new labs. Bring your Valhalla records so the clinician can assess your current care.
Do I need new bloodwork to switch?
It depends on the receiving clinician and your records. Some providers accept recent outside labs, such as TRT Nation's roughly 120-day window, if the required markers are included. Ask before you pay. TRT Nation's lab policy
How do I cancel Valhalla Vitality?
If you have a subscription, log in and cancel it in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid term, so coordinate the timing with your new care plan, cancel before your next charge, and save the confirmation. Ask separately about any pending medication order. Valhalla terms
Will Valhalla refund me if I switch?
Switching alone does not establish a refund right. Valhalla's terms generally make dispensed medication nonrefundable, with limited verified pharmacy-error, shipping-damage or fulfillment exceptions. If a provider declined you after you prepaid, you can choose a refund to the original payment method over reward points. Valhalla refund terms
Is Male Excel better than Valhalla Vitality?
Male Excel publishes starting price components, a one-provider care model and seven-day support hours. Those may fit what you were missing, but we did not test better support or clinical outcomes. Its injection scenario is $2,727 before shipping and any extra charges; the published package includes thyroid medication, which needs its own clinical reason. Pricing · Care model
Is Hone Health better than Valhalla Vitality?
Hone publishes a confirmation-test step and follow-up labs through the first 18 months on Plus. That gives you a schedule to compare; it does not by itself prove a complete diagnosis or better care. Neither men's TRT tier is listed in 14 states or D.C. Lab schedule · State list
Does any Valhalla alternative take insurance?
Male Excel, Hone and Defy explicitly say they do not accept insurance. Hone says an eligible prescription sent to your own pharmacy may be covered, but membership continues and Hone does not handle prior authorizations. For insurance-billed clinical care, start with your primary care doctor or a urologist. Male Excel terms · Hone insurance · Defy terms
Is the testosterone from these providers FDA-approved?
Some advertised plans use compounded testosterone, which is not FDA-approved. Valhalla also lists Kyzatrex, an FDA-approved oral product, and FDA-approved generic testosterone cypionate products are available. Ask for the exact product and dispensing pharmacy; a provider name or the words "testosterone cypionate" do not settle approval status. FDA compounding information · Kyzatrex label · Generic product label
Is online TRT legal after December 31, 2026?
The current temporary route runs through December 31, 2026; that does not settle 2027 rules for patients relying on it. A special-registration final rule is under regulatory review, with November targeted for final action. Other lawful prescribing routes may apply, so ask your provider how it will handle your prescription in January. Federal extension · Pending rule · Timetable
What should I do if I want kids?
See a urologist or reproductive urologist before starting or switching testosterone. Testosterone can lower sperm production, and the American Urological Association says it shouldn't be prescribed to men trying to conceive. AUA guidance, statement 23 · AUA/ASRM fertility guidance
