Clomiphene cost for men can mean two very different bills. In our September 2026 checks, 30 FDA-approved generic 50 mg tablets were advertised from about $154 to $400 with free discount pricing, while Hone listed compounded clomiphene from $38 a month plus a required membership. Your real cost depends on the exact product, quantity, pharmacy, insurance, testing and care fees.
There's also a $38.18 price for 30 generic tablets on GoodRx that requires a GoodRx Companion membership. And Hone advertises compounded clomiphene from $38 a month plus membership. Once you separate the drug price from the fees wrapped around it, clomiphene prices get much easier to compare.
Your number changes if your insurance covers clomiphene for your diagnosis, or if your prescription calls for something other than a plain 50 mg tablet. A few situations need a clinician before any price comparison: high LH with confirmed low testosterone, trying to conceive right now, liver disease, or competing as a tested athlete or serving in the military. We cover each one below.
Clomiphene prices at a glance
| How you pay | What we found (checked Sept. 16–17, 2026) | Not included | FDA-approved product? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Generic tablets + free discount pricing | $153.57–$399.99 for 30 × 50 mg tablets across the price lists we checked | Clinician visit, lab tests | Yes — prescribed off-label in men |
| Generic tablets + GoodRx Companion | $38.18 at Walmart in the GoodRx list, plus $14.99/month or $119.88/year for Companion | Visit, lab tests | Yes — prescribed off-label in men |
| Brand Clomid + manufacturer savings card | As little as $135 per pack for cash/uncovered patients; as little as $70 per pack for eligible commercially insured patients with coverage | Visit, lab tests; pack size must be confirmed | Yes — prescribed off-label in men |
| Hone Health | $2,121 modeled first year if the $135 Plus tier applies; $2,381 if the $155 Premium tier applies | Medication price can vary; plan assignment must be confirmed | No — Hone identifies its clomiphene as compounded |
| Male Excel Triclozene | Not treated as a clomiphene quote on this page | Current Male Excel pages conflict on whether Triclozene uses clomiphene or enclomiphene | Provider describes a proprietary multi-ingredient product |

How we make money: TRT Provider Guide may earn a commission from eligible links to Hone Health, Male Excel and Taurus Meds. That doesn't change any price or anything we publish. The pharmacy-first route on this page can pay us nothing, and we cover it first when it best matches the question. Read our affiliate disclosure.
TRT Provider Guide is the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy — helping U.S. adults understand how low testosterone is evaluated, compare online and local care models and providers, and choose the next step that fits their health needs, fertility plans, budget, state, and care preferences, with every material claim verified and dated.
The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.
The tool is educational. It doesn't diagnose low testosterone, decide eligibility or guarantee a prescription.
One thing to keep straight before the numbers: clomiphene isn't testosterone replacement therapy. It doesn't give you testosterone. It changes hormone signaling in a way that can raise your body's own testosterone production. That makes it a different drug with different costs and different fertility considerations.
How much does clomiphene cost for men?
Clomiphene cost for men has two parts: the prescription and the care around it. With WellRx near The Woodlands, Texas, 30 generic 50 mg tablets were priced from $153.57 to $366.00 on Sept. 17, 2026. Other price tools showed different figures. Clinician visits, lab tests and any program membership cost extra.1
Think of it as two bills.
Bill one is the pharmacy. That's the tablets. The price depends on the pharmacy, the discount card, the product and how many tablets you fill at once.
Bill two is the care. A licensed clinician has to evaluate you and write the prescription. You'll need blood tests before you start and again later. Some programs roll all of that into a monthly membership. Your own doctor bills it visit by visit.
Most men end up paying one of three ways:
- Your own clinician, plus a pharmacy you choose. This can give you the lowest medication price we found. Visits and labs may be covered separately by insurance.
- Brand Clomid with the manufacturer's savings card. Cosette currently offers savings for eligible commercially insured and cash-paying patients; the actual pack and final pharmacy price still need confirmation.
- An online program. This can bundle testing, clinician access, monitoring and delivery with the medication. The total may be higher, but the comparison only works when the exact product and plan are clear.
This page is about what each of those costs. If you're deciding who to get clomiphene from, our best clomiphene providers comparison covers that choice.
Why does the same clomiphene cost $150 at one pharmacy and $400 at another?
Pharmacies set their own cash prices, and each discount card negotiates its own rate with each pharmacy. On Sept. 17, 2026, the same 30 tablets cost 2.4 times more at one Texas pharmacy than at another, and a national price list showed a tenfold spread. Some of the lowest prices require a paid membership.1 2
We pulled two price lists for the exact same fill: generic clomiphene citrate, 50 mg, 30 tablets.
List one — a known location. WellRx, for pharmacies near ZIP code 77381 (The Woodlands, Texas):
| Pharmacy | WellRx price, 30 × 50 mg generic |
|---|---|
| Birdi (mail order) | $153.57 |
| Kroger | $156.07 |
| College Park Pharmacy | $180.65 |
| Walgreens | $180.89 |
| HPE Houston Pharmacy | $180.89 |
| Walmart | $229.22 |
| H-E-B | $252.96 |
| CVS | $366.00 |
*WellRx, checked Sept. 17, 2026. Displayed discount prices, not a checkout quote. WellRx says its card can't be combined with insurance.*1
List two — a national price tool. GoodRx, for the same fill:
| Pharmacy | GoodRx price, 30 × 50 mg generic | Paid GoodRx Companion required? |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart | $38.18 | Yes |
| Walgreens | $95.65 | Yes |
| Walgreens Specialty | $95.65 | Yes |
| Kroger | $153.57 | No |
| Discount Drug Mart | $155.57 | No |
| Meijer | $156.59 | No |
| Giant Eagle | $157.57 | No |
| Sam's Club | $178.89 | No |
| CVS and Target (CVS) | $236.30 | No |
| Costco | $399.99 | No |
*GoodRx, coupon prices "last updated on 09/16/26." The page we retrieved didn't show which location it priced. CVS showed a listed retail price of $389.20 beside its coupon price.*2
The $38.18 price comes with a $14.99 membership
GoodRx launched GoodRx Companion on May 27, 2026. It's a paid subscription: $14.99 a month, or $119.88 a year. The two lowest clomiphene prices in that list are Companion prices.2 3
So the "$38" fill is $53.17 in a month when you pay the $14.99 monthly Companion fee ($38.18 + $14.99). GoodRx also lists a $119.88 annual Companion option. The medication price is not the whole cost of the discount plan.2 3
Notice the shape. A cheap pill with a membership wrapped around it. That's exactly how online clomiphene programs are priced too. The only question is how big the wrapper is.
Your discount card can matter as much as your pharmacy
Here are the chains that showed up on both lists:
| Chain | GoodRx (location not shown) | WellRx (near ZIP 77381) |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart | $38.18 (with $14.99/month Companion) | $229.22 |
| Walgreens | $95.65 (with Companion) | $180.89 |
| Kroger | $153.57 | $156.07 |
| CVS | $236.30 | $366.00 |
*30 × 50 mg generic, Sept. 16–17, 2026.*1 2
That isn't a perfect side-by-side. Different cards, and GoodRx didn't show its location, so part of the gap may be geography. But the lesson holds either way: the same chain can charge very different amounts depending on the card you hand over. Check at least two cards in your own ZIP code before you fill.
Check the tablet count before you compare anything
SingleCare's clomiphene page, with prices updated Sept. 16, 2026, had its quantity selector set to 15 tablets. A few lines lower, a box labeled "Match your prescription details" said 5 tablet, 50mg. Its FAQ ties its $81.54 price to 15 tablets. Its Walgreens price showed $84.54, or $81.54 after a one-time $3 signup bonus. Costco showed $202.50.4
Two lessons from one page:
- A price means nothing until you know the quantity. A lower number for fewer tablets isn't a better deal. Line up the tablet count first. We didn't convert SingleCare's prices into a per-pill cost because we couldn't tell which count they covered.
- A first-fill discount isn't your refill price. SingleCare says its signup bonus can be used once. Ask what fill number two will cost.
SingleCare also says its displayed prices are estimates it can't guarantee, and that you should call the pharmacy with the numbers on its card for an exact price.4 That's true of every price site. A price on a screen is an estimate until the pharmacist runs it.
Before you fill: enter your exact strength and tablet count in your own ZIP code on at least two discount sites. Check whether the lowest price needs a membership. Then call the pharmacy, give them the card's BIN, GRP and PCN numbers, and ask for today's price and the refill price.
How long does a 30-tablet fill last, and what does that do to your yearly cost?
A tablet count isn't a time period. How long 30 tablets last depends on your prescription, and the pharmacy records that as the "days supply" on your label. To budget a year, multiply the price per fill by the number of fills you'll actually buy, then add visits, tests and any membership.
Most clomiphene price pages are written for women who take it a few days per cycle. GoodRx's cost guide says it plainly: in that use, 30 tablets "would likely last you for months."5 A man's prescription is often written differently, so that math doesn't carry over. Your prescriber sets the amount. We don't, and no price page should.
WellRx makes a related point: if your quantity is meant to last longer than a month, recheck the price using its three-month supply option, because the estimate can change with the supply length.1 Some price sites also list "pill splitting" as a way to save. Whether that's appropriate for your prescription is a question for your prescriber and pharmacist, not a coupon site.
Here's what the pharmacy choice alone does to a year, using the Texas prices above. We show six and twelve 30-tablet fills because those cover a lot of real prescriptions. Yours may be different.
| Pharmacy and card (30 tablets per fill) | 6 fills a year | 12 fills a year |
|---|---|---|
| Birdi mail order, WellRx (77381) | $921.42 | $1,842.84 |
| Kroger, WellRx (77381) | $936.42 | $1,872.84 |
| Walmart, WellRx (77381) | $1,375.32 | $2,750.64 |
| CVS, WellRx (77381) | $2,196.00 | $4,392.00 |
| Walmart, GoodRx + Companion (annual membership) | $348.96 | $578.04 |
*Our arithmetic from displayed prices. Tablets only — no visits, labs or shipping.*1 2 3
Within the WellRx Texas list, the pharmacy alone moved the 12-fill total by $2,549.16. The GoodRx row uses a different discount program and an unlisted location, so treat it as a separate example rather than a local side-by-side.
Thinking about a 90-day fill? GoodRx notes it can lower the total, but a prescription written for a 30-day quantity won't allow 90-day fills. You'd need a new prescription.2 Whether a larger fill makes sense is your prescriber's call, and it still needs a fresh price check.

Generic, brand Clomid, or compounded: which clomiphene are you paying for?
The FDA-approved clomiphene products we verified are 50 mg tablets sold as brand Clomid or approved generics. Their approved labeling is for ovulatory dysfunction in women; prescribing clomiphene to men is off-label. Compounded clomiphene is not FDA-approved and must be kept separate from an approved generic tablet in any price comparison.7 8 34 35
Off-label means a clinician prescribes an FDA-approved drug for a use that isn't on its label. That's legal and common. It doesn't make the use FDA-approved.35
Compounded means a pharmacy makes a custom version. The FDA doesn't review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness or quality before they're sold. A compounded product isn't a generic, and it isn't the same as an approved tablet.34
The approved clomiphene products we verified are 50 mg tablets
The current DailyMed labels we checked list 50 mg clomiphene tablets. Brand Clomid is supplied in cartons of 10 or 30, and the current Cosette generic label is also supplied in cartons of 10 or 30.7 8
That matters for your budget. If a prescription calls for a different amount, the choice is usually between a pharmacy tablet and a compounded version. That changes the price and what kind of product you're buying. Whether any tablet should be split is for your prescriber and pharmacist to decide.
Generic clomiphene
This is the lane in the price tables above, and it's usually the cheapest drug cost. You may read that it's disappearing. The details don't line up:
| What you might read What we found | |
|---|---|
| GoodRx: the generic for Clomid "is being phased out"2 | DailyMed lists current generic clomiphene labels from ANI, Accord and Cosette.8 |
| SingleCare: brand names including Clomid "have been discontinued"4 | DailyMed lists a current Clomid label distributed by Cosette, and Cost Plus Drugs lists Clomid for sale.7 11 |
| "There's a clomiphene shortage" | Par Pharmaceutical discontinued its generic in September 2022, per ASHP's shortage record. We couldn't confirm a current national shortage from a primary source.9 |
A label on DailyMed doesn't prove your local pharmacy has it in stock. If your pharmacy says it can't get clomiphene, ask which manufacturer's tablet it can order, and how long that takes, before you accept a higher price.
Brand Clomid with Cosette's savings card
Cosette Pharmaceuticals publishes a Clomid Pharmacy Savings Card. Its terms:10
- $70 per pack for commercially insured patients whose plan covers Clomid.
- $135 per pack for uncovered and cash-paying patients.
- Not valid with Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state program.
- Savings run "up to the program maximum benefit."
Two things to ask at the counter: what "per pack" means for your prescription, since Clomid is supplied in 10- and 30-tablet cartons, and what your final pharmacy charge will be. Cosette's savings page was live when rechecked in September 2026, while the downloadable card itself is dated April 2024.10
You may read online that no manufacturer copay card exists for clomiphene. Cosette's own card says otherwise.10 40
Brand Clomid by mail
Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company lists Clomid 50 mg tablets. Its current price shows at checkout, so we didn't record one.11
Compounded clomiphene
A 2024 conference abstract in The Journal of Sexual Medicine found compounded clomiphene averaged $2.21 per pill (25 mg) and $2.60 per pill (50 mg) at compounding pharmacies, compared with a national average of $4.30 per pill for Clomid at retail with GoodRx. The authors also noted clomiphene is rarely covered by insurance for male infertility and low testosterone.12
That's an abstract, not a full paper, and its prices are from 2024. Compounding also isn't a discount version of the approved tablet. It's a different kind of product.
Enclomiphene isn't the same purchase
Clomiphene is a mix of two related molecules. Enclomiphene is one of them, sold on its own. No FDA-approved enclomiphene product exists. If a program quotes enclomiphene, it's pricing a different drug.7 38
| Product | FDA status | Where you may see it | Price we found |
|---|---|---|---|
| Generic clomiphene 50 mg tablets | FDA-approved drug; men's use is off-label | Retail or mail-order pharmacy | $153.57–$399.99 per 30 in the discount lists we checked |
| Brand Clomid 50 mg tablets | FDA-approved drug; men's use is off-label | Pharmacy; Cost Plus Drugs lists the product | As little as $135 or $70 per pack under Cosette's savings terms |
| Compounded clomiphene | Not FDA-approved | Compounding pharmacy; some online programs | About $2.21–$2.60 per pill in a 2024 abstract; Hone lists from $38/month |
| Male Excel Triclozene | Product identity is inconsistent across current Male Excel pages | Male Excel | $95 or $120/month plus membership, but not comparable as a clomiphene quote until the active ingredient is confirmed |
| Enclomiphene | No FDA-approved product | Online programs | See the enclomiphene section below |

What do online clomiphene programs really cost per year?
The cleanest named clomiphene program we could price is Hone, but Hone's own pages disagree on whether clomiphene belongs to the $135 Plus tier or the $155 Premium tier. Using the published "from $38/month" medication price, that makes a modeled first year $2,121 on Plus or $2,381 on Premium. Confirm the tier before paying.13 14 15
| Cost item | Hone Plus, if applicable | Hone Premium |
|---|---|---|
| First step | $45 starter test + physician consult | $65 biomarker test + physician consult |
| Membership | $135/month | $155/month |
| Clomiphene | From $38/month | From $38/month |
| Modeled monthly total after first step | $173 | $193 |
| Modeled first year | $2,121 | $2,381 |
| Important unknown | Product page labels clomiphene "Premium Tier"; Plus help center has a clomiphene lab schedule | Final medication price can vary |
Provider-stated prices checked Sept. 17, 2026. Year-one totals are our arithmetic. They assume 12 monthly membership and medication payments and do not mean treatment lasts one year.
How we did the math:
- Hone Plus, if that tier applies: $45 + 12 × ($135 + $38) = $2,121.
- Hone Premium: $65 + 12 × ($155 + $38) = $2,381.
Hone's current Plus page says its extra confirmatory panel is for TRT patients only, so we did not add that charge to the clomiphene model.14
What the membership actually buys
That extra money isn't for the pill. It's for the care around it.
- Hone Plus lists a starter test, a live video consultation with a licensed Hone physician, follow-up lab tests, follow-up consultations and ongoing treatment access.14
- Male Excel lists a $99 monthly medical membership with ongoing provider access and separately priced medication, but we do not treat Triclozene as a clomiphene quote because its current pages conflict on the active ingredient.19 20
If you already have a clinician who can evaluate you, prescribe when appropriate and order labs through insurance, you may not need a separate membership. If you do not, the care around the prescription is what the membership is paying for.
Hone Health: clomiphene priced by name
Hone is the one major online program we found that names clomiphene and puts a price on it. Its product page reads **"From $38/mo + membership."**13 Here's what else Hone's own pages say:
- The $45 Plus starter kit lists LH, estradiol and two liver enzymes (AST and ALT), plus total and free testosterone, SHBG and albumin. LH is the signal from your brain that tells your testicles to make testosterone. SHBG is a protein that binds testosterone in the blood. Hone lists the starter test and a physician consult as steps that come before you activate the membership.14 16
- Follow-up labs for clomiphene are scheduled at 3, 6, 12 and 18 months on the Plus plan.16
- The current Plus page limits the extra confirmatory panel to TRT patients. We therefore did not add a confirmatory-test charge to the clomiphene cost model.14
- Which plan applies needs confirming. Hone's clomiphene product page tags the drug "Premium Tier" and describes only two memberships, Basic ($25) and Premium ($155). Its newer help center lists clomiphene on Plus at $135. Its FAQ says certain medications may require a specific tier. That's a $240-a-year difference, so ask.13 14 17
- Refills need an active membership. Hone's FAQ says the membership bills monthly even in a month you skip medication, and an active membership is required to refill or adjust treatment. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period. Hone also says you'll never be charged for medication without your approval.17
- Availability varies by plan and state. Hone publishes state lists by plan in its help center. Check yours before paying.
The one thing we'd want to know before clicking
Hone doesn't sell the FDA-approved clomiphene tablet. Its product page uses "generic Clomid" wording near the top, but the warning box on that same page says the product is compounded and not approved by the FDA, and Hone's help center lists it as a compound. Treat it as compounded.13 14
If an FDA-approved tablet is your priority, ask your own clinician for generic clomiphene and shop the pharmacies above. That route pays us nothing, and for plenty of men it's the right one.
But here's why a lot of men choose Hone anyway. Its $45 first step comes with a physician consult and a lab kit that lists LH, estradiol, testosterone and two liver enzymes — useful baseline information a clinician can consider alongside your history, symptoms and other testing. You activate the $135 membership after that step, not before. And if you go ahead, the follow-up labs are already built in instead of billed one by one. Compare that with the $226 consumer hormone panel in the next section, which doesn't include LH at all.14 16
If that bundle fits what you want, see Hone's current plans and what the $45 first step includes →
Ask which membership tier your clomiphene prescription needs before you activate anything. Hone's current Plus page limits its extra confirmatory panel to TRT patients. A consult doesn't guarantee a prescription.
Male Excel: useful pricing, but not a clean clomiphene comparison
Male Excel's Triclozene product page lists a $99 one-time home hormone test and online consultation, $95 a month for Triclozene and a $99 a month Medical Membership. It says no contracts, and you can pause or cancel anytime.19 Its pricing page adds that medication is billed every other month, prices are plus shipping and handling, the price "may vary depending on your particular biochemistry and provider recommendation," and the membership "is required for treatment." Its pricing FAQ says its approach isn't covered by insurance.20
Credit where it's earned: Male Excel states plainly that its medication price doesn't include the required membership. Plenty of programs make you dig for that.20
The question to settle before paying: Male Excel's own pages don't agree on what's in Triclozene.
- The product page headline reads "Buy Enclomiphene Citrate for Men Online."19
- The pricing page calls it "Triclozene™ (Clomiphene Citrate with Thyroid)" and lists "Clomiphene Citrate (Generic Clomid), Thyroid, Selenomethionine."20
- The same pricing page shows Triclozene at $120 a month in one card and "starting at $95" in another.20
The conflict may be a versioning problem, but the public pages do not establish which molecule the current product actually contains. That means we cannot responsibly count Triclozene as a clomiphene option on this page until Male Excel confirms it. You're also paying for more than one substance, so get the ingredient list in writing. The thyroid part deserves its own question. Male Excel's safety information describes its thyroid medicine as desiccated thyroid, and the FDA has said animal-derived thyroid products aren't eligible for compounding. Male Excel's pages don't say which thyroid form is in Triclozene. That's a question to ask, not a finding against anyone.19 36
A few more cost details:
- Its starter test doesn't list LH. The at-home blood-spot kit measures testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, free T3 (a thyroid hormone) and PSA (a prostate marker).22 The next section explains why LH matters.
- State availability: Male Excel's FAQ, updated Sept. 7, 2026, says its providers prescribe in every state except Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.21
- Guarantee scope: its separate Excel Advantage guarantee can refund membership fees from the first 90 days if you meet its terms. It doesn't cover medication charges.23
Like the unlimited-access membership model? See Male Excel's current Triclozene pricing and program requirements →
Before paying, ask in writing: Is the main ingredient clomiphene or enclomiphene? Which thyroid form is in it, and is it optional? What does shipping cost?
Defy Medical: a manufactured tablet, but no public price
Defy Medical's store lists "Clomiphene Citrate 50mg tablets (Commercial)," separate from the compounded products in the same catalog, and names Empower Pharmacy. We didn't find a published price or a full care quote, so we can't calculate a year. If you want a clinic that lists a manufactured tablet, ask Defy for an itemized estimate.26

Billing cycles aren't calendar months
Male Excel bills medication in 60-day blocks and the membership monthly, so your card charges won't match from month to month. Six 60-day blocks cover 360 days, not 365.20 Some programs bill every 30 days, which works out to 13 charges in a year, not 12. Ask for the actual charge dates, not a monthly average.
For more provider detail, see Hone TRT cost, Male Excel cost and our best clomiphene providers comparison.
What lab tests may matter before clomiphene for low testosterone?
If clomiphene is being considered because of suspected testosterone deficiency, current guidance says the diagnosis should not come from symptoms, a quiz or one lab result. The Endocrine Society recommends symptoms or signs plus consistently low testosterone, confirmed with repeat early-morning fasting testing, and recommends LH and FSH to help distinguish the cause. Hone's $45 Plus starter kit includes LH; Male Excel's $99 home panel does not list it.14 22 29 30
Here's the chain in plain words:
Brain → LH signal → testicles → testosterone.
Clomiphene works by making that LH signal stronger. If LH is already high while testosterone is low, the testicles may not be responding well, and a stronger signal may not help much. One LH result doesn't settle it — a clinician reads it alongside your other results.29 30
The American Urological Association testosterone-deficiency guideline states:29
- Diagnose low testosterone only after two total testosterone tests on separate days, both early in the morning — Strong Recommendation, Evidence Grade A (Statement 2).
- The diagnosis also needs symptoms or signs alongside the numbers — Moderate Recommendation, Grade B (Statement 3).
- Measure LH in men with low testosterone — Strong Recommendation, Grade A (Statement 6).
- Measure prolactin when LH is low or low-normal — Strong Recommendation, Grade A (Statement 7).
- Symptom questionnaires are not recommended for deciding who's a candidate for treatment — Conditional Recommendation, Grade C (Statement 5).
Now compare that with what you can actually buy:

The surprise: the most complete men's hormone panel in Quest's consumer store costs $226 with the fee and doesn't test LH. Quest's consumer tests also can't be billed to insurance or submitted for reimbursement.27 28 "Not listed" on Male Excel's kit doesn't mean a clinician can't order LH. It means don't assume it's included.
A do-it-yourself cash baseline looks like this: two testosterone tests ($75 each with the fee) + a metabolic panel ($49) + a lipid panel ($59) = $258 before any added fees — and still no LH. If you have insurance, ask what your plan would charge for clinician-ordered testing before buying consumer panels. Quest's consumer panels also ask for 8 to 12 hours of fasting, with morning collection preferred.27 28
Later tests cost money too. The AUA says men on clomiphene should have testosterone rechecked no earlier than four weeks after starting.29 Hone Plus includes its scheduled follow-ups. Male Excel doesn't publish a follow-up schedule for Triclozene. With your own clinician, each round is billed on its own.
Two label checks worth asking about. Clomiphene's label lists liver disease or a history of liver dysfunction as a contraindication. It also recommends periodic triglyceride monitoring for people with a preexisting or family history of hyperlipidemia, rather than a universal triglyceride test for everyone.7 Ask how your clinician handles the label warnings that apply to you and whether any extra testing costs more.

Test results don't guarantee a prescription. That's the point of testing first.
Is clomiphene cheaper than TRT or enclomiphene?
Not always. On Hone's Plus plan, clomiphene is $38 a month, enclomiphene starts at $42, and injectable testosterone starts at $28 a vial, all on the same $135 membership. The bigger differences aren't about price: testosterone can suppress sperm production and is a controlled substance, and enclomiphene has no FDA-approved product.14 18
| Program | Clomiphene | Enclomiphene | Testosterone | Membership |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hone Plus | From $38/month | From $42/month | Injection from $28/vial; cream $60/month; troche $60/month | $135/month |
| Male Excel | Not counted here: public pages conflict on Triclozene's molecule | Product page currently says enclomiphene | Testosterone medications priced separately | $99/month |
| Taurus Meds | Not listed | $149/month, provider-stated as all inclusive | Offered | No separate membership fee stated |
*Provider pages checked Sept. 17, 2026. How long a testosterone vial lasts depends on the prescription.*14 18 20 24
Clomiphene vs. TRT: similar money, very different trade-off
Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance, meaning federal law adds extra prescribing rules. Testosterone taken from outside the body can lower sperm production. The AUA says testosterone therapy should not be prescribed to men currently trying to conceive — a Strong Recommendation, Evidence Grade A (Statement 23). It says clinicians may use medicines like clomiphene in men with testosterone deficiency who want to maintain fertility — a Conditional Recommendation, Grade C (Statement 27).29
"May," not "should." Grade C means lower-strength evidence. Nobody can promise that clomiphene will protect your fertility. If fertility matters, read our TRT and fertility guide and talk with a fertility-aware clinician before price decides anything. For TRT costs in general, see our TRT cost guide.
Clomiphene vs. enclomiphene: a $4 gap on Hone, a bigger gap in status
On Hone, enclomiphene starts just $4 a month higher than clomiphene.14 18 The cost difference is small. The regulatory one isn't: there's no FDA-approved enclomiphene product.38
If you've chosen enclomiphene on purpose: the Taurus price
Taurus Meds sells enclomiphene, not clomiphene. Its landing page lists a $49 blood test and consultation (shown marked down from $129) and says that, if approved, medications are $149 a month, "all inclusive. No membership fees." It says you'll be refunded if a clinician finds you're not eligible.24
At those numbers, a modeled year is $49 + 12 × $149 = $1,837 — less than the clomiphene program totals above, if $149 applies every month. The landing page doesn't say whether $149 requires a commitment, so ask.24
Two things to confirm first. Taurus's homepage advertises a "FREE testosterone test," while the landing page says $49. And the homepage lists "FDA-approved medications" above a menu that includes enclomiphene, which has no approved product. The landing page also repeats "weekly intramuscular injections" under its enclomiphene tile. Treat those as template text, and ask exactly which product and format you'd receive.24 25

This is a different drug from clomiphene. Confirm the exact product, format, pharmacy and any commitment before paying. More in our Taurus Meds enclomiphene guide and best enclomiphene providers comparison.
Does insurance cover clomiphene for men?
Sometimes. Coverage depends on the exact product, your plan and the reason it was prescribed. A drug appearing on a formulary does not prove that a man's off-label use will be covered, so the only reliable answer is a plan-specific check for your prescription.
GoodRx published plan-level Clomid coverage data from MMIT in 2025, but that dataset is too old to use as a current 2026 coverage estimate. We use it only as a reminder that formulary status and prior-authorization rules vary by plan.5
Prior authorization means your plan wants information from your clinician before it decides whether it will pay.
Medicare
Medicare's Part D rules cover a drug only for a "medically accepted indication" — an FDA-approved use, or a use supported by recognized drug references — and Part D excludes drugs used to promote fertility.31 Clomiphene has no FDA-approved use in men, so coverage depends on whether the prescribed use meets Part D's rules and the specific plan's coverage criteria. Cosette's Clomid savings card can't be used with Medicare or Medicaid.10
Medicaid
Federal law lets states exclude or restrict drugs used to promote fertility.32 Rules vary by state and plan. Check the current state Medicaid formulary and any prior-authorization criteria for the exact prescription.
What to ask your plan
Copy this:
"Is this exact clomiphene product covered for my clinician's documented diagnosis? Does it need prior authorization? What will I pay at this pharmacy? Are my visits and lab tests covered separately? If it's denied, what's the written reason, and how do I appeal?"
Two rules to know:
- Discount cards and insurance are separate. WellRx and SingleCare both say their cards can't be combined with insurance.1 4 Compare the two prices side by side. Ask your plan whether a cash purchase counts toward your deductible — don't assume it does.
- Never ask anyone to change a diagnosis or billing code to get coverage. If your plan says no, the honest options are an appeal, a cash price or a different care route.
What the cash-pay programs say: Male Excel's pricing page says its approach "is not covered by insurance."20 Hone runs a cash-pay membership.15 Taurus says its treatments and testing are often not covered easily, so it charges a cash price.24
If you're insured, price your own clinician first. See TRT providers that take insurance.
Can you use an HSA or FSA for clomiphene?
Often, yes for the prescription and other qualified medical expenses. IRS guidance says prescribed medicines and qualifying diagnosis or treatment expenses can be paid or reimbursed through an HSA or FSA, but a broad membership charge may need a closer look. Keep the itemized receipt and ask the plan administrator about any bundled fee.33
An HSA is a health savings account. An FSA is a flexible spending arrangement. Both can provide tax advantages for eligible health expenses, but the rules are not simply "every health-related charge qualifies."
Two limits:
- The IRS says medicine bought from another country is generally not a qualified medical expense unless it was legally imported under an applicable exception.33
- Male Excel labels treatment plans FSA/HSA eligible, Hone labels its biomarker test FSA/HSA eligible, and Quest says it accepts HSA/FSA cards.13 20 27 Those are seller statements; your plan administrator controls reimbursement under your account.
More in our guide to TRT providers that accept HSA or FSA.

How can you pay less for clomiphene without cutting corners?
Price your exact prescription at several pharmacies in your ZIP code, check whether the lowest price needs a paid membership, ask about fill size and the manufacturer card, and get lab tests through insurance if you have it. Never buy clomiphene without a prescription.
- Get your exact prescription details: strength, tablet count and days supply.
- Price it on at least two discount sites in your ZIP code. Note which prices need a membership.
- Do the membership math before joining any discount program. GoodRx Companion is $14.99 monthly or $119.88 for an annual membership as of September 2026.3
- Ask the pharmacy for the refill price, not just the first fill.
- Ask your prescriber whether a 90-day fill makes sense. It needs a new prescription and a new price check.
- If the generic is out of stock, ask about a different manufacturer before paying brand price. If brand is the only option, ask about Cosette's card and what "per pack" means.
- If you're insured, have your own clinician order the lab tests.
- Get every program quote in writing using the quote card above. A blank line is unpriced, not free.
- Use HSA or FSA money where your administrator confirms it qualifies.
- Skip no-prescription and "research chemical" sellers. They aren't a legal patient route, you can't verify what's inside, and imported medicines generally don't count for tax purposes.33
If you only ask two questions, ask these:
- "What will I pay in total over the next 12 months?"
- "Does my first blood test include LH?"
Those two cover most of what decides whether a quote is a good deal.
Who shouldn't shop for clomiphene on price alone?
Men trying to conceive now, men with high LH and confirmed low testosterone, men with liver disease, and tested athletes or service members need a clinician's input before a price comparison. Price matters, but only after the route is right.
- Trying to conceive now. The AUA says men interested in fertility should have a reproductive health evaluation before treatment (Moderate Recommendation, Grade B, Statement 10).29 Start with a reproductive urologist or fertility-aware clinician. See best TRT providers for fertility.
- High LH with confirmed low testosterone, or a possible pituitary or testicular problem. Have the cause evaluated before choosing a treatment.29 30
- Liver disease or a history of liver problems. The label lists it as a reason not to take clomiphene.7
- Tested athletes. Clomiphene is prohibited under World Anti-Doping Agency rules. USADA says a prescription alone isn't permission; the therapeutic use exemption process applies.37
- Service members. Talk to your military health care provider first. Operation Supplement Safety covers clomiphene and enclomiphene guidance.38
- A complex endocrine, fertility, liver, eye or other medical history that changes the diagnosis or safety question. Use a clinician who can evaluate the underlying issue instead of letting the lowest advertised price choose the care route.
If vision symptoms occur — such as blurring, spots or flashes — the FDA-approved label says treatment should be discontinued and a complete eye evaluation performed. Sudden vision loss or another emergency symptom needs urgent medical care.7

Why do clomiphene prices online disagree so much?
Price sites show different numbers because of location, date, brand versus generic, tablet count and paid memberships. Company pages can also fall out of date. Here are the conflicting figures we logged and what most likely explains each.
| Where we saw it | What it says | What's likely going on |
|---|---|---|
| GoodRx pricing page | Generic "as low as $40.58" | A national headline; the pharmacy list showed $38.18 with Companion and $153.57 without2 |
| GoodRx brand selector | Clomid "as low as $156.00" | Brand, not generic; a headline, not matched to your pharmacy6 |
| GoodRx cost guide | Generic "as low as $173.41"; brand Clomid averages $530.37 | Different page, date and product5 |
| SingleCare | Quantity set to 15; "match" line says 5 tablets | One page, two units — confirm the count first4 |
| Klarity | No manufacturer copay cards exist | Cosette publishes a Clomid savings card10 40 |
| Hims drug page (Aug. 2025) | Generic about $300 a month; coupons to about $65 | No tablet count or pharmacy given39 |
| Cost Plus Drugs launch post (Oct. 2023) | Brand Clomid $129.78 for 30 tablets | Launch price; today's price shows at checkout11 |
| Hone | "Premium Tier" tag vs. clomiphene listed on Plus | Product page vs. newer help center13 14 |
| Male Excel | $95 vs. $120; clomiphene vs. enclomiphene | Two cards on one page; two pages updated 15 months apart19 20 |
| Taurus Meds | "FREE testosterone test" vs. $49 | Homepage vs. landing page24 25 |
Most of this is ordinary: different locations, different days, different quantities, pages nobody has updated. The fix is always the same. Price your exact prescription, in your ZIP code, on the day you fill it.
How we checked these prices
We read the pharmacy-price, manufacturer, lab, insurance and provider pages ourselves on Sept. 16–17, 2026, plus two provider pages on Sept. 8, and did the math from their published numbers. We didn't fill a prescription, redeem a coupon, open an account or file an insurance claim. Where a price wasn't public, we say so instead of guessing.
Our documented method is How We Review TRT Providers. It separates verified facts, provider-stated facts, customer-experience signals and our own conclusions, and it calculates complete cost instead of repeating a teaser price. We don't assign medical scores. As the independent decision resource for testosterone replacement therapy care, TRT Provider Guide publishes the gaps along with the numbers.
What we actually verified
Checked: September 16–17, 2026 (Male Excel's guarantee terms and Defy's listing on September 8, 2026).
From primary sources: FDA-approved clomiphene strengths and pack sizes, the approved use, the liver warning, the triglyceride precaution and the vision warning (DailyMed); Cosette's savings-card terms (the card document); Medicare Part D coverage rules (CMS); state authority to exclude fertility drugs (HHS); how prescribed medicines count as medical expenses (IRS Publication 502); AUA guideline statements and grades; the FDA's positions on compounded drugs and animal-derived thyroid products.
From company pages (their numbers, dated): WellRx, GoodRx and SingleCare pharmacy prices; GoodRx Companion pricing; Quest's consumer lab prices and panel contents; Hone's plan prices, starter kit, lab schedule, billing, cancellation and refill rules; Male Excel's prices, wording, test contents, state exclusions and guarantee scope; Taurus Meds' prices and refund statement; Defy's commercial-tablet listing.
Our own work: every year-one total and pharmacy-year model on this page.
Provider-stated, not our conclusion: "FSA/HSA eligible" labels; any "from" or "starting at" price; Taurus's refund and guarantee terms.
Could not confirm — ask before you pay: the location behind GoodRx's list; Cost Plus Drugs' current Clomid checkout price; what Cosette's "per pack" price means for your exact fill; which Hone tier your clomiphene prescription requires; Male Excel's current Triclozene molecule and thyroid form; whether Taurus's $149 enclomiphene price has any commitment not shown on the page; a standalone consumer LH test price; whether a bundled membership fee is HSA/FSA-eligible for you; and which pharmacy would fill your order.
What we earn: Hone Health, Male Excel and Taurus Meds may pay us. Pharmacies, GoodRx, WellRx, SingleCare, Cost Plus, Cosette, Quest and Defy don't.

Frequently asked questions
How much is clomiphene per month for men? It depends on your prescription and how you pay. Thirty generic 50 mg tablets ran about $154 to $400 across the discount lists we checked in September 2026, but 30 tablets isn't automatically a month. Hone's published clomiphene price starts at $38 a month plus either a $135 or $155 membership depending on which tier applies.
Why is clomiphene so expensive at my pharmacy? Cash prices vary a lot between pharmacies and between discount cards. Near The Woodlands, Texas, the same 30 tablets ranged from $153.57 to $366.00 on one card. Try at least two cards and several pharmacies in your ZIP code, and ask for the refill price too.
Is generic clomiphene cheaper than Clomid? Usually. GoodRx's cost guide put brand Clomid's average at $530.37 for 30 tablets without insurance. Cosette's savings card can bring brand Clomid to $135 per pack for cash payers, which may compete with generic at some pharmacies. Price both for your exact quantity.
Can I use GoodRx or another discount card for clomiphene? Yes, with a valid prescription. Check whether the lowest price needs a paid membership like GoodRx Companion ($14.99 a month). Discount cards can't be combined with insurance, so compare the card price and your insurance price separately.
Is there a savings card for brand Clomid? Yes. Cosette's Clomid Pharmacy Savings Card lists $70 per pack for commercially insured patients with coverage and $135 per pack for uncovered or cash-paying patients. It can't be used with Medicare, Medicaid or other government programs. Ask your pharmacist what "per pack" means for your fill.
Does insurance cover clomiphene for men? Sometimes, but don't count on it. Most commercial plans list Clomid, usually for women's fertility use. A man's use is off-label, so plans may deny it or require prior authorization. Ask your plan whether it's covered for your documented diagnosis.
Does Medicare cover clomiphene? It depends on the prescribed use and the plan. Medicare Part D covers drugs only for medically accepted indications and excludes drugs when used to promote fertility. Clomiphene has no FDA-approved use in men, and Cosette's savings card cannot be used with Medicare. Ask the Part D plan to check the exact prescription and indication.
Is compounded clomiphene cheaper? Sometimes, per pill. A 2024 conference abstract found compounded clomiphene averaged $2.21 to $2.60 per pill. But compounded drugs aren't FDA-approved, and online programs that sell it add membership fees. Hone's $38-a-month clomiphene comes with a $135 or $155 monthly membership.
Is clomiphene cheaper than TRT? Not necessarily. Hone lists injectable testosterone from $28 a vial and clomiphene from $38 a month before the membership fee. They are not interchangeable treatments: testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance and can suppress sperm production, while clomiphene is a non-testosterone drug prescribed off-label to men. The care decision should come before the price comparison.
Can I buy clomiphene without a prescription? No, and please don't try. Clomiphene is a prescription drug. Sites selling it without one, or labeling it a "research chemical," aren't a legal patient route, and you can't know what you're getting. Imported medicines also generally don't count as medical expenses for tax purposes.
How long will I pay for clomiphene? No price page can tell you that. It depends on why you're taking it, how you respond and what your clinician recommends. The AUA says testosterone should be rechecked no earlier than four weeks after starting clomiphene. Ask your prescriber how they'll decide whether to continue.
Still not sure which TRT care route fits you? Use our free Find My TRT Path tool.
Find My TRT Path is educational. It doesn't diagnose, determine eligibility or guarantee a prescription.
Educational information, not medical advice. This page has not been clinically reviewed. Clomiphene is a prescription medicine, and its use in men is off-label. Whether it's right for you, and how it's monitored, is a decision for you and a licensed clinician who has reviewed your history and lab results. If you have sudden vision changes, chest pain, severe abdominal pain or another urgent symptom, seek urgent or emergency care instead of waiting for a message.
