Helix MWR Cost: What $525 a Month Really Adds Up To in 2026

Helix MWR cost is advertised at $525 a month, or $325 for accepted Black Card members. Twelve monthly payments total $6,300 or $3,900, but conflicting setup and concierge fees leave your full bill unresolved. Get a written quote that also confirms whether a 60-day commitment and its $700 early-exit fee apply.

A price that high deserves a clear fee list. So the real question isn't "how much is Helix?" It's "what am I buying with the extra money, and which of Helix's fees will actually hit my card?" We read Helix's public pricing pages and its full contract to answer both.

Best for: A man whose low testosterone has already been properly diagnosed, whose address Helix serves, and who will happily pay a premium for Helix's advertised in-home hormone blood draws and refill coordination.

Not for you if: Price matters, you want insurance to pay, you want an FDA-approved testosterone product, you want to leave anytime without a fee, or you want children soon.

Which "Helix" did you mean?

  • Helix MWR (Helix Mobile Wellness and Research, helixmwr.com) is an in-home hormone service. It's the $525-a-month company. This page covers it.
  • Helix HRT is a label still shown on Talon Wellness's website, a Nevada online clinic that advertises men's TRT from $65 a month as a dose-based estimate. → Talon Wellness TRT cost
  • Other businesses, including a weight-loss medication seller, also use "Helix." Check the website address before you compare prices.

Is Helix's price even your question yet?

You can research Helix's price before diagnosis. Three quick checks help you see which care questions to resolve before paying for treatment.

Check each box that's true for you:

  • ☐ A clinician has confirmed low testosterone from symptoms or signs plus consistently low results on repeat early-morning blood tests. Or I'm already on TRT under a clinician's care.
  • ☐ I have discussed current or future fertility plans with a clinician before starting testosterone.
  • ☐ Helix has confirmed service at my address.

All three? Keep going. The math below helps you compare the bill; these checks do not establish treatment eligibility.

Missed one? You can still use the prices to plan. Resolve the care or location question before you pay.

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool as an educational starting point for comparing online programs — then take the questions below to a clinician before you pay.

How much does Helix MWR cost per month?

Helix MWR advertises $525 a month at its standard rate and $325 a month for accepted Black Card members. Helix says the price covers testosterone, several other bundled treatments, hormone blood tests, practitioner consults, delivery and a personal concierge. Add-on programs cost extra, and the terms allow other authorized charges.

Helix doesn't hide that it's expensive. Its homepage says it plainly: it does not compete on price.

Here's what Helix says your $525 buys, from its men's program page and Services page:

Compounded testosterone Helix lists in the men's bundle

  • Testosterone injections, compounded in MCT oil

Other treatments Helix lists in the men's bundle — not TRT

  • Oral sermorelin, as advertised by Helix; this is distinct from direct growth hormone
  • Gonadorelin
  • Enclomiphene (Helix's FAQ names clomiphene instead; more on that below)
  • Pregnenolone
  • "Holistic estrogen blockers"
  • "Microdose Cialis"
  • Oxytocin
  • A sleep and "mitochondrial" therapy

Services Helix lists as included

  • Hormone blood tests
  • All practitioner consults
  • Medication delivery
  • In-home ("mobile") visits for blood draws and physicals
  • Same-day appointments and weekend concierge
  • An assigned personal assistant who coordinates your care

Three catches on "everything included"

  1. Labs are included only through Helix's own services. Helix's FAQ says bloodwork is included "provided you use our internal services." Outside labs may be a different story.
  2. A bundle isn't a promise. Helix says prescriptions aren't guaranteed and that its practitioners decide what you get. You may not receive every item on the list.
  3. Most of that list isn't standard TRT. Testosterone treats diagnosed low testosterone. The other items are separate treatments with their own reasons, risks and evidence. Ask what each contains, why it is being proposed, and whether the exact product is FDA-approved, compounded or otherwise unapproved; an approved drug can also be prescribed off-label, for a use outside its approved label.

About the clomiphene and enclomiphene mix-up: Helix's Services page lists enclomiphene. Its FAQ says men "usually receive" clomiphene. These are different drugs. Neither is testosterone, and neither is interchangeable with TRT. Clomiphene tablets are FDA-approved for ovulatory dysfunction in women seeking pregnancy; use for adult male testosterone deficiency is off-label. Enclomiphene has no FDA-approved standalone product, as described in FDA's review and a 2026 specialty position statement. Ask which one, if either, you'd be prescribed. Our guide to enclomiphene vs. TRT explains the difference.

How do labs, repeat testing and refills work?

Helix describes a home blood draw, a hormone report in its app in about eight days, and an at-home physical plus a remote consult. That is its published process, not a turnaround time we tested. Its men's program page names total and free testosterone among the panel items.

The reviewed pages do not establish a fixed monitoring schedule or clearly promise that every quoted price includes a second early-morning testosterone test before diagnosis. Ask who orders that repeat test, whether it must be fasting, which follow-up tests are included and what outside testing would cost. Our TRT blood-test guide explains the testing questions to take to a clinician.

Helix says its concierge coordinates refills, but we found no guaranteed refill or delivery window. Its terms, §4, allow services to be paused or ended if required monitoring is not completed. Ask what happens to medication access and billing if a lab review, prescription or shipment is delayed.

What fees aren't in the $525?

Helix's booking text says "no extra fees," while its appointment page lists a $150 setup fee. Its Terms of Service list a $1,000 setup fee, a $450 monthly concierge fee and a $700 early-termination fee during an applicable commitment. The ledger below lines up the published fees so you can see where the documents disagree.

If you saw $525 and stopped reading, here's the rest. The price picture is spread across several pages and a contract with 17 sections.

Listed add-ons carry one-time setup fees of $50 to $450 Services Oct 19, 2026 "What's the setup fee for anything I add?"

Our read: We're not saying Helix is hiding fees on purpose. The pages present different fees, and the contract says charges can vary by state, clinician and services. The contract is not a complete price list either: it permits additional charges without pricing each one. Get your fee list in writing before booking or authorizing work. Under Helix's terms, the first blood draw can be the moment your billing starts.

Which setup fee is the "real" one?

We can't tell you, and we won't guess. Here's what the pages show:

  • The booking pop-up says no extra fees.
  • The appointment page says $150.
  • The contract says $1,000.
  • Helix's FAQ and About page say some Black Card groups get "no setup fee"; that does not establish a waiver for everyone.

Don't budget for a waived fee unless Helix confirms it for you in writing.

Is the $450 concierge fee on top of the $525?

Don't assume so. The contract describes a $450 monthly concierge fee for "care coordination and concierge support." In another paragraph, it says active patients pay a recurring fee "beginning at $325." Neither number matches $525. They may describe the same charge in different ways.

Our math never adds $450 to $525. Ask Helix: "What are my exact recurring charges, what does each cover, and do any of these figures describe the same charge?"

What will Helix MWR cost for a full year?

Twelve payments at Helix's advertised rates total $6,300 standard or $3,900 Black Card. Those are recurring-fee subtotals. Your quote must establish setup, concierge and separate clinical charges before a complete first-year cost can be calculated.

These are our calculations. Each row assumes 12 monthly charges with no price changes and counts each charge once. The rows that combine fees are usable only if your written quote confirms those charges together; they are not confirmed plans or a minimum-to-maximum treatment price range.

Conditional year-one scenarios from Helix's published prices

Helix MWR cost table 3: Conditional year-one scenarios from Helix's published prices
Assumed charges Math Conditional subtotal
Standard recurring rate only; a setup waiver is not assumed 12 × $525 $6,300, before setup and any separate charges
If confirmed together: standard rate + $150 setup from appointment page $150 + 12 × $525 $6,450
If confirmed together: standard rate + $1,000 setup from terms $1,000 + 12 × $525 $7,300
If accepted and the setup waiver is confirmed: Black Card 12 × $325 $3,900
If confirmed together: Black Card + $1,000 setup $1,000 + 12 × $325 $4,900
Terms' same-clause figures, if applicable: $1,000 setup + $450 monthly concierge $1,000 + 12 × $450 $6,400, before separately authorized clinical charges
If all confirmed together: standard + $1,000 setup + sermorelin injections ("Velocity") + gonadorelin injections $7,300 + $1,860 + ($150 or $320 setup) + $1,240 $10,550 or $10,720

Not included in these numbers: any medication, lab, visit or test Helix bills separately; other add-ons not shown in a row; any applicable taxes. Helix markets a bundle, while its terms allow separate clinical charges. Your written quote must identify which charges apply.

Cash for two monthly payments at the standard rate is $1,050 before any confirmed setup or separate charges. That does not establish the cost of completing the 60-day commitment: billing and the commitment can begin on different dates.

Your Helix quote worksheet

Ask Helix for a written quote, then fill this in. A blank line is not $0. If a required charge has no answer yet, your total isn't finished.

Helix MWR cost table 4: Your Helix quote worksheet
Line item Amount Times per year Included, extra or unknown?
Setup fee $
Monthly membership or concierge fee $ 12
Any extra monthly fee (check that it isn't the same charge) $
First labs, including any repeat morning test $

In-home visits and phone consults $
Testosterone (exact product and pharmacy) $
Other prescribed medications $
Add-on monthly fees $
Add-on setup fees $
Delivery and supplies $
Any applicable taxes $

Separate exit calculation: If you may cancel during an applicable commitment, record the quoted early-termination fee, the term's start and end dates, and any charges already incurred. Do not add that fee to a full-year stay unless it would actually apply.

How do you get the $325 Black Card price?

Helix calls Black Card "strictly invite-only," but its own pages tell anyone how to ask: book an appointment and type "Black Card" in the promo box. Helix says some groups qualify automatically with no setup fee; for an accepted member, the advertised rate difference is $200 a month, or $2,400 over 12 unchanged monthly payments.

That is a $2,400 difference over 12 unchanged monthly payments. It's worth asking about even if nobody invited you.

Who Helix says qualifies automatically

According to Helix's FAQ and About page, these patients automatically qualify for Black Card with no setup fee:

  • People with autoimmune disorders or HIV
  • Transgender and gender-fluid patients age 28 and older
  • Active and retired military
  • Firefighters, police and first responders
  • Clergy
  • Gun-store owners and firearm instructors
  • People with a "vaccine injury"
  • People with paralysis or head injuries (listed on the About page)

If you're in one of these groups, tell Helix's concierge before you book.

A discount category is not medical eligibility. The low-testosterone diagnostic guidance here concerns adult-male hypogonadism; gender-affirming hormone care requires a separate clinical assessment.

Who else gets in

Helix says it mainly sends invitations to founders, CEOs, partners and business owners. Current members can invite others. Helix also says it sometimes opens spots in a market through social-media ads.

Its membership page also says it favors clients who are courteous to staff, rarely dispute card charges and don't haggle over price.

A word on "limited spots"

Helix says Black Card bookings can be rejected once a market's spots fill. That's Helix's own marketing. There's no public count of spots, and we found nothing that tells you how many remain. Don't let "limited" rush you past reading the fee list.

Still ask: Does Black Card waive the setup fee for you? Helix only promises the waiver for the automatic groups. The reviewed pages do not establish a setup waiver for every invited member.

Read Helix's Black Card terms on its membership page →

How much do Helix add-ons cost?

Each add-on listed on Helix's Services page has its own monthly price and a one-time setup fee between $50 and $450. Sermorelin injection programs run $155 to $300 a month, and direct growth hormone runs $375 a month. Helix says every add-on requires a practitioner's prescription.

Only budget for these if a clinician prescribes one and you decide you want it. None of them is TRT.

B12 injections $80 $100 $1,060
Sildenafil/tadalafil troches (dissolving lozenges), standard $35 $50 $470
Sildenafil/tadalafil troches (dissolving lozenges), double $90 $100 $1,180
Trimix or Bimix injections $175 $200 $2,300

Helix lists the two sermorelin setup fees as "$150 or $320" without saying which goes with which tier. Ask.

Source: Helix Services, add-on section.

Two add-ons need extra care

Growth hormone (Omnitrope). Omnitrope is an FDA-approved brand of somatropin, which is manufactured human growth hormone. In adults, its U.S. label covers growth hormone deficiency, a specific diagnosed condition. It is not FDA-approved for anti-aging. Ask what diagnosis your clinician would document before you budget the $4,950 first-year program subtotal.

Gonadorelin and "fertility support." Helix markets gonadorelin and enclomiphene under "testicular restoration" and "male fertility support." Its own contract says it does not guarantee your fertility will be preserved. If children are in your plans, see a urologist or reproductive urologist before starting testosterone with any provider. Separate cost guides cover hCG and sermorelin; hCG is a different medicine from gonadorelin.

What does the extra money actually buy?

Helix markets its premium around home visits and care coordination. It says a staffer comes to your home for blood draws, a personal assistant coordinates labs and refills, and a practitioner examines you in person. Its advertised testosterone is compounded; the price does not establish better clinical results.

Here's the honest trade.

Helix does not compete on price. It says so itself. If keeping costs down is your priority, the Male Excel and Hone starting-cost models below are lower. For its advertised membership fee, Helix says it sends staff for included hormone blood draws and assigns someone to coordinate refills. If avoiding lab trips and handling less coordination is worth the difference between your written quotes, that's a real trade.

What Helix's model advertises that the online plans below don't

  1. In-home hormone blood draws. The online plans below use at-home kits or lab testing. Helix says it sends a staffer to your home or office; confirm which tests it can handle at your address.
  2. A human who handles the logistics. Helix assigns a personal assistant who books your draws, consults and refills, including on weekends. Its contract adds that concierge staff give no medical advice; your practitioner makes the care decisions.
  3. An in-person exam model. Helix says every testosterone patient is seen in person by a DEA-registered practitioner. That is worth asking about when you discuss care after 2026 (see the telemedicine-deadline section below).

What the premium does not buy

  1. An FDA-approved testosterone product in the advertised bundle. Helix lists compounded testosterone.
  2. A guaranteed physician as your regular prescriber. Helix's About page lists nurse practitioners in most markets and, in California, one naturopathic doctor and one nurse practitioner. An MD and DO are named as medical directors and/or supervising physicians.
  3. An easy exit. The published terms describe an applicable 60-day commitment, and billing keeps going until Helix processes your cancellation.

Quick gut check: Would you pay the premium in your written quote for Helix's advertised home draws and coordination?

  • Yes, easily. Helix's service model may fit what you value. Get your fee list and confirm your care needs, then book.
  • No, not for that much. Skip ahead to "Why is Helix so much more expensive than online TRT?" Male Excel and Hone publish lower starting-cost models for TRT.

Does in-home care sound worth it for your situation? Request a Helix mobile appointment → Before booking or authorizing work, ask Helix to email your setup fee, your exact recurring charges and the cancellation terms. If you want the $325 rate, type "Black Card" in the promo box.

What does it cost to cancel Helix MWR?

Any applicable 60-day commitment in Helix's terms starts on the later of medication receipt or completion of required Helix bloodwork. Cancel during that window and the terms set a $700 early-termination fee. Recurring billing continues until cancellation is properly submitted and processed.

This is the section to read twice.

When Helix starts billing you

Under Helix's Terms, §8, you become an "Active Patient" at the earliest of these:

  • You finish a consult with a practitioner
  • Helix completes or coordinates lab testing for you
  • You're prescribed, sent or given any medication

Once you're active, the monthly charge keeps going, even if you stop scheduling visits or stop answering messages. Not using Helix is not the same as canceling Helix.

Elsewhere in the same section, Helix ties monthly-fee activation to completed onboarding confirmed by its concierge, and another paragraph mentions account activation plus receiving or scheduling clinical services. Ask for your first billing date and commitment dates in writing; do not assume they start together.

How to cancel, step by step

  1. Email billing@helixbayarea.com with your full name and account number. (Helix also says it may offer cancellation in its app.)
  2. Wait for confirmation. If none arrives within 2 business days, email customerservice@helixbayarea.com or call (888) 303-5030.
  3. Save the confirmation. Helix's terms say you're responsible for keeping written proof.
  4. Check your next statement. Cancellation only stops future charges. Its terms generally exclude refunds for nonuse of an active account, except where law requires otherwise.

What the terms generally make nonrefundable

Subject to exceptions required by law:

  • The setup fee described in §8, once processed
  • Services already provided, clinician time and lab tests
  • Medications and supplies already dispensed

Can you get your records if you leave?

Helix says clinician notes and blood-test results are available in its app. Its privacy notice, Appendix C, says you can request an electronic or paper copy of your medical record, usually within 30 days, with a possible cost-based copying fee.

Ask how to keep your lab results and prescribing history when the account closes, and how to transfer them to your next clinician. The notice directs privacy requests to customerservice@helixbayarea.com, with Attn: Privacy Officer in the subject line. For HIPAA-covered providers, HHS says access cannot be denied because a health-care bill is unpaid.

What leaving costs at different points

Helix MWR cost table 6: What leaving costs at different points
Assumed payments, if these charges are confirmed together Standard recurring fee only Standard + $150 setup Standard + $1,000 setup Black Card, setup waived
1 monthly charge plus an applicable $700 early-exit fee $525 + $700 = $1,225 $1,375 $2,225 $325 + $700 = $1,025
2 monthly charges; commitment status must be checked separately $1,050 $1,200 $2,050 $650
6 monthly charges $3,150 $3,300 $4,150 $1,950
12 monthly charges $6,300 $6,450 $7,300 $3,900

Our math from Helix's published prices. Only the first row adds an early-exit fee; the other rows do not establish that cancellation is free. The recurring-fee-only column leaves setup unresolved, and all columns exclude separately billed clinical charges. Ask Helix for its exact exit figure and dates.

What the arbitration clause says, and how to opt out

Helix's contract generally calls for individual JAMS arbitration and a class-action waiver, with exceptions including eligible small-claims cases. It names Cheyenne, Wyoming, subject to JAMS rules and applicable requirements. Its stated liability cap is the greater of $1,000 or payments for the services giving rise to the claim during the 12 months before the event; the terms note that some limits may not apply in some jurisdictions.

Here's a useful detail most people miss: you can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting the terms. Email customerservice@helixbayarea.com with your name, email and a statement that you want to opt out. Follow up if no confirmation arrives, and keep the confirmation.

If a no-contract setup matters to you, see our list of TRT providers with no contract.

Does Helix take insurance, HSA or FSA?

Helix says it does not take insurance. It says it accepts HSA and FSA funds when the account is tied to a personal credit card and can send an eligibility letter after a qualifying consult. Whether each charge qualifies depends on applicable tax and plan rules, not card acceptance alone.

A few things to know:

  • Card acceptance isn't the same as eligibility. A charge must meet the applicable qualified-medical-expense rules. Keep Helix's itemized bills and the eligibility letter, and ask your administrator or tax adviser about the specific charges.
  • If you have insurance that covers TRT, check that route before paying cash for Helix. An in-network clinician plus a covered prescription may cost less, depending on your benefits, deductible and copays. See TRT providers that take insurance and online vs. local TRT.
  • One odd signal. Some complaints on the BBB profile describe insurance billing, while Helix MWR's current pages say it doesn't take insurance. BBB itself warns that Helix MWR is separate from Helix VM and Helix Urgent Care. We could not establish that those insurance complaints concern this hormone service. If you see an unfamiliar claim, ask the billing business and your insurer which service it covers.

Why is Helix so much more expensive than online TRT?

Helix advertises home visits, an assigned coordinator and several bundled treatments. The online plans below use home kits or lab testing and remote consultations. Their published starting-cost models are lower, but the price gap does not establish equivalent treatment or how each company sets its fees.

We compared Helix with two online programs that publish their prices. Both are programs we have an affiliate relationship with. We picked them because their published prices support a starting-cost model with visible assumptions. The figures come straight from their own pages.

Confirm access to Hone Plus: Its current help pages describe Plus, while its public injection page promotes Basic and Premium. Confirm that Plus is open to new patients in your state before using the $135 model to choose care.

Helix entries come from its booking selector and mean selected-city service, not every address. Male Excel entries come from its FAQ's list of 11 excluded states. Hone entries come from its Plus state-availability list. A check mark reflects the provider's published coverage, not confirmed appointment or clinician availability for you.

If you're in New York, New Jersey or DC, Hone's current list does not include Plus there. Male Excel lists New York and New Jersey; confirm DC with Male Excel, or look for a local clinic. Hone lists New York for a different plan, Premium, so Plus's exclusions do not apply to every Hone plan.

Helix vs. Male Excel

Male Excel's published starting subtotal is $2,727 before shipping and any other charges, using six medication bills. It advertises no contract, a dedicated provider and check-ins every 60 days. Helix advertises home visits.

Male Excel's $99 start fee covers an at-home lab test and a provider consultation. Membership is $99 a month, and its starting injection bundle is $120 a month, billed as $240 every other month plus shipping. That bundle includes thyroid tablets. Ask why thyroid medication would be right for you.

Male Excel names its medical leadership on its specialists page: Chief Medical Officer Peter Fotinos, MD, and Medical Director Lorna Brudie, DO. It describes its testosterone as compounded in the U.S. It doesn't accept insurance, but it says treatment is HSA and FSA eligible. Its FAQ lists service in every state except Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Helix vs. Hone Health Plus

Hone Plus includes scheduled follow-up labs and consults in its $135 monthly membership. The $2,046–$2,051 illustration here assumes 12 vials and a paid at-lab confirmation test, so it is not a complete quote or a guaranteed lowest bill. Plus does not advertise Helix-style mobile blood draws.

Hone starts with a $45 at-home test (eight markers), then a live video visit with a physician. TRT patients add a confirmation test that includes a second total testosterone reading plus hematocrit, PSA and prolactin. The Plus membership page lists $45 at a lab, while the Plus TRT lab schedule lists $50; both list $80 at home. The membership page prices testosterone cypionate injections from $28 a vial. Medication is billed separately from membership. Hone's injection product page describes a $28 monthly starting price and labels that product compounded and not FDA-approved. Neither price statement establishes your vial count or annual prescription cost; confirm the exact product and pharmacy.

With a paid at-lab confirmation test, the $45 initial test plus that confirmation and 12 membership payments totals $1,710–$1,715 before medication; at-home confirmation makes that $1,745 before medication. Hone's retesting page also says clinically necessary retesting is provided without extra cost, so ask which test charge or waiver applies to you. Its cancellation policy says membership and pending medication orders need separate cancellation, with no partial-month membership refund and no refund once medication processing or shipping has begun.

If scheduled follow-up labs in one membership price is what you want, read Hone Plus's published pricing → and check its state list. Confirm that Plus is open to new patients before paying.

Other ways to skip the lab line

Helix isn't the only route to at-home testing. See TRT providers with at-home blood tests and finding a TRT clinic near you.

Will Helix's model still work after the 2026 telemedicine deadline?

Temporary federal rules allow qualifying DEA-registered practitioners to prescribe testosterone by audio-video telemedicine without a prior in-person exam through December 31, 2026. Helix says its testosterone patients receive an in-person home exam, but that statement alone does not establish the legal basis for each prescription or guarantee care in 2027. Ask any provider for its continuity plan.

Here's the background in plain words.

Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance. That's the federal category for drugs with real medical uses and some potential for misuse (DEA). Federal law generally requires an in-person medical evaluation before prescribing a controlled substance online, with defined exceptions. Since 2020, temporary rules have allowed qualifying telemedicine prescribing without that prior exam. A valid prescription, a legitimate medical purpose and compliance with federal and applicable state rules are still required. The current extension ends December 31, 2026 (HHS). The DEA has proposed a permanent "special registration" system for telemedicine prescribing. As of October 19, 2026, the official regulatory agenda still listed a future final action; an agenda date is not a final rule.

What this means for you:

  • Helix: Its FAQ says patients receiving testosterone are seen in person, in their homes, by a DEA-registered practitioner. Ask who conducts that exam, who issues the prescription and what legal pathway applies if they are different people. A home-visit claim does not by itself confirm continued prescribing after the extension ends.
  • Online programs: Their options depend on the rules in force, their prescribing model and your state. Ask whether an in-person step may be needed and how they would arrange it for new or existing patients.
  • Either way, ask any provider: "What happens to my prescription on January 1, 2027?"

Is Helix MWR legit?

BBB lists Helix's business start in 2015 and a 4.07 average from 44 customer reviews, while Helix publishes practitioner names and a detailed contract. BBB also gives it an "F" rating and lists six unanswered complaints, though some complaint identities are uncertain. Read the contract and verify your prescriber before you pay.

What members praise

"Helix is reliable, responsive, and efficient." — Joshua B, BBB customer review, September 5, 2026

Positive reviews tend to praise the convenience: the app, the in-home draws and responsive staff. One person's experience. It doesn't prove medical results, safety or what's typical. Some other BBB reviewers mention discounts or referral rewards. Joshua B's quoted review does not state that he received an incentive, and we did not contact him to verify a relationship.

What complainants report

The six complaints on the BBB profile, filed between May 2024 and June 2025, describe charges after little or no contact, disputes over billing, and messages that went unanswered. BBB lists no business response to them. We couldn't verify any complaint. Some describe insurance billing, and BBB expressly warns that Helix MWR is separate from Helix VM and Helix Urgent Care, so those reports cannot establish this hormone service's billing practices.

Why some older reviews call Helix "cheap"

You may see reviews praising Helix as cheaper than other clinics. That's not a typo. Helix's own membership page says it started out trying to make hormone therapy affordable, then changed its approach. Its homepage now calls the model "expensive & exclusive." Older reviews may describe older prices.

Check your prescriber yourself

Ask Helix for your prescriber's full name, license type and the state they're licensed in. Then look the license up on that state's board website. Our guide to verifying a TRT provider's license shows you how.

One line in Helix's contract worth knowing

Helix's terms say its clinicians may recommend care that differs from guidance published by the FDA, the Endocrine Society and the American Urological Association. That's unusually candid. Ask how your plan compares with standard guideline care.

Is Helix's testosterone FDA-approved?

The testosterone formulation Helix advertises is not FDA-approved: it is compounded in MCT oil. Compounded drugs are made by combining, mixing or altering ingredients. FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed.

  • FDA-approved means the FDA reviewed a specific manufactured product before it went on sale.
  • Compounded means ingredients were combined, mixed or altered to make a medication. This commonly happens in pharmacies but can occur in other authorized settings. The FDA says compounded drugs are not FDA-approved.

Compounding can be appropriate when an FDA-approved drug cannot meet a patient's medical needs. But you should know what you're paying for. Ask Helix for:

  1. The exact product name, formulation, strength and quantity, including which form of testosterone is used
  2. The pharmacy that prepares and ships it, plus the manufacturer if an approved product is prescribed
  3. Whether that pharmacy is licensed in your state
  4. The same answers for every other medication in your bundle

If you specifically want an FDA-approved testosterone product, start with our list of FDA-approved testosterone products and a clinician who prescribes them.

Who should pay for Helix, and who should spend elsewhere?

Helix's model may fit a diagnosed man at an address it serves who values home visits and coordination enough to pay the premium in his written quote. Male Excel and Hone publish lower starting-cost models, with different services and treatment details to confirm. Some should start with a primary care doctor, urologist or fertility specialist instead.

What should you ask Helix before booking?

Get nine answers in writing before booking or authorizing work, because Helix's terms include billing triggers beyond a blood draw. Together they cover your exact charges, commitment, cancellation, inclusions, medications, prescriber, testing, refills and records.

Copy these. Text them to (888) 303-5030 or email concierge@helixbayarea.com. Save the reply.

  1. What are my exact recurring charges: $525, $450, $325 or something else? What does each cover, and do any of those figures describe the same charge?
  2. Will I pay a setup fee, and is it $150, $1,000 or waived? Is it refunded if I'm not prescribed anything?
  3. Does a 60-day commitment apply to me? If so, what are its start and end dates under the later-of rule, and what is my exact early-termination fee?
  4. Will I ever be billed separately for medications, labs, visits, tests, shipping, supplies or any applicable taxes?
  5. What exact event and date activate my billing? Can onboarding, coordination or scheduling count before my first blood draw?
  6. Which exact medications, formulations, strengths and quantities would I receive? Which are FDA-approved, compounded or otherwise unapproved, are any approved drugs being used off-label, and which pharmacy prepares and ships each one?
  7. Who is my prescriber? What is their license type, which state licenses them, and are they DEA-registered?
  8. How often will I have labs, and are all of them included? Is repeat early-morning testosterone testing before diagnosis included, and when should it be fasting? How do monitoring delays affect refills, delivery and billing?
  9. How exactly do I cancel, and how will you confirm it in writing? How do I obtain my lab results and records after cancellation or transfer them to my next clinician?

What should you know about TRT before paying anyone?

Testosterone is a prescription-only Schedule III drug. Low testosterone should be diagnosed from symptoms or signs plus consistently low early-morning blood tests, not one number or an online quiz. Testosterone can lower sperm production, so talk to a urologist first if you want children.

  • How diagnosis works. The Endocrine Society recommends diagnosing low testosterone only when you have symptoms or signs and repeat early-morning, fasting blood tests that are consistently low. One low result isn't enough. See how low testosterone is diagnosed.
  • Fertility. Testosterone from outside the body can suppress spermatogenesis, the body's sperm production. The Endocrine Society recommends against starting it in men planning to have children soon. Helix's own contract says it doesn't guarantee fertility will be preserved. Read TRT and fertility.
  • Conditions that need further evaluation. A high hematocrit (the share of your blood made of red blood cells), untreated severe sleep apnea, a recent heart attack or stroke, or prostate concerns can change whether TRT is right for you. See who should not take TRT.
  • Helix's own age rule. Helix's terms say its hormone services are generally for adults age 30 and older.

Call 911 for chest pain or trouble breathing. Seek prompt medical care for new swelling or pain in one leg.

How did we price Helix MWR?

We read Helix's homepage, men's program, Services, Membership, FAQ, About, Locations, appointment, Contact and full Terms of Service pages on October 19, 2026, along with its BBB records. Each Helix scenario was calculated from its published numbers; combined fees remain conditional unless a quote confirms them together. We didn't sign up, pay, contact Helix or receive care.

What we actually verified

Date checked: October 19, 2026

Sources read: Helix's homepage, How It Works – Men, Services, Black Card Membership, FAQ, About, Locations, appointment page, Contact and Terms of Service (last updated March 22, 2026); BBB profile, complaints and customer reviews; Male Excel's pricing, TRT program, FAQ and medical-leadership pages; Hone Plus membership and TRT lab schedule (both updated Sept 29, 2026), state availability (Sept 4, 2026), retesting and cancellation pages; DEA, HHS, FDA, IRS, Endocrine Society and manufacturer-label sources.

Verified public statements, not a patient quote: advertised $525 and $325 prices; the $150 appointment setup fee; terms listing a $1,000 setup fee, $450 concierge fee, applicable 60-day commitment, $700 early-termination fee, multiple billing triggers, cancellation, arbitration and opt-out; add-on prices and setup fees; stated insurance and HSA/FSA policies; advertised compounded testosterone; 11 states plus DC in the selector; named practitioners; Black Card groups.

Provider-stated, not independently tested: service delivery, in-person visits by DEA-registered practitioners, same-day appointments, roughly 8-day lab turnaround and reported outcomes.

Customer-experience signals: BBB complaints and reviews, with the business-identity warning and incentive disclosures discussed above.

Still unknown: your complete quote and fee combination; your exact product, strength, quantity and dispensing pharmacy; whether repeat early-morning testing is included; your monitoring schedule, refill window and appointment availability; whether your address is served; your assigned prescriber and current license status; response times. We did not independently verify individual practitioner licenses or pharmacy licenses.

What we didn't do: sign up, book, pay, contact Helix or receive care. This is a public-source cost guide, not a hands-on review.

Our full process is How We Review TRT Providers. It separates verified facts, provider-stated facts, customer-experience signals and our own conclusions, and it accounts for the components of complete cost while marking any amount that remains unconfirmed. Review policy: Our editorial standards call for review at least quarterly and when material facts change. The current federal telemedicine extension runs through December 31, 2026; ask your provider about any change before relying on care beyond that date.

Helix MWR cost FAQ

Helix advertises $525 a month, or $325 for accepted Black Card members, but its conflicting fee documents prevent a confirmed full-year quote from public prices alone. These answers separate published prices, contract terms and the care questions to resolve before paying.

How much does Helix MWR cost per month?

Helix MWR advertises $525 a month at its standard rate and $325 for accepted Black Card members. Helix says both prices include labs, bundled treatments, consults, delivery and concierge care, but its terms list other fees and permit separate charges. Confirm your exact recurring bill in writing.

Is there a setup fee at Helix?

Helix's pages disagree. Booking text says "no extra fees," the appointment page lists $150, and the Terms of Service list a $1,000 setup fee that is generally nonrefundable once processed, except where law requires otherwise. Helix also lists waivers for specified Black Card groups. Get your setup fee in writing before you book.

What is the Helix Black Card?

It's a $325-a-month membership, $200 less than the standard rate. Helix calls it invite-only, but you can ask by typing "Black Card" in the promo box when you book.

Who automatically qualifies for Helix's Black Card?

Helix lists people with autoimmune disorders or HIV, transgender and gender-fluid patients 28 and older, active and retired military, police, firefighters, first responders, clergy, gun-store owners, firearm instructors, people with a "vaccine injury," and people with paralysis or head injuries. Helix says these groups also pay no setup fee.

Can I cancel Helix anytime?

You can request cancellation, but leaving during an applicable 60-day commitment carries a $700 fee under the terms. That term starts on the later of medication receipt or completion of required Helix bloodwork. Email billing@helixbayarea.com and keep the confirmation. If none arrives within two business days, follow up with customer service. Billing continues until cancellation is properly submitted and processed.

Does Helix take insurance?

Helix says it does not take insurance. It says it accepts HSA and FSA funds when they're linked to a personal credit card and can provide an eligibility letter after a qualifying consult. Tax and plan rules determine whether each charge qualifies.

Does the $525 include medication and labs?

Helix's marketing says yes, for labs done through its own services. Its Terms also allow separate charges for medications, labs, visits and testing. Ask whether anything could be billed outside your monthly fee.

How much is growth hormone at Helix?

Helix lists direct growth hormone (Omnitrope) at $375 a month plus a $450 setup fee, a $4,950 subtotal for 12 unchanged payments plus setup. Sermorelin injection programs cost $155 to $300 a month plus setup. Neither is testosterone; Omnitrope is not FDA-approved for anti-aging.

Is Helix MWR the same as Helix HRT?

No. Helix HRT is a label shown on Talon Wellness's website, a separate Nevada online clinic. See our Talon Wellness TRT cost guide.

Is Helix's testosterone FDA-approved?

Helix's advertised testosterone is compounded in MCT oil. That preparation is not FDA-approved. Confirm the exact product and dispensing pharmacy in your own plan.

Where does Helix MWR operate?

Helix's booking selector lists 11 states plus the District of Columbia: Arizona, California, Colorado, DC, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Texas, Utah and Washington. It serves select cities, not every address. Confirm service at your address before booking.

Is Helix cheaper than Male Excel or Hone Health?

The published starting-cost models for Male Excel and Hone Plus are lower than Helix's advertised recurring-fee subtotal. Male Excel's model is $2,727 before shipping and other charges; the Hone illustration is $2,046–$2,051 with 12 vials and a paid at-lab confirmation test. Confirm that Hone Plus is open to new patients in your state. Compare written quotes: those figures do not establish your annual prescription needs, complete bill or equivalent care.

Why does Helix have a BBB F rating?

BBB cites failure to respond to six complaints as the reason for its F rating. It lists six complaints in three years and a customer-review average of 4.07 out of 5 from 44 reviews. BBB also warns that Helix MWR is separate from Helix VM and Helix Urgent Care, so complaints involving those businesses should not be treated as verified reports about this hormone service.

Do I need a diagnosis before Helix will treat me?

Helix says prescriptions aren't guaranteed and that its practitioners decide. Standard guidelines call for symptoms or signs plus consistently low early-morning testosterone on repeat tests before diagnosis.

Does Helix rely on the telemedicine waiver that ends in 2026?

Helix's FAQ says every testosterone patient is seen in person at home by a DEA-registered practitioner. That statement alone does not establish the prescribing pathway or guarantee continuity after December 31, 2026. Ask who conducts the exam, who prescribes and what rules apply to your care.

Can Helix protect my fertility?

Helix markets gonadorelin and enclomiphene for "fertility support," but its own contract says it doesn't guarantee fertility will be preserved. If you want children, see a urologist or reproductive urologist before starting testosterone anywhere.

How old do I have to be for Helix?

Helix's terms say its hormone services are generally for adults 30 and older, and transgender care for adults 28 and older. Those are Helix's stated service rules, not general medical age cutoffs; gender-affirming care follows a separate clinical framework.

This page is educational information, not medical advice. It doesn't diagnose low testosterone or tell you whether to start, stop or change any medication. Call 911 for chest pain or trouble breathing. Seek prompt medical care for new swelling or pain in one leg.
