Male Excel vs Talon Wellness: Which TRT Provider Fits You?

Male Excel vs Talon Wellness comes down to price versus published detail. Talon advertises men's TRT "as low as $65 a month" with labs and a consult included, which is about $780 a year if that estimate holds. Male Excel works out to about $2,727 in year one at published starting rates, but it shows you much more before you pay.

That's a gap of nearly $2,000 a year. So the real question isn't "which one is cheaper." You already know that. It's whether Male Excel's more fully published care model is worth roughly $162 a month more than Talon's current annualized estimate. Below, we put both on the same 24 buyer questions so you can see exactly where that money goes.

Searching "Talon Wellness vs Male Excel"? Same comparison, same answer.

Two things change the answer before price even matters:

  • If low testosterone hasn't been confirmed with repeat early-morning blood tests, neither one is your best first step.
  • If you are planning fertility in the near term, start with a urologist or reproductive urologist, not a standard TRT program.

Male Excel is likely the better fit if you:

  • Want named physician leaders and a set check-in every 60 days
  • Want small daily doses or a testosterone cream
  • Want the price list, state list and fine print in writing before you pay
  • Live in one of the 39 states it serves

Talon Wellness is likely the better fit if you:

  • Already have a confirmed diagnosis
  • Care most about the lowest possible bill
  • Are fine with injections into the muscle
  • Will get the prescriber, state, product and full price from Talon in writing first

Neither is the right first step if you:

  • Have had only one low test, or none
  • Are trying to conceive soon
  • Need insurance or Medicare to pay, or specifically want an FDA-approved testosterone product from your local pharmacy

Male Excel vs Talon Wellness at a glance: what's the real difference?

Male Excel is a membership program. You pay $99 a month for ongoing care, plus medicine billed every two months, built around small daily doses and named physician leaders. Talon Wellness is a Henderson, Nevada clinic that advertises one monthly estimate with labs and a consult included. The biggest difference is how much each one tells you before you pay.

We asked both companies the same 24 questions, using only what they publish. Here's what came back.

The count: Male Excel clearly answers 22 of 24 questions on its own pages. Talon clearly answers 9, and partly answers 2 more.

That isn't a quality score. A clinic can give good care and publish very little. But it tells you where your homework is. With Male Excel, you're mostly checking numbers it already shows. With Talon, you're asking for answers it hasn't shown yet.

One more thing worth clearing up. A few sites describe "Male Excel TRT" as a capsule supplement. It isn't. Male Excel offers prescription testosterone care through affiliated physician-owned medical practices; it is not a testosterone supplement.

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.

Find My TRT Path is educational. It doesn't diagnose low testosterone or decide whether you'll be prescribed anything.

What we actually verified

Date checked: October 12, 2026.

What we read:

  • Talon Wellness: homepage (price tiles, footnotes, FAQ, pharmacy list), Men's Health page, About Us, and Terms & Conditions (updated January 21, 2026)
  • Male Excel: TRT Online page, Hormone Treatment Costs page, FAQ, Terms & Conditions (updated July 2026), and Excel Advantage Guarantee terms
  • Customer reports: Male Excel's Better Business Bureau file and Trustpilot page
  • Rules and medical guidance: the DEA telemedicine extension, AUA and Endocrine Society guidance, and FDA guidance on compounded drugs

Confirmed on the providers' own pages: every ✅ row in the ledger above, plus both price lists and both refund clauses.

What the providers say but we couldn't confirm: Talon's "labs + consult included" and "all 50 states." Male Excel's 60-day reviews, 6-month blood tests and HSA/FSA eligibility.

Checked on an earlier date: Male Excel's FAQ pharmacy names (October 7, 2026). Talon's pharmacy license records (October 7, 2026, in our Talon Wellness review).

Still unknown:

  • Either company's assigned prescriber for you
  • Talon's full price list and the product status of its testosterone
  • Talon's state list
  • Male Excel's shipping fee

What we didn't do: sign up, pay, take medication or talk with a clinician at either company. This is a comparison built from public evidence, not a hands-on review. Our method is How We Review TRT Providers.

How much does Male Excel cost vs Talon Wellness in year one?

At published starting rates, Male Excel's injection plan costs $2,727 in year one plus shipping, and its cream plan costs $2,871. Talon's "as low as $65 a month" works out to about $780 if that estimate holds all year. The gap is about $1,947, or $162 a month. Only Male Excel's total is built from a published price list.

Neither company shows you a yearly total. So we built one.

The year-one cost table

Male Excel vs Talon Wellness table 3: The year-one cost table
Plan (starting rates) To start First medicine charge After that First 90 days Year one
Male Excel injections (includes thyroid tablets and syringes) $99 $339 ($240 medicine + $99 membership) Alternates $99 and $339 $876 $2,727 + shipping
Male Excel cream (includes thyroid tablets) $99 $363 ($264 + $99) Alternates $99 and $363 $924 $2,871 + shipping
Talon, if $65 holds Included Not published Not published About $195 About $780

How we did the math:

  • Male Excel injections: $99 + (12 × $99 membership) + (6 × $240 for a 60-day supply) = $2,727
  • Male Excel cream: $99 + (12 × $99) + (6 × $264) = $2,871
  • Talon: 12 × $65 = $780
  • The gap: $2,727 − $780 = $1,947 a year, about $162 a month. Male Excel's starting total is 3.5 times Talon's estimate.

Four things to know about these numbers:

  1. Talon's $65 is its own estimate. Its footnote says it's "based on average prescribed dosage." Your prescribed plan can change the real amount, so treat $780 as an annualized estimate, not a quote.
  2. Talon separately advertises a 48-marker blood panel for $99. Its TRT tile also says labs and consultation are included. Talon does not say that the separate $99 panel is an extra required TRT fee, so we do not add it to the year-one total.
  3. Male Excel's six 60-day supplies cover 360 days. Ask for your real charge dates.
  4. Male Excel's published starting testosterone bundles include thyroid tablets. Its current site also says thyroid medication is used when clinically appropriate. If thyroid medication appears in your proposed plan, ask why it is being prescribed and how your price changes if your clinician does not prescribe it.

What lands on your card in the first couple of weeks

This is the number that surprises people.

At Male Excel's starting rates, your first two charges come close together. You pay $99 for the lab kit and consult. If your provider prescribes, the first 60-day supply ($240) and the first membership month ($99) follow. That's about $438 before shipping.

Male Excel's Better Business Bureau file, which we read on October 12, 2026, shows why the first charge deserves attention. BBB lists Male Excel as accredited with an A+ rating and shows 37 complaints in the last three years. Several 2026 complainants described medicine charges of $283.60 to $308.60 plus the $99 membership fee after seeing lower advertised entry prices; Male Excel responded to multiple complaints with refunds or other resolutions.

These are individual reports, not proof of what you'll pay. BBB also warns that complaint text may not represent all complaints and that complaint volume should be considered in context. But the reports point to one practical question to ask before your consult ends: "What exactly will you charge me, and when?"

Talon does not publish a TRT billing schedule. Its $65 figure is an estimated monthly equivalent, not a statement that your card will be charged $65 every month. Ask for the actual charge amount, billing unit and timing in writing.

The honest trade-off

Male Excel does not compete on published starting price. If the lower advertised cash-pay estimate is what matters most, Talon is the better provider to investigate first. So are several clinics in our cheapest online TRT comparison.

But because Male Excel charges for care separately from medicine, its $99 membership pays for things Talon doesn't publish at all:

  • Two named physician leaders
  • The same provider over time
  • A review every 60 days, plus unlimited e-visits and messaging
  • Blood testing every six months
  • A cream option
  • A written promise: if you follow the plan for 90 days and don't improve, you can ask for your first three months of membership back

That's a different kind of program. It isn't proof of better medical results. But if structure is what you want, the extra money has a clear job.

What the extra $162 a month buys at Male Excel, and what it doesn't

Male Excel vs Talon Wellness table 4: What the extra $162 a month buys at Male Excel, and what it doesn't
What Male Excel says it buys What it doesn't buy
Named Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director Your own prescriber's name before you pay
The same provider over time Proof of better results
60-day reviews, unlimited e-visits and messaging Insurance billing
Blood testing every 6 months A less-frequent injection schedule (its core plan is daily)
A cream option An FDA-approved product (its program uses compounded medicine)
Published state list, terms and HSA/FSA eligibility Your choice of pharmacy
Conditional refund of up to 3 months' membership (up to $297) A general refund; "all sales are final"

Does that sound like what you'd be paying for? See Male Excel's current pricing, including its membership → These are starting rates. Your provider sets your dose, and your dose sets your medicine price.

What does Talon's $65-a-month estimate actually include?

Talon's homepage says men's TRT is "as low as $65/month" with "Labs + Consultation included," and a footnote calls it an estimate based on average prescribed dosage. Talon doesn't publish follow-up lab fees, shipping, a billing schedule or whether a membership applies. So $65 is a starting point for a conversation, not a quote.

What Talon publishes

  • The price: "as low as $65/month," labelled as an estimate
  • What's included: "Labs + Consultation" (Talon says)
  • Labs come first: labs are required before any prescription
  • Follow-up labs: "periodically," as your provider decides
  • The medicine: testosterone cypionate, usually injected into the muscle
  • Pharmacies: three named
  • Refunds: none once services are rendered
  • Office visits: available in Henderson, Nevada, if you call

What you need in writing before you pay

  • Your exact medicine price, and how long each order lasts
  • Whether anything is charged before your first prescription
  • Whether follow-up labs and visits are included, and how often they happen
  • Shipping and supply costs per order
  • Whether any recurring fee or automatic renewal applies

One small detail trips people up. Talon's homepage says "No membership. No subscription. Pay by the vial." That line sits under its weight-loss treatment, not under TRT. It doesn't tell you how Talon bills for testosterone.

None of these gaps means something is wrong. They mean the $65 hasn't been tested against your prescription yet. That's a phone call, not a dealbreaker. For the full checklist and a fill-in worksheet, see our Talon Wellness cost guide.

Which one can treat you in your state?

Male Excel prescribes in every state except Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Talon says it serves all 50 states but publishes no list and names no prescriber. Testosterone is a controlled drug, so whoever prescribes it must be authorized where you are.

Male Excel's state exclusions (from its FAQ, October 12, 2026)

Male Excel vs Talon Wellness table 5: Male Excel's state exclusions (from its FAQ, October 12, 2026)
Male Excel does not prescribe in
Alabama Louisiana
Alaska Minnesota
Arkansas Mississippi
Connecticut New Hampshire
Hawaii Rhode Island
Idaho

Live in one of those states? Male Excel isn't an option for you right now. Ask Talon to confirm in writing that it treats patients where you live, and ask for your prescriber's name. Or use Find My TRT Path to see other care routes.

Why "all 50 states" isn't enough on its own

Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance. That's the federal group for drugs with real medical uses and some risk of misuse, and it means you need a valid prescription (DEA). Telehealth doesn't change that.

The clinician who treats you must be licensed for the state you're in during the visit (HHS). A clinic's "all 50 states" claim is only as strong as the licenses behind it. You can look up any prescriber through the Federation of State Medical Boards directory. Our guide on how to verify a TRT provider's license walks you through it.

What happens after December 31, 2026?

Right now, a temporary federal rule lets DEA-registered clinicians prescribe controlled drugs like testosterone by video visit without seeing you in person first. That rule runs through December 31, 2026 (DEA). States can still require more.

What comes next is not settled enough to promise here. Re-check DEA and HHS rules before relying on this page for care that would begin after December 31, 2026.

Here's how each provider prepares you:

  • Male Excel already warns that, "based on DEA and state laws, your testosterone treatment plan may require an in-person medical exam."
  • Talon offers office visits, but only in Henderson, Nevada.

Ask both: "If an in-person visit becomes required in my state, what happens to my care?"

Who's actually treating you, and how is low T diagnosed?

Male Excel names its Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director and runs care through physician-owned medical practices. Talon names no clinician on its public pages. Neither names your own prescriber before you pay. Both require labs first. But Male Excel says it treats "based on symptoms," which isn't how major guidelines diagnose low testosterone.

How each company is set up

Male Excel: Its terms explain that Excel Medical runs the technology platform and says it is "not a healthcare provider." Your care comes from Male Excel Medical, P.A. and related state practices, which are owned by licensed physicians. Lab tests go through its affiliated lab, AEMA Labs. Its TRT page names Peter Fotinos, MD, as Chief Medical Officer and Lorna A. Brudie, DO, as Medical Director.

Talon Wellness: Its pages describe "Wellness Specialists" and a telemedicine consultation. When we checked its privacy policy on October 7, it referred to "our board-certified medical practitioner" without a name. Talon says it is family- and veteran-owned.

Named leaders aren't the same as your doctor. Ask either company: "Who will prescribe for me, and where are they licensed?"

What the guidelines actually require

Low testosterone (doctors call it hypogonadism) isn't diagnosed from one number or a symptom quiz.

  • The American Urological Association says a clinical diagnosis requires symptoms or signs plus low testosterone, recommends two total testosterone measurements on separate early-morning occasions, and uses below 300 ng/dL as a reasonable cutoff supporting the diagnosis.
  • The Endocrine Society recommends diagnosing hypogonadism only with compatible symptoms or signs plus unequivocally and consistently low testosterone, confirmed by repeating a morning fasting total testosterone measurement.
  • No single testosterone number diagnoses every person by itself.

Before starting, a careful clinic also checks hematocrit (the share of your blood made of red blood cells, which testosterone can raise) and, for men over 40, PSA (a prostate blood test).

Where each provider stands

Male Excel: Its TRT page says many clinics use "outdated standards" and that Male Excel "treats based on symptoms, the way it should be." Symptoms matter, but the major guidelines also require consistently low testosterone confirmed with appropriate repeat early-morning testing. Male Excel's public wording does not state that two-test standard. Ask how your provider confirms the diagnosis before prescribing.

Talon: It says labs come before any prescription. It also says it prescribes only when "medically necessary and clinically appropriate." It doesn't say whether it requires a second morning test. Ask.

Had only one test so far? Read do you need two low testosterone tests for TRT? before you pay anyone. Male Excel uses an at-home kit; here's how at-home tests compare with a lab draw.

Daily small shots or injections into the muscle: how is treatment different?

Male Excel's main plan is a small testosterone cypionate injection under the skin every day, or a cream applied twice a day. Talon lists testosterone cypionate, "usually administered via intramuscular injection," and no other testosterone format for men. Which schedule fits you is a decision for you and your clinician, not a price decision.

Two plain-English terms:

  • Subcutaneous means just under the skin, with a small insulin-type needle. That's Male Excel's daily approach.
  • Intramuscular means into the muscle. Talon says testosterone cypionate is usually given this way, but it does not publish one universal injection schedule for every patient.

Male Excel says daily dosing avoids "peaks or troughs." That's Male Excel's claim. The research on daily versus less-frequent injections is still growing. Our guides on daily vs weekly injections and under-the-skin vs into-the-muscle injections lay out what's known.

If you want a cream

Only Male Excel offers one here. Its Testosterone Lipoderm Cream is compounded. Topical testosterone can transfer through skin contact. Male Excel's own safety information warns about secondary exposure from its compounded cream, and FDA-approved testosterone gels carry boxed warnings about secondary exposure to children. See our guide to testosterone cream transfer risk.

Male Excel's "tablets" aren't testosterone

Male Excel says you can choose "creams, injections, or tablets." The tablet is Triclozene, which Male Excel's price page describes as clomiphene citrate plus thyroid. Clomiphene is not testosterone, and it isn't TRT. It works by nudging your body to make more of its own testosterone.

Two things to know:

  • Male Excel's TRT page calls this option "Enclomiphene Citrate," while its price page says clomiphene. Ask which one you'd get.
  • The same price page shows Triclozene at both $95 and $120 a month.

See Clomid vs TRT for how they differ.

If small daily doses or a cream sound easier to live with, start Male Excel's free assessment to see whether its approach fits you → Your provider decides the format after your labs and consult.

Want intramuscular injections rather than Male Excel's daily subcutaneous approach? Talon publicly describes testosterone cypionate as usually given intramuscularly, but it does not publish a universal dosing schedule. Ask what treatment format and follow-up schedule your clinician would actually prescribe, or compare testosterone cypionate providers.

Is the testosterone compounded? Which pharmacy fills it?

Male Excel says its compounded medicines are not FDA-approved, and its terms say it won't send your prescription to a different pharmacy. Talon names three pharmacies but doesn't say whether your testosterone is FDA-approved or compounded. Both companies have named Anazao Health as a pharmacy, which shows a shared pharmacy doesn't make two programs the same.

Two terms you need:

  • FDA-approved means the FDA reviewed the drug's safety, effectiveness and manufacturing before it was sold. FDA-approved testosterone cypionate products do exist (Drugs@FDA).
  • Compounded means a pharmacy prepares a drug for an individual patient. The FDA says compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and aren't the same as approved generics.

Compounded drugs can serve an important medical need, but FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed. You deserve to know whether the product being offered to you is FDA-approved or compounded.

Male Excel vs Talon Wellness table 6: Is the testosterone compounded? Which pharmacy fills it?
Male Excel Talon Wellness

Can you pick your pharmacy? No. Its terms say it "will not be able to send your prescription … to a different pharmacy" Not stated
Packaging Terms say medicine won't ship in child-resistant packaging Not stated

The shared-pharmacy finding. Anazao Health appears on both providers' public pharmacy lists. That does not mean the formulations, prices or care models are the same; the dispensing pharmacy is only one part of the treatment pathway.

Talon's Partell listing deserves one clarification. Talon lists Partell Pharmacy at 5835 South Eastern Ave in Las Vegas. Partell's current website uses that same address and phone number, while National Health Rx also currently publishes the same address and phone number under its own name. Ask Talon for the exact legal name of the pharmacy that would fill your prescription, then verify that pharmacy with the relevant state board.

Need an FDA-approved product that your insurance covers at your local pharmacy? Neither program is built for that. Start with TRT providers that take insurance or your primary care doctor.

What happens after you start? Follow-ups, labs and refills

Male Excel says its membership includes 60-day reviews, unlimited e-visits and blood testing every six months, with a refill reminder before each 60-day supply runs out. Talon says follow-up labs happen "periodically" as your prescriber decides. Refills go through a web form or a text to 725-444-5575. Only Male Excel publishes a schedule.

More often isn't automatically better

A published schedule is easier to plan around. But the right amount of monitoring depends on your medicine, your labs and how you respond, not on a membership tier. What matters is that someone checks the right things.

Guidelines point to hematocrit, testosterone levels and, for many men, PSA. Since 2025, the FDA also requires blood-pressure warnings on testosterone labels (FDA). So ask either company what they check and when. Our guide on how often to get bloodwork on TRT shows the usual schedule.

What customers say about service

Customer reviews tell you about service, billing and shipping. They can't tell you whether treatment is right for you, or what's typical.

  • Male Excel (Trustpilot, 4.5 out of 5 from 6,630 reviews when checked): recent verified reviews include both smooth-process reports and complaints about support, prescription handling and unexplained or confusing charges. Trustpilot also shows that Male Excel invites customer reviews. Treat those reports as service signals, not evidence of medical results.
  • Talon Wellness (Reddit): public posts include both positive process reports and complaints about refill or communication delays. Our Talon review links the attributable posts. These reports are individual experiences, not proof of a company-wide pattern.

Want a set check-in every 60 days instead of "periodically"? Start with Male Excel's free assessment, then its $99 lab test and consult → A prescription is never guaranteed. Your provider decides after your labs and consult.

Refunds, cancelling and fine print: which is safer for your money?

Neither gives a general refund. Male Excel's terms say all sales are final, but it offers a conditional refund of your first three months of membership if you follow its plan and don't improve. Talon's terms say no refunds once services are rendered. Male Excel also requires individual arbitration for disputes unless you opt out within 30 days.

Male Excel's guarantee, in plain English

Here's what you have to do to use it:

  • Who can use it: new members only
  • How long: you stay on the plan for 90 days in a row
  • What you must do: follow your provider's plan and go to every scheduled appointment, and Male Excel may ask for proof
  • When to ask: within 30 days after day 90
  • Who decides: Male Excel judges "improvement" with its own symptom assessment
  • What you get back: membership fees only, up to $297. Not medicine, and not the $99 starting fee.
  • Fine print: Male Excel can change the guarantee without notice, but changes don't affect people already enrolled

It's a real safety net, but a narrow one. Read the full guarantee terms before you count on it.

Arbitration, in one sentence

By agreeing to Male Excel's terms, you give up the right to sue in court or join a class action unless you email legal@excelmedical.com within 30 days to opt out.

Talon's open question

Talon's terms don't define "rendered." Ask before you pay: "If I pay and your clinician decides not to prescribe, what do I get back?" Also note that texting STOP ends Talon's text messages, not your billing.

One question to ask both

"What exact charges will hit my card in the next 12 months, on what dates, and what do I do to stop each one?"

Save the reply. More on Male Excel's rules in our Male Excel cancellation policy guide.

Does either one take insurance, HSA or FSA?

Male Excel says it does not accept insurance and that its program may be eligible for HSA, FSA or HRA reimbursement. Talon's public pages do not state whether it bills insurance or whether its services are HSA/FSA eligible. If using insurance is important, verify Talon's policy before paying and compare an in-network clinician.

Male Excel's terms ask you to agree that neither you nor it will submit a claim to any insurer or government plan. Some people use HSA or FSA money anyway. Male Excel says you "may be able to use FSA, HSA, or HRA funds for reimbursement." Check with your plan administrator.

Talon doesn't say. Ask before you budget around it.

What if you want kids?

Testosterone therapy can lower sperm production, so neither program should be your first stop if you're trying to conceive. Male Excel's FAQ says TRT "can impact sperm production" and mentions non-testosterone options. Talon's men's TRT page doesn't address fertility. If a baby is in your near-term plans, start with a urologist or reproductive urologist.

Here's why. Testosterone from outside your body can turn down the hormone signals your testicles use to make sperm. This process is called spermatogenesis. How much it drops, and how fast it returns after stopping, varies from man to man (AUA/ASRM guideline).

The Endocrine Society recommends against starting testosterone in men planning a pregnancy in the near term. No honest clinic can promise you'll become infertile, stay fertile, or recover on a set timeline.

Some clinics offer options like clomiphene, enclomiphene or hCG. These are not TRT. Clomiphene's FDA approval is for ovulation problems in women, so using it in men is off-label. A fertility-aware clinician should decide whether any of them fits you. Our TRT and fertility guide covers this in depth.

Can you switch between Male Excel and Talon?

You can change clinics, but your prescription doesn't simply transfer. A new clinician has to evaluate you and decide what's appropriate, and may want new labs. Before you switch, collect your lab results, prescription details and visit notes so the new clinic isn't starting from zero.

Many men find this comparison while already on TRT and looking to cut costs or get better support. If that's you, keep your care steady while you switch. A cheaper price isn't worth a gap in medical supervision.

Get these from your current clinic first:

  • All lab results, especially your most recent testosterone, hematocrit and PSA
  • Your current medicine, format and pharmacy
  • Your prescriber's name and contact
  • Visit notes, if they'll release them
  • Any side effects you've had
  • Your fertility plans, written down

Then ask the new clinic:

  • Do you accept recent outside labs, and which ones?
  • Do I need a new consult before you'll prescribe?
  • How long from sign-up to first shipment?

Don't change, stop or restart medicine on your own between clinics. That's a decision for a clinician. See how to switch TRT providers for the full process.

Male Excel vs Talon Wellness: which should you choose?

Choose Male Excel if you want named physician leaders, a fixed follow-up rhythm, a cream or daily-dose option and written terms, and you live in one of its 39 states. Choose Talon if you're already diagnosed, want the lowest bill, and will get its prescriber, state, product and full price in writing first. Choose neither yet if you're undiagnosed, planning a child or need insurance.

Our verdict

There is no honest universal winner here. Male Excel is easier to evaluate from public evidence because you can check the price list, state exclusions, physician leaders, follow-up schedule and fine print before you pay. What you are paying extra for is visible.

Talon can be the smarter buy for a diagnosed, budget-first man who is comfortable with its injection-focused public offering. That is especially relevant if he lives in a state Male Excel does not serve. But Talon's low number only becomes your real number after Talon confirms the full quote, prescribing availability and product details in writing.

This is our editorial conclusion based on the verified facts above. It isn't medical advice.

If Male Excel's row describes you, start its free hormone assessment → Questionnaire first, then a $99 at-home lab test and consult. A clinician decides whether a prescription is appropriate.

If Talon's row describes you, request a call from Talon → and send the questions below before you share a card number. (Not an affiliate.)

What should you ask before you pay either one?

Send each provider a short written list and keep the reply. Ask Talon who prescribes, which states it serves, what the full year costs and whether your testosterone is compounded. Ask Male Excel how it confirms the diagnosis, what your first medicine charge will be, why thyroid medicine is in your plan and what shipping costs.

Copy these, send them by text or email, and save what comes back.

Ask Talon Wellness

  1. Who will prescribe for me? What's their full name, and where are they licensed?
  2. Do you treat patients in my state today? Would I ever need an in-person visit?
  3. What's my complete first-year cost? Please include the consult, first and repeat labs, medicine, supplies, shipping and any recurring fee, plus the date each charge happens.
  4. Which pharmacy will fill my prescription? Is my testosterone FDA-approved or compounded?
  5. Do you require two early-morning testosterone tests? Do you accept outside labs?
  6. How often are follow-up labs, what do they cost, and how fast do refills ship?
  7. If I pay and you don't prescribe, what do I get back? How do I stop future orders, and how do I get my records?

Talon's contact: text or call 725-444-5575, or email info@talonwellness.com. Its terms list a second number, 725-296-1117.

Ask Male Excel

  1. Who will my provider be, and where are they licensed?
  2. How do you confirm low testosterone? Do you use two early-morning tests?
  3. What will my first medicine charge be, including shipping, and on what date?
  4. Is the thyroid tablet required in my plan? Can I get testosterone alone, and at what price?
  5. Which pharmacy will fill my prescription?
  6. How do I cancel my membership and any pending refill? How exactly do you measure "improvement" for the guarantee?

How we compared Male Excel and Talon Wellness

We read both companies' public pricing, FAQ, terms and policy pages on October 12, 2026. We asked both the same 24 buyer questions and calculated year-one cost from published starting rates. Medical and legal points were checked against the DEA, FDA, AUA and Endocrine Society. We didn't sign up, pay or speak with a clinician at either company.

What we did:

  1. Read every page listed in "What we actually verified" on October 12, 2026.
  2. Built the 24-question ledger, asking each company the same questions and labelling every answer by where it came from.
  3. Calculated year-one costs from published starting prices, showing every step of the math.
  4. Read Male Excel's BBB complaints and Trustpilot reviews, plus public Reddit reports about Talon. We used these only as service signals, never as medical evidence.
  5. Checked diagnosis, safety, fertility, compounding and telemedicine claims against primary sources.
  6. Kept four kinds of statements apart: facts we confirmed, things a provider says, customer reports and our own conclusions.

What this can't tell you: the quality of care you'd personally get, whether TRT is right for you, or what your exact bill will be. Prices and rules change. Check the date at the top before relying on any number.

Male Excel vs Talon Wellness FAQ

Is Male Excel better than Talon Wellness?

It depends on what "better" means to you. Male Excel publishes far more about its prices, physicians, follow-up schedule and terms. Talon costs much less on paper. If you want structure and written answers, Male Excel fits. If you want the lowest bill and are already diagnosed, Talon may fit, once its answers are in writing.

Is Talon Wellness cheaper than Male Excel?

Yes, on published numbers. Talon's "as low as $65 a month" estimate works out to about $780 a year. Male Excel's starting injection plan works out to $2,727 plus shipping. Talon's figure is an estimate based on average dosing, so get a written quote before treating it as your price.

Is Male Excel worth the money?

Only if you'll use what you're paying for. The extra $162 a month or so buys named physician leaders, 60-day reviews, unlimited e-visits, blood tests every six months, a cream option and a conditional 90-day membership refund. If you don't need that structure, a lower-cost program will likely serve you better.

Is Talon Wellness legit?

Talon publishes a Henderson, Nevada address, terms of service, named pharmacies and a rule that labs come before any prescription. It says it serves all 50 states, but it does not name an individual prescriber on the pages we checked. Confirm your state, prescriber's name and prescriber's license before paying. Our Talon Wellness review covers this in depth.

Is Talon Wellness the same as Helix HRT?

Talon's website still labels its logo "Helix HRT logo," and older content on its domain uses the Helix name. That connects the two brands. It doesn't prove anything about the company's legal history. If you were a Helix patient, ask Talon which medical practice now holds your records.

Is Male Excel legit, or is it a supplement?

Male Excel is a prescription testosterone program, not a supplement. Care comes through physician-owned practices, including Male Excel Medical, P.A. The BBB lists Male Excel as accredited with an A+ rating, and it has 37 complaints in three years, many about first charges being higher than ads suggested.

Does Male Excel or Talon take insurance?

Male Excel doesn't accept insurance and isn't enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid. Talon's pages don't mention insurance. If your plan covers testosterone care, an in-network doctor may cost much less than either program.

Which one serves my state?

Male Excel serves every state except Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Talon says it serves all 50 states but publishes no list. Ask Talon to confirm your state in writing.

Do I need an in-person visit?

Current federal telemedicine flexibilities allow qualifying controlled-substance prescribing by telemedicine without a prior in-person medical exam through December 31, 2026, if the federal requirements are met. State law and the provider's own process may still require more. Male Excel says a testosterone plan may require an in-person exam; Talon offers in-person visits in Henderson, Nevada.

Are their testosterone products FDA-approved?

Male Excel says its compounded medicines are not FDA-approved. Talon doesn't say whether its testosterone cypionate is FDA-approved or compounded, so ask before you pay.

Why does Male Excel include thyroid medicine?

Male Excel's published starting testosterone bundles include a daily thyroid tablet, while its current site says thyroid medication is used when clinically appropriate. If thyroid medication appears in your proposed plan, ask why your clinician is prescribing it and whether the price changes if it is not part of your plan.

Can I get a refund?

Generally, no. Male Excel's terms say all sales are final, but it offers a conditional refund of up to three months of membership fees if you follow its plan for 90 days and don't improve. Talon's terms say there are no refunds once services are rendered.

Will either one prescribe if my testosterone is "normal"?

Neither promises to. Talon says it prescribes only when "medically necessary and clinically appropriate." Male Excel says it treats "based on symptoms," not lab numbers alone, which is looser than major guidelines. Guidelines call for symptoms plus consistently low results on repeat early-morning tests.

Do they treat women?

Both have women's programs. Male Excel's sister brand is Fem Excel, and Talon advertises women's hormone therapy. This page covers adult men only. Care for women follows different medical standards.

Yes, when a licensed clinician with the right authority writes a valid prescription and the care follows federal and state rules. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance. A questionnaire or a payment alone never guarantees a lawful prescription.

This page is educational information, not medical advice. It doesn't diagnose low testosterone or tell you to start, stop or change any medicine. If you have chest pain or sudden trouble breathing, call 911. Get prompt care for new leg pain or swelling.
