Male Excel vs Marek Health: Male Excel fits a membership-style plan; Marek fits coaching plus separately billed testing. Male Excel lists $99 a month before medicine. Marek lists $299 to start, with labs and medicine extra. Neither is a proven total-cost winner. Fertility plans, proper testing, state access, and insurance needs can change the choice.12

That missing medicine price is the whole ballgame. We worked out how to compare Marek's quote with Male Excel's published starting prices. We also found two tests listed in Marek Diagnostics' retail Pre-TRT Panel that Male Excel's starter kit doesn't list. Both answers are below.34
Your answer changes if your state limits access to the provider or required labs, you want children soon, you haven't had appropriate repeat morning testosterone testing, you need insurance to pay, or you want an FDA-approved testosterone product instead of a compounded one.
| Male Excel fits if you… | Marek Health fits if you… | Neither is your next treatment step if you… |
|---|---|---|
| Want a membership that advertises labs every six months, unlimited e-visits, and the same provider. Want published medicine starting prices, while accepting that those prices include thyroid medicine and exclude membership and shipping. | Want a dedicated health coach and separately ordered lab testing. Will get an itemized clinical quote rather than treat a retail lab-panel price as the cost of the program. | Are trying to conceive, have not had low testosterone properly evaluated, or need insurance to pay. Start with the appropriate evaluation or in-network care rather than commit to treatment. |
Fit judgments are ours, based on the companies' published offers—not a finding that either company's care is safer or more effective. Diagnostic care can arrange the testing you still need; a treatment purchase is not a diagnosis.3125

What we actually verified
Checked on: September 16, 2026.
What we read: Male Excel's homepage, pricing page, FAQ, Triclozene page, and Terms, plus an older Male Excel pricing page that's still online. Marek Health's accessible program pages and Marek Diagnostics' retail panel listings, FAQ, and refund policy. Both companies' BBB files and Trustpilot profiles. The Endocrine Society's guideline and July 2026 statement, FDA drug and thyroid information, prescribing information, and DEA and HHS notices.
What those sources establish: the offers and policies published on those pages, the contents of the listed lab panels, the named pharmacies Male Excel discloses, dated customer-review metrics, and the clinical and federal rules cited below. Our calculations can be reproduced from the stated inputs.
Provider-stated, not independently tested: care continuity, included services, appointment and support access, lab and delivery timing, and advertised results. A published claim is not proof that every patient receives that service.
Still unconfirmed: complete patient-specific quotes; Male Excel's current shipping charge and testosterone-only price; Marek's exact prescribing, pharmacy-choice, physical-exam, follow-up, and clinical refund terms. Marek's main clinical checkout, FAQ, and legal pages were not readable during this check. Retail lab terms cannot fill those gaps.
What we didn't do: enroll, buy labs, receive medicine, contact support, test a cancellation, or verify a reader's assigned clinician and dispensing pharmacy against state licensing records. No clinician has reviewed this page.

Male Excel vs Marek Health at a glance
Male Excel sells a monthly membership, with medicine billed in 60-day supplies and blood tests every six months advertised as included. Marek Health advertises a one-time $299 program fee, then bills labs and prescriptions separately. Both are cash-pay, but their complete bills and the exact medicine Marek would prescribe are not established by those opening prices.132

The right TRT provider is not the same for every person — it depends on whether low testosterone has been properly evaluated, your symptoms and health history, your fertility plans, your state, your insurance or cash-pay preference, your treatment-format preference, your budget, and whether online or in-person care is the better starting point. Some situations belong with primary care, urology, endocrinology, reproductive urology, or urgent or emergency care when the symptoms warrant it. Because a general answer cannot resolve those for you, use TRT Provider Guide's Find My TRT Path tool to map your situation to the right care route and the questions to ask before you pay.
The tool is educational and non-diagnostic. It does not determine medical eligibility or guarantee a prescription.
Should you choose Male Excel or Marek Health?
Choose Male Excel for a membership that publishes its ongoing-care benefits and medicine starting prices. Choose Marek Health for a coaching-led model with separately selected diagnostics, provided its written clinical quote and terms work for you. If you're trying to conceive or haven't been properly evaluated, resolve that before choosing a testosterone treatment plan.1325
You may have landed on this page after one of two things. A doctor said your testosterone was "fine" while you still feel off. Or you saw ads from both companies and the prices didn't line up. Here's how we'd sort it.
Male Excel is the better fit if you…
- Want routine testing built into membership. Male Excel's homepage says labs every six months are part of the $99 membership. Ask what that panel includes and whether any earlier or extra tests cost more.
- Want one person who knows your case. Male Excel says your care stays with the same provider, with a review every 60 days and unlimited e-visits in between.
- Want to know the medicine starting price first. Injection-with-thyroid and cream-with-thyroid prices are published. Marek's patient-specific medicine prices aren't on the program pages checked.
- Want help any day of the week. Male Excel's phone line runs seven days, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern. Those are support hours, not a guaranteed clinician response time.
- Prefer to discuss an injection or cream treatment format. Those are Male Excel's published testosterone options. Its advertised daily approach is not proof of better results.
- Live in a state its current list does not exclude. New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts are not on Male Excel's exclusion list; Marek Diagnostics has retail lab restrictions or warnings for those states. Neither fact verifies your individual prescription eligibility.317910
Marek Health is the better fit if you…
- Want detailed lab information before a prescription. Marek Diagnostics' retail Pre-TRT Panel lists total testosterone by LC/MS, a complete blood count, LH, FSH, and prolactin. Confirm which panel the clinical program would actually order for you.
- Like a coach who explains the numbers. Marek pairs you with a dedicated health coach, according to its program page.
- Want testing and treatment selected separately. Marek says medical providers tailor the lab panel and treatment plan; the $299 opening fee does not include all those costs.
- Will confirm the full care agreement before paying. Ask about physical exams, clinician visits, medication, pharmacy choice, and cancellation—not just the first consultation.
- Live in a state Male Excel excludes. Marek is worth asking about, but only after confirming a prescriber and a lawful lab option where you are.
- Plan to compare costs over two years and can get a complete medicine and follow-up quote. The crossover table below shows how to use that quote; it does not establish a savings winner.247
Neither is the right treatment step yet if you…
- Are trying to conceive now. See a urologist or reproductive urologist first.
- Haven't had low testosterone properly evaluated. Ask a clinician to arrange appropriate repeat early-morning testing and assess your symptoms and health history. A diagnostic visit can be part of that process.
- Need insurance or Medicare to pay. Neither company accepts it for this program; check in-network care instead.
- Cannot confirm state and lab access. Male Excel excludes Rhode Island and Hawaii, and Marek Diagnostics has retail restrictions there. Do not pay Marek on the assumption that its clinical program can solve them.5118279

Where does Male Excel fall short of Marek Health?
Male Excel publishes less of its pre-treatment testing. Its five-marker starter kit does not list a complete blood count or LH; Marek Diagnostics' retail Pre-TRT Panel lists both. That is a real disclosure gap, but it does not prove which additional tests either company's clinician would order before treatment.34
This is the biggest testing-transparency gap in the published offers, so we'll say it plainly.
Male Excel does not publish the deep pre-treatment blood panel that Marek Diagnostics does. Its starter kit measures total testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, Free T3, and PSA. It doesn't list hematocrit (the share of your blood made of red cells; testosterone can push it up) or LH (luteinizing hormone, the brain's signal telling your testicles to make testosterone). The Endocrine Society guideline includes hematocrit assessment before treatment and LH/FSH testing to help find the cause of confirmed hypogonadism. Male Excel does offer a 54-marker "360" panel, but only to members.311
If a clearly itemized, broad starter panel is what you care about most, Marek Diagnostics publishes more detail. That makes Marek worth asking about—not a verified clinical-safety winner. Our Marek Health review covers its care model in depth.
Here's the trade, though. Male Excel's homepage advertises testing every six months, unlimited e-visits, and the same provider within its $99 membership. That makes routine follow-up easier to budget. And unlike Marek's program pages, Male Excel shows medicine starting prices before you pay anything—although those prices bundle thyroid medicine and exclude membership and shipping.31
If you choose Male Excel, ask it to close the gap. Before your first prescription, ask:
- "Will you check my hematocrit and evaluate whether I need LH and FSH testing before treatment?"
- "Will you confirm a low testosterone result with another early-morning test, and what will that cost?"
A careful provider will have a clear answer. Write it down. A vague answer about these checks is a reason to seek another clinician, not a reason to overlook them.
Does one steady care plan—routine labs, the same provider, published starting prices—sound like your situation?
Review Male Excel's care details, then bring those two questions →
A clinician decides whether treatment is appropriate. Included routine testing is not a substitute for the individual checks your health requires.
How much does Male Excel cost compared with Marek Health?
Male Excel's published starting prices produce a $2,727 injection-with-thyroid budget or a $2,871 cream-with-thyroid budget using 12 membership payments and six medicine supplies. Marek's $1,494 figure below is an illustrative program-plus-retail-labs subtotal, not a published clinical package or minimum. Neither figure is a complete 365-day treatment quote.172412
These companies sell different things. One sells a membership. The other sells a program with separately billed testing and medicine. Lining them up takes arithmetic—and a clear line between a real published charge and a model assumption.
What you pay before anyone decides on a prescription
| Payment | Male Excel | Marek Health |
|---|---|---|
| What you buy first | Published $99 at-home lab kit + online consult | Advertised $299 Guided Optimization opening fee |
| What comes next | Ongoing membership and medicine if prescribed; confirm any extra diagnostic charge | A clinical lab order selected for you; its required price was not verified |
| What the published prices establish | $99 initial kit-and-consult price, not a treatment guarantee | $299 opening price, not an all-in evaluation price |
| A comparison example—not a required clinical bill | $99 initial charge | $894 only if you combine $299 access with the separate $595 retail Pre-TRT Panel |
Male Excel prices and initial fee are provider-stated. Marek's program fee and retail panel are separate offers; the example does not establish that buying one requires, includes, or discounts the other.1724
If a clinician decides testosterone isn't right for you, don't assume prior payments come back. Male Excel's general terms say sales are final; Marek Diagnostics says the same for its retail sales. Get Marek's clinical refund terms before buying clinical access. In fairness to a lab-first approach, completed testing can still give you a report to discuss with a clinician.810
Male Excel's bill, month by month
Male Excel bills medicine in 60-day supplies and the membership every month. The table models six medicine purchases alongside 12 membership payments; actual charge dates can differ.1
These are testosterone-plus-thyroid bundle prices—not testosterone-only prices.
| When | Charge in the injection-with-thyroid illustration | Running total |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-up | $99 kit + consult | $99 |
| Membership month 1 | $99 membership + $240 for one 60-day medicine supply = $339 | $438 |
| Membership month 2 | $99 | $537 |
| Membership month 3 | $99 membership + $240 medicine = $339 | $876 |
| Membership months 4–11 | Eight membership payments + four more $240 supplies = $1,752 | $2,628 |
| Membership month 12 | $99 | $2,727 |
- First 12-payment budget: injection with thyroid $2,727 ($99 + 12 × $99 + 6 × $240); cream with thyroid $2,871 ($99 + 12 × $99 + 6 × $264). Shipping and any extra charges are excluded.
- Next 12-payment budget: injection with thyroid $2,628, cream with thyroid $2,772, before shipping or other extra charges, assuming the same prices and six more supplies.
- The 360-day catch: six 60-day supplies cover 360 days, not 365. A seventh refill can fall inside a 365-day treatment period. Adding it raises this illustration to $2,967 for injections with thyroid or $3,135 for cream with thyroid, before shipping and any other charges. That extra fill mostly covers the following period; it is not five days of extra medicine priced separately.
- Shipping: Male Excel's current pricing page says shipping and handling are extra but doesn't give an amount. An older Male Excel pricing page that's still online lists $20 per FedEx order. Ask what it is today; we have not used the older fee in the totals.
- Your dose changes the price. Male Excel says its listed prices reflect a typical starting dose, and any change in dose changes the cost.113
Ask for the price of the medicine you actually need, with or without thyroid treatment, before treating this example as your budget.
What customers have reported about their bills
These are individual customer reports, not proof of anyone's typical bill. They show why you should get your total in writing.
In Male Excel's BBB complaint file, 2026 reports include a $283.60 medicine charge plus a $99 membership charge. That medicine charge is above the $240 starting-price illustration. Other reports describe a $49 promotional initial payment or surprise at later charges. These are complaints and company responses, not invoices we independently audited; they do not establish your price or a standard promotion.14
The fix is simple: before you click pay, ask for your full first medicine invoice—medicine, membership, and shipping—in one number.
Marek Health's bill, step by step
| When | Published charge or unresolved item | What it means for your budget |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-up | Program page advertises $299 | Opening fee only; another Marek landing page also displays $299.99 |
| Before the prescribing decision | Clinical labs selected for you | Ask for the required tests and total charge; $595 is the separate retail Pre-TRT Panel price |
| Before treatment, if required | An in-person physical | Confirm whether it is required, how recent it must be, and who pays |
| After treatment begins | Follow-up labs and provider visits | Get their dates, panel contents, prices, and included visit terms in writing |
| During treatment | Medicine, supplies, shipping, and any other required fees | Exact patient-specific total not published on the program pages checked |
The $299 program page is our opening-fee input. The $299/$299.99 discrepancy is another reason to confirm the actual charge rather than treat the landing page as a completed checkout.2154
What follow-up labs cost at Marek Diagnostics: the retail Testosterone Monitoring Panel lists $300. It also sells individual tests, but a self-built group of cheap tests is not automatically a clinically adequate follow-up panel. The store lists a $10 draw fee for custom orders, included in panel prices.129
One caution: Marek's lab store tags certain panels "Meets Treatment Requirements." That label concerns entry into the clinical program; it does not tell you which tests your clinician will require after treatment starts. Ask which panel your follow-up draws require.12
Our Marek comparison scenario uses the advertised $299 opening fee, the $595 retail Pre-TRT Panel, and two $300 retail monitoring panels: $1,494. It excludes medicine, any physical, extra visits, shipping, and other charges. It assumes the clinical program would accept those panels and that two monitoring panels fit the period being modeled—neither assumption is a verified clinical requirement or quote.2412
The second-period Marek scenario: $600 for two more $300 retail monitoring panels, plus medicine and all other clinical costs. This is not a published renewal package.
"Lifetime access," with a question mark. Marek's program page calls the $299 a one-time fee with lifetime access. It says that includes continuous health coaching, clinician consultations, and a custom lab report and protocol; required labs, prescriptions, and supplements are separate. Get the visit scope and any other recurring fees confirmed in your clinical agreement. We could not verify the current clinical agreement.2
The number that decides it: Marek's medicine price
We did not find a patient-specific medicine price on Marek's accessible program pages. So we flipped the question: how low would Marek's remaining costs have to be in the model for Marek to cost less?
| Time frame and model | Marek's remaining costs must average less than… |
|---|---|
| First 12-payment comparison: $2,727 Male Excel injection-with-thyroid model versus $1,494 Marek access-and-labs model | $102.75 a month—about $103 |
| Next 12-payment comparison: $2,628 versus $600 | $169 a month |
| Two 12-payment periods combined: $5,355 versus $2,094 | $135.88 a month—about $136 |
| Two periods versus Male Excel's cream-with-thyroid model: $5,643 versus $2,094 | $147.88 a month—about $148 |
TRT Provider Guide calculations from published starting prices and explicitly assumed retail lab purchases, September 16, 2026. These are scenario thresholds, not quoted savings. Remaining costs include Marek's medicine, any physicals, visits, and other charges not already counted. The table initially excludes Male Excel's shipping and extra charges; add the actual costs on both sides before deciding.
Here's how to use it. Get Marek's medicine price in writing. Add every other required cost that is not in the access-and-labs scenario. Divide a yearly physical charge by 12 to express it monthly. Compare that total with the relevant threshold only after updating both companies' inputs from your actual quotes.
The formula: (Male Excel's complete cost for the period − Marek's non-medication cost for the same period) ÷ number of months = the maximum average monthly Marek medicine cost at break-even.
For example, ($2,727 − $1,494) ÷ 12 = $102.75, but only under the stated assumptions. If either quote requires different tests, additional medicine, a different supply schedule, or other fees, the result changes. This is a billing comparison, not a claim that the treatment plans are medically interchangeable.
Don't substitute a review site's medicine estimate for your quote. Ask Marek before you buy a lab panel.
The two-year view
| Modeled period | Male Excel injection with thyroid | Male Excel cream with thyroid | Marek access-and-retail-labs scenario |
|---|---|---|---|
| First 12-payment period | $2,727 | $2,871 | $1,494 |
| Next 12-payment period | $2,628 | $2,772 | $600 |
| Combined model | $5,355 | $5,643 | $2,094 + medicine + all other clinical costs |
These are not complete two-calendar-year quotes. The Male Excel columns include 12 medicine supplies totaling 720 supply days, 24 membership payments, and one initial fee. The Marek column assumes one opening fee, one retail starter panel, and four retail monitoring panels. Shipping, additional supplies needed for the full calendar period, price changes, and other unresolved costs are excluded.

How does each company test you before prescribing?
Marek Diagnostics' retail Pre-TRT Panel lists a blood count, LH, FSH, and prolactin; Male Excel's starter kit lists five markers without those tests. The pages checked do not establish a complete two-morning-test diagnostic protocol for either clinical program. A bigger panel does not replace a repeat morning testosterone test or a clinician's assessment.435
What proper testing looks like, in plain English
Hypogonadism means the testicles do not produce normal amounts of testosterone, sperm, or both. A diagnosis of testosterone deficiency is not made from a symptom checklist or one result. The Endocrine Society's guideline and July 2026 statement call for:
- Repeat early-morning blood tests, on separate days, with fasting as directed. Testosterone varies, so one low reading isn't enough.
- Low numbers plus symptoms or signs. Symptoms alone don't count. Neither does one low number.
- An appropriate reference range. About 300 ng/dL is a commonly used threshold, not a universal diagnosis. Test methods, the clinical picture, and—in selected cases—free testosterone affect interpretation.
- An accurate test method. Results can vary between assays. A clinician should use a reliable test and assess whether free testosterone is needed.
- A cause and safety assessment. This includes hematocrit before treatment, LH and FSH to help distinguish testicular from pituitary or hypothalamic causes of confirmed hypogonadism, and prostate-risk assessment when appropriate. Prolactin is used in the evaluation of secondary hypogonadism; it is not an automatic requirement for every man.511
A quick glossary for the tables below:
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Total testosterone | All the testosterone in your blood |
| Free testosterone | The small share not bound to proteins |
| SHBG | Sex hormone-binding globulin, a protein that holds onto testosterone |
| LH and FSH | Pituitary hormones involved in signaling testosterone and sperm production |
| Hematocrit | The share of your blood made of red cells; testosterone can raise it |
| PSA | Prostate-specific antigen, a blood marker used as part of prostate assessment—not a cancer diagnosis by itself |
| LC/MS | Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry, a laboratory measurement method |
| Equilibrium dialysis | A method used to measure free testosterone |
Definitions and clinical context follow the Endocrine Society guideline.11
The guideline checkpoint table
This compares what the companies publish, not clinical charts or care we observed. "Not established" means the accessible public pages did not settle the point; it doesn't mean the test never happens.
| Guideline or decision checkpoint | Male Excel publishes | Marek publishes |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat early-morning testosterone testing before diagnosis | Five-marker starter kit; a complete repeat-draw protocol and price were not established | Clinical labs selected for the patient; the retail Pre-TRT Panel is one panel, not proof of a second morning draw |
| Low levels plus symptoms or signs | Says care is guided by symptoms, not lab numbers alone | Program describes symptoms, goals, and lab review; this does not establish its full diagnostic criteria |
| Testosterone measurement method | Starter-kit assay method not specified in the pages checked; provider describes its lab as CLIA-certified | Retail panel lists total testosterone by LC/MS and free testosterone by equilibrium dialysis |
| LH and FSH for evaluating the cause | Not listed in the five-marker kit | Both listed in the retail Pre-TRT Panel |
| Prolactin when clinically indicated | Not listed in the five-marker kit | Listed in the retail Pre-TRT Panel |
| Hematocrit before therapy | Not listed in the five-marker kit | Complete blood count listed in the retail Pre-TRT Panel |
| Prostate assessment when appropriate | PSA is in the starter kit | PSA is not on the retail Pre-TRT Panel list checked; it is on the separate Monitoring Panel list |
| Comprehensive metabolic panel | Not listed in the five-marker kit | Not listed in the retail Pre-TRT Panel checked; listed in the Monitoring Panel |
| Follow-up testing | Homepage advertises six-month testing within membership | Program advertises ongoing follow-up, with labs extra; exact clinical testing schedule needs confirmation |
| Medicine and dispensing choice | Compounded testosterone; outside-pharmacy restriction in Terms | Exact prescribed product and current outside-pharmacy policy need confirmation |
| In-person physical | May be required | Current clinical requirement not verified |
Sources checked September 16, 2026: Male Excel's homepage, FAQ, pricing and Terms; Marek's program page; and both Marek Diagnostics panel lists. Clinical context: Endocrine Society guideline and 2026 statement.37182412115
Our read: Marek Diagnostics publishes more of the starter-panel contents. Male Excel publishes more of the ongoing-care bundle. Neither set of marketing pages proves that a complete diagnostic workup is included, so ask either clinician about the confirming morning test and any missing checks.
Symptoms and "optimal" levels are not a diagnosis
Male Excel leans on symptoms. Its homepage says treatment is guided by symptoms, "not lab numbers alone." That can describe part of an evaluation, but it cannot replace consistently low results. The Endocrine Society is blunt on this point: symptoms alone don't diagnose low testosterone.35
Marek's program also describes reviewing symptoms and labs. Ask what diagnostic criteria its prescriber uses and whether your plan includes a confirming second draw. A promise to optimize a number does not establish a medical need for testosterone.25
What each company checks after you start
- Male Excel: its homepage advertises a provider review every 60 days and blood testing every six months, both within membership. Its FAQ uses more conditional language about testing at six months and one year. Ask for the actual early and ongoing schedule in your plan.
- Marek Health: its program page advertises quarterly follow-ups and separately billed labs. Confirm whether each follow-up is with a coach or a prescriber, which blood tests are required, and what each visit costs.372
The Endocrine Society guideline calls for hematocrit before treatment, at three to six months, and then annually, with testosterone measurements and other monitoring matched to the treatment and clinical situation. A general six-month testing promise does not show that every initial or follow-up check is covered.11
For the steps behind the numbers, see our TRT blood-test guide.
Who will actually take care of you?
Male Excel advertises the same provider for 60-day reviews and unlimited e-visits, backed by a support line open seven days a week. Marek Health advertises a dedicated health coach and partnered medical providers. A coach, a support rep, and a prescriber do different jobs, so ask who handles medical questions.312
| Role | Male Excel | Marek Health |
|---|---|---|
| Who prescribes | Terms identify Male Excel Medical, P.A. and state-affiliated medical groups | Program describes partnered licensed medical providers; confirm your assigned clinician and medical group |
| Same provider over time? | Yes, according to the company | Advertised continuity with the same provider; not tested by us |
| Provider check-ins | Advertised every 60 days, plus unlimited e-visits | Program advertises quarterly follow-ups; confirm which are prescriber visits |
| Coach | No separate dedicated health-coach role promised in the membership checked | Dedicated health coach advertised |
| Support team | Phone seven days, 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Eastern; unlimited messaging advertised | Program lists weekdays, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern |
| Urgent medical questions | Get the clinical escalation process, not just a general support number | Ask whether your message goes first to a coach or a prescriber |
| Emergencies | Do not wait for a portal reply; call 911 | Do not wait for a portal reply; call 911 |
These are published role and access descriptions, not verified wait times or a check of an assigned clinician's license.8312
Your coach can help explain the process and organize questions. Your licensed prescriber makes medical decisions. Before paying, ask for the clinician's name, credential, state license, and how to reach the medical team when the coach is unavailable. On Marek's Trustpilot profile, a September 2026 reviewer described a shipment without the expected TRT medicine; an August 2026 reviewer described missing ezetimibe, a different medication. These are individual fulfillment reports—not evidence that missing shipments are typical or that both complaints involved testosterone.1417
What medicine would you get, and from which pharmacy?
Male Excel says its testosterone is compounded, and its Terms restrict sending prescriptions to another pharmacy. Marek's accessible program pages do not establish the exact testosterone product or a current right to use your own pharmacy. Get the medicine name, formulation, approval status, and dispensing pharmacy in writing before choosing either plan.382
Compounded vs FDA-approved, in plain words
An FDA-approved testosterone product went through FDA review for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing before it went on sale. A compounded preparation is made by a pharmacy or outsourcing facility; compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. FDA does not review each compounded product for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing.18
- Male Excel says its testosterone is compounded in the United States. That is not an FDA-approved testosterone product.
- Marek Health: ask about the exact prescription. A pharmacy that compounds drugs may also dispense manufactured drugs; its name alone does not establish the approval status of your medicine.
- For either company: ask whether the proposed product is compounded or FDA-approved, and get the manufacturer or compounder's name. Don't treat those categories as interchangeable.31819
Testosterone is also a Schedule III controlled substance in the United States. It requires a valid prescription; an online questionnaire does not authorize treatment. Medical monitoring is needed regardless of how the medicine is dispensed.202111
Testosterone treatment formats
- Male Excel: advertises testosterone cypionate injections under the skin and a Lipoderm testosterone cream. Its pricing page describes daily injections and twice-daily cream; these are descriptions of its offer, not instructions for you to follow.
- Marek Health: its testosterone landing page describes injectable and topical options. The exact product, schedule, and price need a patient-specific prescription and quote.115
Male Excel's homepage says it does not use estrogen blockers. No pellet option is listed on its treatment-pricing page. Those are limits of its published offer, not reasons to assume those options are right or wrong for you.31
About daily microdosing: it's part of Male Excel's marketing. We did not verify evidence that this particular program's daily approach produces better clinical outcomes than other clinician-selected schedules. Treat it as a treatment detail to discuss, not a proven edge. See our testosterone treatment-format guide for the broader choices.
Non-testosterone alternatives are a separate decision
Male Excel also markets Triclozene, which is not testosterone replacement. Its conflicting ingredient descriptions and fertility claims need a separate discussion; see the next section. Do not count a clomiphene-type tablet as an oral testosterone product.122
Who fills your prescription
| Pharmacy question | Male Excel | Marek Health |
|---|---|---|
| Pharmacies named in the sources checked | FAQ names WellDyne in Lakeland, Florida, and AnazaoHealth in Tampa, Florida | A complete current dispensing-pharmacy list was not verified from the accessible clinical pages |
| Can you use your own pharmacy? | No. Its Terms say it cannot send a prescription to a different pharmacy | Current policy and any prescription-management fee need written confirmation |
| Is the named pharmacy verified for your state and prescription? | No; this comparison did not verify a patient-specific pharmacy assignment or license | No; request the assignment and check it before relying on fulfillment |
| Can the dispensing pharmacy change? | Ask how you will be told if the assigned pharmacy changes | Ask about transfers, notice, and any added cost |
| Financial interests in the dispensing pharmacy | Not established by this check | Not established by this check |
| Child-resistant packaging | Terms say medicine will not ship in child-resistant packaging | Not established by this check |
Male Excel's pharmacy names and restrictions are provider-published disclosures, not independent licensing or quality certifications. Get the exact dispensing location, then check its license and authority to ship into your state through the relevant state pharmacy board.78
Why pharmacy choice matters: if you'd rather have an FDA-approved manufactured testosterone product, ask whether the clinician can prescribe that exact product and send it to your preferred pharmacy. Male Excel's outside-pharmacy restriction is a real limitation. We cannot award Marek a pharmacy-choice advantage without confirming its current terms.8
A pharmacy registration is not drug approval
A pharmacy license, inspection, or 503B outsourcing-facility registration is not FDA approval of a compounded drug. Traditional 503A compounding pharmacies and 503B outsourcing facilities operate under different federal conditions and oversight arrangements. Ask which facility will make or dispense your prescription; neither label makes the compounded medicine FDA-approved.19
The thyroid in Male Excel's prices
Male Excel's listed starting prices bundle testosterone with daily desiccated thyroid tablets. Male Excel's own safety page says its desiccated thyroid is not an Orange Book product and shouldn't be used for weight loss. Ask your provider two things: is the thyroid optional, and what evaluation shows you need it?1
There is a further approval issue, not just an extra ingredient. FDA says animal-derived thyroid medicines are not FDA-approved and are not eligible for compounding because they are biological products. FDA's current thyroid page describes concerns about potency, purity, and dosing. We did not inspect Male Excel's dispensed thyroid label, so this is not a finding about a particular filled prescription. Get the exact product and manufacturer, and discuss the reason for it and FDA-approved thyroid options with the prescriber. Do not change an existing prescription on your own.23
If you specifically want an FDA-approved product
Don't pick either company for that reason alone. Start by asking an in-network primary care clinician or urologist about an FDA-approved product and coverage. If you still prefer Marek's model, ask up front whether its provider can prescribe that product through your chosen pharmacy; don't assume the answer is yes.
The safety checks still matter
Testosterone can raise hematocrit, and FDA has required class-wide blood-pressure warnings for testosterone products. Topical testosterone also creates a risk of accidental transfer to other people. Ask how your clinician will monitor blood pressure and blood counts and explain the exact product's risks; a convenient delivery model does not remove them.1124
FDA's 2025 action removed boxed-warning language about increased major cardiovascular-event risk based on the evidence it reviewed. That did not establish that testosterone is risk-free, that it benefits everyone with fatigue, or that compounded preparations have FDA-reviewed safety and effectiveness.2418
What if you want kids?
Testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production, and the Endocrine Society recommends against starting it when near-term fertility is planned. If a baby is in your near-term plans, see a urologist or reproductive urologist before choosing either treatment program. Neither company's accessible pages establish a fertility-preservation guarantee.11
This is the section to read twice.
- Before treatment: tell the clinician whether you want children now or later. A reproductive evaluation, including whether semen testing is useful, belongs in that discussion.
- Do not assume a predictable result. Testosterone can lower sperm production, but it is not reliable contraception. Neither sperm preservation nor recovery on a fixed timeline can be promised.
- Other options exist, but they are not TRT. Selected patients may be evaluated for medicines that stimulate their own hormone production. That is a cause-specific treatment decision, not a reason to replace a fertility specialist with a general online program.11
Male Excel's Triclozene. Male Excel markets Triclozene as a daily tablet that raises the body's own testosterone while preserving fertility. Treat that as a marketing claim, not a fertility guarantee. Two cautions:
- Its pages name two different drugs. The pricing page says clomiphene citrate. The Triclozene page headline says enclomiphene citrate. Ask which one you'd get, in writing.
- Neither has an FDA-approved indication for treating low testosterone in men. Clomiphene's approval is for ovulatory dysfunction in women desiring pregnancy; use in men is off-label. Enclomiphene is not an FDA-approved drug, which is different from using an approved drug off-label.1222526
The hCG distinction matters too. The FDA-approved Pregnyl label includes selected cases of male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism—a problem with the hormone signals that stimulate the testicles. That specific indication is not approval for a blanket promise to preserve fertility during testosterone treatment. hCG is not testosterone replacement.27
Marek Health. Its accessible program pages do not provide enough detail to verify a fertility-specific treatment protocol. Ask who handles fertility assessment, whether a reproductive specialist is involved, and what the clinician proposes before paying.2
Our advice: if children are part of the next year or two, get a specialist's opinion before choosing a testosterone plan and ask whether semen analysis is appropriate. Read more in our TRT and fertility guide, or use Find My TRT Path to map a fertility-aware care route.
Which states can use Male Excel or Marek Health, and do you need an in-person visit?
Male Excel lists 11 excluded states; Marek Diagnostics lists retail lab restrictions or warnings affecting five states. Those retail rules are not a verified map of Marek Health's prescribing access. Federal telemedicine flexibility runs through December 31, 2026, but a clinician must still meet the applicable federal and state requirements.791021
Find your state
| Where you live | What the companies' own pages say | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Rhode Island, Hawaii | Male Excel excludes both. Marek Diagnostics restricts retail access in both. | Male Excel is not an option under its current list. Do not assume Marek can provide clinical care and required labs; get written confirmation or look at local care. |
| New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts | None is on Male Excel's exclusion list. Marek Diagnostics blocks NY and NJ orders; its refund policy warns about lab restrictions in MA as well. | Confirm your clinical and lab access separately. For Marek, get the required draw location and acceptance confirmed before paying. |
| Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire | Male Excel lists all nine as excluded. These states are not in the five-state Marek Diagnostics restriction/warning group. | Ask Marek whether an authorized prescriber and the required lab service are available where you are. Absence from a retail restriction list is not proof of clinical eligibility. |
| The other 36 states | No exclusion in Male Excel's current 11-state list or the five-state Marek Diagnostics restriction/warning group. | Confirm clinician access, the actual lab order, pharmacy shipping, and any visit requirement before choosing by fit. |
| DC, U.S. territories, military addresses | Male Excel's list is a state list and does not settle every non-state location. Marek Diagnostics excludes U.S. territories; military-address shipping and prescribing are separate questions. | Ask about your physical location during care, lab access, and the shipping address—not just a mailing ZIP code. |
This original grouping combines Male Excel's provider-stated exclusions with Marek Diagnostics' retail restrictions and warnings. The groups cover all 50 states: 2 + 3 + 9 + 36. They do not establish 14 clinical bans or guarantee that either program can treat you.7910
Marek's company-written Trustpilot profile advertises service across all 50 states. That statement does not resolve the retail restrictions or verify a prescriber for your location. Get those answers directly from the clinical program.17
The costly mistake to avoid
Buying a program or retail lab panel does not prove that the required draw can be completed where you live.
One July 2025 BBB complaint shows why that matters. A customer said he paid Marek $1,100—a $250 intake plus an $850 panel—and then could not complete the labs because of state restrictions. In its public reply, Marek said it refunded the intake without its standard 10% processing fee and that the lab refund was held up by the customer's card dispute. These are a dated complaint and company response, not current prices or a general refund promise.28
If you live near a restricted state line, ask Marek where you can lawfully get the required blood drawn before you pay anything. Do not assume an out-of-state draw fixes your clinical prescribing access.
Do you need an in-person visit?
- Federal rule: the DEA and HHS extension allows eligible DEA-registered practitioners to prescribe Schedule II–V controlled medications through qualifying audio-video telemedicine without a prior in-person examination through December 31, 2026. It does not waive other federal requirements or applicable state law, and it is not permission to prescribe testosterone from a questionnaire alone.
- Male Excel: says your treatment plan may require an in-person exam under DEA and state law, and your provider will tell you.
- Marek Health: ask whether a recent physical is required before treatment and how often it must be repeated. We could not verify its current clinical physical-exam policy from the accessible pages, so an annual-exam rule is not included here as a confirmed requirement.211
A separately obtained routine physical and the federal controlled-substance in-person-evaluation rules are not automatically the same requirement. Ask the prescriber what applies to your care and who must perform it. Any claim about what happens after December 31, 2026 needs a new rule check.21

Can you use insurance, HSA, or FSA?
Neither company's published program accepts insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid billing. Both advertise possible HSA or FSA use, but those statements do not establish that every fee is eligible or that your account administrator will accept the documentation. Confirm the expense, receipt, and reimbursement requirements before relying on those funds.872
- Male Excel: cash-pay only. Its Terms say claims will not be submitted to a government program or commercial insurer for its services. Its FAQ says some HSA, FSA, or health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) reimbursement may be possible, but it also says it does not provide letters of medical necessity or medical consent.
- Marek Health: its program page says it does not accept insurance and advertises FSA/HSA eligibility. We could not verify the current clinical agreement's reimbursement terms. Marek Diagnostics separately accepts eligible HSA/FSA payments through TrueMed; that retail payment option does not settle every clinical-program expense.8729
Paying with an HSA card isn't the same as getting reimbursed
An HSA is a health savings account. An FSA is a health flexible spending arrangement. Both have rules about which medical expenses qualify.29
Paying with an HSA or FSA card uses money in that account at checkout. Reimbursement means paying out of pocket and later requesting repayment from the account. Neither method turns an ineligible expense into an eligible one. Keep an itemized receipt and ask your administrator what documentation it requires.29
For Marek, ask which charges are for clinical care, labs, coaching, supplements, or other services and what documentation it provides for each. For Male Excel, check whether its available records meet your account's requirements, especially if a letter of medical necessity is needed. Its FAQ says it does not provide that letter.72
Need insurance to pay? Neither company is the right fit for direct insurance billing. Start by checking coverage and appointment access with in-network primary care, urology, or endocrinology. Find My TRT Path can help you sort that care route.
Can you cancel, and can you get money back?
Male Excel says you can cancel or pause, but its general terms make sales final; its conditional 90-day guarantee covers only up to $297 of membership fees. Marek Diagnostics also makes retail sales final, which does not establish Marek Health's clinical refund policy. Get the current clinical cancellation and refund terms before buying access.3810
Male Excel
- No contract. Male Excel says you can cancel or pause anytime. Its Terms still govern payment and cancellation.
- Auto-charges. Its Terms say subscription services are charged automatically. Its FAQ gives a 48-hour window after a refill reminder to request changes before processing. Ask how to cancel both membership and medication refills and when the change takes effect.
- Sales are final. Its Terms say fees, including subscription fees, aren't refundable, though it may handle issues case by case.
- The guarantee: refunds membership fees only—not the kit, not medicine—if its 90-day conditions are met. Three $99 fees equal $297. In the injection-with-thyroid illustration, $99 initial + three $99 memberships + two $240 supplies = $876 before shipping; the maximum membership refund is about 34% of that modeled spend.
- Get cancellation in writing. Ask for the effective date, confirmation that future membership and refill charges are disabled, and the status of any order already being processed.378
Marek Health
- Access is not the same as a treatment subscription. The program page calls its opening fee a one-time payment with lifetime access to coaching and clinician consultations. Ask which visits that covers and whether any additional clinical service, prescription, lab, or other charge recurs.
- Clinical refunds are not established by the lab store's rules. Get the current clinical agreement and its terms for an unsuitable candidate, missed visit, cancellation, and any processed prescription. We could not read that agreement during this check.
- Retail lab purchases are final under Marek Diagnostics' policy. Do not buy a panel assuming that a later clinical decision will make it refundable.
- Stored-card permission and deadlines matter. Ask what can be charged automatically, what notice you receive, and how to stop future purchases.
- In practice: Marek's July 2025 BBB response mentioned a standard 10% processing fee that it waived on one refund. That is a dated case, not proof of a current general fee. Ask what would be deducted from any refund in your agreement.21028
Cancelable isn't the same as refundable
Canceling future service does not automatically return money you've already paid or undo an order already being processed. Before you pay either company, ask: "If your provider decides I'm not a candidate, what do I get back?" Then ask when future charges stop.
Read the dispute terms too
Male Excel's Terms include individual arbitration with exceptions, including eligible small-claims cases, and a written opt-out procedure within 30 days of first accepting the terms. Its stated liability limit is generally the greater of payments in the preceding 12 months or $100, subject to applicable-law limits and the rest of the agreement. Read the actual clause rather than assume every dispute or remedy is covered by that summary.8
We could not verify Marek's current clinical arbitration, liability, appointment-fee, or opt-out terms. Request the agreement before payment; do not substitute its retail lab refund page.
Get your records before a handoff
Ask who holds your clinical record and how to request the consultation notes, dated lab results, medication list, and prescription details securely. Confirm any fee, identity check, and expected turnaround. Neither company's patient-specific records-transfer process was tested in this comparison.
If you move to another clinician, arrange the handoff rather than assuming a prescription transfers automatically or changing treatment on your own. See our online versus local TRT care comparison for that decision.

Are Male Excel and Marek Health legit?
Both have active public offers and business-review profiles, but those are not a medical-quality certification. Male Excel's BBB profile shows an A+ rating and accreditation; Marek's shows an A+ rating without accreditation. Before treatment, verify the assigned clinician and dispensing pharmacy rather than treating a seal, review score, or business rating as clinical approval.123031
| Trust check | Male Excel | Marek Health |
|---|---|---|
| Public business profile | BBB lists Male Excel in Charlotte, North Carolina | BBB lists Marek Health, LLC in Pontiac, Michigan |
| Medical organization disclosure | Terms name Male Excel Medical, P.A., plus California, Delaware, Kansas, and New Jersey affiliates | Accessible program pages describe partnered medical providers; the current clinical legal-group list was not verified |
| Independent clinician or pharmacy license check in this comparison | Not completed for a patient-specific assignment | Not completed for a patient-specific assignment |
| LegitScript status | Current directory certification not independently verified in this check | Current directory certification not independently verified in this check |
| BBB | A+, accredited; 38 complaints in three years on the complaint page checked | A+, not accredited; two complaints in three years |
| Trustpilot | 4.5 from 6,470 reviews | 4.8 from 972 reviews |
| Size claimed in marketing | Homepage claims 100,000+ men treated | Company marketing describes tens of thousands of clients |
| Privacy check | Main site links a Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy | Review the platform's and treating medical group's policies; this comparison does not establish HIPAA coverage for every interaction |
BBB and Trustpilot figures read September 16, 2026. Business ratings, raw complaint totals, and provider-reported patient counts are different measures. Without comparable audited patient counts and complaint collection, these figures cannot establish which company has the lower complaint rate.30143128161738
About the "results" numbers on both sites
Both companies advertise outcome-style percentages. The cited marketing sources do not establish controlled trials of the programs.
- Male Excel says 96% of patients experience "life-changing results in six months," based on 32,795 members' symptom reviews with their own providers.
- Marek Health shows figures such as 89% improved energy and focus, with a footnote referring to satisfaction data from 791 Trustpilot reviews. Its Trustpilot profile showed 972 reviews and a 4.8 score when checked.3217
These are not comparable measures of treatment effectiveness. They can't predict what happens to you, and they don't prove one company's care works better. We have not used them to choose a clinical winner.
Why do Male Excel and Marek prices look different on other sites?
Both companies have pages that describe prices or inclusions differently. We traced the differences below to the companies' own published pages. When two numbers disagree, get an itemized current quote and read the payment terms before paying—not just the headline price.113215
Where each company's own pages disagree

| Male Excel shipping | Shipping and handling are extra on the main pricing page | $20 per FedEx order on the other pricing page | Ask for today's fee; don't silently use the older one |
| Triclozene's drug | Clomiphene citrate on the pricing page | Enclomiphene citrate in the Triclozene page headline | Ask which drug and exact formulation, in writing |
| Triclozene price | $95/month | $120/month elsewhere on the same pricing page | Ask for a product-specific quote |

| Marek refunds | Retail lab sales are final | A dated clinical BBB response describes a discretionary refund and a waived processing fee | Get the current clinical agreement; don't generalize from the case |
This table compares published disclosures, not patient accounts or completed checkouts. All pages were checked September 16, 2026.1378132221549101728
Four shortcuts that can give you the wrong comparison
- "Male Excel's membership is $30 a month." That number is still visible on a separate pricing page. The main pricing page used here lists $99.
- "Male Excel's injection price is the whole plan." The advertised injection price includes thyroid medicine but excludes required membership and shipping.
- "Marek is available in all 50 states, so I can buy its labs anywhere." Clinical availability and retail lab access are different questions.
- "Marek's retail panel plus $299 is the treatment price." That leaves out medicine and does not establish the clinical program's required lab order or follow-up bill.11324910
None of these mismatches, by itself, proves misconduct. It's exactly why you should get your numbers in writing.
What should you ask before paying either company?
Get the full first charge, the exact medicine, and the refund rule in writing before you pay either company. For Marek, also get the medicine price and written confirmation that you can complete the required clinical labs in your state. Those answers settle most of the cost and risk questions on this page.
The two questions that matter most
- Male Excel: "What will my full first medicine invoice be, including membership and shipping—and is thyroid medicine included because I need it?"
- Marek Health: "What will my medicine cost each month, and can I complete the required labs where I live?"
Copy and send this to both
Before I pay, please send me an itemized quote for the care you'd recommend. Separate the first payment, any membership or access fees, required first and repeat lab tests, provider visits, medication, supplies, and shipping. Tell me which amounts are refundable if your provider decides I'm not a candidate or if I stop. Please also confirm which provider would treat me in my state, whether I need an in-person exam, which pharmacy would fill my prescription, and how I get copies of my records.
Add these for Male Excel
- Is my testosterone compounded, and which pharmacy fills it?
- Is the thyroid medicine optional? What evaluation shows I need it, and what exact product would I receive?
- Will you check my hematocrit, evaluate whether LH/FSH testing is needed, and confirm a low testosterone result with another early-morning test?
- Where do I turn off auto-refills, and how does the 48-hour reminder window work?
- Exactly what does the 90-day guarantee require?
Add these for Marek Health
- Which initial and follow-up lab panels will my clinical plan require, and how much are they? Are the retail panels usable for my plan?
- Does anything tied to the opening fee renew? Which follow-up provider visits are included?
- Can my provider prescribe an FDA-approved testosterone product and send it to my local pharmacy? Are there extra fees?
- Does my plan include a second early-morning testosterone test when needed to confirm a low result?
- What does the clinical refund policy say, including any processing or missed-appointment fee? Is a physical required before treatment or on renewal?
The two-quote worksheet
Fill this in as the answers come back. If a required line is blank, you don't have a complete quote yet.
| Line item | Male Excel quote | Marek Health quote |
|---|---|---|
| Date of quote | ||
| First payment and what it covers | ||
| Membership or access fees, and when they renew | ||
| Required first lab tests | ||
| Required repeat lab tests and their schedule | ||
| Provider visits included | ||
| Medicine: name, compounded or FDA-approved, supply size, and cost | ||
| Add-on medicines, and why | ||
| Shipping and supplies | ||
| In-person exam: required? who pays? | ||
| Refund if I'm not a candidate | ||
| How to cancel, and when charges stop | ||
| Pharmacy name and dispensing location | ||
| Assigned clinician, credential, and state license | ||
| How to request and transfer medical records | ||
| Complete 365-day total, including refill timing |
Then compare complete quotes for the same period, using the crossover formula above. A lower bill is not a better fit if it omits a test, a visit, or the treatment format you need.

Who should skip both Male Excel and Marek Health?
Skip a general online testosterone-treatment purchase for now if you're trying to conceive, haven't been properly evaluated, or need insurance to pay. A cancer history, high hematocrit, untreated severe sleep apnea, or a recent heart attack or stroke needs individualized clinical review rather than a provider comparison. Unconfirmed state or lab access is another reason not to pay yet.115
- Trying to conceive: start with a reproductive urologist or another clinician with fertility expertise before considering testosterone.
- Not properly tested: seek a diagnostic evaluation, including appropriate repeat early-morning testing. Primary care is one starting point; a paid treatment program is not a substitute for diagnosis.
- Insurance or Medicare needed: check in-network primary care, urology, or endocrinology and your plan's coverage.
- Rhode Island or Hawaii: Male Excel excludes both. Marek's retail lab restrictions mean its clinical access needs direct confirmation; local care may be the more practical starting point.
- Recent heart attack or stroke: discuss timing and risk with your treating clinician. The Endocrine Society guideline recommends against starting testosterone within six months of either event.
- Prostate or breast cancer, a high hematocrit, or untreated severe sleep apnea: these require clinical assessment before a testosterone decision. A history of treated prostate cancer is not the same as active disease; a specialist should review the individual history and current labeling.
- Under 18, seeking gender-affirming hormone care, evaluating testosterone use in women, or looking for athletic-performance use: this adult-male testosterone-deficiency comparison does not provide the right clinical framework.11579
A current labeling distinction: in June 2026, HHS announced requested changes to testosterone labeling, including prostate-cancer and age-related language. A request to manufacturers is not proof that every product label has already changed. That announcement does not remove the need for an individual diagnosis or specialist assessment where warranted.32

What are the best alternatives if neither fits?
The right alternative depends on why both were ruled out. For insurance billing or an FDA-approved product, start by checking in-network primary care or urology; for a different online membership with lab monitoring included, Hone Health is an option to compare. If fertility or an uncertain diagnosis is the issue, resolve that clinical question rather than shop for a different testosterone subscription.3311
| If this ruled out both… | Look at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You need insurance billing or a specific FDA-approved product | In-network primary care, urology, or endocrinology | Check coverage, the exact product, and whether treatment is appropriate |
| You want another membership with routine testing and clinician consultations | Hone Health Premium | Its current help page itemizes startup, confirmation testing, membership, and medication charges separately |
| You're trying to conceive soon | Reproductive urologist | Fertility-first evaluation |
| You're not sure yet | Find My TRT Path | Organizes the questions and care routes for your situation |
Hone Health, by the numbers (checked September 16, 2026): its current Premium help page lists a $65 initial at-lab test, a $25 confirmatory test for TRT, and $155 a month for membership with follow-up testing and clinician consultations. That gives $1,950 for those listed items over 12 membership payments, before medication: $65 + $25 + 12 × $155.3334
The medicine unit matters. Hone's sales page advertises testosterone cypionate from $28 a month, but its current Premium help page lists $28 per vial. A vial is not automatically a month's supply. We therefore do not publish a complete annual medicine total from that starting price. Ask for the exact product, FDA-approved or compounded status, vial quantity, refill schedule, and total. The help page says shipping is included and describes cancellation taking effect at the end of the current billing period.3533

How we compared Male Excel and Marek Health
We compared the accessible public offers, lab listings, policies, and customer-review records on September 16, 2026, using the Endocrine Society, FDA, HHS, DEA, and prescribing information for clinical and regulatory claims. All totals are our arithmetic from published inputs and stated assumptions. We didn't enroll, receive medicine, contact support, or score either company.
This comparison follows How We Review TRT Providers. We sort every claim into one of four types:
- Verified fact: an official clinical or regulatory source supports the statement, or a calculation can be reproduced from its inputs. For a company page, verification establishes what was published—not that every promised service was delivered.
- Company-stated: the company describes its price, service, access, process, pharmacy relationship, or outcome. We attribute those claims and distinguish them from independently observed care.
- Customer experience: what an identifiable reviewer or complainant reported. It identifies a possible question to ask, not medical efficacy, a verified policy, or the frequency of a problem.
- Our judgment: who each option fits, based on the evidence and limits above.
We don't give numeric scores, and being listed here isn't an endorsement. For deeper single-company detail, see our Male Excel review, Male Excel cost breakdown, Marek Health review, and Marek Health cost breakdown.
The original assets on this page are the published-testing checkpoint table, the state-and-lab-access grouping, the pharmacy-disclosure comparison, the clearly labeled cost and crossover models, and the two-quote worksheet. They are assembled comparisons, not firsthand treatment results.

Male Excel vs Marek Health: FAQ
These are short answers to common decisions in a Male Excel versus Marek Health comparison. Published prices and policies were checked September 16, 2026, with unresolved clinical terms identified rather than assumed. None of these answers can decide whether testosterone treatment is right for you.
Is Male Excel cheaper than Marek Health?
A complete cost winner is not established. Male Excel's $2,727 injection-with-thyroid illustration uses one $99 initial fee, 12 $99 membership payments, and six $240 medicine supplies; shipping and extra charges are excluded. Marek's $1,494 illustration uses its advertised $299 opening fee and assumed retail lab purchases, not a verified clinical package. The roughly $103-a-month crossover applies only to that model; compare complete quotes for the same time period.172412
How much does Male Excel cost per month?
Male Excel charges a $99 monthly membership plus medicine. Its injection-with-thyroid starting price is $120 per month and its cream-with-thyroid starting price is $132, billed in 60-day supplies, with shipping extra. That is an average starting membership-and-bundle budget of $219 or $231 a month, not a single monthly invoice or a testosterone-only quote; the published initial kit and consult are another $99.17
Does Marek Health charge a monthly fee?
Its program page calls the $299 Guided Optimization opening fee a one-time payment with lifetime access. Labs, supplements, and prescriptions are billed separately. Ask which ongoing visits and services are included and whether any additional fees recur; the current clinical agreement was not verified.2
Does buying a Marek Diagnostics lab panel enroll me in treatment?
Do not assume it does. Marek Diagnostics sells retail lab panels, and Marek Health advertises a separate clinical program. A panel's treatment-requirements label does not guarantee enrollment, medical eligibility, or a prescription. Confirm whether the clinical program accepts that panel for you and whether any program fee is separate.4122
Does Male Excel require blood work?
Yes. Its FAQ lists a $99 at-home finger-prick kit and online consult, and its homepage advertises blood testing every six months within membership. Confirm whether a second early-morning testosterone test and any additional baseline or early monitoring tests are included.73
Does Marek Health require a physical exam?
We could not verify its current clinical physical-exam rule from the accessible pages. Before paying, ask whether an in-person exam is required, how recent it must be, who can perform it, how often it must be repeated, and who pays. Do not treat federal telemedicine flexibility as a promise that a provider will not require a physical.221
Is Male Excel's or Marek's testosterone FDA-approved?
Male Excel says its testosterone is compounded; compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. For Marek, the exact prescribed product and its approval status were not established by the pages checked. Get the product name and manufacturer or compounder; a pharmacy's name or registration does not establish drug approval.3182
Can I use my own pharmacy?
Male Excel's Terms say it cannot send prescriptions to a different pharmacy. Marek's current outside-pharmacy policy and possible fees need written confirmation; we could not verify a contractual right to pharmacy choice.8
Which states can't use Male Excel?
Male Excel's current exclusion list names Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. This is the company's published list, not confirmation of an individual prescription or appointment in every other location.7
Is Marek Health available in every state?
Marek's company profile advertises all 50 states, but that is not a verified clinical access map. Marek Diagnostics restricts retail orders in New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island, excludes Hawaii and U.S. territories, and warns about Massachusetts lab restrictions in its refund policy. Confirm the clinical prescriber and required lab draw before paying.17910
Can I get a refund from Male Excel?
Its general terms say sales are final. The separate conditional 90-day guarantee covers up to three $99 membership fees if its symptom-improvement and plan-following conditions are met. It doesn't cover the kit or medicine. Read the conditions before relying on it.83
Can I get a refund from Marek Health?
Get the current clinical refund agreement before paying; it was not readable during this check. Marek Diagnostics' retail policy says sales are final, but that is not a substitute for the clinical program's policy. A refund described in one BBB case is not a general promise.1028
Does either company take insurance?
No. Their published programs are cash-pay and do not accept insurance billing. If insurance or Medicare payment is necessary, check coverage with in-network primary care, urology, or endocrinology before choosing a cash-pay program.82
Can I use HSA or FSA money?
Both advertise possible HSA/FSA use, but eligibility and documentation must be confirmed for your expense and account. Male Excel's FAQ says it does not provide letters of medical necessity. Marek Diagnostics' retail HSA/FSA payment option does not automatically settle the eligibility of every Marek clinical fee.729
Which is better if I want kids?
Neither is a default fertility-first choice based on the evidence checked. The Endocrine Society recommends against testosterone therapy when near-term fertility is planned because it can suppress sperm production. See a reproductive urologist or another fertility-focused clinician before choosing treatment; no provider can promise fertility preservation or recovery for you.11
What is Triclozene?
Male Excel markets it as a daily tablet containing a clomiphene-type drug with additional ingredients. Its pages name clomiphene in some places and enclomiphene in others, so ask which drug and exact formulation you'd receive. It isn't testosterone. Clomiphene use for low testosterone in men is off-label; enclomiphene is not an FDA-approved drug.1222526
Do I need an in-person visit for online TRT in 2026?
The federal extension permits eligible DEA-registered clinicians to prescribe controlled medicines through qualifying audio-video telemedicine without a prior in-person exam through December 31, 2026, subject to other federal and state requirements. A provider may still require an exam. Male Excel says one may be needed; Marek's current clinical rule needs direct confirmation.211
Is daily microdosing better than other injection schedules?
Male Excel advertises a daily approach, but this comparison did not verify evidence that its schedule produces better clinical outcomes. The right treatment format and schedule are clinical decisions based on the exact product, evaluation, response, and monitoring—not a marketing label.111
Can I switch between Male Excel and Marek later?
You can seek care from another provider, but acceptance, testing requirements, and a new prescription are not automatic. Ask the receiving clinician which recent labs it accepts and request your records before the handoff. Do not assume a retail panel replaces that evaluation, and don't change your treatment without a clinician.
